A NEW CHAPTER IN OUR LIVES // Camper truck chasing the sun
We always think that we are
smarther than nature. No, we are not. We just have to go more south. The autumn is getting us. I think we’ll drive a lot of more south. Escape this coldness. We already came from Sweden to Germany. And you might be wondering why? Affordable laundry places everywhere. And finally, in Germany,
we can fill our LPG tanks, also. Now, after driving, I think approximately 1000km, while getting tracked
about our diesel consumption. We are surprisingly pleased. We were thinking about if this Kotilo will consume 16litres of diesel per 100km. Then it is a quite good result. But in reality, when we are driving
with the trucks on the motorways. It consumes between 10 and 11 litres
(per 100km) That’s really a good result. Either I’m really good driver, Or the speed of the truck is lowering the consumption so much, it goes to 11. Yeah. 11 is really good result. We were thinking 16,
and we would be pleased. Even if this car has the same horsepower, as our Ducato had,
this has much less torque. So when we are going up hills,
we are going at 70km/h. And on the third gear. It’s a bit strange and stressful
at some times, but when we are driving with the trucks
on the first line, it doesn’t matter. This is different driving,
but still quite pleasent. Butts of the trucks! We are stuck at the STAU. So, traffic is not moving
and everyone is making this safety lane in between the lanes.
So if there is like fire trucks or something
that needs to get to the accident place. They can get through this… And it shows that we are not in Balkans.
Because in Balkans there would be like BMWs
and… – Everybody was pushing. So it’s so polite here in Germany
we like it a lot. So nobody takes, advantages of this
extra lane here. And go past everyone. Yeah. In Balkans, there would be a lot of rich businessmen. It’s a pumpkin season in Germany,
so we are in autumn already. But it’s warm. And I have some gap in my common knowledge. I didn’t knew Artichokes are like flowers. They look like flowers. Something that you learn every day. Hello. From Middle Germany. We drove all the way from dark,
gloomy North Germany, to the… Bavaria. And we have never been
in this part of Germany. Yeah, we are taking
a peek of Romantic Road. Romantic road
that goes, in a southern part of Germany. And here is cute old traditional houses. And we are so excited
to explore this part. And can you see that
we are wearing a T-shirts. So it means we still got
a little bit of warm days left. Yeah. Perfect time to come. Now we’re going to visit Rothenburg and
see what it has to offer. We got our van
on the outskirts of the city. It was like one kilometer walk here. Now we’re going to explore this town. Yeah. Today it’s a tourist day. Then we will escape
the crowds in to the woods. Even if it is off season. Still, there’s a lot of people here. Yep. We have been wandering around here on the city center of Rothenburg,
this is quite nice. I like.- Or a village. And the best thing
about these houses are those, wooden beams that are shown on the walls. I think they are the most cute ones. And if you are driving Romantic Road,
you can see these houses a lot. They look like gingerbread houses to me. Yeah, but the market square full of people. I have to admit,
we are not really used to opening the truck door
and then walking to the camper pod. And this can be kind of draining and annoying
when the weather is bad and it’s raining. Luckily, now it’s not. We did a little mods to our truck. So behind this black shower curtain,
we store our stuff. Ta-da! A bunch of camping gear.
Our levellers and some kind of projects that we still need to finnish
in the camper part. Yeah, they are now nice…
and it doesn’t look like we are homeless. When there is this black curtain. And also we did have a leftover
pieces of the mirror tint. So we did to install them here In this tiny window,
so you cannot see through it. And I think it gives us a more safe
feeling. We drove whole day from North Germany all the way to almost southern spot. And there we are
surrounded by winery. So buch of wines is growing here. Everything inside of a camper is still in its place,
so it’s a good news. This is some kind of recreational area. So big place to park up your van. Even a huge firepit
if you want to make a bonfire. We are so tired that we don’t. We just call it a night
and go sleep in a beautiful surroundings. Surrounded by wineries and wine What are those? – Plants? Here is a lots of them. White wine and red wine. And Portugese
wine in Germany – which is weird. Yeah, they have like
a Portugese festival this weekend on this small town.
Maybe they also grow port wine here?
I don’t know, but yeah… Good quiet place to spend the night. Soon good food coming. We are making chicken and salads
and a rice. And this year, our travels are
a little bit different. Because we have a tight schedule. Yeah, I start at school.
So I’m going to be an engineer. Real engineer in a matter of years. So I bought a new laptop for that and bought a second
screen over here. And as Sara said, our schedules
are circling around my school. When ever I don’t have school, we can drive
or go to walks or do anything together. Otherwise, I’m pretty much… watching my screen. So basically,
nothing changes in my perspective. No. I’m joking. Joni is a full time student,
so now we travel like this. And if Joni is doing a full time
studying. What does Sara do? Well, I clean and cook. No. I will edit our videos. So it’s my part time job. Yes, Sara is a good editor. Yeah,
I love our videos they are so fun to edit, because these are great videos. It’s really juicy. I don’t know what wine this is. Well maybe a white wine
because berries are white, But that is all I know. You can use your phone And AI and it says you it is Vidal Blanc. Or Ribolla Gialla. Well it’s tasted little blank to me. Really beautiful region. We came to admire the gorgeous sunset. We are really close to the France border. So to us this looks very Frenchy. And all the hills around
this area are full of vines. Like you are surrounded by wine plantation. Yeah. Everyone is, going wine, different kind of varieties. Sometimes it’s, these kind of, hundreds
and hundreds of rows, sometimes it’s just five rows and an old guy collecting them. Yeah, there have been lots of
this huge machinery that goes like between the lines, like seven meter high machine. I think it will be like straightening up
the vines and putting the vines, on these, lines over here automatically,
so you don’t have to do it by hand. But we saw this one old guy, picking up the berries by hand,
like a traditional way. But I think he was his own own
five lines over there. Yeah. Who needs wine tours
when you can have these very informative tours with Vantastic about wine? Yes. We just know that
this is the cheapest one. This was Sauvignon Blanc and it was cross breed with the Riesling. So it can give you a lot of more grapes. So I think that one is going to the boxes. What we buy usually. – The bulk wine. But it is surprisingly good. Yes. But really beautiful area. And we have driven so much, our energy id going to the driving
and going more south. So luckily we have
these little pauses always. So we can go walk and
look for sunsets, and look for better wild camping spots. Or something. – Wow this would be amazing. There’s even a fire pit. I think this is just… for the farmers own. Maybe a private? – Maybe, yes. This is what travelling is all about,
getting energy. So you can actually drive tomorrow
more. Yeah. Unfortunately,
we are driving kind of fast pace, but we try to enjoy every moment of it. And this is really fast pace for us.
Because usually we go through Europe in 3-4 week time. And now we are planning like
one and a half weeks. Yeah. But beautiful sunset. We will go to van
and enjoy the rest of the evening there. Eating some sandwiches and something else. We don’t have a bread, because we
need to go grogery shopping tomorrow. Before we enter France. – Out of food.

How do you afford your nomadic lifestyle?
We live on a true shoestring budget. We travel economically, we cook all our meals, we dont visit tourist traps, we enjoy being in the nature and hiking in the nature. We worked traditional office jobs for years and now we live on our savings and investments. We dont believe you need tons of money to to pursue your passion. However, we have learned that you do need to sacrifice comfort, consistency and safety, but that it is possible, very worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes us truly happy!
What happens after van life?

Beautiful scenery and quaint buildings guys. Your moving south for the warmth reminds me of that song in the movie "Midnight Cowboy" "I'm going where the weather suits my clothes" 😂Thank you guys, lovely vlog.
Oh, it's all about choices… I'm going to study also, but I have to go more north and physically be at the school. Luckily there's a friend with a apartment.
But Vantastic saves the day when ever there is new video! 🎉
Wish you well to adjust to your new living situations– studying, new truck, etc.
Good camping guys ❤🎉
I'm jealous
👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹
Don't forget to keep us informed about the pros and cons of your new vehicle compared to the previous one.
Have you visited The Romantic Road
(Romantische Straße) in Germany? Which is your favourite village on the route and why? Or do you prefer nature (like us)? 🌳🛻💨
Vineyards is the word you're looking for when describing your surroundings. Germany is a lovely country in many ways.
Wineries are vineyards. Wine plants are vines and the practice of growing grapes is viticulture. Not a criticism just for your information so you don’t sound like trailer trash.
Oh dear i see what you pass my hometown of Älmhult (Ikea) . Nice video!
The last spot with the sunset … gorgeous 😍 Safe drive ! Yes Sarah is doing a great job editing ❤
🙂🇸🇪👋
Minkä alan inssiopinnot? Kokonaan etänä? Kiinnostelee 😁 koska itekin pitäis keksiä jotain kiinnostavaa väli 1,5 vuoden jälkeen….
Aw, it really is lovely to see you travelling again and being back on the road. I loved the intro and really belly-laughed. I have 2 more weeks of cancer treatment before 6 weeks off treatment and I have a ferry booked to the Netherlands. Can’t wait to be free again for a few weeks instead of being stuck here for weekly hospital visits. Watching your video is uplifting and reminds me what I have to look forward to!!
Nice video! Near Kaiserstuhl I guess… That is fast. Good trip South Truck camper looks great.
Onnea opintielle 🙂
When get to a campsite and it's raining hard or really cold, I often sit in the warmth of my truck for awhile before I walk back to the trailer and warm it up. Nissan truck seats are really comfy! 😂
Bavaria looks exactly as I would expect.
Bavaria is our favorite part of Germany. Glad to see you on the road again!
Looks like your having a great time
Enjoy yourselves
Your videos are also really great to watch, thank you for sharing another great one ❤ wishing Joni great school year, and what a great choice to go to the Romantic Road, I drove a small part of it 2 years ago and plan to do again, so pretty! Also, love Rothenburg, what a pretty small town!

So happy for your educational journey 👏🏼 enjoying your first travels in the new camper too. 😊
I want to thank you for showing me so many places in the world that I would never see. I really appreciate you both and I love your channel
Ahh beautiful Germany and romantic France. You are free free free! Will you guys go to Oktoberfest?
That’s a 👍🏼👍🏼 for box wine 🍷 we call it camping wine as its box shape packs easier and no glass bottles to break. Vantastic vineyard tours are the best ✨
So great to see you on the road again! 🙂 Enjoy!
Good luck for the future, I am glad you have a plan and are working towards it. welI done and good wishes to you both, 😁
