okay we just landed in Los Angeles in
this video we’re spending the next 50 hours in Los Angeles and we’re making
every second count from cruising down   to Venice Beach to catching a golden sunset
at the Griffith we’re diving into the best of LA’s art culture and coastal vibes we’ll
explore historic architecture dig into some seriously good food and uncover a few hidden
gems along the way whether you’re planning your own trip or just coming along for the ride
get ready for sunshine flavor and adventure okay we just landed in Los Angeles and
our first stop is here in Venice Beach we’re kicking things off in Venice starting
the morning with a stroll through the Venice   canals and soaking up the energy along
the boardwalk then we’re meeting up with the rest of our crew for lunch to fuel up for
our big day ahead now we’re going to the canal area who remembers the movie the movie title
of the Ashton Kusher movie where he proposes to Jessica Alba and she leaves him love is
the only shocking act left on the planet i think he’s supposed to live on this canal so I
could be wrong you can also correct me let’s go a popular place you can tell like I guess
tourists are around taking pictures and   video the locals probably get so annoyed i’m
so sorry i’m so sorry but I mean I’ve been here a couple of times and I’ve never come
this way so I did definitely want to see it oh it’s so cute fun there’s a passageway wow how
convenient now you can go over to the beach now we’re heading over
to the iconic Venice Beach Boardwalk pickle ball is taking over the country one
court at a time the legendary Muscle Beach this spot has serious history
and I’m always on the lookout   to see if I can spot someone famous
is that John Cena no I’m just kidding there’s an overwhelming fragrance overwhelming
um organic organic fragrance in this area oh you want to go look at the skaters we
have some time to kill because we’re waiting for the rest of our crew to show up
for lunch so we’re going to go chill by the   Venice Skate Park which is one of the only
skate parks in the world built on the beach hello watch out for the bikes the rest of our
crew has now arrived my stepson Amilcar and his partner Spencer will be joining us
for lunch and adventure while we’re here   in LA it’s so nice out it’s Yeah it’s nice i
thought Yeah it’s so great okay we’re hungry so we head across the street to a place
Timeout magazine says is one of the best   restaurants in Venice Beach Great White this
breezy all day Aussie style cafe is famous for woodfired pizzas honestly they had me at
fired we ended up going with the duck barbecue pizza oh and since I’m sharing with my husband
we also got the burger some duck barbecue okay hello is there a flop there is
definitely a flop i don’t want to lose all the toppings there’s
barbecue it has duck it has onions ooh cilantro it’s really good the barbecue
sauce is a little sweet it’s very good let me just try some of the duck oh yeah it’s so good oh my god it’s
a play on on chicken barbecue the chicken it’s Look how big this thing is it’s ginormous all right so the food was excellent
dennis is so much fun to just hang out it’s so cool it’s so hip now we’re
jumping in that LA traffic to get to our next location which hopefully will help
us burn off that pizza all right so now we’re at the Griffith Park we’re going to
walk up to the observatory for two reasons one beautiful views two we should be able to
catch a really nice sunset so let’s go let’s go for a little hike so you can drive up and
try to find parking closer to the observatory good luck we find hiking up gives you those epic
I earned this view vibe plus you’ll pass through some beautiful trails wild flowers and are
are those deer i don’t know what is that hello so cool is it a deer i can’t
I don’t think that’s a deer hi oh multiple is there too oh
yeah there’s another one hi guys so it’s only a mile up the hill
but it is pretty much straight up hill so you just have to be prepared for
that you can park too up here but we never do we always walk it cuz you know
it’s fun it gets our exercise for the day woo it’s windy today woo the Griffith Observatory aka the place where
science stargazing and movie magic all collide with epic views of LA is perched high above the
city we get one of the best panoramic views of LA and on a clear day like today we can see the
Pacific Ocean downtown and the Hollywood sign the building and exhibit are totally free to
visit but shows at the planetarium cost a few bucks we really want to catch the sunset but
we have a little bit of time so we decided to get tickets to go into the planetarium okay we
came into the planetarium and we’re going to watch a show something about I think something
about life during the show please remember you cannot be readmitted if you have not done
so already please be absolutely sure that   all your electronic devices are turned
off sorry guys I couldn’t share but I promise you spending the $10 is totally
worth it it’s a great show but now we’ve   got to get to the roof we have a sunset to
catch that’s so cool i’m watching the sunset just like that nightfalls onto LA that was an amazing adventure but
it’s probably not going to surprise you to hear we’re hungry so we’re going to dinner so tonight we’re having Malaysian food we’ve never
had Malaysian food no one at this table has ever had Malaysian food before but they have a bib
gourmand so I am very excited because whenever you see that big gourman the the Michelin big
gourman you know it’s going to be delicious and amazing and affordable prices never had
Malaysian food never had Malaysian food we’re on a food adventure so let’s dive in we
got the dry wonton mee with curry chicken the wonton noodle the nasi lemak with rendang curry
beef and the roti canai with chicken curry and I apologize if I mispronounced anything
it’s my first time it’s a like a very fluffy airy type of bread like a flatbread like a
flatbread that look at this i mean it’s just I I like I don’t know how to eat this so
I I’m not trying to be disrespectful in   any way you can always correct me
in the comments oh okay i dip it oh that’s really good yeah there’s curry
in there but it’s not like overly spicy or anything it’s really flavorful
i like that can I dip it in that i like that too grab the There’s some
different spices in it yeah different sauce a little um chicken a little
spicier so I’m going to try this beef beef looks so good yeah the beef is awesome it’s
not spicy or but it’s just got a nice flavor to it and then I’m
going to try this coconut rice wow so good now there’s a sauce here with this
i’m just going to try it with the cucumber i don’t know are you supposed to load up like
one whole bite i don’t know i’m going to try it m oh that too wow this is really good my first time first time
ow i love it i’m in love watch out Malaysia here I No I’m just
kidding baby steps baby steps okay we ordered way too much food but that
was so good super yummy amazing delicious so you got to check this place out if you come to
LA it’s a great spot and with that we’re full we’re satisfied and we’re calling it a night
you’re still here oh jeez thanks i appreciate you well if you’re liking this video I invite
you to hit that subscribe button because we   have more videos just like this one coming
your way now back to the adventure we’re starting off this morning in the car heading
to our first stop that includes a little art   a little architecture and a whole lot of views
we did need to park our car so we could take the tram but this is one of LA’s most iconic
museums it’s perched on a hill with incredible views of the city the Getty has everything
from Renaissance art to modern photography this is free but you do have to get tickets
online before you come so just a little tip there it’s hard to believe that this place is
free but it is the Central Garden is basically a living work of art designed by artist Robert
Irwin this 134,000 square foot garden is meant to constantly change with the seasons it’s
not just pretty it’s designed to make you feel something this is something that you could
spend all day doing we have limited time so we’re going to do a fast forward the Getty Center is
organized into five main pavilions north south east west and the exhibit pavilion each pavilion
focuses on different aspects of the collection since we have limited time we’re going to visit
all the buildings looking for some of the main attractions this is Vincent Van Gogh’s Irises a
vibrant masterpiece painted during his stay at the asylum in Saint Remy this is the portrait
of a Halberdier by Pontormo an eye-catching portrait that reflects the exaggerated style
and sophistication of the mannerist period the Abduction of Europa by Rembrandt a
dramatic depiction of the mythological tale and La Promenade by Renior
captures a young couple taking a walk ah it’s hard to pull ourselves away but
our time at the Getty has come to an end   honestly if you have a full day to spend here
do it there’s so much to take in between the art the gardens and the views but now we
need to jump back on the tram head down the hill get in our car meet up with our
crew and head to the San Marino area where rare books worldclass art and some of the
most beautiful gardens in SoCal are waiting so now we’re at the Huntington Library
Museum and Botanical Gardens in the early 1900s railroad tycoon Henry E Huntington began
collecting rare books art and manuscripts not just for himself but to one day share
with the public by 1919 he and his wife Arabella established the Huntington as
a research and educational institution today we’re going to check out the
library the art museum and parts of the gardens home to over 11 million
items we find rare treasures like the Ellesmere manuscript of Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales it also houses extensive collections
in British and American history literature and science this is a rare and special copy
of the Declaration of Independence it’s an engraved version printed in the early
1800s by a man named Eleazar Huntington only a few copies like it exists
today which makes it a pretty big deal it’s just a really cool collection
of our history so you can tell the owner was just obsessed with collecting
all this really cool stuff about our history this place is just fascinating so many
incredible finds from rare books to Newton’s notes now we’re heading over to the main house
where the art museum is located european   art gallery well in a building like
this yes I will definitely stop by is this them and then this was Arabella today an art museum
but I think what’s more crazy to me is this is the former home of Henry and Arabella Huntington built
between 1907 and 1911 this is a 55,000 square foot bow arts mansion henry moved in in 1910 and
Arabella joined him after their marriage in 1913 they used this as their winter residence
typically spending four to five months a   year here while the rest of the year was
divided among their other homes in New York and France i mean the art is super
special too but the location is insane if these walls could talk I’m
pretty sure they’d spill some   seriously juicy dinner party gossip i
mean just look at the dining room made for fancy meals dramatic toast
and maybe a scandal or two over dessert wow just look at that view of the
gardens oh yeah the gardens we still got to go see the gardens we got to keep moving
i was not expecting this this is definitely something you’d like imagine in Europe it’s just
so pretty there’s I mean it just is gorgeous and look at the mountains you can see the mountains
in the background i mean just beautiful there’s Welcome to the gardens aka 130 acres of pure
botanical magic now the gardens are made up of four different sections the rose the Japanese
the Chinese and the desert garden so let’s go adventure i honestly feel
like a kid in this garden like I just want to run around and smell all the flowers that one doesn’t
really have a scent but it’s beautiful look oh wow now we found the Japanese garden the Japanese garden has been here since 1912 and
includes a moon bridge koi pond and a traditional tea house it’s basically the ultimate zen zone
like stepping into another world i saw some very large koi from up there so I want to go down here
and see if we can see them up close look at him hello hear everyone’s excitement
look at the turtles look at the koi fish this place is so beautiful it really is here we go through the bamboo forest and tucked away like a clean little
secret the bonsai garden a tiny forest full of seriously impressive trees that are
older than most of us but only 2 feet tall this place must be so zen
that it even attracts local wildlife okay this is another spot that
you need you could spend all day it’s so big there’s so much to see and we’ve only
allotted 2 hours so it’s like we’re fast forwarding so we have to get to lunch yay but
it’s absolutely beautiful it’s breathtaking this is all the All right that was a
ton of fun but we are hungry so we’re   taking a 27minute car ride to our lunch spot
okay so now we’re at Marouch hopefully I’m pronouncing that right we are stopping for
some Lebanese and Armenian food i mean that sounds super yummy marouche is a beloved East
Hollywood institution that has been serving up authentic Lebanese and Armenian cuisine
since 1982 tucked in a modest strip mall in Santa Monica Boulevard this family run gem has
earned its place among LA’s culinary landmarks you may also recognize it yourself from being
featured on diners drive-ins and dives i need more yogurt sauce there’s nothing flashy about
it but when you come in the food is just killer this all looks so good it came with onions
tomatoes rice it looks like some hummus and this is probably tziki shots yeah like a yogurt sauce
i’m just going to dip it cuz I don’t have the tiki sauce that is so tender it’s full of flavor cuz of the
spices inside of it but oh my gosh this is delicious Armenian dumplings i’ve never
had this before so this is something super special and different for me it comes in It
looks like a yogurt sauce it has um rice and then there’s peanuts on top so just look
that’s the dumpling can I just pop this into my mouth i don’t know if it’s going to
be super hot just take a bite of this thing oh my gosh that’s so good the dumpling
is amazing like you barely have to chew   it it’s so tender and delightful
wow but very ripe very like not heavy delicious amazing oh my god
this is my first time i love it unfortunately we had to make a quick exit from
the restaurant we’re on a tight schedule with   time tickets for our next stop all right so now
we’re here at the Frank Lloyd Wright house i have never been to a Frank Lloyd Wright house so I’m
super excited i know there was one in Western Pennsylvania but I never went when I lived there
so now we’re going to check this one out yay right all right heads up the Hollyhock House has some
pretty strict rules and they don’t waste any time letting you know rule number one absolutely no
video photos are permitted and maybe a little bit of Ray-Bands so uh here we go Frank Lloyd
Wright simply put is a legend he’s one of the most influential architects in American history wright
was known for designing buildings that didn’t just sit on land they belong to it his signature style
organic architecture structures that flow with nature not fight it this house was his first
commission in Los Angeles and a major turning point in his career designed in the 1920s for oil
heiress and arts patron Alene Barnsdall the house blends ancient influences like Mayan temples with
Wright’s signature modern style he even designed it around her favorite flower the Holly Hawk
which you’ll see echoed in the architecture and details all over the property but here’s the wild
part alen didn’t like it when I first heard this I thought “What a spoiled woman.” How could you
not love this house ma’am how could you not love this house but I read an article from journalist
Lucie Young that made me understand better Aline wanted first and foremost a theater and arts
complex she got a Mayan looking residence and two guest houses she wanted a place to hang
her fabulous collection of European paintings she got a living room full of Wright’s favorite
Japanese screens she wanted a house that cost $20,000 and this whole project came in at
nearly $200,000 for the architecture and $300,000 for the land to put that into perspective
in today’s dollars she was willing to spend $319,000 and she got something that
she didn’t ask for and had to spend $10.5 million so I can understand why
she’s upset after all that effort and money she found the house impractical and
uncomfortable no surprise Wright wasn’t known for taking clients feedback so what did she do
she donated the whole estate to the city of Los Angeles in 1927 just handed it over and thanks
to that bold move we all get to enjoy it today oh don’t touch the wall don’t touch anything you
can’t film so we took a bunch of pictures sorry we couldn’t share video but man that is spectacular
oh wow i didn’t realize you can see the Hollywood sign from here that’s awesome wow it’s been a
long day we’ve seen a lot of great sites we’ve had a lot of fun now it’s time to relax and head to
our final destination for the evening Thunderbolt hidden just off sunset in the historic Filipino
town Thunderbolt is ranked number 24 in the 50 best bars in North America they’re known for
their craft cocktails in southern food all right cheers that crispiness really crispy
now this is like a buttermilk biscuit this is southern comfort food at its finest
yeah who knew biscuits is a bar food pimento cheese poppers if there’s one thing I’ve
learned about going to South Carolina well from South Carolina is pimento cheese is king
and I am all about it pimento cheese inside and then they’re fried and there’s some kind
of sauce here i’m going to try it without the   sauce first and then I’m going to add the
sauce they’re hot like freshly fried oh my goodness oh yeah very strong very cheesy little
spicy yum yum yum yum yum all right let me try the sauce oh my gosh the sauce is like a cucumber
it cools it down like pimento and they’re spicy oh and it’s really hot for being fried
absolutely a great ode to southern food love it it’s so good all right we’re full we’re
happy we’re satisfied we’ll see you in the   morning all right so we’re starting
the day off strong you got to start off the day with a sweet treat and
we’re here at La Mascota going to give   them a try it’s a Mexican bakery so I’m
excited to give it a try let’s go let’s go so this is very exciting if you’re
here in LA on a budget come to a Mexican bakery because we got two tamales the
tamales are filled with pork and this beautiful bread beautiful sweet bread and
a diet coke for $9 this is pandulse it’s a sweet bread this is what I’m talking about
this is This is what I need in the morning so oh I love that oh my gosh turn it around
look how fluffy that is oh it’s just I kind of wish I would have got coffee now cuz
I would dip this in coffee so good so now I’m going to try the tamale again this is
a pork tamale oh yeah this is so good oh my gosh look at the chunks of pork that’s a
huge chunk of pork let me get out let me try to focus can I focus i’m trying to focus guys
i I can’t I don’t know if you can see it oh my god the pork is nice and juicy and then
Oh my gosh it’s very filling it’s very hearty it’s very like This is how you
start your day here in LA this is This is how you start your day in LA i’m rhyming
now that’s how good the food is i’m rhyming oh that made my morning that was awesome oh man we
only have two more stops and then that’s the end of our video for this week but what’s a visit
to LA without a studio tour okay so we made it we’re here for a tour sony Sony Picture
Studios a little lot it’s a little hectic here i think there’s some they they filmed
Jeopardy here and what else wheel of Fortune and I think this might be the line for one of
those shows we’re not going there we’re going   on a tour like many things in LA we couldn’t
film as much as we wanted here on this tour hollywood secrets and all but this tour is
packed with movie magic i enjoyed sitting   on Jerry’s couch accepting my awards for being
me and checking out all the movie magic history sony’s lot is home to legendary soundstages
classic sets and major productions the tour takes you behind the scenes of how movies
and TV are made walking through active sets iconic soundstages and even the famed Yellow
Brick Road so even though we couldn’t film everything we definitely felt like we stepped
into movie history well that concludes our tour unfortunately we didn’t get to video very
much because you weren’t allowed to it was   fun to go around and see the sound stages but you
couldn’t really tape anything inside um we didn’t see anyone famous unfortunately it is an active
lot though there was a lot of things going on there’s trailers but it’s cold and it’s rainy
so maybe the famous people didn’t want to come   out i don’t know i did enjoy getting our picture
taken my husband’s a little underwhelmed i think he wanted to see a little bit more as far as
you know behind the scenes we could say that Warner Brothers is a little bit better but this
one is cheaper but the tour guide was very nice and I enjoyed it now to the car all that walking
at Sony has made us hungry so you know what that means our last stop is lunch here in LA yes and
now it’s time for the legendary El Pastor Tacos from Leo’s this LA institution started with
a single truck in Mid City back in 2010 their legendary El Pastor tacos are carved straight
from the Trumpo topped with fresh pineapple and served on warm corn tortillas which are my
favorite so when we were leaving the airport the lady was like “Leo you got to go to Leo’s
for tacos it’s taco Thursday.” Like “Yeah let’s go.” Cool but these look amazing m yes yes okay it’s a little spicy
that’s roast verde wow delicious there a fattiness to the meat gives you
a great flavor i absolutely love the   tortillas corn tortillas flavorful
i love love love man these are so good yep this is what we needed right here
there’s just nothing better than coming to a taco truck and having the most delicious taco
in like ever it’s just the best and I love it al pastor so good yes yes yes oh I got a little more
spicy there this is so good these are amazing i It’s the You know you come to LA you

the cheese there’s a lot of cheese on it love that wow that is weird crunchy flaky
yeah it’s like a hard It’s like a hard taco maybe that’s what they call it vampire
bampito like like Yeah it’s really crunchy look oh I can’t believe our time has come
to an end here in Los Angeles we had an amazing time i can’t believe all the things
we actually did for free you know the Getty Griffith Observatory oh we just had the
best time now of course you do have to account for the traffic cuz you’re going
to battle some traffic but it it’s all   well worth it so if you haven’t already
