Cahors : Is This France’s Most Underrated Medieval Town?

Where is [Music] [Applause] [Applause] heat? [Music] Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel. Today we’re taking you on a quick stop over in a hidden gem of southern France, the beautiful medieval town of Cayor. We’re on our way to our vacation destination, but decided to spend half a day here. And honestly, we’re so glad we did. [Music] We’re starting by this cute central square with big fountain. It’s surrounded by beautiful colorful buildings and uh cafes and restaurants. Locals seems to enjoy it very much here. [Music] [Music] Behind the square, we found real vineyard. I suppose they make their famous care wine from this variety of grapes. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] I didn’t know at all what to expect from Ka. town because uh I’ve never been there before and um all I knew about it that it was somewhere in the south of France and that they are producing this care wine and uh that was it and I was pleasantly surprised because um I love everything medieval and this town is very medieval. It’s situated in the loop of the L river. I think it was very strategic position back uh like 1,000 year ago or so. Uh they could uh defend themsel thanks to to the river all around the town. And uh inside they didn’t have I believe they didn’t have much space. That’s why the streets were so narrow to just to save some space. And uh there is a real maze of very old uh medieval streets. And um I love losing myself in in this old streets and never knowing where you are going to end, just walking for hours and uh find yourself in uh this small charming courtyards which reserves sometimes surprises like uh we saw this very beautiful old wooden staircase. All these sleeping cats and uh colorful charted windows and tiny rot balconies with potted plants and sometimes very beautiful street art. Every corner reserves some beautiful surprises. So all this many centuries old uh historical things to to watch uh care wine to taste. I hope to be back one day because we saw only a part of the town but I believe there are so many more things to to visit next time. Uh so anyway, if uh one day you are coming around Chaos City, don’t hesitate to come and discover it. It’s really nice to visit. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] There are many very narrow streets like this. and they’re really old and medieval. I don’t know what century they might be, but they look very very medieval. And uh it’s a street of shaval bloom white horse. Sounds medival as well. Like it very much. I’m discovering something. I’ve never seen this type of architecture before. [Music] Go go go go go.
