let’s rewind the clock back to the 8th Century the story of Mont San Michelle begins with a legend according to history Archangel Michael appeared in a vision to Bishop Oar of Avan in the year 708 the angel commanded him to build a church on this Rocky island the bishop hesitated so Legend says Archangel Michael literally burned a hole into his skull to get the message across and just like that the foundation of what would become Moss San Michelle was laid over the centuries this island transformed into an impregnable Fortress a grand Abbey and even a prison during the French Revolution but through all these changes it never lost its mystical charm and today it stands as a UNESCO world heritage site welcoming over 3 million visitors every year
