I have been wanting to get myself on another 757 for a while now and with the very uncertain time that we live in I was worried they could be retired from service with little to no warning. So with that in my mind I decided to book this trip down to the beautiful island of Corfu in order to do some spotting while there and to get myself on a 757 and return back to Manchester on a 767!
Now out of the 757’s left with Jet2 this one, G-LSAB is the oldest. At 32 years old, started flying in 1988!
A beautiful morning in Manchester surprisingly, departure time was 7:30am, so the low golden sunlight really makes the RB211 engines glow during the initial climb out of RWY05L at Manchester. We turned right slightly during the climb and headed east passing over Doncaster & Sheffield airport and out over the north sea. Crossing into mainland Europe just to the south of Amsterdam, the city and airport visible in the video. Continuing south east over Germany, the Dolomite Mountains and down the Adriatic coastline. Some nice views of Tivat before starting our descent. During the approach on the northerly runway we pretty much circled around the entire island offering some spectacular views so I’ve not cut it short or edited much of the approach out as the views of the island are incredible. Golden beaches and turquoise sea all around the coast.
My only complaint about the 757 and I’ve noticed this before is the deafening air con. Which seems to get louder as the engines spool up. It almost drowns out the beautiful RB211 roar during take off.
