✨I had such a fun time exploring this village. Every street feels alive with shades of red, orange, and yellow. What I loved most was walking the Ochre Trail right next to the village. It’s a short and easy hike, but the scenery looks completely different from anywhere else in Provence. You can choose between a short ~30 min loop or a longer ~1h one, and you wander between bright cliffs, winding paths, and rock formations that almost look like a desert canyon.

🎨 Roussillon actually sits on one of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, and for years it was used as natural pigment. That’s why all the houses here follow the same warm tones, the whole village looks like it’s been painted to match the cliffs.

🗺️ Practical tip: Roussillon is about 20 minutes from Gordes or a little over an hour from Aix-en-Provence. You can park right outside the center and walk everywhere easily.

✨ If you can, try to visit in the late afternoon, the colors at sunset are even more striking.
