ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! – Rouen is absolutely stunning.

Many years ago I made a day-trip to Rouen to see a stage of the Tour de France. Fast forward many years and I’m here to explore the city I completely missed. I had no idea Rouen was so beautiful.

  1. Hi Scott ,
I was thinking of going to Rouen but I read its not very clean , litter everywhere, lots of graffiti and beggars everywhere, which is a shame because the old town looks nice with the old wooden buildings but the same could be said for some parts of Paris , how long is the train from Paris to Rouen and how many days would you recommend if I were to visit ?
    Thanks

  2. I am lifting my hat for an outstanding Scottish chap! I hope you are at cruising altitude! Is it possible to get your book signed by you and shipped to Sweden? How much would it cost?
Greetings from a fan in beautiful Sweden

  3. A wee history lesson Scott about the Garde Ecossaise and Scotland's links to Joan of Arc:
She marched into Orléans to the sound of bagpipes. She entered the city accompanied by a guard of around 60 Scottish men-at-arms and 70 archers. The pipers played Hey Tuttie Tatie – the song that, legend has it, was played for Robert the Bruce as he marched into battle at Bannockburn.

Thanks for the great tour of Rouen, putting it on my bucket list

  4. Terrible reason why Joan of Arc wore men's clothing; to make it harder for soldiers to rape her' unfortunately for this much bused woman it did not work, specilly when she was in the custody of the English!

  5. So nice to see places without the crowds you get in the uk.
Everywhere here is so congested, our country is really way overpopulated and you notice it when you look at YouTubers videos of places abroad.

  6. Interesting factoid – 5 times Tour de France champion Jacques Anquetil was from Rouen (or a suburb Mont-Saint Aignan) certainly a Norman anyway.

  7. We are lucky, having a base between the two, both are equally as good, each has its own qualities, it all depends on your needs, one is no better than the other – just different
