Da sud a nord a bordo dell’antico “Espresso del Levante” – Lecce a Milano in treno notturno
Hello and welcome to Lecce station The station was opened in 1866 Behind the station is the railway museum of Puglia It was open when I arrived so I visited it There are many vintage trains from the FS and FSE There is also the model train on display The old signs and systems from the local stations The entrance costs only 5 euros Let’s go back to the station It’s a small station with a tobacconist and a newsagent There are automatic ticket machines And a ticket office for Trenitalia and the FSE Today we take the InterCity Notte 752 train to Milano Centrale There is another night train that leaves an hour earlier and travels to Taranto Our train for the night On the train there are 3 levels of service The carriages with seats The couchette carriages And the sleeping car Today we take the latter In the compartment there are 3 beds with their electrical sockets But I’m travelling by myself this evening There is space for luggage and also the buttons for the compartment The table with the mirror and the wastebasket A sink with rush water The courtesy kit for the trip The menu for the on-board service not included We leave from Lecce on time Night has fallen It’s time for dinner For the last dinner in Italy a pizza with meatballs and a beer from Puglia The Brindisi station is our first stop From the window we can’t see anything We stop at Ostuni station Then Fasano station It’s romantic to travel at night Monopoli station Last stop before arriving in Bari We cross the outskirts of the Apulian capital Then we enter the Bari Centrale station We have an 8-minute stop Then we set off again We cross the seaside resorts We stop at Molfetta station Then Bisceglie station Trani station I’m lulled by the noise of the train I’m tired A stop at Barletta station Before sleeping we go have a look at the train The sleeping car with 3-bed compartments If you’re travelling alone you must book the entire compartment A carriage with comfort couchettes There are 4 couchettes per compartment With the suppression of the Express trains there are no more 6-berth sleeper carriages A carriage with seats The seats are in the 4 + 4 configuration with some rows of 2 + 2 There are electrical sockets at each seat Now let’s see the train’s bathroom The water works with buttons on the floor You have to wait a bit There is a soap and toilet paper dispenser We arrive in the city of Foggia We enter the station We have a 3 minute stop We leave in the night on time It’s time for some sleep Good night I wake up upon arrival at Bologna Centrale station During the night the train traveled along the coast With stops in the cities of Pescara Ancona and Rimini We enter the station 4 minute stop We leave again towards Lombardy We cross the Emilia Romagna region at dawn We travel on the conventional Milan – Bologna line We stop at Modena station The northern plains at dawn Next stop Reggio Emilia Then Parma station How nice to wake up with a blue sky Breakfast included in the ticket price is served Italy is the country of coffee but Trenitalia serves the smallest espresso in the world The train enters Piacenza station The last stop of the train We set off again for the last 45 minutes of the journey Now we are in the Lombardy region We pass through the Milano Lambrate station without stopping It’s time to end the journey It was a good journey aboard the InterCity Notte But I find that the mattress is hard It makes you think of a couchette and not a bed We travelled on time I travelled with the Trenitalia Pass Youth so the reservation was free Prices start from €29 for a seat, €49 for a couchette, and €89 for a bed. We are arriving at Milan Central Station We have traveled for 13 hours on board From Milan you can continue your journey Towards Lombardy or Liguria But also towards Switzerland and France The huge central station of Milan It was the last trip in Italy this time Thank you for coming and see you next time
