FINED For Staying On A Campsite… The UK Is Getting Ridiculous!
[Music] For the past 3 years, we’ve been living full-time on the road with our three kids, usually splitting our time between the UK and mainland Europe. But this year, we’re doing things a little bit differently because we’ve set ourselves a challenge to drive the entire coastline of Great Britain, hoping to uncover some amazing little gems, as well as exploring some popular seaside hotspots. After a false start at Lworth Cove, we officially kicked off our tour at Portland Bill Lighthouse. moving clockwise through Dorset and Devon before tackling the famous tight roads of Cornwall. Not long after, we had wound our way round to Wales and its breathtaking beaches. And now we’re exploring the quiet coastlines of Cumbria. Last week, we finally struck gold with an epic park up. And now we’re excited to see what other treasures this incredible coastline has in store for us. Ho ho ho in a bott of rum. Welcome back, guys, from Captain’s House on the west coast of Cumbria. Now, if you didn’t see last week’s video, we couldn’t get parked in the main air. So, we ended up parking here in this field, which was absolutely fantastic, except it rained last night, and we now have to get off. Well, that went well. We got a full ride, didn’t we? But we’re now on the road. We are heading to St. Bees. It’s about 25 miles and it’s going to take us around 45 minutes. [Music] Well, [Music] that’s a lovely tight. [Music] Well, we’ve just arrived at our campsite. We’ve checked in and we’ve been told where our pitch is. So, we’re just now trying to get onto our pitch. We were told and online it says it was uh 9.4 m the pitches. We’re 9 m. So, we came here very, very positive that we’re going to fit on, but it does look like it’s going to be a bit of a squeeze. I think we’ll be all right. Yeah. No, we’ll be fine. But I think we were going to reverse in, but I think we’re going to drive in now and see how we fit. Yeah, we got to go forwards cuz then we get a C view. Yes, that’ll be nice. We are. And there we go. I think I will just straighten up a little bit, but effectively we are on. Good, good, good, good. Well, that’s us all pitched up. We are staying at Seco Touring Park, which you’ll be able to see right behind me there. We just started walking up this hill. I’m already out of breath, but those pitches were okay to get on to in the end. At least the one we chose or got allocated. Pitch number one is where we’re staying. So, we’re heading out. We’re in St. Bees and we’re heading out to do the headland walk. And the mission today is to try and find a smuggler’s cove. There is one here, but we’ve got to go up and down to find it. Piper’s just gone. Oh no. She spotted the big hill we’ve got to climb up now. Oh, time to get that energy. Yep. Blackberry to boost your A little blackberry boost will help. Well, I think we’ve made it to the highest point and we’ve come into all this sea mist. Which wasn’t forecasted. It should be bright sunshine right now. But you can run. Yeah, go. Just wait at the gate for us. Okay, that’s Teddy leading us, leading the way. And at some point we need to find a path back down to this hidden beach, hidden cove. [Music] Well, we just caught eyes of the beach just down there. It looks quite good, doesn’t it? through like the the sea mist. It looks pretty amazing. It does. There’s people down there as well. Well, that means we can definitely get down. Yeah, that’s a good sign. So, we can only really just about see it cuz it is quite misty. But at least it’s quite spooky, especially because this is a smuggler’s beach. Sets the tone. It does. [Music] Ted K. Now, we didn’t actually bring anything with us, but there’s litter already around here. Have a look dotted about stuff. Oh, stuff here. Look. Look at this. Yeah. Here. I found Oh, here. Look. It actually looks like someone has collected the litter over there. It does look like that. Yeah. Oh, we’re going to have to walk that way. We’re going to have to cross over this little swamp land. Yeah, it looks like someone’s collected a bit. Well done to whoever that is. Unfortunately, what happens actually on uh these sort of secluded beaches is you just get that accumulation of litter. And because it’s so inaccessible, it’s very difficult to actually get down here and get it done. What they want to do is team up with the local farmers to have tractors and stuff at the top. Big litter pit cuz there is loads of this. Absolutely loads. Look at this. [Music] Just behind me here is some old graffiti. Let’s have a look. It says Spencer and something. Feversfield or something. 1886. And slide down. So, it’s 150 year old graffiti left by probably the smugglers. Oh, wow. Have a look at this. So, this is 1988, so it’s more recent. I thought the graffiti and the smuggler story would be good enough for this beach, but look at that. Look how dramatic that is. And I think the sea mist, as we said earlier, this sea mist is just adding to the atmosphere. That is just incredible. [Music] I wonder what stories this place would have to tell. Absolutely beautiful. And I love this type of rock. The way it’s all is layered on each other. [Music] [Applause] These are the old winches. These might have either been I don’t know. I reckon these were on the beach and these is what they used to winch the old boats up. Really? But look at the erosion. Look at the erosion on that. The sand and the waves have literally just eroded that down. And now it looks like a rock. It does. How strange. How amazing. Really absolutely incredible. They’ve been here for that long. It’s actually really lovely just sitting here on the beach. We’re the only ones here and it’s just so relaxing. I know the weather doesn’t look like it’s the best and it’s probably not showing off the best on camera, but it is nice and warm and if it’s warm, that’s all I need. So, it’s quite nice. And the tide’s now going out. So, we’re starting to see more of these winches or whatever they are showing up on the shore. [Music] I want to see you again. I want to see you again. I want to see you. [Music] We’re now just heading back and I had a split second of disorientation when I looked out, but we are now this is an inversion of of cloud. We’re above the fog. Look at that. So, you can see the bit of land above the the cloud. This is an inversion. I think that’s what they call it. Anyway, there’s no cloud mist at all anywhere we where we are. It’s just literally out in front. That is absolutely sensational. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Right, it is about 8:00 now. The kids have just gone to bed. They’ve got a bit of reading time before they need to go to sleep. We’re going to relax now. So, we’re going to pop down the table, make our bed, and watch a little bit of Netflix. [Music] morning. It’s a much nicer day today. The sun is shining and we have temperatures of up to 24° expected for this afternoon. So, we are now on our way out. We are going to White Haven. Uh we were planning to catch the train. So, we’re on our way to the train station, but there are rail replacements on today. So, we’re actually going to be getting a coach. So, it’s going to take us a little bit longer to get there, but still only about 30 minutes. Let me hear you say [Music] now, slide to the shine, shine, shine like [Music] So, we’ve just arrived in White Haven. We’re down at the harbor, but the water is unusually bright orange, which is so strange. The reason it’s orange is tests have shown that this is flood water of iron orca or okra, however you like it. I don’t know. Um, but yeah, it’s not looking nice and the community has raised their frustrations as well cuz it’s not looking good for this Georgian town. And it’s probably not doing good for these boats in here as well, I would imagine. It is. And it’s only been that way since 2022. So it’s not a massively long period of time, but it’s as a result they think from the mines that are in the area. So obviously there’s a lot of mining in the area and then something to do with those mines and groundwater has done this all contaminated. Wonder what is having an impact on the ecosystem. Yeah. [Music] So, we’re now just having a walk around the harbor cuz I think you can walk all the way around. So, that’ll be quite nice. But, I have just spotted some motor homes just on that side there. So, I’m guessing that you can stay the night here. I’ll have to look it up. And if you can, and you’re allowed to, I’ll put it on screen for you guys. Unfortunately, according to search for sites, it is just daytime parking only. The maritime port of White Haven was once the third largest in the UK with trade links all over the world and it was also the site of the first and only American invasion of British mainland back in 1778, ironically by Scottishborn Paul Jones of the Continental Navy. [Music] So, if you are feeling extra energetic and you’re a bit fitter than we are, you can actually do a coastal walk from St. Bees all the way to here at White Haven. I believe it is about a 6 and 1 half mile walkway. [Music] Ah, the harbor is absolutely beautiful, especially on a day like today. But it’s now lunchtime and our bellies are hungry. So, we’re going to find some fish and chips. We haven’t had fish and chips in quite a long time. It feels like a long time anyway. Uh, and uh the caravan parked next to us at St. Bees has recommended a place called Frasers. So, we’re going to check that out right now. [Music] Well, the goods have arrived. I went for the Scampion chips and I got went for a happy meal. Ken wants to show you his little lunchbox. Sausage and chips for the boys. What have you got, babe? I went for salt and pepper squid. So, it’s very hot at the moment. Looks good though. The chips are good. What have you got? Got some mozzarella. No, halumi sticks, right? Halumi fries. Um, and some just normal chips. The double fries. Halumi fries and normal fries. Yeah. Nice. Let’s dig in. We’ve actually just swapped table cuz it was too sunny and too hot, weren’t it, guys? Too warm inside. It’s typical. We’ve had all this awful weather the first day of sun. We’re like, “Get us out of the sun. We’re melting.” Well, that fish and chip shop was absolutely amazing. Those chips we’ve just decided. Yeah, they were the best so far on this trip. So, Frasers, White Haven, if you want great chips, fantastic chips, top of our ranking list, those are I know that’s quite difficult. So, if you know any other good fish and chip shops, let us know. Obviously, obviously not the places we’ve already been. Yeah. And it has to be on the coast, but if you’re on the coast and know a fish and chip shop and you think it’s going to go be better than this one, then let us know in the comments. Okay, our next stop in White Haven is the rum story. So, this connects back to yesterday when we were down on that smuggler’s cove. We are now going to find out all about the history of smuggling in this particular area. [Music] The rum story in White Haven doesn’t just explain how rum is made, but it also takes visitors through the full journey from the sugarcane fields in the Caribbean and slavery to shipping, trade, and life in Georgian White Haven. This is really cool. So, this is Antigga, which is part of the Caribbean. The Antigga rainforest. Is that why? So, we’re now in the cellars. This is where they used to keep all the food and drink. And this is not just sort of any museum. This is actually this actually was Jefferson’s office. This was the Jefferson’s building. So this is where all the rum would have been kept. It’s quite amazing really. [Music] So yeah, this would go around their waist and this arms and and legs. I’m not sure what these ones were for, but Oh, don’t do that, Jack. Get out of the They’ve also got these two rooms here. This one’s got a little bit more lighting, but not much. And none of us are brave enough to have a little look. Dad went in there. No, you didn’t put the other one in there. Get out your phone. No, you didn’t. Put your torch off. But it’s basically showing you the conditions of the slave ship. Oh, Jack’s braving it with a torch. See if we can see anything. Oh, that’s horrible. He looks horrible. Oh, that is quite scary. But these illustrations show you how jam-packed the slave ships were back in the day. Absolutely horrendous conditions. [Music] So this is the giant Jefferson barrel which could hold 7,819 L of rum with a value today of a quarter of a million pounds. [Music] Okay, here we go. We might learn a little bit about the smuggling that happened here. So smuggling was considered less a crime so much as a natural activity in many coastal parts of Britain. Often an extension of fishing. Most members of the community would be in the act. Their business coordinated in local ins where sellers would provide ample storage space for conc. A long sparsely populated Cumbri coastline was ideal for smuggling with much activity centered around the aisle of man the warehouse of frauds. The much lower duties paid in the island encouraged Cumbrian smugglers to buy goods there and smuggle them back to mainland. Ah, that makes sense. Well, there we go then. So, the smuggling coming into Cumbria didn’t come from the Caribbean and Antigga. It would have actually come from the aisle of man. Yeah. And then what do they do with the rum? Drink it. No, they wouldn’t steal the rum. The rum would go to the aisle of man. Yeah. And they would pay a lower duty so the rum would be cheaper. This place is honestly incredible. I never realized and you would never think that one drink would have so much of a story to it, but there is so much to learn about rum here. And it’s really fun, too. Really interactive for the kids. Loads of fun parts and loads of educational information as we go around. And well, that’s a site for Sor. Rick’s getting changed. What’s this? What in the world? What is this? It’s like my dreams, babe. Huh? This is like your dreams can be arranged, my love. Dad, do you know what this is? Look at this. Yay. Yo ho ho, Piper. Come on. They must have a night pirate patch. There we go. What a look. How are you doing? You need a pirate accent. I need a pirate accent. Get your clothes off, my love. There we go. Even better already, my love. Oh, ho ho in a b of r. Right, guys, we have arrived back in the lorry at St. Beast. We’ve had to quickly pop open all of the windows because it is 31° in here. So, we have summer back, which is great, but it is absolutely sweltering at the same time. We got the coach back. That coach wasn’t so great. The seats were really narrow. Actually, it was slightly different. But we had a quick drink at the Seco Pub. I think it’s called that Seco Pub. But this is what I’ve got for this evening because I couldn’t come away from the rum story, which was absolutely brilliant, without some rum of my own. So, we nipped into Tesco’s as well to grab some Pepsi Max. So, I’m going to enjoy a nice rum and Coke this evening. It’s half past 2 in the morning, guys, and the ravers have just turned up. A car has just pulled up on the beach. Literally on the beach. I don’t even think there’s a road there, but they’ve somehow managed to get a car there. I’m just blaring out music. It’s woke me up. Anyway, I don’t think it’ll be long until the police come and move them on, but at least they’re playing some good music. Well, luckily the drama last night didn’t actually go on for too long, and they kind of made a bit of an abrupt exit. I don’t think they were moved on because we didn’t see any police or anything, but for some reason, they decided to just go, so it wasn’t too bad. had a little bit disrespectful obviously parking up next to a campsite and blaring your music incredibly loud at 2:00 in the morning. But anyway, it’s done now. Uh we managed to get back to sleep. Okay, so this morning we are actually just getting ready to leave. We are making use of the facilities here. We’re all having showers. We’ve decided to have showers in the lorry because we had a little sneak peek at the showers on site and they’re actually not very clean. They’re all mucky. So, we thought we’re better off just filling up the tank, all having showers whilst we’re here. So, we’re going to do that. Rick’s just in there now. The rest of us are all sorted, and then we’re going to empty the bins, fill up on water, uh just completely freshen up, so we’re good to hit the road. And then we’re going to be driving 1 hour um to go and spend a little bit of time at a seaside town called Stillith. Uh-huh. Yeah. Oh yeah. [Music] It’s time to start. Well, we’re on the road a little bit later than planned. It’s gone lunchtime and we haven’t had lunch. But we got uh we got an hour’s drive, 32 mi. Shouldn’t be too bad. But we just need to get out of St. V. Some of these roads are a little bit tight. We went on these roads on the coach yesterday, so I do know roughly what they’re like. And I know how many times the co the coach had to sort of stop to let people pass. So, and it’s a busy section as well. If the coach can come down here, we can go down here. [Music] Yeah. We’re going to live a good life. Yeah. We’re going to do it all night. Well, we decided we’d quickly stop off at Morrison’s because we hadn’t had our lunch and take advantage of their kids eat free offer, which was very delicious. We all had a lovely meal. So, now we’re going to hit the road again and finally get to Sllith. I think we’ve got 40 minutes. 40 minutes to go, isn’t it? 40 minutes to go, but we need to get fuel. Oh, okay. And it says on my truck sat now that I can get fuel here. Going to have to stretch your neck to have a look at that one, babe. Yeah, I know. What does it say? It’s 46. Is that good? Yeah, that’s perfect. But it says way there. That’s air and back. Still all pretty tight actually. You going to do it or is it a bad idea or? Well, I got four six head room. It says it’s This is the thing with my truck. Satnav says this is truck fuel. You can get truck fuel here, but I think that’s just because of my height. It’s going to be a bit of a tight squeeze getting out of there. I’m going to give uh that fuel a miss. Just a bit tight to get in and out of there. Uh, right. Here we go. Uh, fuel save truck, which we do actually have Shell app. Not sure how good it is, but gives us a little bit of discount or something. I think off coffee actually. Really? Yeah. Anyway, let’s go fill this bad boy up. [Music] [Music] We’ve just driven through Beckoot on the north north corn that’s what they call north Cumbrian uh coast. And we were actually recommended by someone to actually spend the night in one of the layby there. Um, which look absolutely fantastic and free free of charge. It’s a bit of a wild camp. Um, but we’re actually going to push on. We got another nice stop planned, but recommend that one. It looks lovely. There’s campers up there as well. There’s literally campers everywhere. There we go. We’ve just arrived in Silith. This is actually a town where we once considered buying a house. Buying a do buying buying a do a rapper. Yeah. I actually forgot about that. Yeah. Actually genuinely that was crazy. That was before we sold up to travel full-time. We were actually thinking of doing a little renovation. One of these. It was one in the center. It was one of these somewhere cuz the streets down here are all cobbled cobbled streets. So, it’s all a bit wobbly, but yeah, looking forward to having another look around this place. House we looked at was near the church there. I’m not going to lie, this place does look really, really beautiful today. It looks amazing. Looks really, really nice. It looks fun. It does look fun. I’ll just make sure we’re in. Not sure if we are. Yeah, we’re fine. I’ll just get a bit closer to the curb, but we are fine here. We can go explore for a couple of hours. [Music] Well, this is our last proper coastal stop in England before we cross the border into Scotland. And we can actually see Scotland just across the Soulway at the moment. So, we’re going to have a little bit of a blast here. have a little go of some amusements, grab oursel an ice cream, have a little bit of fun, and then we can push on to tonight’s park up. [Music] Rick is trying his best to convince me that he has to buy some donuts purely so that he can rate them for you guys, you know, purely. Absolutely. That’s the only reason. We’re doing it for you guys. I hope you understand. Once he said, I don’t know if anyone else has like this, but once we’ve said we want something to eat, we then like have to have to buy it, don’t we? We’re like committed to don’t mention it. Don’t mention it. Don’t mention it. As soon as it’s mentioned, you’re buying it, aren’t you? We’re committed. So, I have to go get some now. And I’ll give you the rating. Okay. For you guys, they are really hot. [Music] Oh, they’re good. That’s a solid nine out of 10. Does it beat Blackpool though? The Blackpool donuts. I want to know your top. I think it does. Yeah. Yeah. So that means that Cumbria is now home to on our trip anyway. The best chips and the best. And the best donuts. Cumbria. You’re winning. That’s why we lived in Cumbria. Cumbria is winning. [Music] What do you go for, Jack? 10 out of 10. What do you say? 10 out of 10. Oh, well, what is it? What have you got? Uh, I got biscotta glory. Biscoff, nicer bottle glory. And Ted’s got the same. Me and Pip BTO. Big Joe, I thought you doing some Instagram shot. And no one get in the comments and telling telling me how greedy I am. Everyone’s got an ice cream, too, cuz I know you’ve been accused of not sharing lately. Me? Yeah. What? Our Black video, people said thought you didn’t actually share the donuts, but we did. I did share the donuts. I’m a good sharer. I just don’t want to. Yeah, I know you do, but you don’t want to. It’s like I’m forced into it. [Music] So, I think it was this yellow house there that we almost bought. It’s hard to remember, but I’m pretty sure that was the one. Isn’t it funny with life? all these little decisions that you make or you don’t make which mean that your life ends up going in a certain direction. And we always look back and think, “Oh, if we’ have made that decision, would we be doing what we’re doing now? Or would we be doing something totally different? Could be worse, could be better. You’re never going to know.” But I always wonder. After we had finished up in Silith, we continued on for around 40 minutes, arriving in Carlilele, where we had planned to stop off for a few days. [Music] Well, we have just arrived at our park up for tonight. We are in Castle Car Park in Carlilele, a place that we know very well. We’ve stopped here several times and we used to live in Carlilele. This is the place that we left behind 3 years ago to travel fulltime. We sold our house, hit the road, and the rest was history, as they say. So, there’s two reasons why we decided to stop here. One, we pass it on our coastal route, and two, the kids are here to catch up with some of their old school friends. So, another reason Kira likes it here especially, is because she’s got a thing for trains. She has a little She has a little thing for trains. Yeah. And we’re parked right behind a train track. They go around all hours of the day, especially freight trains. They can be like so long, like a mile long. They’re probably not a mile long, but they’re very, very long. Kira loves it. Richard only wants to tell you guys that to make me sound really weird, but honestly, I don’t think it’s that weird at all. There are all sorts of trains passing down here, and it’s actually quite interesting. And another thing, the sound does not bother us at all. Like, most of the people at this park up are actually parked on the other side. You can see everyone lined up. It’s really busy. Everyone parks over there away from the trains, but we’re not bothered by the noise. and we can get a good look. So, we always park by the trains. We’re not bothered by the noise, K. You want to be parted closer to the trains. Rick likes the trains, too. Don’t listen to me. They’re quite fun. Do you know what? He’s trying to embarrass me and it’s not working whatsoever. She’s very proud of the fact she loves trains. Yeah. No, but it doesn’t it doesn’t actually bother us. The noise it bothers some people, but I suppose we’re just used to noise. Um, and so it’s not too bad. And I don’t think they run all night, do they? It’s late, but not all. It’s very late. They can run very late. Well, this boy wants me to go to Sainsbury’s because it’s kids club tomorrow and this one is going to kids club for the very first time. Aren’t you Teddy? Yes. Yes. With your big brother and big sister. So, we need to go and get some pack lunch stuff. So, we need to have a walk to sainsburries. But you you got a bit of a cold, haven’t you? Face the camera towards me. It’ll be better tomorrow, though. I think I think it will. Let’s hope. I had it yesterday and today you did. But a nice good night’s sleep and it should be better in the morning. Yes. Well, we whipped the kids off to their kids club this morning. Hopefully they’re having a good time. Was a little bit worried about Teddy because it’s his first time away from us uh without family, of course. So, it’s his first time. Hopefully, he’ll be fine. There’s no phone call yet, so all is going well. Me and Rick spent the morning at the local garden center on a bit of a business work date, which was lovely. We’ve now just been getting on some washing. Revolution laundry here. And also right here is a car wash which we’ve squeezed into. This is well overdue. [Music] When’s the last time you actually had a wash? Ages ago. I can’t even remember when like a proper wash like this. Never. There we go. Looking all nice. Rick’s turned it around now as well. So, we’re going to clean up the back, especially this bit. [Music] Let’s go pick the kids up from their play school thing and uh get back to our park up. Good evening, guys. I am currently doing something I’d rather not be doing and that is appealing uh a parking fine that we got. So uh you might have remember um when we were finishing our Cornwall uh and Devon or Southwest England part we had to nip away to get our data recovered. And on that journey we stayed at the Forestry Commission Fin Shadewood overnight parking area. um paid for the tickets and all the rest, but I got a parking fine. So, I got a parking fine uh from the Nexus Group. Um 25 quid if I pay within 14 days, 50 quid if I don’t pay quick enough. Anyway, I appealed it because we were in the motor home area and I’ve got parking receipts luckily. Um, they rejected my appeal because they’ve got photos of my vehicle on the access track, which you have to go down to get to the motor home area. Um, so they rejected my appeal and said, uh, I need to pay. Um, they said that I cannot have any more communication with them. So I’m now appealing through Popla, which is the parking on private land appeals um, platform, which is online. It’s an independent appeal process. So if you get a parking ticket, you obviously appeal first through the company, then you take it to Popla. Um, so I’m doing that and we’ve used that before. When Kira got a parking ticket, um, she actually got a county court judgment held against her. Just ignore the train in the background. um she got a counter court judgment uh against her and luckily through popular we got it all overturned and the counter court judgment went away and all the rest of it. Um so it’s a really good platform. So I’m doing that now. Probably hear back in maybe a week’s time. Hopefully this will be overturned as well. Okay guys, we are going to be breaking one of our own rules cuz we are going slightly off route right now. One of our friends has opened up their very own private motor home stopover. So, we are going to head down to Penrift. It’s only about 25 mi, something like that. Uh, and go check it out. We’re going to stay there a couple of days and see what it’s all about. However, sticking to our original rules, we will be rejoining the route at exactly the same point we left it to rejoin our coastal journey in a few days time. [Music] Just spent the last few nights at our friend’s new motor home stopover just on the outskirts of Pen Riiff. It’s called Keeper Cottage Motor Home Air. So, if you type that into Google, it should pull up the search results for it. And it is only £10 to stay the night. So, as you can imagine, it is getting quite popular already. It is best to book because since we’ve been here, there’s been lots of vans arriving and some happen to get turned away. So, if you want to come and try it out, which we recommend you do, then make sure you book ahead to secure a place. As I say, we’ve just had the most lovely stay. There is a footpath and a walk which takes you to Broom Hall just over the field at the back here. So you can go there for ice cream and have a look at a few of the independent shops. But anyway, our time here is now up and we are going to be heading to Scotland. Okay guys, that is all for this week’s video, but we do have a special announcement. Yeah, we do. In celebration of us reaching 50,000 subscribers, and I can’t believe we’re saying that, 50,000 subscribers, uh we’re going to be giving away this absolutely amazing hamper that we have put together from a few places that we’ve stopped along the coast. Yeah. So, in here we’ve got Blackpool Rock, iconic, absolutely angles sea salt. We’ve got some rum chocolates from the rum story in White Haven and a few other bits as well as with the kids mug and stickers. And if you guys want to enter, all you need to do is head over to our Facebook page. We’ve just put a post out there. Far too big a vehicles for our roads.
Not just the American invasion, it was the last time the UK was invaded full stop. You got an invoice not a parking fine.
Donuts are always the best when you're eating them 😋 oh them ice cream Bokers look awesome 😋 Rick isn't greedy as long as he gets the biggest 😂😂 great stop, awesome vlog guys 🌹❣️🥂xx
Was hoping to stay at Finshade Wood when our van is finished, but now I am a little concerned. Do I need a magic car that can just teleport onto the site to be able to stay without a fine? I'm a bit concerned how you're meant to stay without being on the access road….Please keep us all posted with your appeal because I am probably not the only subscriber that intends to stay there at some point.
In terms of great fish and chips, if/when you get as far as Skegness there are naturally loads to choose from with it being a seaside resort. We always gravitate towards Trawlers Catch – you can't miss it, its a bit OTT from outside but the food is flipping good.
This is why Scotland needs independence, we'll have laws enforced on us that we DO NOT WANT. Do you get it now England?
@21.20 They aint no ravers… Masons?
We are very local to Fineshade, so if you need any photos/footage of the drive in to help your case then reach out (assuming you don’t have footage of that bit)
You do know that the rules are different in Scotland. I wish youd stop calling it UK rules, and UK this and UK that. Please educate yourself.
I hope you make it up to and around East Lothian at some point…👌…not to be missed 😊
Just spotted your post by chance and have thoroughly enjoyed this so am going to search back to episode 1 and find out properly how you ended up on this adventure. Well done
Having had the privilege of spending some time on the Isle of Man, be assured they do not see Britain as the "main land"; it's more a case of "over there". Whilst it would likely cost you a small fortune to take your motorhome to the Isle of Man, you perhaps should consider a trip there at some point; its an amazing place where you would have lots of adventures.
Fantastic video once again. Love a great chippy. Earlier in the year we had a long weekend in Whitby (possibly the home of fish and chips). The Magpie at Whitby is pretty famous and I thoroughly enjoyed eating in their restaurant. We also had a takeaway from Trenchers Fish and Chips; have to say absolutely brilliant (they cook in beef dripping).
I've received a Parking Charge Notice today because I parked my car for an hour and 15 minutes in an empty carpark at Macclesfield Hospital on a Sunday afternoon so I could take my wife on a picnic who has spent the last 6 weeks in hospital waiting for a complex operation for stage 4 bone cancer. She has a disabled badge. Yes I probably broke the rules and could pay the £70. I've appealed but don't expect any compassion. I just want to stand my ground and see where it goes.
Keep up the videos. Dan
Very cheeky Rick😂, great info a usual 😊
Hi guys when you eventually get to Cleethorpes try Steeles for your fish & chips
Oh bugger dont do facebook😓
Am shocked you come up here to silloth n went to a crappy ice cream van n not the towns ice cream shop 😂😊
Watched your Vlog after a random suggestion by YT, When I saw you were visiting Silloth I thought you may have visited the sculpture/statue done by Ray Lonsdale (same guy that did Tommy over in Seaham) but if you've lived in Carlise you may have already been.
Parking Companies are like US insurance companies:
Automatically reject appeals in hope that significant numbers discontinue the fight. Further evidence of the enshittification of services in this country 🤬
Great video 👌💙❤️
Good looking system 👌💙❤️
Saw you drive through Allonby 🎉
If you're looking for some amazing fishand chips ypu need to get down to dungeness and go to the pilot! Even Ed sheeran has eaten there! I live just down from there and its the best by far! And pl7s theres some really nice local spots to visit

This is the life I am starting in a few weeks only I have a van and caravan just me and my dog
How do you set up a fund raising to collect litter I pick about 20 bags a day and I wanted to set up a fund raising money for the air ambulance
Hiya Rik & family,we left a Hello note on Tori this am .we came on site late & left before you all were up. Campbell Town we suggested would b e good park up but right at the end of the Mull of Kyntyre. Aran was great but ferry,s army cheap.Have FUN in Scotland and we will keep watching from North Devon.☮️❤️👍
When you get up to Scotland, go to the Portknockie chippy. You may have to order in advance, that's how good it is. Also, go and see the Bow Fiddle Rock when you are there. I live in Devon now, but it's where I grew up. You will not be disappointed!
When you eventually get to Lincolnshire and Cleethorpes, you’ve got to try Steels restaurant for Haddock and Chips
Its due to overcrowding, you want to see photos of Britain from just a few decades ago, the space, the freedom ! It is due to immigration, the country needs to do ssomething about this
Lovely choice of music for your soundtrack 🎶 Great video 🙏
Just an idea. After doing all the U.K. coast you could do a handbook detailing the facilities on offer and the problems you encountered. Other travellers in caravans motor homes etc would find it very useful?
Very entertaining and informative content. I'm subscribed.
Hi what happened to you stunning cocker , we love your vlogs
Must be great not having to work for a living, or get your kids into education.
What do you expect if you drive those monsters (I include motor homes) . Keep them off the back roads. The clue is in the name……..CAMP site!
Frenches fish and chips on the quay at wells next the sea in norfolk
You didn't get a fine, you got a penalty. A fine requires a court and due process! On what authority does Nexus claim to be able to invoice you?
Small thing. When you have to park on an iffy surface like grass, mud etc, always reverse in. The reason for this is that you're facing the right way to get out and if you need a tow, the towing point is at the front.
I have just started watching your vlogs, which I’m am enjoying. Not a serious complaint but because I want to view from way back, I was disappointed they aren’t numbered. It’s a bind having to keep searching. Maybe something to think about. Even so they are great viewing and I shall keep going.
If you live in the truck how did they send you a parking ticket ?
Nexus Group are a bunch of clowns like many other similar parking firms… I’ve had three separate dealings with them all of them eventually thrown out. There’s talk Forestry England set targets for them to issue a certain number of fines and incoming revenue…..
Enjoyed the video
There's Lochore Meadows country park in Fife Scotland which has camping and play aeea. It's beautiful there. Maybe search it.
I just feel that whilst your lives may seem so idyllic being on what seems to be a permanent holiday…..it is the children that have so many hours in the van whilst you travel ….with no house, no neighbours to play with in the street, no school friends, no brownies, cubs or scouting groups, and no say in those decisions.
It just makes me feel sad for them despite the fact i can see you are good parents otherwise
Those companies' appeals are a waste of time they always reject.. the so far up there backside.
I camped in that same camp site as you and I also got a ticket. I appealed and I was successful with my appeal.
❤
Caverlock castle might be on your next leg I think and there's a fabulous motorhome park up you'll find on park4night. My kids loved the walk to the castle and there were a few things happening as summer holdiays hadn't quite finished ast time we went. Would recommend. 😊
Just seen you drive past me on the isle of arran.
Hope your enjoying the view
The mermaid in barmouth, great fish and chips or have you already been lol, only just subscribed 😂

The UK is a country that is well worth defending. I hope you and your viewers agree. Rab from Scotland
