COMMENT j’ai pris le CONTRÔLE de la MOSELLE avec un GOBELET | E87

Hello friends! I hope you’re well. I hope you enjoyed the last video. A quick visit to the Prémontrés Abbey. I’d like to thank the director again for allowing me to visit this place for free. It was really nice. Now, I’m taking you to the Vosges. We’re going to go for a walk, see what’s going on. I’m taking advantage of the nice weather. It’s been… for three days, it’s going to be nice again. So, I’m going to take the opportunity to go up a bit to the Hautes-Vosges. Down here, it’s already cold. This morning, it was 10 degrees, so it’s starting to sting, very slowly. It’s time for me to leave. Um… I’m staying a little longer, because my phone has a problem and I ordered a new phone. So, I’m waiting for it to arrive and, as soon as it does, I’ll make my way. I’ll take you with me. We’ll see what’s going on elsewhere. Come on, let’s go! [Music]
Incredible. [Music] This guy. I don’t know if you remember, I already told you about this place. We’re near Zion Hill. It’s a place of pilgrimage. Okay, I’ll give you a quick one. So, apparently, they found oil there, in Zion. And that means that now, they have the Zion-sations. Yeah, I know, it’s muddy. [Music] You see, I already passed here three months ago now, maybe even a little longer. And it was still, or it was already, under construction. So, I don’t know, they’re rebuilding the road there, for, I don’t know, at least 20 km, maybe even more. It takes a crazy amount of time, though. It’s crazy. Incredible. You go to China, they do it in two days. Not the same means. Fewer people there too, eh. No, there are fewer people here. I’m talking nonsense. Okay, guys, we’ve just arrived in the Vosges (88). We’re not far from Épinal, 35 km. Mirecourt, 20 km. And we’re continuing. We still have a few kilometers to go. [Music] Hi Franin, a quick hello to you. [Music] Franin lived around here, in Remiremont. Well, I don’t know if you’ll recognize anything here. I think it’s changed a lot since you lived here. Well, we have 40 km left until our destination. [Music] The gateway to the Hautes-Vosges. Ah. [Music] Well, do you think you have any idea where I’m taking you? Try to think. I’m not going to say “tell me in the comments” because you’ll get there soon , so you’ll see where we are. I’ll show you. Look, the Ballon d’Alsace is 32 km from here. So that’s not where we’re going, eh. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have told you. Think before you get there. [Music] [Music] There must have been a festival, I think. It’s the Saint-Maurice festival there. So, because there’s a small town also called Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle. [Music] So, have you guessed where we’re going? Deliverance soon. [Music] Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle. Do you remember my daughter, Julie? The one who writes novels and, incidentally, me who also has the Gusgus camper van. Actually, a few years ago, for her birthday, she invited us here, to this town, and we stayed in a cabin up in the woods. Listen, it’s a beautiful place, really nice, not very expensive, and there’s great hiking nearby, a waterfall that flows right there in the woods. It’s honestly really nice. I even wonder if it’s up there to the right, but really nice. Great. I love this area. Yeah, I think it was up there to the right, in the, on the hills, on the balloons. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
Look to the left, the name of the town. [Music] You’re going to pause your video and see where we’re going. [Music] We’re attacking the pass. We’re at 617 m above sea level here. We’re going to climb a little bit more. Not much. We’re almost there. Well, the problem was that I couldn’t turn left because it was forbidden. So I have to keep going, go all the way down, turn around at the bottom , and go back up to get to where I want to go. You can see a bit what it looks like. [Music] Okay, I managed to turn around, and now I have 6 km to go. [Music] Okay, guys, we’ve arrived. You still don’t know where I am. Wait, I’ll show you, but you still won’t see and you still won’t know what it is. Look, this is what we came to see. I’m going down after. I’ll show you. Okay, guys, look where I took you. We’re in Bussang, the source of the Moselle. Incredible. This little thing there, you see, which actually gives rise to this majestic river. It’s crazy, huh? Look at that. Incredible. Hop, I’m going to go how far it goes. [Applause] I’m going to follow it to… to Koblenz. Look. And there, I don’t know where it’s going. It must go behind, somewhere, and I don’t know where. You’ll see it. I don’t. And you see, I don’t know if you see it here, you have the source, in fact. It’s there. And you see, the course of the Moselle is represented, is represented in all the departments and cities it crosses. You see, we’re in Toul, here, there, we’re in Metz, Thionville. There, it’s Luxembourg, and you see, here, you even have Germany. You remember, Sarrebourg, where I was, I made you a video about it. And it’s a branch, in fact, of the Moselle. And there, you continue. And there, it’s super great, because there, you have an incredible meander that goes all the way to Koblenz. And that’s the Rhine. So, you see, the Moselle flows into the Rhine at Koblenz. And so, that’s what I was saying actually. You… you see, you start from a small stream, a tiny… from a… how do you say that? From a pissote, there, tiny little thing, and that actually gives this very, very beautiful river that actually feeds a lot of people, or that fed at the time, because, you know, people gathered at the… on the banks of these rivers and they lived off it: fishing, farming… It’s, it’s super great. I… I’m… I’m amazed, actually. I mean, when I… when I see that little thing there, I’ll show it to you again. It’s too much, it’s crazy. It’s crazy. And you see, there’s… there’s practically no current. Look at that. There’s nothing. You see, look, here, it flows a little… It’s… I’m still going to remove it again. I don’t want to block the… I don’t want to block the Moselle, there. And you see, it’s… it’s… it’s small and the water is drinkable. Look. Well, I’m still going to try to see how far it goes and how it channels. You see, it comes out of there, it goes there. And here, well, I don’t know. What’s going on? Well, there, in fact, there’s nothing, because you see, it seems to me that… Do you hear the noise? It’s channeled here and it must end up, I don’t know where, there behind, somewhere, or maybe there underneath. And so, the camper van that you saw next to it, they’re subscribers. When I got out of the camper van, they… they approached me and said, “Hello Jean-Martin, how are you? We’re following your videos.” Great, super nice, super friendly. We were able to chat and exchange a few words. It’s great. Oh well, I’ll say hello to you, to Christian and Yannick, and maybe one day we’ll see each other again on the road or in your area, over there, near the Atlantic. Come on! See you later. Okay, guys, I’m going to do something that will make me the most powerful man in the Grand Est, or even in France now. You’ll see, you’ll see this. You’ll be really surprised. Look. I’m stopping the flow of the Moselle. Nothing’s flowing anymore. You see? Can you imagine the… the power I have there? Did you see that? A little incredible. The most powerful man around. Look. Cheers. Ah, she’s good. She’s not very very cold. Do you see that? It must be, I don’t know, 15, 16, 17 degrees, something like that. No idea. Anyway, it’s something I couldn’t go any lower. I’d need a hell of a cup to do it. And you see, like in many places like this, there are people who come to put their plaques there. You see here, the retirees from the Moselle hydroelectric power stations. Lots of Germans. Amicale des Diables de Cornimont 1939. Incredible. Last little look. I don’t remember if I filmed this thing for you. That was erected… by the prefect [Laughter] in 1965. So, the subscribers have left, there, now, they’ve gone back down to Épinal. And I’m going to take my piece of Moselle and I’m certainly going to go down here, not very far, maybe, I don’t know, 500 m. There’s a parking lot that’s flat and where I can sleep. Yes, I wanted to tell you again that from the source, here where I’m sitting, to the confluence of the Rhine at Koblenz, there are, as the crow flies, about 290 km. And on the other hand, the course of the Moselle, through the meanders that I showed you earlier, well, is 550 km long. So it passes… it passes through places, as I told you, which are… which are magnificent, which… if you’re in the area, what would be interesting to do is, at the limit, you start here at the source and you go to… to Koblenz. Okay, I’m going back to the camper van. I’m going to park down there. It’s past 4 p.m. and I’m going to prepare my little meal quietly for this evening and work a little on my video. [Music]
Easy come and easy go. You’re an unfading star. [Music] And you see, I was telling you that it seemed strange to me that the course is already quite or so big here. In fact, it’s not very complicated, eh. Under the ground, here, there… there, it’s full of water and, I don’t know if you see, there in front, look, I’ll show it to you. I’ll zoom in on it. There’s already water coming from here, somewhere, and it’s everywhere like that, in fact. It’s all the water that’s in… in the ground that comes and actually reinforces the watercourse. I’m parked up there. Gus is over there, in the parking lot. [Music] I don’t know what this building is. I’d have to look, see on Google Maps. It’s going to be an old factory. And so, it’s an old textile factory. Do you see this building? It was the old Bussang refreshment bar. If you type “Buvette de Bussang” on the internet, you’ll come across this. And you’ll see, inside, it was full of mosaics, things like that. And it ‘s been abandoned and it’s dilapidated. There you go. Not cool. Hello everyone. Well, I had a very good night here. Super quiet. You can’t hear much, practically nothing at all. In fact, at night, in fact, on this road, there are a few people passing by early in the morning, and up there, there’s the main road that passes by, which I took to come here. But you can’t hear it. At night, there’s practically no traffic up there. Uh, here, nothing. So there you go, super quiet. You can’t hear the Moselle. Listen, it’s honestly just bliss. There you go. So if you’re in the area, you can come and park here. We’re relatively straight. I say “relatively” because, you see, I’m still wedged and I’m still quite high up. And luckily I have these wedges compared to the ones I had before. So there, I’m still quite high up. Do you hear the… do you hear the truck, up there, somewhere? I can’t see it. But the road is just 200 m away. There, there’s a bridge over there. You saw it when I showed you the… the textile factory, there, the old factory, over there. So there, it’s passing up there, you see. So there are a few trucks passing, but well, nothing bad. Okay, well, listen, what are we going to do? As usual, I don’t know. I might go and look at the Ballon d’Alsace, over there. It ‘s not very far from here, six kilometers. So, I have to go back down to Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle and back up. I’ll see. Well, it’s quite winding, it’s not very far. As I said, the source, it’s at 715 m and the Ballon, it must be at, I don’t know, me, also in these marbles, maybe 900 m or 800, I don’t know. I have to… I have to go see that. I don’t know anything about it. Well, uh, well listen, you’ll see along the way where we’re going. Come on, I’ll take you with me. You see, there’s still the Moselle there. Well, let’s go to the Ballon d’Alsace. Watch out for cyclists. [Music] [Music] [Music] [ Music] There we are, in the Ballon d’Alsace parking lot and we’re at… We ‘re going to go for a little walk. We’re going to see what’s going on there. So, you see, we’re right on the border of the Territoire de Belfort, here. [Applause] And the Ballon, it must be… so, I don’t know if it’s there or if it’s up there. Here, I’ll show you a little. This is the map of the Ballon d’Alsace massif. And… that’s the Ballon. So you see, we’re here, and we’re going to see if we can go around it. I don’t know how far it is. And so, it’s up there. So, you do… you climb and in fact, you go around it and you come back down there. [Music] [Music] You see, there, it’s the same as in the Pyrenees or the Alps, there’s water everywhere. It’s flowing everywhere. [Music] There are mornings I wake up and don’t know where I am. Another city I’ll be leaving soon. But in between the planes and cars, strangers who became a part of all the homes I’m building on the moon. [Music] You see, that’s the path that goes around the Ballon. [Music] So you see, that’s the statue of Joan of Arc. And why Joan of Arc? Because of that. I’ll let you read. You see, that’s hygiene. That’s going to be the point, here, if you move aside there or there, I don’t remember, like that. You see, you have one foot in Alsace, that one, and that one is in Lorraine. And in there, that’s the Territoire de Belfort. Well, I don’t know if you’ll see it. Just below there, there’s Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle and then you continue. And there, behind, somewhere in the hole, up there, is the source of the Moselle. Way down there at the bottom, that’s Strasbourg. [Music] You see? The Moselle glacier. Here, you have the pass. Here, there, you have the source of the Moselle. So, the climb is quite… quite easy to do. There’s a little steep slope there, towards the end, but it takes, I don’t know, it takes 20 minutes to climb, to get here to the statue of Joan of Arc. And then, it’s practically flat, you see, a little… little climb there, but nothing… nothing bad. And then, it goes back down there. [Music] It’s here. I’m going to go see what’s going on there. [Music] So, Grand Ballon, opposite, somewhere up there, further away. The highest peak, there, I think it’s there. [Music] Do you see the markings there? The signs you see there, in fact, are for skiers, because here in winter, you can go up there. I think there’s a resort where you can go skiing. So it’s nice. So, it’s to avoid falling there. Behind me, you’re in for a hell of a flight if you go down here. [Music] You see, opposite, you have… not right there in front, further away. You have Belfort, Basel, Mulhouse. Here, you have Colmar and over there, you have Strasbourg. And over there, there’s Nancy. [Music] We’re on the GR5. [Music] Orientation table. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So you see, we’ve gone around. We’ve come here. There’s Joan of Arc. [Music] Here, there’s the orientation table. I don’t know where all these… all these flies, there, midges, come from. And we’re going to go there. A virgin or something like that. I’ll tell you that later. So you see, I was telling you there must be a resort, because they’re marking out trails for skiers. In fact, there’s nothing here. The Ballon is empty. So I think that The skiers must arrive there where I’m parked, or near the hostel. They walk up and down and they have fun. There you go. Maybe, maybe I’m talking nonsense, but I don’t think so. I don’t see anything here. No… no ski lift. So, it must be Mary. I don’t know if it’s the Virgin Mary or… because there, it says: “Miner Clearers”. Yeah. Yes. So there you go, that’s it. And she’s looking south. Well, there you go, I’ve done the tour. Uh, on the other hand, there are a lot of hikes to do. Uh, there are a lot of GR here. Look, these are European routes. You have the GR5 that goes through there, but you have GRs that start from everywhere. You can go to, I don’t know, Wissembourg, you can go to Santiago de Compostela, you… you have a GR, you can go all the way to the other side, to the Atlantic. Uh, you have GRs that are… that are more than 2000 km. I… I filmed it before, but I don’t know if you saw it. I’ll try to see if I can film it for you from a little closer. Okay, now I’m going back down. Okay, as I said, uh, what time is it? 1:30 p.m. It took me maybe an hour, an hour and a half to go around. Listen, it’s nice, nothing spectacular, but it’s very, very beautiful, because you have a great view when you’re up there on the Ballon. It’s… it’s really nice. I don’t know what it’s worth when you’re on the Grand Ballon, because that’s not the Grand. The Grand is heavier, uh… because here, what are we? We’re at 1170 m, something like that. The Grand Ballon is at 1400 m and some other things. Uh… so yeah, well, you’ll certainly see the… the Alsace plain all around, if you can have a view… a panoramic view like here. You see, we’re here… and over there, you have the Planche des Belles Filles. I’m going to go see, maybe there’s one I’ll like. Well, as you may have noticed, what was written there… I’ll show it to you again. Number 1. So of course, as usual, I did everything backwards, you see. I should have gone through here, gone up there, gone around and back down there. And there you go, I never do things properly, always the wrong way, the wrong way. So pay attention to what I say, it may not be true. Come on, let’s continue over there. We’re not far. There you go, the tour is over. Lots of flies. So, I was wondering, because he said we pass through four departments. Well, there you go: Haut-Rhin, Territoire de Belfort, Haute-Saône and Vosges. There you go, I learned something else today. Well, I’m going to go see what this thing is. There are cars. I don’t know if it’s a bistro or what. Over there, there are two. I don’t know if this is an inn or something like that. I’m going to see that. And so, it’s the Auberge du Ballon d’Alsace. You see… You see, it’s the source of the Savoureuse, which comes from the Ballon, up there. Strange, really. I was telling you there’s a lot of water in these regions. I didn’t see the source. It must be 1 km from here. It flows for 41 km. You see. It flows into the Allan, which then flows into the Doubs. There you go. So you see, in fact, that’s what I always say: small streams make big rivers. So, do small things and in the end, you’ll have something magnificent. There you go. Meditate, did you see that a bit? Come on, see you later. I remind you, I was telling you there were several GRs here that are a few kilometers long. So you see, the GR5, where we were up there, goes from the Netherlands to Nice: 2,500 km. You have the other one, from Pointe du Raz to Venice: 3050 km. So, uh, if you feel brave, you leave the camper van here and you take the road there, you go to Venice. Nice, huh? And you see what’s good is that there are also public toilets here. So that’s nice. Now, I’m going back to the camper van. You see, it’s parked in there. But I’m still going to see this monument there. I don’t know what it is. Is it the… is it the bomb squad parking lot? I don’t know what they were dynamiting, Here. Were there mines, things like that? In my opinion, he didn’t like it. To the mine clearers who died for France. Yeah, certainly during the… well, one of the wars. Yeah, there were so many. We don’t know which one anymore. I think it’s for all mine clearers in general, from all wars and not just the wars, especially the post-war ones. And also something else here. This isn’t bad. Does it work? There’s water. Maybe take advantage of it, because, ultimately, I didn’t tell you, but you can sleep here. And I’ll park somewhere else. Not like that. Here, I’m crooked, I’ll park there, behind, opposite, somewhere. So here, I don’t know what there is. There’s also something because it says “crate”, and I don’t know what it is. I’ll go see there. You see, if you want, you can reach the Pyrenees. A few walks, a horse-harness and the Vosges Mountains Crossing. OK. And in fact, here, you have cross-country ski trails and in fact, when you want to use them, well, you’re subject to a fee, so you have to pay. I wanted to come back a little bit again to the… to this memorial or in any case, this sculpture that I showed you earlier . In fact, what it represents. You see, here, the flowerbed, there, it’s a triangle with here, there, in the middle, there, an anti-tank mine. That’s what actually symbolizes the deminers. And the three arrows there, actually represent the ejection of a bouncing mine, as well as… as well as the resulting explosion. And, well, of course, the man here, well, represents the deminer who dies. There you go. Not cool. So you should also know that there were more than 620 deminers who died. Even today, they are working to save, in fact… to save us, because in fact, there are still mines all over the country and so they work practically every day to clear the old battlefields and fields and that’s it, everything that follows. There you go. Not cool. I admit it. I wanted to tell you something else, about the restaurant across the street. So I wanted to see the prices, because they make blueberry tarts. Well, I couldn’t find the price for the blueberry tart. On the other hand, a Vosges burger: €24. A croque-monsieur: €17. And €2 more if you put an egg on it. That’s expensive, though, a dozen eggs. Okay, well listen, I’m going to eat my usual white sausages in the camper van and that’ll do too, with a salad and tomatoes. It’ll be nice. That’s what I was explaining to you about this monument. You can read it. And the bouncing faces, it looks like this. And you see, I moved the camper van. It’s still a bit wonky, less than before. So I’m going to stay here for tonight and I hope it’ll be relatively calm. Okay, well listen, that’s where this video ends. I hope you liked it. If you did, well, don’t forget to give it a thumbs up, comment on this video, subscribe if you haven’t already, and I’ll say goodbye, until next time. Bye!

Salut les amis ! 👋
