Paphos Gardens : Room, Food & First Impressions
Hi, welcome to Travels with the Russells. Hello. And today we are in Pathos in Cyprus and we’re staying at the Pathos Gardens. Pathos Gardens. So, come and join us as we show you around, see what the facilities are like, and give you a room tour, show you what our room is like. Um, it’s quite a large complex. This it’s a a resort complex. So come and join us. Let’s have a look [Music] around. It’s uh location is in Kato Pathos itself, but it’s kind of third row back from seafront, but again it’s only a few hundred meters actually from the the municipal beach. So, uh, its location is good at the moment. It’s it’s April. It’s Easter in a few days. See, plenty of car parking. And in fact, with this uh, Pathos Gardens, it is all separate blocks. So, we’re actually staying in a block over there, but there are different blocks all over the resort into the uh bar area. There a few big screens up. See the pool out there and the bar area. Reception area. Yeah, there is a big fire. I don’t know. It’s lovely a winter. Few screens on the walls and traditional music playing in the background. Over on the left here, we’ve got a little kind of quiet area with little library, pool table, and a little seating area. [Music] entertainment for tomorrow and got little Easter thing as it is Easter. So the entertainment program Wednesday and Saturdays are the days off look of it probably in the season in season probably every day. So as this is a resort hotel uh you can come in here from uh from room only bed and breakfast half board full board all inclusive choice is yours. The uh restaurant well we’ll show you this tomorrow. We’ll be having breakfast here tomorrow. So, uh, we’ll show you around. And again, an outside terrace, swimming pool. It’s a bit breezy today. It’s quite a chilly wind, but people are still sunbathing, so it must be a sun trap. And this would be the all-inclusive bar. Yes. All-incclusive bar. We’re going around. reasonable size area for your dinners, the all-incclusive [Music] guests. And tonight it’s Ivan music DJ. It’s very um Greek, is it restaurant? Yeah, it’s very traditionally based. I like this. Spotlessly clean. Although maybe a little bit dated, but it depends what you’re looking for, I suppose, really. Ah, the cats of Cyprus. Swimming pool. The restaurant we’ve just been down to is just down there. There’s a kiddies pool. There’s this pool. That’s obviously an animation stage. Oh, this must be a a stage for entertainment in the [Music] summertime. We’ve got little uh under shade play area for the kids. table tennis, pool, air hockey, things like that. So, the back of the hotel, as I said, there are several blocks, kind of annexes all over the place. So, you may not be in the main hotel building. We certainly are. No lifeguard on duty. [Applause] Children’s paddling pole. Not very deep. Very safe for them. Might be more likely to slip than anything else. It’s not a toilet block and kids club playground. A little play area, soft play area for the kids. It’s got those uh squidgy tile things in there. Tennis court, fulls size tennis court and also an archery area. So some of the outside area all these buildings all got names like margarita and hibiscus mainly flower flower names hibiscus jasmine violet again another swimming pool nice decent size pool oasis. And I would imagine that this bar area opens in the summer. Decent size pole. Yeah, plenty of sunbirds there. So, the on-site supermarket appears to be closed. Whether it will reopen again, I don’t know. But the location is you’re pretty close to everything anyway. So, there’s plenty of kiosks and bars and restaurants just around the corner. It does say mini market sign, but as I say, it all appears to be closed. Whether it will open, I don’t know. Shel. Oh, don’t know. Is there anything on the shelves in there? Not very much. There is some really things still left in there. H concage area. A kind of golf buggy. Take you to your block if you need it by kaya. Again, main entrance into Pathos Gardens on-site laundry, which can be very handy. Definitely. Yeah. Let’s see what it takes. Well, the Zions and Looks like it’s β¬4, but it’s quite a lot. Yeah, it is. So, if you’re staying for any length of time, it looks like people leave their detergent, which is nice. Yeah. So, washer dryers, big ones. Let’s go see if we can find the gym and the indoor pool. Part of our challenge. Handy to know if you’re on a jet 2 holiday. They have got the resort flight check in there. Always come down minus [Music] one. We’ve got uh the spa treatment areas. No idea what that There we go. Bigger than expected gym. It is, it good size gym. It is. Yeah. Yeah. Running machines. Quite some of the decent stuff. And we’ve got lots of things about it. Steppers. Yeah. Growers, bikes. So then we’ve got the inside, the indoor pool and jacuzzi, stroke, hot tub, whatever. Warm. No, not warm. Okay. You’ll be all right in that, love. probably this one. Something’s making a bit of a noise. I don’t know what that is. That that one. So, the hot tub’s hot and the and the although there’s water coming into the pool from that, isn’t it? I don’t know. Oh, it’s shower area. It’s the shower area. So, decent size, actually. Decent size pool, nice and clean. So, this is from reception minus one in the lift or just come down the stairs. I don’t think you can think that’s the fire door. She’s just dropped it open. So, use of the spa, jacuzzi β¬10, saunaβ¬ 10, steam bathβ¬10, and a package 15. If you like that kind of thing, it’s good, don’t you? Yeah. So, that kind of was our hotel tour. So, we want to take show you the uh the room now that we’ve been given. Again, we just booked a standard room. Didn’t ask for anything. Didn’t stipulate anything. Just a double room. And uh we’ll show you what we were given. So the room is over in this block which is is it Narcissus? Yes. Narcissus 103. So Narcissus 103. There we go. So, first thing you may notice is a nice kitchenet. It’s fully equipped. Really proper cooker top, microwave, oven, all the utensils and nice fridge, freezer, extractor. All pots and pans are in the cupboard. They do leave all the uh washing up facilities for you. This is me being a slob. Bin, toaster, kettle, all basic all the things you’ll need. So, double room. So, uh twin beds, wardrobe space. Well, it’s good. It’s okay. It’s okay. Again, I don’t like these hangers that you have to clip in thing, but anyway, that’s personal thing. That’s what that’s fine. Bedside lamps, power sockets, again, show you UK standard 13 amp sockets. You don’t need to bring any adapters to Cyprus. No, unless you’re European or Yeah. If you’re American or from Europe, you will. But if you’re from the UK, you don’t need any. So, we got a dressing table with a large mirror, little chair, a couple of little chairs, actually. TV with assorted satellite channels and it’s also got internet channels like YouTube. Oh, look, it’s troubles with the Russell on the screen there. Amazing. Nice touch. Is this The fruit, the water and the uh Cyprus delight is all with compliments. So on your room arrival, these things are left for you with a note from the manager saying enjoy your holiday. This would be a bed sete, I guess. Um yep, I suppose they’ll make that up for you if you’ve got a child staying with you. If I open the uh curtains, that’s some lighting. So, for a couple this is brilliant. For a couple with one child or maybe two small children be fine. Just uh see if I can do this with my left hand. So, little seating area outside patio. And of course, we’re on the ground floor. So, straight out to what you could call a garden area. So, standard room. Yep. Go through and show you the bathroom. Through to the bathroom. Nice big sink area. Put your util complimentary uh gels and soaps and things. Huge mirror full width of the room. Towels of course are provided. You’ve got all your towels, your towel rails. And in fact, there’s a drying line there which comes out. Can’t do it with my left hand, I’m afraid. Shower bath. Shower over bath. Standard toilet. I didn’t leave the lid up, by the [Music] way. I’d get shouted out if I had uh shower only point. So toothbrush, electric toothbrush or your shaver. Yeah. Fine. So a modern air conditioning unit works very well blowing very cold air out is that also could be used for heating. So yep, air conditioning unit. So breakfast, plenty of coffee machines, [Music] toasters, juices, fresh fruit. drive through your normal uh breakfast, mushrooms, beans, potatoes, sausages. Cate [Music] breakfast. Egg station. Crystal cooked eggs. Omelets. There you go. So, what you think of the breakfast then? I think it’s exceptional. The choice is really out there. Yeah, there’s loads of choice from a a traditional English breakfast, which I have. Of course, indul beans, mushrooms, fried eggs, sausages, bacon. Looks a bit strange, but give them that. Julie, you’ve got a bit of breakfast there. Scrambled egg and cheese. Mushrooms. Oh yeah. Lack butter, toast, and quissants, fresh fruit, everything. It’s very nice. Very good. Loads of dried fruit, cereal. Yeah. So, pretty much anything you’d want for breakfast, including HP sauce, all there. So, I’m going to tuck into my breakfast and enjoy. So to summarize our stay at the Pathos Gardens Resort Hotel in Pathos Cyprus. So what did you think Julie? I think it’s got a good location. I think the breakfast is outstanding. I don’t think anybody could fault that. There’s something for everybody. Fresh egg station. Um the apartments are very dated but clean and tidy. Um, and they contain everything that you’d need if you were actually coming here and doing self catering. So, all in all, I think it’s a good spot. Yep. It’s very good. It’s great for families. Uh, especially with the self-catering thing, but there is an option to go halfboard, full board, all inclusive or room only. If the breakfast’s anything to go by, then I should imagine that the other food’s really good because the standard of the breakfast is right. And you’ve got several pools to choose from. And you’ve got an inside pool as well and a good gymnasium and a spa. Yeah. So, all in all all in all, I think there’s something for everybody. Uh yeah, I think the location is brilliant. You can’t really fault the location. It’s close enough to everything. 5 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes uh down to the front and the restaurants 2 minutes away. Supermarket uh kiosk a couple of minutes away. So everything at your kind of fingertips. So really we’d say it would come as recommended for families. Great location, a little bit dated, but everything is functional and everything is clean and nice. So anyway, thanks ever so much for watching and we’ll see you on the next one. Bye bye bye. [Music]
