Correction: In Sri Lanka you don’t use the word masala. Masala is a word used in Indian languages. This is important to keep in mind please. You can say curry powder or just curry. Sri Lanka has its own spice blends. Sri Lanka is very different to India in all ways.

Just a little correction. We Sri lankan never use masala in our authentic cooking. Instead we use curry powder which is locally known as thunapaha. Masala is an Indian thing.
