TAVIRA in SEPTEMBER | Old Town Restaurants & Riverside Dining
Today guys, we’re in East Algav and we’re in a lovely charming town called Tivera, right by the side of River Gallao. I’ll spin the camera around. So, there’s the river that runs high up into the mountains in that direction, starts off at Sa Caldera and works its way all the way to Tivera. And we’re outside a lovely little restaurant here, Terratza. Absolutely stunning roof terrace up there. So, it’s got a bit of a an Italian theme and also does tapers. There’s a beef carpatro €15, tuna tata, 14. There’s a poke bowl €18. There’s steaks for €19. Then around the side here, it’s advertising all the tappers. Look at the view they’ve got from the terrace there. Stunning. Also got Ponttoveio there. an Italian restaurant. You okay? I’ve not tried this one. See what they do. The pizzas start from 9:30. It’s mainly pizzas and pastas. That not as nice as the restaurant opposite. Although it does have a lovely terrace. Beautiful. Then next restaurant along the river is the Black Anchor. Plenty of people dining on the terrace with also great views across the river. Beautiful. ah restaurant bearia or real I should say. So I don’t know if that’s two separate restaurants. I think it is. So there’s the black anchor. Plenty of people there. So that’s two two different restaurants. I never knew that. I just thought it was the one the black anchor. Some beautiful apartments in the background there as well. This town’s busy all year round, not just in the summer. Not too busy, not crazy busy, but gets a steady flow of people coming all year round. A couple more restaurants on the cobble streets here. Yeah, it is known as a charming town and I can see why. I’ve passed this restaurant a couple of times and I’ve never actually seen anyone in it. I think he’s just in a bad spot out the way. What’s it called? Castimo dish of the day. You okay? Dish of the day. €10. That’s not bad at all. Cut through the little tunnel. The tunnel. Got a little tourist train. It’s just about to leave. Maybe we’ll catch it going now. Still people boarding. We’ll cut round the back into the main square. So, we come to the main square with all the restaurants. There is a few on this down this cobble back street as well. Got the typical Brazilian churasa. Not tried that yet, but they’re normally always very good. You got here happy hour. What’s this place? There’s a couple of Indian restaurants along here as well. Scoop it food. We’ve got the Indian, the Punjab. You okay? I’ve been there many years ago. Not been for a while. Nice little vibe here, guys. Can’t get the name of that restaurant. We’ll cut down the back street in a minute because all these restaurants are like double fronted. So just down there there’s a back street. We’ll get the other sides of them. I’ll just show you a lovely little Portuguese restaurant as well if it’s open. Looks like there’s a bit of construction going on near it. It’s right next to the church. Can’t even speak. I immigrant. This was our very first restaurant we went to when we first landed in Tira in our camper van. It’s barbecue chicken and fish. And the actual barbecue is in the window there. Let’s get some prices. Um, pulvo rice, the octopus rice, 1650. Bakla abra$,650. Really good prices. No one in it at the moment, but it is a lovely little traditional Portuguese restaurant. Looks like another Italian restaurant here. Adulchita. So many Italian restaurants in Portugal. It’s unbelievable. Nobody in there at the moment. Says best pizza in town. We’ll go down the back streets, guys. Name of I’ve just spotted it. Lavata. It’s an Italian. Manil restaurant that looks very nice. Few people eating inside. Plenty of people on the terrace. Loads. Frangoada €14. PVO octopus algar style €2150. Steak on the stone €25. PVO rides for two people. €39. That’s not bad at all. Let’s see if we can check the food out. Yeah, plenty of people. Try and check the food out, guys. Mainly fish they’re eating there. So, this is the back of the Indian Punjabi. They are massive. You won’t believe how big they are inside these restaurants. some little souvenir shops. So, just down this little side street, there’s a couple little boutiques, got the studio, handmade cards. They do workshops for the art as well. Casa Jasmine Another little shop. We can buy pity pitty in there. Liquors and wine. Never noticed that before. The Santa Lucia restaurant is closed at the moment. Another little boutique selling hats and ladies dresses. We’ll cross one of the bridges to the other side. [Music] There’s a beautiful view of the river. Leads down to Ila Deivera. That’s to Vera Island which I will be doing on my next video. So, hit that notification bell so you get notified for when I upload the videos. [Music] It’s well chilled out here, guys. As you see, very charming. [Music] I’ve never got me wallet handy. Got it in me bag. I’d have to unstrap it all to put some money in. Probably do it on the way back. Well, they’re getting prepared for something here. The stage set up. There’s the the wagon. Stage team wagon. We’ve also got another lovely little square with a few restaurants and snack bars and a tourist information center. If you want to grab some info about the area, you can pop in there, grab some leaflets. Sever Romana, another Italian restaurant. I told you there’s loads over here, didn’t I? And the Bellain brunch bar. Quite busy. It’s just um advertising the cocktails. Can’t see any food although they must do food. Shanty Bar quite busy. If there’s any festivals going on in Seira, this is the square where it all cracks on. Now, I don’t know if I’ve missed it or it’s coming soon, but I do know um this weekend there’s a few festivals up and down the Algav. I know there’s one in um Armon Island. I just read before before I came out. There’s one in Feriguru which is uh over in the west Algav. And here we’ve got another street with restaurants on lots of souvenir stores. But we’re going to cut around the back here. Can’t see any food, but it smells lovely. There’s no name on that restaurant. This next one, Broneria. Hello. Don’t worry. Eat happy. Takeaway to the beach. That’s a good idea. If you’re going to the island, you don’t want to spend a fortune over there, you can get a takeaway, take it with you. Very nice. Got the pharmacy here. And what’s nice to check out the temperature. See, it’s one 113 and it’s 30° got rubies. I think it’s just for snacks, toasties, coffees. And then there’s a little uh self-service vending machines for your drinks. Never noticed that before. Another busy restaurant. Everyone’s under the under the umbrellas in the shade. Food looks really nice here. Got the cataplana there. The portion sizes look huge there. Let’s just see can get you some prices. Starter tuna salad $1050. Fried prawns pity pity $1,710. Got the grilled fish. Tuna steak 17.90. Fish katapana 5250. They do kebabs. Do um pepper steaks. Steak on the stone. Great variety there. And we come along the street that runs alongside the river. There are many more restaurants. Some doing dish of the day. Sardines €9. Can’t beat that. Pork cheeks €15. Fried chicken 1050 and pepper steak 1350. That’s a bargain. Next one along it’s a tapas bar. Let’s get some prices here guys. Tap start off at €4. Tortilla €450. Um cheese and cheetos €9. Bruschetta €6. Next door to that, we’ve got the Indian. And this place, I think it does dish of the day for about €8. And uh you know me. Oh, that smells gorgeous. Won’t mind popping in there myself. In fact, I might just grab myself a little herby murray once I put the camera down. Torino Italia. Another Italian restaurant. We got flavors cafe. More souvenir shops. Then this building here in front of me, it used to be the market. That’s now moved further down the river. What’s this place? Let’s get the name of this guys. No, I can’t. There’s no name on it. It’s covered. Now I have eaten in uh this restaurant. Show you this one here many many years ago and we used to come on holiday before we lived over here. I remember having Caterapana on there. It’s got great views over the river. Let’s see if we can get some prizes here for you guys. What they do? Tapas samos are 450 tart tum 14o. It’s quite expensive. They do the clams €23. They’re always expensive, but it’s quite busy. If you see a restaurant, it’s pretty full. normally gives the impression that it’s very good. Also dog friendly. Don’t think our dogs would sit that quiet outside the restaurant. We’ve yet to test them yet. While the weather gets a little bit cooler and we’ll bring them out, maybe introduce you to them. So, I’ll just pop in here. So, this was the old market. I thought they had more restaurants in there as well, actually, but there isn’t. They’re all outside. I’m really I’m hearing plenty of Spanish voices. Last couple of groups I’ve passed all been Spanish. So even they like it here in Tira. So it looks like um there’s a big queue for the boat. I think it’s 250 return to the island. got a couple of souvenir shops and a cork shop. And Portugal is one of the largest producing countries of cork. There’s a queue for the boat. Oh, it’s gone up. It’s 260 now. Return. I’m not too sure how often they are. Dwat Indian restaurant. Heard good things about that. My point didn’t know it. Let’s check the prices out. Tandoori special grill €11. That’s cheap. Bloody hell. Chicken dishes from €9. Lamb dishes from 10. Rice €250 if they do fish curry €10. That’s really good value for money. And it does smell beautiful. You okay, mate? Yeah. Next to it, another tap as well. That’s really busy as well. Well, if we had smelly vision, guys, you could smell all this making you hungry or making me hungry. So, they do dish of the day. €14 for a three course meal. That can’t be bad. And then above that, looks like there’s a guest house, residential mares. Never noticed that before, I reckon. I might end this tour in a minute and jump on that boat and my next video will be of the island Khanika. Another tapers bars start from €5. Grilled tuna, rabbalo, and lula dada sount. All €15. That’s excellent value for money. Well guys, hope you like this little walk-in tour. If you have, hit that like button. You like to see more videos, smash that subscribe button, guys. Looks like a nice family orentated resort. Great stuff again Steve.❤
Hi Sue & Steve, just one week to go and then we're leaving Holland and drive to Tavira where we're gonna live from the 1st of October ☺. After almost 11 months of preparing our emigration the time has come to say goodbye to all or your family, friends and neighbours in the Netherlands, but we're looking forward to enjoy the rest of our lives in the Algarve 😎and hope to see or meet you both somewhere in the region. After watching almost every vlog that you've made (it was part of our daily routine the last couple of months 🖥), it seems like we both know the two of you already 😁. So, keep up the good work and tchau for now 🥂😁
Hi Steve another great vlog you have us sold on Olhao and we are going over in February, looks like we will be heading to Tavira after that thanks to your vlog , say hello to sue 👍
