Don’t Skip This In Laos (You’ll regret it)
Vienciana is the quietest capital city I’ve ever been to and the place most travelers skip. But is it boring or secretly amazing? Let’s find out. We are in Viiano, which is the capital of Laos. So far, I feel like it is really quiet, especially last weekend, we’ve been to Jakarta, and there it’s more like hustle, bustle, and chaos. But here I guess it’s quieter but also a lot smaller. We are now in a Italian restaurant I think. And the menu it’s so funny. First of all they wrote Homer Simpson like this. If there’s a problem please let us know. [Music] Right. Um here side chicks. How many chicks can you handle? [Music] Vinciana is actually pretty cute with a lot of details. You have so many cozy little restaurants, colorful tuk tuks everywhere. We even found the European Union corner. And as Europeans, of course, we had to take a look. Hello [Music] Okay, I guess most of the people know about the cable situation in Thailand, but honestly, this is next level. Look at this. And it’s all the way down. And here as well, like this is chaos. Imagine something breaks. Holy crap. So many restaurants and cafes and bars. Amazing. This bar is beautiful. And I have the Oh, sorry. airport. I have the feeling so far that LA is pretty chill, especially in comparison to all the other Asian cities. Like, it’s so much more quiet here. Also, so many like electric cars and scooter and just in general, it’s so chill. Like, this is my first impression after only couple of hours, so maybe it will change, but I feel like it’s really a more relaxed country, and I like that. Oh, this will be okay. [Applause] Thank you. It’s normal for us Germans to be everywhere. And here in LA it is so crazy. Already on the plane there were so many German people and here there are so many Germans and in general western people and yeah, it’s really um it’s crazy. And look at the background. How nice. Look at this. Yeah. Vanilla Thai tea. I just order it because of the looks of it. Okay. Taste. I have no idea what this is. M. It’s really sweet. Really good. [Music] really nice. [Music] It looks like a food court, but one of the prettiest one that I’ve ever seen because it’s outside. You have so many fans and lights. And look at it. [Music] So pretty. So I guess we will stay here now for a while. Okay. So now it’s morning and we have free breakfast because they are just trying how it tastes. We’re just so cool. And this is it. No coffee though, but that’s fine. So let’s taste it. And yeah, but so cute that just for free. You never get a high strawberry jam and unsalted butter. Sounds good. Then we just use the spoon. Okay. Well, different. It’s okay. It’s okay. But it was free, so I don’t complain. Okay. Even though the breakfast wasn’t bad, but not enough. So now we are in a cute cafe and I ordered some bowl and wait I have to show you first of all you sit on the floor about your shoes and it’s too cute. M look at this bowl. Looks so nice and how cute it always becomes with the blend. So I would recommend that you bring some cash because it’s not really common to pay with card here even in the supermarket. So just that you know bring a lot of cash. This is the victory monument in Vienna. It was built to honor the people who fought to gain independence from France. It’s one of the main landmarks here. He asked me to take a picture, so I thought, why not? When you’re used to Asian traffic, this is nothing. It is so quiet here, like the whole city. But I guess only 780,000 people live here. So not that many actually. I guess it’s pretty small. In whole last I guess there are 7 million, 7 and 12 million if I’m correct. So that’s really a chill Asian country. So if you’re looking for something more relaxing, come to Laos. And by the way, it is so cheap. It is really, really cheap. And now we will go up there. [Music] Inside the Victory Monument, you really get to see the details up close. I love the Lao style architecture. It’s called Le Oceanin Patukai style. I hope I pronounce it correctly and has all this beautiful patterns and ornaments. And once you reach the top, you get such a nice view over Vienciana. [Music] here. Not many people. So, it was 30,000 for four in. No idea how much that is. I will put it on the screen, but I can recommend it because you have a really nice view and like the building in general looks nice, but it is extremely hot. Extremely hot. So, be prepared. [Music] It’s a bit scary when you’re afraid of heights because it isn’t that high and it’s pretty narrow. But look at it. In the back, you can see the mountains, you can see the city. And it’s crazy because in Asia you have so many high buildings and skyscrapers, but not here. [Music] It’s so quiet here and not touristic at all. I guess it’s more like the where the people live. Like there’s not much going on, but it’s so nice and quiet. This is Tatam, also called the Black Stupa. This mysterious tower is said to enshrine a dormant sevenheaded serpent that once protected Vienciana from destruction. [Music] last day in Vianiana or Vianiana. I forgot how you pronounce it. So, sorry about that. It’s our last day and we will just have breakfast. You know what’s really nice when the town is small and walkable. And by the way, in case you don’t know it, try it. Just like it with olive oil. I’m so obsessed with it now and addicted. I have so much at home because it’s my favorite snack now. So delicious. [Music] Classic club sandwich for breakfast. So delicious. But the portion is huge. They have so many western food here. And to be honest, I was really surprised because I thought I don’t know that it’s only Asian food. Yeah. But really a lot of Western food. The vegetables are so fresh. I don’t know how they are doing it, but it’s so much better than what I’m used to from Europe. Except Italy, but that’s it. So, I just wanted to show the accommodation. It was Villa de Mikong and it’s so cute. Look, you have like many bungalows and it’s so green. They have so many nice decorations. Guess you can also sit there. It’s for everybody, but you also have your own private balcony for each bungalow. So, I can really recommend this one. And it was cheap. I forgot how much it was, but it was cheap. I guess €29 per night, maybe. And this was our boom with our own patio. And you just have like a bedroom and a bathroom. I won’t show it because it’s a mess because we are packing. But honestly, I can like it’s completely nice. The area is good. So definitely worth to check out. So that was the first part of the Laos trip because we will go now to the train station and then take the train to Luang Prabang or however you pronounce that one. So stay tuned if you want to see next part. So far I really like Laos. If you want to come to more chilled Asian country, then LA is your place to go. I feel like you also come here because of the nature, not so much the cities because they are pretty small. The people are so friendly. The food is good. So much western food, which surprised me actually. It’s cheap. Just bring cash with you. But here’s so many ATMs, so that’s not a problem at all. And all of them worked. Other than that, it was really nice so far. And I’m looking forward to the next part of the journey. So stay tuned. Bye. Oh, and make sure to subscribe to my channel if you like that video. See you in the next one. Bye. [Music]
