Day 2 of French road trip – Chateauneuf du Auxior

Tonight’s view at Chatau N Oswir. But to get there, we had a 450 kilometer drive south around Paris and down to the Burgundy region just short of Djon. We left the dank mist of Theopold, headed down some country lanes before we picked up the Page to skirt around Paris. Pretty simple to do, even though it does cost, but it made for easy driving. We stopped for a cup of coffee and a Jeambon and cheese baguette. And then the sun came out which was absolutely amazing. In fact, it was so strong I had to put my sunglasses on for the first time and the temperatures reached a barmy 18.5°. Happy with that. Once we made the rest of the motorway journey, we pulled off on some more country lanes and that’s where we’re heading just over there. It’s a medieval castle on top of a hill and meant to be really beautiful. This was the last little intake uh leading up the hill to the car park. And the car park’s just here on the left. There’s a smaller one in town, but we didn’t want to risk it in the motor home, so we pulled in this way. And there was plenty of space. We do have to share it though, so we needed to park conservatively. So, we’ve just arrived uh on the outskirts of a small village, Chatau New. Um there is quite a big car park uh on one side of the village which um is used with cars so we need to be a little bit respectful but all the cars are leaving now so we’ve got plenty of space tonight to park up. Um and then the village is just behind me. Very short walk. We’ll probably have an evening explore and then go around have a look around the castle and things tomorrow. But now it’s time for the England Australia rugby game. Be rude not to. Hopefully a good sunset tonight as well. We arrived just in time to enjoy the rugby. A halftime I went and met my neighbors and then enjoyed the sunset. Once it had finished, we took a leg stretch into town just to get our bearings. It was absolutely beautiful, all lit up and I genuinely can’t wait to have an explore tomorrow. Lots of nice smells coming out of the eeries. Although we are having dinner in the van tonight, but we’ll probably have a cup of coffee here tomorrow just to support the locals. It was gorgeous. dinner tonight. Fishcake, peas, and potatoes. And there’s where we’re staying on park for night if anyone is interested. Catch you tomorrow. We woke up to the most stunning scenery. Was so quiet. We watched the mist sink into the valley last night. It was still there this morning. Just beautiful. We were the only people here and I highly recommend it. So, we had this wonderful village to go and explore. We walked around it last night, but I was keen to see it in daylight, and it didn’t disappoint. First on the cards was the castle, which we paid €6 each to enter, and it was absolutely stunning. Wouldn’t be a castle without a coat of arms. We then had a cup of coffee in the square before walking around the village in the sunshine. It was beautiful, and if you’re in the area, I recommend a visit. We admired a few more buildings before we strolled down the hill back towards the van.

Day 2 in France and this time a drive South past Paris and into the Burgundy region to a cute little town called Chateauneuf du Auxior. A wonderful explore and one of those typical French village/ towns that you envisage selling up and moving too. Wonderful.
Plenty of parking – Park 4 Nights location is shown in the video.
