▬ Ayia Napa, Protaras and Paralimni ▬
The East of Cyprus is famous for its sandy beaches and party lifestyle, but there is so much more to it than that. In this road trip we take you around Ayia Napa, Protaras and Paralimni. We also visit Cape Greco and numerous beaches along the way, as well as other interesting attractions. We even have time to take in the new Marina. The route is circular, beginning and ending at the Sculpture Park in Ayia Napa. If you are based in Protaras or Paralimni you can start in those towns and jump to the appropriate point. We do however recommend coming to the Sculpture Park and starting there, as it is best viewed either in the morning or evening.

2 weeks cant wait
There was a post on Marika and Me YouTube channel that they are permanently closing due to problems with the building and some legalities surrounding it. He decided to pull the plug.
They have closed due to legal reasons. Apparently the bar originally is made up of 2 former Shops so the powers that be said they have to separate it back into 2 shops and then apply for said licences and then apply to turn them into one, they did build a wall to separate but other restrictions/orders have cropped up. In other words the original bar Hollywood? Didn't have planning permission hence the situation. The matter is now in legal hands.
Thanks dom for the insight in to the Marika and me bar unfortunately a lot of people will not get a penny from this con couple.😢
Hi Dom great vids.
Just a note on Edleweiss, restaraunt. We first visited Edelweiss in 1990 and it was a typical greek taverna owned by George and his Son also George. We visited every year for around 12 years when it unfortunately closed when bar street started to go downhill.
George was a great guy and loved to tell the tale that he was the first restaurant to open in Paphos in 1972 the food was always fantastic and it was a shame when he closed.
Fantastic video as usual Dom!
I was in Paphos for two weeks recently, staying at the Dionysos Central Hotel, and every night I passed the Marika & Me Lounge Bar on Bar Street. It only opened in March, but its already closed.
From what I saw, the problem was obvious: there were virtually no customers. On most nights, maybe one or two people inside at most, nursing a single drink. Bar Street is mainly aimed at a young, party-going crowd, and a lounge-style bar just doesn’t fit that scene. In my view, the choice of location was a serious miscalculation – it looked like failure was written on the cards from the very beginning.
Some people online have also pointed out that the investment figures that were talked about don’t really seem to add up. I’m not making any claims one way or the other, but if you’re going to publicise large sums being put into a project, people will naturally ask questions when it closes almost straight away.
At the end of the day, running a bar in Cyprus is hard enough – but choosing the wrong place, with the wrong audience, and expecting it to succeed was, in my opinion, a big mistake from the start.
RE:Marika & Me bar. He posted a video a couple of days ago, saying they've pulled the plug on it as he'd spent too much money on it and they'd had lots of problems with planning etc…But all eveyone elses fault, not theirs.
I remember meeting the owner of the Robin Hood many years ago sad its changed ownership he also owned Tropical Nights oppsite Wonder what is happening with that bar? Marika & Me Bar is closed permanently.
Very beautiful walk 👍
