7 Trains, 7 Days, 7 Countries – My Europe Train Journey starts with @eurail

Do you know there are some places in the world where the sun never sets and it was my childhood dream to see one such place. To see the sun in the sky at 12:00 in the night. I am a 90’s guy. And so train is not just a mode of transport for me but an emotion. And so this time I have decided that I will not see the buildings of the cities. I just have to follow those railway tracks that will take me to my dream. Pehle Aake Pehle Loota Karo Bihari Ho Tum. This journey will start from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, a southern country of Europe and will end at Narvik Norway, the northernmost train station of Europe, where the sun never sets. There will be no fixed itinerary, no hotel booking. I have never stayed in a room like this before. I have just a Eurail pass, my childhood dream, and some amazing experiences along the way . I almost got scammed during my very first train travel. And yes, thanks to Eurail who sponsored this trip and gave me first class passes for this journey. Guys, a situation has happened. Our building is on fire. What happened ? The fire alarm has rung. We had no plans to come here. The police came. They asked for my passport and checked my visa. The rain has started. So let me take you on a new journey where in the next seven days there will be seven new trains, seven new countries, seven new landscapes and my dream of seeing the midnight sun . So welcome back to a brand new series of Desi Tourist and you are watching episode one of my craziest Europe train journey. [Music] Hey brother, what happened? Because I want to make a video. And I had tried to find out if there is a single sleeper too. So I thought I will take a single sleeper. But single sleeper was not available on this line for the next one week and I had to go . So the maximum that I got was a double sleeper in which one more person will be with me. There are other categories in this. When I will tell you about the train in a video from inside the train, that means when I will be telling you about the train, then I will tell you in detail. If you find someone with whom you can be friends, then go while having a nice conversation . Generally this happens with me in the train. But I am taking a sleeper train for the first time in Europe, so I don’t know what kind of experience it will be. So let’s see now. Darius has scared me. So these are the three cabin categories in the first class in this train which is going from Booker to Buda Press which is a journey of 15 hours. So I can’t show you the rest of the cabins but I can show you this cabin I’m in and this is a double sleeper. Okay? So that was it Door. I will show you the whole thing from outside. This is the alley. There are doors for everyone here. The different classes of different categories have their class numbers written here. Okay? By the way, it is written here as well. I don’t know why there are three sleepers here . Whereas there are actually only two inside. So this is wrong. This is a double sleeper . It is called class B. And the single sleeper is class A. And the one with three sleepers is class C. Okay? But these three come in first class only. The sleeping arrangements and seating capacities of the second class are very different types of trains. I have a half-litre water and I have one more litre of water extra. So I kept 3 litres of water for myself. Okay? So that I do not have any problem due to thirst in 15 hours. I also have enough food. I packed from Macd’s and I also bought some other things from a bakery. So I have water and food for the next 15 hours. I am not at all dependent on the restaurant of this train . And what is its rate? Okay? The pass that I have, pass means ticket. And on top of that, a reservation has to be made. especially in many trains You have to make reservations in the sleeping trains which run at night . Fortunately, unfortunately, in the sector of Booker Rest Romania where I am, the reservation is more expensive than the ticket price. So my pass only covers the ticket and I will have to make the reservation because reservations have to be made in the sleeping train . So the ticket for this train is about ₹2500. The ticket for the 15-hour journey from here to Budapest is between ₹2.5 to ₹3000. But the reservation cost of double sleeper, which can accommodate two people and is cheaper than a single, is 40-42, which means about ₹4000. So the ticket is for ₹500 and the reservation is for ₹4000. This is not the case in other countries of Europe. Okay? In all the trains in other countries, whatever I researched and saw online, it was found that if the ticket price is ₹4000, then the reservation price is ₹1000. So 4000 will be included in my pass, that is, it will be free and the price of reservation will be ₹1000 and sometimes it also gets discounted due to the pass. Meaning if you are getting a reservation of ₹1000 on a normal ticket, then with the pass it may cost only ₹500 or sometimes it may be free. I have to take many more trains in Europe. So you will know what price I am going to get for the ticket and reservation in the countries ahead under a pass . So you will also see it along with me. But this is the first journey and I think the most expensive reservation cost was for this journey. And Romania is a little old country. So its reservation system is also old. So it does not have proper integration with the main website of Eurail. So you can book some things online. You cannot do some things. So I was not able to get this ticket of second sleeper online. So I had to come to the station and get it. So yesterday I came to the station. After coming to the station I said that I want a single sleeper in the sleeper category. And its rate was ₹90, that is around ₹9000. And this was and this was for 42 but I did not get it because it was not available. Only this was available, so I got it for 42 Euros and the price of the sleeper category for three people is ₹25, that is around ₹2500. So if you have UL pass, then even if you go in single sleeper, you will have to pay ₹9000 separately for this train. In this category, you will have to pay around ₹4000 and in the category of three people, you will have to pay around ₹2500 per person. Okay? Despite being close, it still doesn’t sound cheap to me. But I did research and understood that this is the only sector which is very expensive. These are old sectors like Istanbul, Bulgaria and Romania which are not properly integrated with the Urals . The condition of trains here is also not very good and the price is also high. That’s why I actually wanted to start this trip from Istanbul . But now you know what India’s relationship with Turkey is like. So, that’s why I avoided it. I also skipped Bulgaria because the condition of trains with Bulgaria is very bad. So I thought I should at least see Romania because Romania is Bucharest from where I am travelling and this train will take me straight to Budapest which is a mainland European country properly. Although that is also in Eastern Europe. But the infrastructure and railway system there is much better and much developed . So the trains after this will hopefully be very good. They will not be like this one where the AC is just working in name. The sound is coming that the AC is working but it is not feeling cold at all. What should I tell you? I eat food because I move my bag here and put this bag here too. I put Bhai sahab’s pillow here too. Actually I will take this pillow upstairs. The cover is not on it, right? Yes, it is on. But whatever I have read about sleepers, research I have done it, seen it and my future expectations are that the engine of my train was changed when it left, it was a Romanian engine and when it reached here, it is a Hungarian engine. So the engine was changed somewhere in between. So basically I was saying that in comparison to the trains of Europe that I have seen and the ones I have seen in research, on paper or in videos, I would give the current train 6 out of 10 marks, so you can understand what kind of expectations I have from future trains.
