After visiting several places in the center and south of Normandy from faless we arrive at the coast with time to see the sunset in Hunler located at the mouth of the sain river and which is on the list of the most beautiful villages in France. Taking advantage of the last rays of the sun, we begin the visit to this beautiful town which developed around the 10th century becoming one of the most important ports of Normandy being the starting point for different navigators towards the new world and a town that in the 19th century captivated impressionist painters such as Manet or Corbett who knew how to reflect in their paintings the beauty of places like the views Bassin, the old port of Hunler. This is without a doubt the most famous place in the city and the tall and narrow buildings that surround it are reflected in the water as in the time of the impressionist painters. Around the port are buildings such as the town hall, the church of Saint Etchen where the maritime museum is located or the leutinance, one of the few remains of the 14th century fortifications and so-called because it was the residence of the left tenant of the kingdom in the 17th century. Although without a doubt, the most famous part of the port is the K St. Catherine with its row of houses from the 17th and 18th centuries classified as historical monuments. In the port, we also find the carousel where children have enjoyed every year since 1995 between the months of May and October. Next to the Leutinance, we find the current gate, a vestage of the old medieval wall which dominated the entrance to the fortress of Hunler, whose walls were destroyed at the end of the 17th century for the construction of the port. [Music] In front of the current gate, we enter the St. Catherine district. Undoubtedly the most visited by tourists and famous for its narrow medieval streets with half-timbered houses such as Elm Deo Street or Lingard Street where apart from restaurants and hotels, we find art galleries and antique shops. [Music] [Music] This beautiful fishing district is built around the church of St. Catherine, the largest wooden church in France, whose wooden bell tower is also separated from the church, apparently to avoid fires that could occur and lightning striking the bell tower. The church was built in the 15th century by local carpenters, many of them sailors, using techniques typical of ship building. And for this reason, this church has a structure that recalls the inverted keel of a ship and whose interior we will visit tomorrow. Since for today we conclude our visit to Hunler. [Music] The next day, we get up earlier to avoid crowds of tourists and we head first to the church of St. Leonard through St. Leonard Street, a street surrounded by beautiful houses and which ends at the church which was built in the 12th century with a beautiful facade and an octagonal bell tower uncommon in Normandy and which is part of the reconstruction of the church carried out between the 17th and 18th centuries. [Music] The interior features a beautiful wooden vault and 19th century paintings. And as a curiosity, very close to this church was born the impressionist painter Eugene Budin. [Music] We continue walking around the district around the Church of St. Leonard, finding curious places such as the St. Leonard Wash House or Ru Cashan arriving again shortly at the port which at this time is still little frequented by tourists. [Music] On one side of the port we find a treeine square where you can see a mural with different famous characters who are surprised by the beauty of this place. [Music] At the end of the square, we find the Fontaine Des Mullers, a bronze sculpture that pays tribute to the mulleasers, Norman women who collected shellfish, especially muscles, along the coast. From this unique fountain, we again enter the beautiful alleys of Hunler such as Rudelarville with colorful facads adorned with flowers and where we find the salt granaries, two majestic 17th century salt granaries built with stone and an impressive wooden roof and which bear witness to Honflur’s commercial past. Classified as historical monuments, they were formerly used as salt storage and today it is the place where we can enjoy various exhibitions. [Music] Very close to the salt granaries in the so-called rudes petit boucheries so-called because of the butcher stalls that were found here in the 17th century. We find the manoir de Ronville with a beautiful inner courtyard and which was the residence of the Ronville family, rulers of Hunler until the 100red years war and whose interior houses various art exhibitions. [Music] We continue walking through the beautiful alleys of Hunler and next to the manoir duranchville we find Rudelar prison which takes us to the place where the old prison was located and where today is the ethnographic museum of the city with 12 rooms showing how life was in Normandy. This street leads us again to the port to the church of Saint Etchen. Today converted into the Maritime Museum which exhibits sailing ship models, engravings, watercolors, and information about the slave trade between the 17th and 18th centuries. [Music] As the day goes by, Hunfflur fills with tourists to enjoy places such as the port or the St. Catherine district whose beautiful streets we enjoy again as the previous afternoon. [Music] [Music] Walking through the district, we arrive again at the Church of St. Catherine, which we could not visit yesterday afternoon since it was closed. And now we can enter the interior of this beautiful church. Inside we find two symmetrical naves with two altars, one at the end of each nave, separated by a row of columns. And although at first it consisted of a single nave, the church became too small. And in 1496 they began to work on its twin. [Music] And in the beautiful St. Catherine Square where the weekly market is held. We end our visit to Hunler which without a doubt is deservedly on the list of the most beautiful villages in France. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Yeah. Heat. [Music]

On this new trip we return to the coast of Normandy πŸ‡«πŸ‡·, a region full of history, art and unforgettable landscapes. Our first stop is Honfleur, one of the most beautiful villages in France, located at the mouth of the Seine River 🌊.

We begin the visit at sunset πŸŒ… in the famous Vieux Bassin, the old port surrounded by tall and narrow houses that are reflected in the water like in an impressionist painting πŸŽ¨πŸ–ŒοΈ. It is no coincidence that artists such as Monet or Courbet were fascinated by this place.

During our tour we explore some of the most emblematic corners of the city: the Lieutenance 🏰, one of the last remains of the medieval fortifications, the Caen Gate and the Quai Sainte-Catherine, with its row of houses from the 17th and 18th centuries declared historical monuments 🏘️.

We also enter the Sainte-Catherine district, with its medieval alleys full of galleries, restaurants and half-timbered houses. There we discover the jewel of Honfleur: the Church of Sainte-Catherine β›ͺ️, the largest wooden church in France, built in the 15th century by sailor carpenters. Its interior recalls the inverted shape of a ship, a detail that makes it unique 🚀.

In our tour there is also no lack of other places full of history and charm, such as the Church of Saint-Léonard, the old Maritime Museum, the Fontaine des Moulières in tribute to the Norman women who collected mussels, the impressive 17th-century Salt Granaries or the Manoir de Roncheville.

An unforgettable journey through streets full of flowers 🌸, charming squares and corners that transport us to medieval Normandy and to the splendor of the 19th century, when Honfleur became the muse of the impressionist painters.
