Beaches on Hvar island, Croatia – The best beaches for a summer holiday! 🏖️☀️🌴
Private beach. Such thing does not
exist in Croatia. You are allowed to go to any beach. Kind of regret we didn’t bring the towels.
And you even have a massage that you can get here on the beach. Ah, look. That looks
pretty good. Hi everybody. In this video, we are going to show you some of the great
beaches on Hvar Island, in different places around the island. Of course, we can’t show you all the
beaches on the island because there’s so many, but we picked some selected ones which we think is
quite popular and is something worth considering if you’re staying in Hvar town, if you’re
staying in Stari Grad, if you’re staying in Jelsa, the bigger cities on the island. So
please, you know, take a look at the video. Hope you find a beach which fits exactly what
you want to experience when you’re on holiday. So let’s check all the beaches. So the beach we are
at now is called Pokonji Dol and it’s located 25 minutes walking east of the Hvar town center. You can
go with a car, but cars are supposed to go very quiet on the road. So it’s no problem walking
out here. You can of course also ride the bike. Whatever vehicle you have at your disposal.
But anyway, let’s have a look at the beach. It’s a pebble beach. And as you see, it has a
few places where you can have some drinks, have some food while you’re here. Plenty of
deck chairs you can rent. Let’s go over and check what they charge here, just to compare it with
prices we saw on other places around the island. And now we are relatively early in the
morning. I can’t confirm, but from what I heard around is that this beach does
not get too overcrowded. But as I said, I haven’t tried being here really in the
peak time of the day. So I can’t 100% confirm that. And you even have a massage
you can get here on the beach. And the cool thing is, you look out at the small island with a lighthouse.
So easy to identify the beach. I’m not sure if there’s actually boats running
from Hvar town which would take you out here, but I would assume so. Here’s another
place where you can sit. And what do they offer? Cocktails, beer, pasta. So, food, drinks,
everything you need. I haven’t seen a sign that says how much they charge for a deck chair
here, but I would guess somewhere around €15. Yeah. 10-15 euro for a day.
So if that’s the case then I would say reasonable. You can also rent kayaks. That’s another way of
getting out here. I know you can rent kayaks in Hvar, so you could actually paddle out here.
But the water looks very inviting. So, let’s continue and see if
we can find some other beaches. So, here’s one of the beaches I wanted to
show you. If you are in staying in Hvar Town, I’m not sure what the name is,
but I call it the city beach. It’s located very very close to the center. So, basically,
if you’re on the main square, to walk over here, it’s probably 400-500 m. So, this is the closest
you get if you’re staying somewhere in the center of town and you want to go on a beach.
You see it’s very small but there’s some sun beds. You can also lie with a towel
and the beach is mix of a rock and pebble when you go in the water, but actually
as soon as you get out, in a lot of places it’s sandy bottom. So really nice and of course
if you continue down towards the seaside promenade here,
you also have people lying on the cliffs. So this is basically the first place you
can go on a beach if you are in Hvar town. Oh, actually I just see the sign here is €25 for
sun bed. That’s a bit steep. I think €15 that’s the max I would go for. Here’s another
beach which could be interesting for most people. It’s called the Bonj Beach.
It’s located west of the center of town, probably a bit more than a kilometer walk.
It’s the beach which is in front of the Amfora hotel, one of the
biggest hotels on Hvar. So in theory, you could drive to the parking and then go down
to the beach from there. But this is basically how the beach looks. So you see you have pebble beach
down here in the front, where you have deck chairs, sunbeds. Out there to the right side, it
becomes concrete. You still have sunbeds and it basically continues the further out to the right
side here. And on the left side, where you see mainly blue and white
sun shades, umbrellas it’s basically the part, which belongs to the hotel. If you’re not a guest, you can rent the sun bed down there if you want to
or a deck here. So, this is definitely something to consider. Easy to get to if you stay in Hvar town. So,
I just wanted to show you that one as an option. Private beach. Such thing does not exist in
Croatia. You are allowed to go to any beach. Nobody can restrict you
from that. There might be somebody who would claim it’s a private road, you know, where
you can’t maybe go a specific way, but you can always be on any beach. So
this is how it looks. Carpe Diem beach bar. So it’s just basically a bay here.
Everything seems rocky all the way around. There’s no nice little pebble
beach. So, not necessarily my favorite. We are going from Hvar town out to a beach
called Dubovica which is 10 km from Hvar in the direction of Stari Grad, and we have
been passing by the place a lot of times during the days here on Hvar and we always
noticed there was a lot of cars out there. I have never visited the place before
but simply because of the lot of cars uh parked up on the main road. This beach kind
of must have something to offer. So today we are going to visit it, get some footage from out there,
you know, just to see if it’s a place to visit when you’re here in Hvar and you
want to find a nice beach. And here where we drive now down on our right side, we have the
the small village Milna which covers a few bays. Also down there you have a little bit beach
areas, some beaches, but there’s not much parking down there. So it’s a bit tough to go
there by car. One of the bays is usually full with boats and there’s a campsite down
there. Really nice small place but small. We are here. Let’s see if we can get to the
beach. 9:00 a.m. in the morning and with purpose we came this early. So you can see if
you turn around here – now we were the fourth car which parked down here. I would estimate yesterday 30-40 cars, all this area here. A lot of them parked
also further away. So it’s hard to find something if you come later during the day. And
then basically what we have to do now is to see if we can find our way down to the beach.
The walking path seems to be pretty clear. I mean, you definitely don’t
want to carry too much food, stuff, drinks. You of course need to
bring some water, but don’t overdo it. Remember you need to get back up.
Ah, now we see the small house which is down here Also see the mast of a ship. Probably
somebody would anchor in the bay. And there’s another house over there. But the path is
actually much wider than I would have thought. But of course, not super comfy walking on. Some drywalls, stone walls. So, it looks like you can
actually drive down to the house, but probably there’s zero parking.
That’s why everybody stays on the… And maybe it’s private. Wow, this
is neat. Okay. Private but nice. Ah, look. That looks pretty good. Wow. So nice. I mean there’s only one mistake we did.
We didn’t bring a towel and a swimsuit. You know this was just stupid by us. That was just stupid. So, did you see the sign here? Rocks are public.
The way and the terrace are private. You could definitely go to Dubovica for a beach day. Really looks amazing. And if the coffee
bar is working, then it’s a 10 out of 10. Well, now we got some footage from Dubovica beach. I mean it’s up to yourself, you know, to judge if that’s a beach you would
spend a day on. I definitely would do it. You know go out here and come early in the morning
and spend most of the day. If you need some shade, there’s a coffee bar
here, we were a bit too early, it’s not open before 11:00 but I can see you can also
get cocktails and up behind there was a place which, I don’t know if they serve food but they
had wine and different kind of things, so really a cool beach and I think really worth
the while going out here and taking the steep walk down. Of course you shouldn’t do it for
half an hour, but if you’re going to go for a bit longer time, I think it’s awesome.
Beautiful. Just beautiful beach. Here you can get drinks, food, and basically there was also a
sign I saw up there that you have actually a taxi boat from Hvar, which is 15€ a person, I don’t
know how long time it takes to sail out here, but probably half an hour or something like
that. So that’s maybe the best option actually if you’re not with car, instead of thinking
about going with taxi or renting something. So now we just turned off the old road
between Hvar and Stari Grad, we were driving on and now we’re going down
to Stiniva and it said on the sign when we turned up here 2.6 km down to the beach.
So let’s see how far we get with car before we have to leave the car and walk.
The road seems to be in fairly good condition. So Stiniva is located on the northern side of the
island looking towards the island Brač and I think the total distance from Hvar town would
be something around 10 km . Straight between Šolta and Brač in front of us. Let’s see. Well, you know, when you want a peaceful day
on the beach, you might, you know, put in some extra effort in getting there. So, let’s
see how the beach looks like. Nice, nice, nice. So, now we are on Stiniva Beach. Wow.
I’m pretty sure this is super peaceful. I mean, you really don’t have anything here
except the option just to relax. I kind of regret we didn’t bring the towel.
It must be a great place to go for a swim. Name Stiniva Beach. Maybe you heard about
this when they speak about beaches in Croatia. Actually, the most famous
Stiniva beach is on island Vis. So, don’t mix it up with that one. This
is Stiniva on island Hvar. So sandy beaches on Hvar is not something
you easy come by, but here is my best bet. If you want to spend a day, you have smaller kids,
you’re on Hvar and you want to spend a day on the beach where you have shallow water.
This is the Mina beach just outside of Jelsa. As you can see here, the people are really
far out. They’re playing because they have the shallow water. At the beginning on
this side, you have a little bit stone. But as soon as you are 5m out, it’s just sand, sand,
sand. So really great for playing a ball game, doing whatever, play a game out in the water,
having the small kids running around. This is one of the best bets in terms
of beach you can find in on the island. Only downside is if you come with a car, there’s
not abandoned amount of parking spaces. So, you need to know that if you want to
go here by car from somewhere else on the island, parking might not be abandoned here, but then
you will have to park a little bit further away and walk down here. You have the hotels up
here, so probably you wouldn’t be able to park. So that’s it. Mina Beach. Maybe not the best with the wind today. So this supposedly looks like
a concrete mainly beach and over there there’s pebble. This is the
main beach area of Stari Grad bay here. And here you have all the boats anchoring
up. So we have we must be around 1 and a half, 2 kilometers out
from the center on this side.
In this video, we will show you beaches on the Hvar island, Croatia 🇭🇷
Island of Hvar is pretty big, so we of course did not manage to film all the beaches. However, you will definitely find some which fits your needs. Choosing the right beach will depend on whether you’re staying in Hvar town, or other towns on the island like Stari Grad or Jelsa. And whether you are with a car or not, as some of the beaches are located a bit further away from bigger towns.
In this video, we also managed to visit mega popular Carpe Diem beach on Pakleni islands. You can see what I thought about the beach in the video 🙂
