🇫🇷One of France’s Most Picturesque Villages: Saignon • Subscribe for more bucket list destinations
🇫🇷Just when I thought Provence couldn’t surprise me anymore…
🌿 Saignon is one of those hilltop villages in the Luberon that feels almost secret. Perched above Apt, it has a quiet charm—stone streets, pastel shutters, and peaceful little squares where time seems to pause.
⛰️ I climbed up to the old fortifications that once served as a lookout point in Charlemagne’s time, and the views were just breathtaking—rolling hills, patchwork fields, and the rooftops of Provence unfolding endlessly below. It’s no wonder this spot was chosen for its vantage.
💧What I loved most, though, was the fountain in the heart of the village. Surrounded by stone houses and shaded by plane trees, its gentle trickle feels like the soul of Saignon—a gathering place for centuries, and the perfect spot to pause and soak in the atmosphere.
🗺️Easily reachable by car: about 1 hour from Aix-en-Provence and approx. 1 hour from Avignon. There’s parking near the village entrance, and from there it’s a short walk up to the main square and fountain.
✨Would you add Saignon to your Provence trip?
📌Save this for your next French adventure, you won’t want to miss it. 🌿✨
