Should you take FLIXBUS on INTERNATIONAL routes?

Good morning from Seville and uh we’ve got another trip today. We’re moving. We’re going to go to far in Portugal from here in Seville, Spain. And we’re going to be traveling off Flicks Bus. Flicks bus was founded in 2011 and offers seven services a day from here in Seville over to Far in Portugal. Um the ticket cost about €20, €21 I think. Um yeah, it takes about an hour and a half, 2 hours depending. And um yeah, we got to get over the road to the bus station. We got to make sure cuz they changed the bus time. It’s supposed to be 20 8 in the morning. They put it back till 9:00. It’s not a problem, but let’s go over there. Make sure there’s no more changes and I’ll talk to you when we’re on the bus. See you in a minute. Yes. Fix bus started. its uh first long-d distanceance bus line in Germany in 2013 before moving into Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic in 2014. 2015 brought services to France, Italy and the Netherlands. Whereas 2016 uh they increased their services into Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and Hungary. Once leaving the hotel, opposite is this um mosque looking building which actually has a cinema, a McDonald’s, and a supermarket behind it where you can buy your supplies. Then you cross uh over the road to the bus station. When eventually over the road uh after waiting at the uh traffic lights for a while, I sped the video up here. You uh find your way over to the corner of the bus station. To the right is a slope. So if you have any large cases, wheelchairs, etc., you can take the slope. If not, you can negotiate the staircase directly in front of you and into the bus station terminal building. The bus station is located just away from the center of Seville here on the side of the river in a very walkable location from the city center. [Music] The bus station terminal building is bright and clean. Um, plenty of places to sit and a shop for your conveniences located over the back. There’s two big screens up on the wall showing arrivals and departures and ticket offices located directly below as well as the ticket machines. I boo my flicks bus ticket online previously so I I never had to do this but yeah everything you need just here. So fix bus leaves here from the main bus station. You have to wait around here with the screens behind. And you come out here and all your buses leave from there. You have a cafeteria there. So, I’ve got about half an hour to wait till mine appears on the screen. I’ll get to eat a coffee, then we get going. I found a quiet spot within the terminal building to stand and wait until my bus appeared on the screen. There’s plenty of buses arriving and departing, but eventually my 9:00 flicks bus was stand number six, as you can see at the bottom here, listed Lagos. Not the Lagos in Nigeria, that would be mad, but a different Lagos in Portugal. So, I made my way towards bus stand number six down this ramp across the terminus. I got myself into a foot race with these two older people and I’m pleased to say I beat the pair of them. Now, this station was very clean. There was people sweeping the cleaning vehicle driving up and down. I was most impressed with how clean this bus terminus was. And to my surprise, my bus was located right next to this lovely tram. I couldn’t help but to spend most of my time looking at this beautiful old street tram. Um, it’s corn off. What a lovely display. Not a mark on the plexiglass protecting this lovely tram. What a difference it is to see the way they look after the history in the European cities rather than uh some of the more uh rough displays we have in the UK. But surprisingly, which I didn’t know about, behind that was a more modern tram. This was a uh tram that looks like it should still be in service. This was parked up uh towards the stands in the low 40s, but I was drawn back to this old street tram and uh yeah, what a beautiful exhibit. Lovely to see. Eventually, the bus arrived and it was this beautiful green bright flick bus which was operated by one of their partners in Spain. Uh, I’d booked two seats, my seat next to the window and the one next to me. So, I had plenty of room cuz I suspected that leg room might be a problem and I needed somewhere for my bag and laptop and cameras and battery packs. But yeah, beautiful bus. Couldn’t wait to get on board. Everyone rushed to the front, but uh I made my way on there first and got a look around before anyone else boarded. Cases for Pharaoh were put into the right hand side of the bus. Once my case was installed, I showed the driver my ticket and made my way on board. on. Yeah. All right. Enter. Okay. Thank you. The bus looked clean, fresh, and modern. I found my seat and uh took a quick video. Others on the other side. So, this is my seat in this dark bus. Looks a bit cramped to be honest, but lucky I bought the seat next to me, so I’ve got a bit more room. Let’s go. Once I’d wasted myself in, it became apparent that if the person in front of me were to recline, then that I may have a problem. I may have to sit sideways for the journey to Pharaoh. But yeah, I was just happy to be on board at this point. Um, had to look around. I found a tray table that extended down making a complete racket. Needed some oil. There’s footrest, inseat power, and um, yeah, it was pretty comfortable seat actually. Um, I I enjoyed sitting in it. My seat reclined for a little while on this first part of the journey as no one was sitting behind me. Decent recline, but I left it up once more passengers boarded further down the line on the way to Pharaoh. Once all were on board, we reversed out of our stand, done the lap around the terminal building and out onto the roads of Seville. We turned right and headed over the river and over to the motorway just adjacent to that and off to Portugal. [Music] Impossive. [Music] [Music] Once we were out onto the motorway, I sat back, took in all the views of this beautiful day. And um yeah, I’ll leave you to take in those views with me. [Music] Above each passenger were lights and air vents. Uh the air conditioning wasn’t very powerful to start off the journey, but the driver turned that up later on. Um yeah, it was nice and cool, perfect temperature on board, and uh I sat back, enjoyed the views, and I’ll let you enjoy those with me until we reach our first stop. [Music] Impossible. [Music] [Music] The ghetto. The k. The k. The gh. The gh. The gh. The gh. The k. The k. The ghetto. The ghetto. Let’s see. The ghetto. The ghetto. The ghetto. The ghetto. The ghetto. The ghetto. The ghetto. The ghetto. The kettle. The kettle. The k. [Music] Eventually we make our first stop at Hera um to pick up probably about another 10 passengers. The bus was 3/4 full at this point. Only three got off. Um yeah, it only took about 15 minutes. We was back on our way. This is when I um decided to check out the onboard Wi-Fi. It was there, but I couldn’t connect for some reason. Despite um having full um signal, full service, it just wouldn’t find the internet. We made it back out to the motorway in good time. And it was only about probably another 50 minutes by this point and we reached the border with Portugal. Um it snuck on you quite fast. We crossed the river, drove down the road just a little bit and there it was the Portugal sign. Um yeah, we crossed another river after that and um just to reiterate the point, we found another Portugal sign. Um yeah, firmly in Portugal this time. I don’t maybe it’s a no man’s land in between. sell down the river and no one can get you. I don’t know. But anyway, um this driver was obviously experienced because he then moved the bus into the faster lane uh away from the impending service stations ahead where the police were stepping into the motorway to direct cars off and over for border checks. The bus drivers obviously been there and done that. So, uh, he was in the wrong lane to be pulled over and, uh, we went on through. Now, the scenery in Portugal is not much different to that in Spain. As we moved across further west, we um, noticed that the hills were a bit more prominent, maybe bit more landscaping and the the mainly flat area outside of Seville, but essentially the same. Um, and eventually we made our way over to the Algav to Pharaoh and I took in my first impressions of Pharaoh and the surrounding areas. Just before we reached Pharaoh, we pulled into a service station quite randomly. We parked up next to lorries and um passengers were allowed to have a 5minute break standing in the road in front of the only exit for lorries and cars taking their life into her own hands for a cigarette break. Um I found this quite strange cuz as we were only uh probably 15 20 minutes from Pharaoh itself. Maybe the driver reached his his maximum amount of driving hours but it would have made more sense to have had this breaking. Um maybe however bus station um at least you can have gone to the shop or or you know you’ve been away from petrol station while you’re having your cigarette. But anyway, yeah, we stopped here. Everyone took their life in their hands getting out onto this road next to the service station and um had a quick f break. So, everyone tanked up on nicotine, uh, reboarded the bus, and we made their final journey down the road to Pharaoh itself. Now, when I get to Pharaoh, I know all cities are essentially the same, whether they be large or small. On the outskirts, you’ll find the more industrial areas and maybe the more urban areas. But I was disappointed with Pharaoh. Um the first impression you actually get of of the the town itself, the city itself is rubbish at the side of the road by traffic lights. It’s not a good first impression. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that maybe you should uh ensure these areas are clean. Um because yeah, I was a bit uh um worried about what I’d find when I got to Pharaoh itself. But yeah, it wasn’t it wasn’t anything to worry about. As we made our way further down, if you ignore the graffiti and the rubbish on the road, um we get down into the city and the town itself. And yeah, things become a bit cleaner and uh eventually we get to the bus station which is located right next to the train station in Pharaoh. Very convenient for me. Um and we make our way around the terminal building into the coach park. Um yeah, I as I say I didn’t feel the seat at all. It was a very enjoyable relaxing journey and uh the question being now would I recommend Flicks Bus? Well, yes, I would. Um it’s very cheap, very convenient service and the buses seem to me to all be reasonably new and modern. Um yeah, I mean you pick up delays. Yeah, maybe. Um the seats can be a bit cramped depending on which of their operators you get, but essentially, yeah, great, cheap, very, very good on service. We only got in a little bit late here. Uh I think it was 20 minutes, maybe half an hour late. Um yeah, I would recommend them. It’s it’s a fantastic way to get about, especially if you want to see more of the countryside and the places in between the cities that you’re traveling. Definitely recommend it. And um yeah, I think I’ll be traveling off Express again very very soon. Eventually I uh got off the bus uh got my case and uh made my way to what I thought was the exit. There’s no clear signage anywhere of uh where you need to go. So myself and three or four other people went to the wrong end of the building, turned around and walked back around. Amazingly, the flicks bus had disappeared in a short time and um we got to our exit where I made my closing video. Um I hope you’ve enjoyed this. I’ll leave you with my closing uh bit to camera. Uh and I hope to see you again very soon. Please consider subscribing. Please consider my Patreon. Uh I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I hope you’re enjoying my videos too. And um yeah, here I go. I’ll leave you to watch this. So that was Flick’s bus a to Faroh in Portugal. Uh yeah, very good trip. I enjoyed it a lot. Um yeah, nothing to complain about really. Half hour late, but apart from that, all good. If you enjoyed that, please subscribe and uh we’re going to go on some more adventures. I’ll see you in the next video. See you later. [Music]
