Travelling from UK to Europe | Disneyland Paris in a Motorhome

We’re heading to Dover. We’re staying at the Black Horse campsite, part of the Cavern and Motor Home Club. So, come with us on this journey as we adventure to Disneyland and other campsites. Yeah. Enjoy the ride. Welcome to our YouTube channel. We’re Becky and David, and these two are Elijah and Sunny. Together, we make Sunny’s Adventures. If you’re new to our channel, we travel the UK and Europe in our A-class motor home, sharing real family adventures and honest campsite reviews. If you love motor home life, travel with kids, and a bit of fun along the way, this is the channel for you. This is James, by the way, my nephew. And then Jacob, my 14-year-old, right at the back there, who’s going to be a 14-year-old. I’m probably going to have to blur his face or put a wig on him just so no one recognizes him in this video. Right, you ready? Yeah. Let’s go. Happy holiday. Happy holiday. So, for this trip, it’s just me, our 14-year-old, and his cousin James. The motor home only has space for three this time. So, Becky and the little ones are sitting this one out. A slightly different adventure, but still plenty to enjoy. Um, this is going to be my first time going on a ferry and the first time staying in the motor home, so I’m really, really excited. First stop services to grab a coffee. So, we stopped for a quick break at War Surfaces. Got the essentials flat white but decaf. So, it’s a placebo even though I know it’s not. And then James has got Triple G. That’s hotter than the sun. What you got as well? You got um hot. Yeah. Right. Let’s get back on the road. We got another probably 3 hours worth of driving. So, uh, let’s crack at it. Just before we leave, uh, the POT, weirdly, because they’re continental side doors. It doesn’t actually come with a driver’s side cup holder. There’s actually really no cup holders in the front here. So, I put my own one in. Let me show you where I put it. I used the little snake cam at work just to check that there’s a void under here and there was nothing under there like cables and vents and stuff and then drilled one in. And then I bought this from Amazon just so I could put extra stuff in like an extra bottle holder and I put my wallet on there, etc. So, it’s really good. Same on that side. There isn’t one, but you could possibly put one in the top of this here. And and there’s like a pocket down here. Yeah, there’s pock there’s some there’s some in the door, but it’s just too far down. There’s this here, which is good for a coffee, but nothing bigger like a bottle. Back on the road now. two hours two and about a bit hours um to go and so looking forward to going to Disney and yeah and we don’t plan any more stops so it’s just straight to the um the campsite. It’s the bank holiday weekend and with the M25 to tackle getting from Staffordshire to do in just 4 hours would be a first. Normally it takes six with traffic so fingers crossed we actually pull it off this time. Right, so we’ve arrived at the Blackhorse campsite. We are 10 minutes early, so uh there’s a bit of a queue whilst we wait to check in. Um but it should be pretty self-explanatory what to do. Um so yeah, let’s go get checked in. I’ll show you where we’re camping tonight. We could have had a normal pitch to be completely black and white, but uh I just picked a fairy pitch just cuz they’re easy and it will do the trick. Actually no cheaper either. I think they’re actually more expensive, but uh you never learn. It looks quite empty through there. I don’t know if you can see the there’s usually caravans and motor homes all there and this is the queue and this is J’s face. So what what usually happens is they you get an email before. So if you’re coming here late you’ll there’s like a there’s a pin board with your pitch number and stuff on there a little map and then you’ve already been emailed a code. So as long as you do it in enough notice if not they’ll call you and tell you what the gate code is. You go and plunk your code in for the first gate and then you’re you’re in and away. I think there’s a second barrier for the actual campsite. Um cuz you’ll have a full-on check-in. So, yeah, let’s uh let’s go see if our stuff’s on the pin board. Yeah. So, we’re early, but usually you go over to where this gentleman here, who’s probably one of the chaps that runs the site, and you’ll get your pitch number and stuff. This is your reception here. And this is where you usually come to get your uh your stuff. Right. That’s Andy. He’s uh the guy the warden called us and said, “Actually, you can pull in behind this guy. So, we clear a bit of traffic.” Do that now. Right over that one. How you doing? You okay? Let me just wait for a sec. See if anyone does come in behind. Yeah, we’re putting him on the road. Yeah. Thank you. On ferry. Okay. I’m just going to get it. Yeah. Okay. Superstar. Go straight through. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Get the email through. Super. I don’t know if you heard that there, but the gentleman here has put me in the far right lane just because um we can uh basically go straight to our ferry pitch. So, uh that’s handy in it. James is just going to get me the envelope now. What you got? Did we win? Here you go, sir. Thank you very much. Thank you. Did you see that gentleman even opened the barrier for us? That’s top quality service, in it, James. Yeah. Top quality. We’re here somewhere. The opening of packages is where bit Okay, we’re right around there. This is the campsite. These the fairy pictures. Fairy pictures. Dog lip somewhere. I’m in that one there. Oh, that’s good. It I got my own pitch. That’s what it says. Nice front. So, we’re pulling that face forward, I think. It looks like it lifts at the front. So, our pitch is just along here. [Music] So, this is a Yeah, I can e back into it. Back into it. Yeah, that’s our pitch just over there. Yeah. And this is the area of the um campsite of the black horse. Looks decent. And what we need, won’t it? Yeah. Get in between these lines. We’re only staying there for a night, so it’s all right. Look at the screen. So, right. Right. So, we’re pitched up. I don’t know if you saw that, but the one the gentleman here that runs the estate um put us through cuz we’re on a ferry pitch, which was great. And then he came he asked me if we had the barrier code, which I’ve got, and he kindly opened it anyway. So, that was really, really nice. So, uh just top quality service from the Caravan Motor Home Club. Thank you very much. We’re uh we’re just going to check if we’re level then we’ll level up if not because it’s obviously hard sleeping on a bit a bit it’s hard sleeping on the wonk and um yeah I don’t want the kids to roll out of bed and then we’re going to get a drink I think and just chill out see what we can explore around the site in the area. Yeah. Cool. Right. See you in a bit. If you’re ever wondering that’s how I check we’re level. I’ve got a little level at the back here. We put on the table there. I put it on the floor. Right. This is the power lead being connected. So, my old boat at home used to just plug it in the side. Um, but this one you open this with the batteries and then it fold it goes underneath which is uh which is odd but it works, doesn’t it? Yeah. Go through here. Can I go? It’s a little bit different to some other ones to be honest. And then that goes. The rule is that you’ve roll this out fully cuz it can get really hot and then that’s how fires can be caused. Yeah. So the plugs are all the way over here. And then you just got to bring it over here working over there. Yeah. I think it’s that one over there. Yeah. Yeah. And then you’ve got the um electrics. I think we’re on this one. Just here and that’s it. That’ll do. Just watch where that camera’s pointing. Yeah. And there we are. All on. Yeah. So, we’ve arrived and everyone’s left. So, it must be us. Do you reckon, James? Yeah. It must be something we’ve said. So, whilst whilst it’s empty and no one’s here, let’s take you for a quick tour of the services what you get for a ferry pitch. Okay, let’s go. So James has already shown you where the electricity is, which is here. Um, so I guess you pick your closest one. We’re quite fortunate actually. We’ve got our own little bay. It’s usually you’re just on either that or, you know, it’s feels like we got our own little secluded bay. And then let’s go to the bins. Now I’d say the p I’d say the pitches were level, but because I’ve got the air suspension whacked up cuz I’ve obviously carrying quite a bit of load, um, we’re on a bit of a bit of a squiff. So we’ve put it on the chocks, which you’ve just seen. one. So, yeah, short walk and I’ll show you where the services are. Well-maintained site. The people here have uh set a good I never meet them cuz usually we come here at night. You got your bins. The lids are really, really heavy. Heavy. That’s to stop things getting blown away. Got your waste water, your drinking water here, so you can just fill up a jerry can. And then they’re doing the cleaning now, but you’ve got your bathrooms, your showers, and everything there. That’s the way you actually get through to the main campsite. That was the gents which is closest to us. You got the ladies toilets here. This is where we came in. You’ve got a motor home service point here. You’ve got access to your laundry facilities which um what did you get? 4 gets Yeah. four one pound coins gives you whatever the spin and cycle. So then you got uh you can close wash there as well. Little folding area. It’s all good, isn’t it? Then this is your about home service point as just mentioned. You got your lift up grids. So if you needed to fill up water before you came on the pitch or you’re leaving, so you can use this. Jame is definitely going to use this later, which is the dishwashing area. Oh, come on. This is where we’re going to wash up so we don’t end up dishy. We don’t need to use the stuff in the motor at home for this one. Baby and toddler washroom. It might not be open, but yeah. So, if you’ve brought kitty, you can tell them and they’ll give you a key for this and it will tend to have like a little bath in there, little toilet and things like that. So, it’s handy. You’ve probably seen them on our other videos. You got disabled access toilets just here. This is the barrier we came through. And then there’s a mini tractor. And you cannot use the mini tractor if you wanted to. No, you can’t use the mini tractor. We’d get in trouble. Here’s another motor home coming in now. And then round here, you’ve got a little information area. Have a look. So these are these are on most the sites if not all of them where they give you some local history and information on bits and bobs. I know these guys. Is this really history? If you’re watching our channel, there’s your Volvo. Hope you had a great time in Scarra. Is this really history? That’s German, huh? Yeah, that’s German. You got a defib. That’s cool, isn’t it? God forbid you need to use it. It’s there. Yeah. All the site information you need to know. Then pull that door off too, James, please. Just pull it tight. And then around the front here is everyone, all the helpful people checking you in. So if you come at night and there’s no one here, this is the board you need to come to. Yeah. So you got all the registrations. This is your reception where there’s a young lady. Hello. We’re doing a video. I hope you don’t mind. So So you have to be in here. So this is your reception where you come in and check in. So you can get some essentials there. Looks like they’ve got hookup cable, Elsan. Some some of them actually have a little shop on site as well. Um, which is handy. So, uh, you can get your essential supplies. Entrance gates. Entrance gates just there. Empty your empty your Theford cassette or whichever one it is. Domestic is in there. Self-explanatory. Yeah, we’ll check out the map for the site and then we’ll um we’ll have a see where the stuff is on site cuz there should be a play park and and things like that. Maybe Jane’s a little bit too old for it, but they might have a football pitch. Oh yeah, I’m up for that. So it looks like a big site actually. I usually come at night so I don’t get to see how big it is. Can I try out the bike? So we’re we’ve come in here and we are here. But the site is huge. Check this out. Right, we’ve uh put one of the electric bikes in. Uh I’ll just show you what I mean cuz our last motor home had the bike rack on the back. I got these uh little electric bikes which uh come in really handy. Let me show you what I mean. You’re going to model it for me? Yeah. So, it just folds up like this, right? Excuse the bluff because it’s probably more complicated than what it looks like. Like that. That fits in there. That goes in like that. Then you put the seat in. probably need about there, James, would you? Yeah. That’s it. In your life. And there you are. Simple as that. There it is. It’s a good little bike, isn’t it? Yeah. Easy to construct. Yeah. So James is going to do a little demo now, but I just thought it’d be handy for when we’re somewhere and we can’t take the motor home, for example, want to go to the shops and there’s shops nearby. Put a backpack on your back and take this. It’s got about a 25 mile range and doesn’t take long to charge. I’ll show you which bike it is in the comments below. So I’ve got one of these little rechargeable air pumps, which is handy. I use it for the air suspension, but if you don’t carry one of these, I got it off Teu. So, James going to model this for us now without me falling over the peg in the ground. You have to have the seat really low cuz he’s short. Yeah. So, completely they they do the speed limits you’re allowed to do, but there’s no throttle on it. You have to pedal. But it’s really great because it weighs I think it weighs 20 kilos if that. And uh yeah, I think I think it was about 400 quid, which uh is better than most ebikes which are, you know, 1,000 quid plus. And it folds up. And then the lights uh built into it. So, it’s quite clever. The batteries in there and you got the lights and the and the rear light on there. So, it’s very very nicely done. This is Uncle David having a go. Sony’s Avengers. He crosses the line. He has won the race. Power, too. That’s all your power bands you can choose from completely off. You got one, two, and three by pushing these buttons here. Got your bell. Then you got your gears as well. It’s carried my weight uphill and I’m just shy of probably 100 kilos. I’m about 98, I think, or 97. So, uh, yeah, very cool. Right, we’re going to go for a little bit of an explore, play some football. There’s a tent zone down there, but I’ve not seen the tent. So, uh I think we’ll just use that space. There’s no one here, but we’ve got there’s two. There’s us and that motor home here. Um so, uh I know it’ll get busy later, but I’m sure we’ll be right playing a bit of football. So, this site has tent pitches. Um so, I’ll just show you. We’re gonna play football there because there’s no tents there. If you’re a if you’re a tent dweller, then uh you might get woken up by some sheep. Stealth sheep. Honeys. Right, we’re going to do a little bit of exploring off the campsite as there’s a pub down the road and James frequents many a pub and uh he’s going to show me what you do in a pub. Oh, there’s a shop. That’s And in it. So, opposite the campsite is a shop. I didn’t realize. So, if you’ve got if you need supplies, milk, breakfast, things like that, or something to do for dinner, it’s right opposite the campsite. That’s really handy. Cheers. The staff here are lovely when we’re all giggle. So, it’s literally like 150 yards from the campsite. Allegedly, they do really good food, which I think is going to be the case. So, uh, we’re going to grab a pew and sit outside, enjoy the sun, and chill. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. So, the sun’s appeared and we’ve ordered a Papa John’s on Just Eat because I can’t be bothered to cook tonight. We’ll save all the cooking, all the food till we get to France. We just played a game of Uno. Loads of new vans have arrived. We even got our sister Pot over there. Yeah. Good evening. We’re going to watch a film. Just chill. It’s delicious cheese pizza. What more do you need than this? What you need is garlic bread from Papa John’s. It’s so good and it’s free. TV, whiskey, and pizza. Agreed. We’re going to watch a film and chill in the motor home for our start tomorrow as we head to France. Come on. We’ll catch you in the morning where we’ll be leaving for the ferry port. See you in the morning. looking. See you in the morning. Morning, world. It’s Saturday. We’re up. It’s about 7:00 a.m. So, we’re going to get ready to get to the ferry port for aiming for 9 at the latest really to see uh if they’ll let us on. We had a message from Irish Ferry saying there’s going to be a bit of a delay. I don’t It’s this new thing where they’re taking fingerprints and stuff. Possibly. Who knows? Or it might just be because the bank holiday. So, we’re going to get there early. James is up. Jake isn’t up yet. He’s having his breakfast. Cocoa pops. Say morning. Morning. I got cocoa pops. I’m going to watch the rest of this film. Electric state. It was funny. While up there, it’s a lovely big bed. Um it was weird to not have the kids come in or my wife in the bed. So, uh it’s lonely up there, but it’s all all right. Uh I left the heating on as well by accident. So, it got really hot at one point in the night. I was like, “Oh, criy.” I had to get up and drink about a gallon of water. and uh turn it off. And now it’s the perfect temperature. So uh anyway, let’s go get ready. Let’s get to the ferry and I’ll see you there. Time to get to the ferry. 9:00 ratio. See, John, have a good um How did they get that big one around here? How do they get it around this? I think is a thing I need to work out. [Music] to be really wide. Oh my. We’ve just left the Blackhorse campsite and we’re heading to Dover Ferry Terminal. It’s usually about an 18-minute drive, but we left early after hearing about delays. And it’s a good job we did. There are over 10 miles of lorries queued in the lefth hand lane. Have a look at this. So, if you just witnessed uh the cues for miles for lorry drivers, that was insane. I don’t know if that’s a normal thing here, but they’ve got police at all ends just trying to manage the traffic cuz it’s it must have been about 8 miles of uh lorry skewed, if not more. We’re now at um Dover. We’re just in the check-in. Um we got here early just because obviously we got told to get here early and uh we’re going to chance trying to get on an earlier ferry. They might tell us to get stuff, but equally it’s quite busy here. So there might be a delay and we end up on the right ferry anyway. You’re meant to be no more than 2 hours before your ferry. And here we are. What’s the time? It’s nearly 9:00. So, we’re 3 hours in a bit. So, uh let’s see if we can get on a ferry. Anyway, there’s the queue. I’m quite happy to pay to if they want me to pay to get on an earlier ferry. I’ve done that before actually at the Euro Tunnel. It cost me a fortune at the shuttle. Sorry. It cost me a fortune. So, I regret that. But I can’t see it costing more here. I had to basically buy new tickets opposed to just pay the extra. So, uh, you’ve done that before, let me know in the comments below. Did you sleep okay? Yeah. Yeah. You good first night in the motor at home? Yeah. Good. And what you looking forward to now? Uh, going to France. Wrong answer. Breakfast on the ferry cuz I’m starving. You’ve had breakfast, haven’t you? Yeah. And cocoa pops. I’m starving. They’ve got like a terminal at the um when you when you’re queuing, but you can go in. There’s Costa and stuff like that. I think there’s one here as well. So, if you need the toilet or a coffee, there’s something here. But this seems to flow quite well. So by the time you’ve got out your motor home, you’ve probably uh moved about 40 foot. So right, so we’ve made it through the first border checkpoint. That was really easy. Even though we had to queue for ages, he didn’t I don’t even looked at us, which is really odd. But yeah, so uh we’re here anyway. Um we’re now going to try and see if we can get on the ferry. So, he’s now just checking in um to Irish Fairies. There’s a bit of a queue again. So, I would I would say we’re going to end up on the ferry that we should be on, but we’ll just deal with it because that’s what we plan to do. We’re through checking and no one even asked for our authority letters. Now, let’s find our lane. Right. So, we finally got to bay 119. As we pulled up, the Irish ferry has sailed away. Let me show you. Just see it there disappearing. So, it looks like we’re possibly going to have to wait for our ferry, which is I can’t even see it on there. It’s 12:00 something. So, uh we’re going to go over to the little cafe area now and get something to eat cuz I am hungry. So, it’s just a short walk over to like the terminal where you’ve got all the Burger King and Costa and that. Um, just head there now. We’re the only people here. We’re all on our own. Look, where is she? There she is. From our lane, we head to the terminal services. Coffee and food definitely needed. You just follow the green pass, but watch out as there’s plenty of vehicle movement. It’s busy inside, but we managed to grab a seat, refuel, and of course, fit in a quick toilet stop. Now, let’s head back to the motor home and get ready to board the ferry. Right, so we got some coffees from Costa. We’ve had some breakfast and now we’re going to sit and watch a film whilst we wait for our ferry to arrive. Our ferry is here. We look like we’re going to be boarding very soon. We’re now boarding the Irish ferry and it’s really a tight squeeze. I’m constantly checking the mirrors and making sure neither the awning nor the wing mirrors clip anything on the way in. It’s so close that once we’re parked, I can’t even use the hab door. It just won’t open. And on top of that, I’m conscious of cars and lorries in the neighboring lanes, making sure nobody swings a door into us. It’s definitely a tight fit. So, let’s see if we actually make it. Right, we’re on the ferry. This is pretty tight, but we’re in. We’re going to have to use the passenger door to get out of because the wall’s so close that I won’t be able to open the hand door. We’re on deck three. It’s a tight squeeze, but it’s okay. Adward. So, we’re uh we’re going to go over a look around and watch as we leave over. Right, we’re on the top deck now. And uh you can actually see France. You probably won’t see on the camera. I’m still in Do we haven’t left yet and you can already see France. It just shows you how close it actually is. Just stay in the distance there. Thank you for choosing us with Irish today. We hope you enjoy nearly there. Right, we’re back down in the motor home about to leave. So, we’re in France. We’re at Calala Terminal 7. Um, so hopefully we can uh deembark, what’s the word? disembark quickly and head to Jablines International. We’ve touched down on French soil and now have about 3 hours of driving ahead to reach Jablines International Campsite. The big draw here is it has a direct bus straight to Disneyland. Three nights cost us €120, but for the convenience of Disney right on the doorstep, it’s definitely worth it. And that brings us to the end of this episode. In the next one, we’ll be off to Disneyland Paris and giving you a full tour of the campsite. So stay tuned. If you like this video, make sure you give us a thumbs up. Welcome to Part 1 of our Disneyland Paris motorhome road trip!

This adventure begins at the Black Horse Caravan and Motorhome Club site near Dover — the perfect stopover before catching an early ferry. From there, we board the Irish Ferries Dover–Calais crossing, which turned out to be a tight squeeze, but we made it safely to France.

Once across, we drive 3 hours south to the Jablines International Campsite, a brilliant base for Disneyland Paris with a direct bus to the park. At around €120 for 3 nights, it’s great value and saves the hassle of Paris traffic.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we head into the magic of Disneyland Paris itself and share a full tour of the campsite.
