And It’s The Only One In Europe! We Came For The Cable Car And Stayed For The Awful Weather…
[Music] Today’s video is going to be a little bit more relaxed and laidback than it was meant to be, but the fact that we’re going to the southwest coast of Ireland. I think relaxed and laidback kind of suits the place. At the last minute, I’ve hired a car for this poor girl who’s not quite back to full fitness yet, but you try and stop her going to Ireland. Hello. And this trip was my idea. So, we have to go. The only reason you’re here to get us through the special assistance lane. Isn’t it typical we’re at the furthest away gate? Of course we are. You poor thing. I’m fine. Have you got odd socks on? I do. I know. I have no shame. [Music] Don’t protect your seat. [Music] [Music] and ladies and gentlemen Cork. The local time is approaching. Ladies and gentlemen, you’re being welcome. Getting that knee moving. Okay, let’s go. Just take your time. for your time. Yeah. Thank you. Welcome home. Good. That was quick. [Music] Welcome to Cork. We finally stumbled to where we pick up the car. And I tell you what, when we got off that plane, it was windy. It was cold and wet. Kind of glad we’ve got a car. We’re always at the one with the queue, aren’t we? That’s because I’m slow, so we’re always the last. [Music] Did you say to the left? To the left. Yes. I think this is where we’re going. This is West Cork. What do you think? Doesn’t feel like it yet. There’s nothing as cold as a summer in Cork. Here’s our car, but there’s a plane just coming in behind it. Very windy for approaches this morning. Good flying, guys. Thank you. That should be nice and comfy for you. We’ve got a slightly bigger car. Nice. I could get used to this, you know. The idea for this whole trip was to go for a hike on Darcy Island. Now, to get to Darcy Island, you don’t use a ferry. You take a cable car, which looks amazing. Thing is, though, we can’t really go for a hike just now. And with this wind, the cable car might not even be running. But let’s head down that way anyway. We’ll see how we get on. At least we’re driving on the lefth hand side. Eh, that’s true. We need to remember this is a diesel. Can someone remind us this is a diesel car. We come back to refuel. Tell you what, the weather’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Hey, don’t say it yet. It’s 9:30 in the morning. Yeah, we’ve only just started. Yeah. So, we’ve got 2 and 1 half an hour drive. In one mile at the roundabout, take the first exit towards Trill and 22. Oh, thank God for Satnav. Right, we stopped at a Sentra. Anything you fancy? Could I have something? [Music] Right, we’ve got drinks. Yes, we’ve got um chocolate peanuts. Yay. And we’ve got some kind of pies. I’ll take you somewhere proper. You know, I love Ireland. Even we just stopped at a gas station to get a coffee. Everyone’s so friendly, aren’t they? And just chilled. I really like it here. And the accent is lovely. Thank you so much for coming on cuz I know that you’re absolutely flat out today. Um I know it’s no consolation, but at least you have a 100% track record. You didn’t get anything wrong. And it’s like we’ve got 2 hours drive or whatever. We’re on this tiny little road. Mhm. But it doesn’t matter, does it? Is that a part of like a scenic road or something? I don’t know. I don’t think we’re there yet. I don’t know if you can see much on camera, but down to the right hand side, it’s clearing up a bit and it just looks beautiful. Fish and chips, ice cream. You see all this orange on the side of the road? Don’t know what it is, but it’s so pretty. There’s the island straight ahead. Is that where we’re going? Yeah, it is indeed. I think the color makes all the difference. It really does. Paint the buildings nice. Oh, they’re a bit narrow these streets. Put some flowers. Yeah, they put effort. Film that blue sky. It’s probably the last time we’ll see it. I was filming the oil barrel, but Karen of Sullivan Bara oil. It’s probably Guinness. Look, we’ve made it to the Atlantic. Yes. There’s no way that cable car is going today. That must be the island down there. Yeah, but the road is scary. It is a bit. Hey, what are you doing here? What are you doing, pal? Careful. Careful. Is that it coming across? Do you see it? The island. Oh, the cable car. Yeah, I think so. It looks like a caravan and a wire. Quite busy here. It’s a windy old day, but it’s still operating. That surprises me actually. It’s not open just now. They’re closed for lunch. But let’s have a we see inside. Get out of that wind. And as you can see, it’s swinging like crazy. And we haven’t even left yet. But you can bring your dog. And it’s got a safe working load of six people or £1,200. This is pretty cool, isn’t it? And it’s unique. Did you know that this is the only cable car in Europe that crosses open seawater? And that is open seawater. So, let’s see now. The Dury Island cable car. Adults €10 for a return trip. Closed for lunch at the moment, but they’ll be open again in 20 minutes. Oh, I really hope I can get Alitia up that hill to go for a return trip. That’d be fun, wouldn’t it? When you’re down here waiting to go, you can pick up a coffee or some food. They’ve got local fresh fish from the pier to here. Monkfish, hake, hadock. Ah, you’re doing grand. How on earth is that thing open? And how are we going to be brave enough to go on board? Dury Island is listed as inhabited, but I don’t think it’s year round. But can certainly see why the cable car works better than boats. It doesn’t look like there’s many landing spots over there. Oh, bless her. She’s made it up the hill. I tell you what though, even if your knee was working, it’s maybe not the day to go hiking in the island today. Yeah, that’s good point. Yeah. And there it goes. The afternoon run has started. It doesn’t look stable at all. It’s all just wobbly. because at least you got radio if anything’s wrong. I don’t like this. You can feel the wind, can’t you? Yes. Not sure about this. [Music] No, I don’t want no toilet. [Music] Here’s the trailer. Stand down. Do you mind? [Music] Wait till I get off. It will be even worse. Right. You ready to go for a hike? Well, you can go and I will just sit here and enjoy the wind. The view from this side is spectacular, isn’t it? What a coastline. And I bet that during a good weather, you can really see the islands there. Is that the islands or is that the shore? You know what? I’ve got no idea. It’s funny though, even in this wind, it wasn’t that scary until you went through the two pylons. That was an experience. It was a bit shaky. Yeah, it’s good fun. It is good fun. Although, I wonder if this is a little waiting room or something. The sheep have been hanging about, that’s for sure. Oh, it is indeed. So, if it’s raining, you do have somewhere to hide away. On this side, we’ve got some spare parts in here. Those look like they’re off electricity pylons. We’ve got some sodium hypocchlorite, a brush to sweep away all the sheep’s business. And we’ve even got a phone. I’m just guessing I’m allowed in there. And there are quite a few cars on the island. Some of them have seen better days. I’m not sure how far this road goes, although it’s more a track than a road really. And if you make your way to the far side of the island, you can do some whale watching or take the mountain route right over the top. And when you look at this map, the island stretches so much further than you’d think from standing here. No wonder they’ve got cars. And that’s really interesting. I didn’t consider the geography of the island. Dury is the last place where the sun sets in Europe. On the 31st of December 1999, the island featured on worldwide television to mark the millennium. It smells like a sheep in here. And I’ve done my research over there. We’ve got Scarif Island to the left and Danish Island to the right. And just around the corner, you can’t see it from here, is Two-Headed Island. Two-headed island. I like that name. Two-headed. Yeah, it’s got two heads. The sheep there have got two heads. But the landscape around here on the island and on the mainland is just spectacular. Wonderful. Wonderful. That’s it. Coming back now. I’m going to try and film it going right over my head and then I’ll scoot back up there to the front of the queue. Right, let’s go. The race is on. Got to run like a sheep. This has to be more. The place was a mess. The sheep come down up the mountain at night with the shelter. All right. Oh, really? Yeah, that’s Oh, you have yourself a good scratch. We missed like three rides already. We were being uh good kind. Yes. Doing good deeds. It’s getting gusty. Yeah, a little bit. Mind the gap. Why is it wobbling so much? It’s a big smell. Scary bit down through the gaps. There are bright. You love this side. I prefer the other side. I think the cliffs on the other side are much cooler passing away behind us. [Music] We still got the drive to do. Well, you do. [Music] Hear the wind. [Music] Oh, that was fun, eh? It was good. And it would be good to go for a walk around the island if you can. Yes. I couldn’t, but I would like to get yourself in a wee pod. That’s better. Yeah. We’re just waiting for our cake. Hake. I thought you ordered cake. I’m going down to that rock. I’ll take the camera with me. Okay. hood up just so I don’t lose Filson. Why are you putting window cleaner on your fish? Great. Get to the pod. Yes. Thanks, guys. Thank you. Bye-bye. You have the salad, all the fish and chips. Yeah. Is that how it goes? I’m having a salad and half of fish. This might actually blow away. That’s better. And as the cable car passes right over our heads, we can get tucked into this. Enjoy, honey. Is this cheese? This is cheese on the salad. This is cheese on the salad. I thought it was uh carrots. First taste of hake if it doesn’t fly away. Verdict. That’s lovely. It’s very delicate, isn’t it? Yeah. Mhm. And whoever invented cheesy salad, they’re a genius. Boy, the whole place is shaking. So better than eating in a car. We’re so huddled. Lucky. It’s not going to fall over. It’s okay. We’re so huddled up here. You wouldn’t think it’s summer, would you? That’s actually a really nice fish. But now I’m thinking, should have been braver and gone for the monk fish. Never tried that before either. It just looked a bit scary. But that’s what people say about you and they still watch you. Sometimes these little vans at tourist attractions, you’re not sure what to expect. But this fish is seriously fresh and it is beautiful. I think that’s what it is. It’s so delicate because it’s very fresh. Yeah. Yeah. Cardboard doesn’t come off. As we finish off this fish and chips, I’ve got to say that’s one of the best I think I’ve ever had. Oo, wow. Seriously. I would say the fish because the chips. Well, the fries. Yeah, they’re just fries, but the fish. Yeah. Wow. Hello. Oh no, we’ve dropped everything. This wind. Okay, let’s I’m making such a mess. Guys, that was fantastic. Thank you so much. Thank you very much. Thank you. Oh, there is a we bus that comes down here, too. [Music] Hi, Pierre. You know, they did a lobster roll for 25 quid and you kind of wonder what it would be like because that was so so good. Yeah, but with the lobster roll, you get the salad and the chips as well. And I think that’s not too bad, you know, cuz lobster roll can be really expensive. I guess before we start driving, we should see where we’re going. Eh, so we are right down here. We’re going to go back up towards Castle Town Bear and then we’ll turn left and our accommodation is at Art Groom. I can’t believe this is 80 km an hour limit here. Yeah, that’s the craziest. It should be like 20. Yep. I’m glad this isn’t my car. The views from this coastline are just spectacular. If only I could find the right gear. Eh. Oh, can we pick him up? What are you doing? Why are you going on the side of the road? Be careful. This is no more than a one-way road as we’re about to see right now. And they put a line in the middle. Just as well. I’ve got full insurance on this rental car. And let’s also hope the road doesn’t get any narrower than this. Yeah, that’s what I’m worrying about. We’re driving to our accommodation now. Checkin is at 5:00 and it’s only 4:00 at the moment. So, that’s made us decide to take the longer route in the hope that it’s a scenic route. We don’t really know. We’ve only seen it on Google Maps, but we’ll give it a shot. And also hoping there’s a we shop on the way cuz we need some supplies. Hey, it looks like a scene already. Wo! Oh, it’s beautiful. Good choice. Wow. Ireland just seems so different from anywhere else. I don’t know what it is, the colors, the landscape, but you certainly know when you’re there. Cute. This is some road. It’ll be nice when it’s finished. Down the other side we go. It’s nice having a car in front of us. Right. Stopped for us. Good lord. 2 and a half miles. The destination is on your right, C Villa. I This is us in Argroom, which is the village where our accommodation is, but I think we’re actually a bit out of town. That’s our villa. I’m Mary. Hi, Mary. Look at the flowers. They’re beautiful. Alicia. Alisha and John. Hello, John. Oh my god. Are you okay? Oh, I just I fell two days ago. We were in the Scottish islands and Wes them. They’re giving us a we welcome drink. Cheers. Cheers. That makes me feel better already. Glad to hear it. I hope you don’t mind I’m finishing your drink. You go for it. Maybe it’s better that I’m not drinking as I’m driving tonight. Yeah, they stay the same. I slept for about what 3 hours. I was out cold. Seriously. And it’s now 20 8 which means it’s far too late to get anything to eat. But we can still get something to drink. Let’s go. I love how it says drive on the left. There is no left or right. It’s just the middle cuz that’s the village in and I think that’s the only pub in town. I always do this. I instantly forget the name of the place we are. But this is it. Hey, you’re walking a bit better. Thanks. I’ll be walking better after a beer. I’ll be dancing after a beer. Let’s go into this we store because I think it closes at 9:00. Grab something before we go to the pub. Like a sandwich. Yeah, just something. Brandy. Brandy, leave the cat alone. The cat just doesn’t care. It’s funny. See, when you look at a map of Ireland, like this part of the country, Everything looks so close together, but you’ve just got to go in and out in all these little roads. So, it takes hours, doesn’t it? Is that all there is to do around here? Chase the cat. Yay. Hello. You’re my friend. You keep this cat in order. I know. Oh, no. There’s not much to this town, but the fact that they’ve painted all the houses, it just makes it look so nice. Here we are at the hub of the community, the village in. Welcome. Hello. Hello. Don’t drop it. Yay. Freezing cold. Oh, wow. So it is we’ve not got a proper poured pint because neither of us can drink alcohol right now. It’s got the widget thing in it. So you can’t fail. Don’t worry. Cheers, honey. Cheers. Yes. Don’t worry. The potatoes. See, I share. I’m selfish. Here comes the rain. We’re here all day tomorrow as well, but the forecast is looking like it’s going to be a wet one. We should maybe ask our hosts and they’ll have some idea for what to do on a rainy day. But yeah, cheers. Thank you. Thank you. Bye. Falling out the pub. Would you look at this? They’ve left us a we night cap. How sweet is that? I’ll give you the look here and I will have the whiskey. Cheers. Cheers. And once again to you. by the soft. [Music] Look at all this stuff. Can even have bucks fizz with our breakfast. Wow. Happy. Very happy. This is your White. Oh yeah. White pudding. Black pudding. Bacon sausage and egg. And you’ve gone for the salmon, scrambled eggs. Look at this on the side. What a day. We’ve dashed to the car. Mary and John, who we stayed with, the most perfect hosts you could imagine. They let us out the back door so we could just rush to the car. We still got soaked though. Right. What are we going to do? I think we’ll head back towards Cork, but along the Skibberine Road. We’ll go that way and visit a couple of places and see what we can do on a rainy day in West Cork. Let’s go bye. Goodbye. Sea Villa. Highly recommended. If you want a proper beautiful Irish welcome, get yourself to Sea Villa. Wow. You can see nothing today. Wow. Yeah. We were thinking to do the Ring of Kerry today, but just the weather, you’re not going to see much. It’s not worth it. We can come back and do that at some point in the future. And also, John, our host, was saying that we’d come back next time and go out in his boat. So, that would be amazing. Be amazing, wouldn’t it? It would be great. Oh, I hope Ry’s not out chasing the cat. It’s our little pup from yesterday. Goodbye, our groom. Thanks for the weather. Just imagine this place in a sunny day. Would be amazing. But then I would be gutted that we can’t go for a hike. So Exactly. Exactly. What are you filming? Super Value. Look the shops. It’s all just painted on. None of them are real. Hey, it’s cool. Oh, I love that. Oh, come on. Go, go, go. narrow streets. Cool town. Yeah. I’m so bored. Me, too. I’ve had enough of driving. I think the next town we just stop, go for a walk, even if it’s raining. We’re in Kona Kilty and over on the right hand side there’s Kona Kilty Black Pudding Visitor Center. That’s cool. So there we go. In a rainy day in West Cork, you go to the Black Pudding Visitor Center. It’s what you’ve always dreamed of, isn’t it? Hey, it was the first thing you could see arriving to the town. So, but there’s the Blackpudding boardroom. You’re laughing, but it’s a big company. So, they did. I always promised you that one day I’d bring you here. [Music] So, potatoes, two pound, pound and a half of onions and the carrots and your change. Thank you. So, is this your first time being in chronic guilty? Well, I hope you have a great time. Thank you very much. Oh, it’s a picture shop. [Music] Who’s the guy behind you? Sorry, your meat looks a bit past it sell by date from just like me at work. I can’t get the till. Look at that per oven load. 11,760 black puddings. If you come here in the morning, there’s viewing areas and you can actually watch them making the black puddings and the white puddings. There’s guys working down there just now, but they’re just cleaning the machines in the afternoon. Ingredients: onions, secret spices, oats, and beef. When they said we’d get samples, I didn’t expect this. It’s like breakfast again. So, we’ve got black pudding, white pudding, veggie, white pudding, veggie sausage rolls, and some bacon and sausages. So, when I lived in Spain, we had morphia, which is black pudding you would have with onion. Uh-huh. Back home in Scotland, we’ve got Storway black pudding. And you’ve got black pudding as well. What’s it called? We do. Um, kashanka. Kashanka. And you eat it more like in the Spanish way with onions. Yeah, like a barbecue sausage. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. And now we’ve tried Konakulty black pudding. and white pudding. And you said, “What’s next?” Ice cream. Please go the ice cream factory. I know nothing’s going to beat it. Black pudding, but we’re going to go for a wee wander around Kona Kilty in the rain. And we’re starting with two churches. A small one on the right and a pretty big one on the left. What’ you say? This is the post office. Oh, that’s a nice post office. at the ceiling. [Music] Let’s see if we can get into the Roman Catholic Church. Hi, that is a cool van. The altars with its mosaics and stained glass windows is absolutely beautiful. As is that wooden ceiling. I tell you what, it’s got some capacity. And meanwhile, outside the heavens have opened. It might be raining, but at least they put the flags out for us. In another very colorful town, this [Music] I think it’s a wedding. I I can’t deny it. It’s a lovely place, but the weather really has put a dampener on things. If it was a sunny day, we’d just be feeling so different about it, wouldn’t we? I’m calling it now, folks. I could live there. And look what you’ve got. They’ve given us two spoons, but I’ve got a feeling this is all for me. What flavors you got? Mint and vanilla. You always slack me off for getting vanilla. Vanilla is plain. You’re with my ice cream. It stopped raining. And the sun is coming out. I’m a lucky charm. Yes, you are. This pup is so pretty. And if the footage is wobbly, that’s me walking. Is that a pub? I think so. It’s nice. I like the Guinness sign. Why are these houses so small? They are tiny. They’ll be good for me. Take the first exit. Yeah. I wonder if he remembered to put diesel in. That’s us at the airport and we forgot to say goodbye, but this video is so bad that we’re just going to do it right here, right now. Thank you so much for watching and we’ll see you next time. Bye-bye. Thanks for watching. Thank you for your attention. [Music]
It’s a wobbly, creaky little ride over to Dursey Island and it’s unique in Europe, so we just had to give a go. But would we find it? Would it even be open? Yes, not the best of the summer weather so no guarantees! And the less said about the next day the better 😀 Enjoy the video…

Thanks for watching, it means a lot to me 🙂
I do ALL of this myself. Planning, filming, editing, promoting, all with a weekly upload schedule, so please understand not every video will be an epic adventure. But my pledge is to always do my best in any situation and KEEP THE CAMERA ROLLING 🙂

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up (in which case, likely to be Tuesday at 10am)
WHY IS THERE A DELAY BETWEEN TRIP AND VIDEO APPEARING?
This is the reality of a weekly upload schedule, coupled with doing everything myself and sticking to a budget. Often I need to film 3-4 videos in one trip to make it cost-effective and that means a queue for the Saturday morning slot. This is just part of YouTube life I’m afraid, but I will only upload something if it still has value for you as a viewer. Please also remember I’m a regular guy with all the responsibilities of life and this can sometimes mean I need to keep emergency videos for times when that life gets in the way!
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc. I also have a DJI Pocket 3 (bigger sensor) for nighttime, although I’m still getting to grips with it.
WHY DON’T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I’m afraid – time and money! Hotel prices especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman. Also my weekly upload schedule means I need to keep on the move.
WHERE’S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature whenever possible, but she has her own life and a 9-5 job so it can take a while for our schedules to match up. Trust me though, I prefer it when She is there too!
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I’ve only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It’s my income, I can’t do this for free. Notice I don’t have mid-roll ads though!
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you’d like to support further, I’ll pop links in here for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don’t like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don’t even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I’m open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don’t want to get into talking about products, it’s something I don’t like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for YouTube Premium). So it’s probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

There will be a midweek bonus video this coming week – look out for it on Tuesday 10am UK time! Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
Ireland is beautiful, all the colourful houses and friendly people. Did a bustour back in 98; Dublin-Galway-C o M- Ring of K- Killarney-Cork- Blarney-Waterford-D. Unfortunately not been back since.
Black pudding (never white) is also common in Sweden, called blodkorv, (blood sausage) and served with sugar and lingon. Sometimes caramelized onions. Although never for breakfast. Only lunch or dinner as full meal.
Very nice video.
That cable car didn't look scary.
After watching your video of the cable car in Sinaia, Romania from a few years ago. That convinced me to go there when I visited Bucharest in 2023. I did that as a day trip instead of Brasov.
That cable car scared the life out of me!!!
Good video as always 👍
Steve, Not sure you will see this. Loved your cruise to NY and love to see the food as that's a big part of the journey. Some advice for you as I noticed you stayed at the Hilton and paid a lot. Nowadays credit cards offer great deals like 60,000 miles credit and a free night annually at Hiltons Marriots and Hyatts with $100 annual fee. So pick one, Hyatt has the lowest cost deals internationally in miles it seems. With all your travels, flowing your costs though the cards and paying off as you go will lead to many many free nights at lux hotels. You are wasting money my friend. And no, I do not work for any card company! LOL. Its great that you spoil Alicja, her enthusiasm is contagious. Start taking advantage of airline and card club miles and freebies. If you pool your incomes you may qualify for these sporadic free offers. Free nights at 4 stars are yours!
Steve, Next time you and Alicja hit New York, try a walk around icomic neighborhoods like crosstown on West 4th Street and over to Scribners and NYU bookstore aroudnd Soho and Greenwich village. You can also stay in Long Island City Hyatt Hilton Marriott a short subway ride to midtown, where 51st and Lexington offers access to the shopping concourse in the lovely Citigroup skyscraper. Walks along Lexington Avenue and 3rd Avenue are very pleasant and offer a variety of restaurants and interesting architecture, including a great Cosmopolitan (the drink) at the Waldorf. You should check out the Statue of Lierty on Liberty Island. Food a bit poor and overpriced but great parks and views from Liberty island (skip Ellis, its like a giant hospital. There are also many great places to eat and beautiful neighborhoods on the east side (use Google maps, click on restaurants after choosing any local directions (only works for car not walk) and click on them to see more. You alos missed Central Park, a wonder (ut never after dark!) Hope you see this. Always fun when you take us on your journeys.
Alicja sending best wishes the knee must o been fair sore so soon after you fell. Might have been wet and windy but still looked beautiful
I love that "drive on the left" sign for us, Yanks Steve. Wonderful video. Thank you both for taking us along.
The cars have "seen better days" because the offshore islands are exempt from the NCT (National Car Test – our equivalent of the MOT) because there are no test centres there and they couldn't make you ship it to the mainland every year for a test, plus you'd be doing very well to get up to too dangerous a speed. So the islanders buy cars that can't pass a test, for next to nothing on the mainland, and ship them out.
You may have eaten monkfish (when it was unwanted it was often sold as scampi)
We did this trip with visitors who were staying with us in the late '70s. This was before the cable car was updated, revamped, etc. The other wife and I looked at it and said 'no way'. The husbands were disappointed, they said, I have my doubts, and the kids were easily bribed with an icecream. So we never did get to Dursey Island.
Alicja, those orange flowers, montebritia. It grows like a weed around here!
There are ruins of a church on the island, it has about 30 graves all with the same surname. Its quite a sight.
Petrol station, Steve, c’mon you’re not a Yank 👌
I didn't realise I was hungry till I saw those breakfasts — wow! And you are so lucky to be with Alicja!
Probably your most enjoyable video yet, thank you both.
It's good to see Alicja up and about.
I never imagined that Clonakilty is so pretty.
But I was anticipating that you might stop in Kinsale and vists the Charles Fort.
An amazing trip on this this Cable Car 😊😊
West Cork is full of treasures, Healy pass, Dzogen beara, The Emo Experience, Lough Hyne, Mizen Head, Barley Bay, and Bantry Bay,
"I like the Guiness sign ". The other sign falls over crestfallen.😂
Great video, but you were driving WAY too fast on some of those roads. I lived in West Cork, and I like a bit of speed myself – but honest to God, you had the heart crossways in me watching you! The fact that other drivers were driving into the ditch to avoid hitting you showed you were going faster than you should have been.
Steve, have you ever had Brown Bread Icecream? If not, than the next time your in Dublin city or Dingeal, Co Kerry, you should visit Murphy's Icecream shop. If you want to that falvour of Icecream.
I loved this video. It was interesting, humorous, well done. I find I especially like and rewatch your trips to the Scottish islands, Ireland, N. Ireland, and unusual places around Scotland. The rest are great too, but I really enjoy these more. Please keep making them. You do an excellent job with filming, editing, and adding funny comments even when things go wrong. So positive!
Hi
At 6:30 when you meet the old dog , the next house around the bend is my grandparents , Kelly’s (not filmed😢)
I spent my summers in Beara as a kid
I have many cousins still there
Cable car hasn’t changed in 50 years
Must make a trip again soon 👍
I cannot believe you did not get a wheelchair for her at the airport Steve
Your gonna have to come back to cork lads. Ye got such bad luck with the weather as it's been a beautiful summer over here. West cork is absolutely stunning all year round but particularly when the weather is nice.
It was a wonderful video, the houses all look so pretty. Gorgeous scenery, shame about the weather!
One of my favourite places in my beautiful country. Did the crossing twice – 2009 & 2024. I asked the Cable Car Technican a few questions. They have a sign that says the Car will not operate in Storm Force 8 winds – so I asked him – do you go in Storm Force 7 Winds? 'Of Course we do!' – Great spot!!!!
Love the videos Steve…..keep up the great work! How can I email you please.
