Will vs Europe – Day 10: The Stupidest Thing I’ve Ever Done
Everyone, my name is Will or Willie G and welcome to day 10 of Will versus Europe. We’ve made it to double digits, so that’s cool. Right now, I’ve just checked out of the host that I was staying in the last few nights. And we are just waiting for Oh, door just hit me. I don’t know if you can see, you probably can’t. the 11 a.m. train to uh Marseilles where I’ve got a hotel room but there which would be very nice but it’s not saying which platform it’s on at the moment which is kind of annoying cuz I kind of just want to go there and sit there but I’ll uh we got first class ticket again so it should be very nice I’ll update you when we get to it. Here we are at the platform. I mean it’s not very exciting and it wasn’t very busy but I’ve got myself some fruit. Don’t really know. It’s just like kiwi and mango and apple in it. But don’t really know what we’re going to do in Mar. I’ve seen the hotel is a bit of a walk. So that’s great cuz I got this big ass bag and then this one. So that’ be lovely. But um yeah, the train’s about an hour and an hour and a half. So it’s not too bad. And I’ve just got to wait here for 20 minutes for it to show up. So yeah, I’ll show you the train and like when it gets here. So yeah, I’ll see you in a minute. I mean, it looks like quite an old train. I mean, it doesn’t look very modern, but I’ve got my own little solo seat here. Got put the footrest down. I think I’m going to enjoy this next hour and a half just to chill out and then look at the countryside. Also, these are this is probably the coolest feature of these trains. It’s the bottom that comes out when you uh put it in recina mode. So, yeah. See you guys in a bit when we get to Marles. So, we have arrived in Marles and it is very windy. I don’t know if you can hear me properly. It’s very busy and a very big train station, but I thought it would be quite a small one, but I guess not. However, we have now got like a 30 something minute walk to the hotel, which is great. So, with all this on, I know I mentioned it too earlier, but I thought I’d tell you again and complain again cuz it’s really annoying. So, I might get a coffee or something here and then head out for my trek. Uh, so I’ll catch you guys at the hotel. I’ve popped into a supermarket because I don’t know if I’ll go out tonight. I think today might just be a chill day cuz not feeling the best. I got to be honest. Think I might have eaten something bad yesterday. So, I’m not gonna I’m gonna let you guys fill in the blanks, but just trying to decide what I can uh make for dinner in my little place. That’s actually okay. So, I’ll show you guys what I buy in a minute once I find it. Now, you see, I decided to take a little seat because uh that bag is absolutely killing me. And it just happens I found like the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I mean, like I don’t know what kind of park this is, but look, I don’t know if you can see that down there. Then behind me as well, look at this. I don’t know what this is, there’s a huge building that wraps all the way around as well. And there’s obviously the big waterfall. But I just wanted to kind of sit down and just chill out for a minute cuz I still got another like 20 minutes to go. But I’ll show you what we got from the shop. We got um I got some apple and mango juice, some bread, ham, and there’s a mango in there as well. I know it’s very boring, but it’s just so uh I just try and get my stomach sorted out, but I This place is very very nice where I am. I mean, the bit that I walked through wasn’t very nice at the start. It looked a bit um like run down, but that’s like the same with all the train stations down there. They all And the same with train stations anywhere, to be fair. They’re all a bit run down around there. But then like the second you come a little bit further out, it was Oh yeah, I was in the um I was paying from the supermarket and uh the person on the till called the security on me and they had to check my bag. They thought I stole something. I don’t know why. I don’t think I look that suspicious. I don’t think I look like a guy that steals stuff, but I guess to them I do. So that was kind of annoying having to uncip my bag and then unzip it and everything. But obviously they didn’t find anything cuz they didn’t see anything. That was really annoying. All right, I’ll see you when I get to the hotel. Now, I could go the easy way, my Google Maps is telling me, or I could go up this huge flight of stairs, and it’s really high up. It’s really annoying, and it looks really tall. So, uh, and it would take ages to get to the hostel. Oh, no, the hotel. I’m going to do it anyway. I think I just got crapped on. Let’s have a look. Did I just get on or was it just water? I guess we’ll never know cuz I’m not going to touch it until I look at this video. What’s in there? Oh, there’s a big museum in there. That makes sense. Bloody hell. So many stairs. Sorry about this creaking noise you always hear. It’s just like it’s this bag rubbing on it. So, oh my god, I think I’m going to die. This is insane. How high up we are. I’m carrying like 20 kg on my back. But we will persevere. We have to see what’s up here. Wow. This is very good view. I’m only uh Oh my god, there’s more hills. I think it’s good I’m going to do this cuz I’m only spending one day in here at this place. And oh my god, look at this hill. Turn around. Look at this. Doesn’t look very steep to you guys, but be quite nice walking like this. It counteracts the uh balance this this bag has. So, it feels quite nice. But yeah, like I was saying, I’m not going out or anything tonight. I might just stay in the hotel room. So, it’s good. I’ve seen it a little bit, seeing what it’s got to offer. My one fact about this area or this city. Apparently, it’s the second biggest city in in France. Obviously, Paris is number one. But yeah, Dad just found that information out earlier, but it’s a huge park. It’s very nice. Look at this little walkway. I’ll be honest, France does have very nice parks. I’ll give them that. And there’s a cat there. That’s very cute. I’ll uh see if I can zoom in on that. Look at that little cat. Definitely a stray and has fleas. So, I’m not going to pet that, but I can uh say hi to it. Still 20 minutes away. It just the time just doesn’t change. Apparently, I got to go down here, but there’s no Oh, there’s a mountains over there. That’s really cool. It’s very nice to see, but I don’t know where it wants me to go down because this is all shut. I’ll try and figure this out. I figured it out. I was actually meant to leave the park way back there, but so I shouldn’t have climbed up all those stairs and that big slope. So, I think we’re getting back on track now. I’ve got to be on the road down there, but as you can see, I’m kind of high up, so I’m a bit bit off. Lisa’s scenery is absolutely lovely. I mean, look at this. Absolutely beautiful. But I’ve now got to go down all these stairs. Yay. Well, I’ve decided to take a seat in the shade and just wait 40 minutes to check in. It’s really annoying actually cuz I was like, “Oh, I can get there at 1:00, chill out, maybe go out.” That was my original plan, but when I get there at 3:00, I think I’m going to be dead. Maybe. Look at this. This random dog that’s just ran by. Goodbye. That guy said the same thing. But yeah, I’m going to chill out for 40 minutes, message some people, and then uh I’ll probably see you when I’m at the um hotel for a little review. So, I’ll see you guys in a bit. Wow. I’ve probably done the stupidest thing I’ve ever done flat maybe ever. Basically, there’s two Monteo hotels and I’ve just walked to one that’s 40 minutes away when the other one was about 10 minutes away from the station. So, that is amazing. The guy was just like, “Yeah, you’re at you’re at the wrong one.” So now I’ve got to walk 40 minutes back in the heat with everything. I’ve almost just died and do it all again. So that’s great. Um, so yeah, I actually see you guys at the hotel. I actually can’t believe I’ve done that. I even sat in that park for ages just waiting and now I got to walk all the way back. We have made it into the hotel room and let me just show you around. So, here is a mirror. If my voice sounds weird, it’s because I’ve just had to walk. Like, I don’t even know. It was like an hour in total. Here’s the bathroom. I mean, not the cleanest, but you know, somewhere to sleep. Here’s the bed. And I’ve got the window open. There’s a little TV desk. There’s a little kitchen here as well. So, that’s cool. But yeah, I I think I’m going to videotape. Oh my god, I can’t even talk. That was such a stupid thing for me to do. I can’t believe I even did that. I should have definitely checked the uh actual name of the place before I go ahead and just walk an hour to um a completely different place. But yeah, thank you guys very much for watching this one. I know this one was kind of boring apart from the whole park thing, but tomorrow we’re heading off to Nice and so it should be a bit more exciting then. So, thank you guys very much for watching. Day 10 of the trip, and I’ve finally made it to Marseille! The excitement was short-lived, however, because I am an idiot. I went to the completely wrong hotel, which meant I had to turn around and walk an extra hour with my ridiculously heavy backpack.
