This Is All I Pack For SE Asia Travel (Under 7kg)
So guys, welcome back to the channel. Touching down from northeast Thailand. Today I thought I would do something a little bit different while I’m in my budget hotel here and do my packing list of what I travel around Thailand with or just about where I travel anywhere anymore. This is what I take. And I’ve never done a video like this before. And I thought it would be useful and people can just see what I what I travel around with. So this here is everything I go on trips with now or just about anywhere. This is what I take with me. Over the years I’ve downsized. I used to travel with so much stuff or go on holidays with big 60 L backpacks and year by year and every trip I made I downsized everything where I’ve got to where I’m comfortable now. This is I could go lower. I’m always trying to find ways to go lighter but yeah I’m really comfortable with this now. So, let’s start with the backpack, which is one of the most important things, I think. So, I used to travel with a 60 L, like I said, and when I’ve been around Thailand in the last years, I’ve I’ve traveled around with a 25 L, but I’ve just upgraded to this 30 L bag here. And I think this is the sweet spot for me because I can fit just everything in there. and some things I I buy along the way, like a new t-shirt or something. So, I just got this um Quicks 30 L backpack. Really simple. Um really nice. I was going to go for an Osprey, but I like to be different and I just like the simple look and I really like this this quality made quick silver. I don’t think they’re as good as quality as some of the Ospreys and stuff, but um this bag was £3,000 bats in Thailand, so £70 something like that. It’s really well made. So, next to that, I’ve got my two caps. You know, I’ve got to have me hats and I always bring two with me. Um normally different colors, but this time I’ve gone for two green ones on this trip for some reason. And then it comes to my clothes. Probably the heaviest, well, no, the tech is the heaviest part, but the clothes takes up quite a bit of room. So, I bring four t-shirts and the one I’m wearing as well. So, I always bring colors, mix and match, black, green, gray, stuff that will match. So, four t-shirts, all light and thin material, and the one I’m wearing. So, five five t-shirts, underwear. I used to bring so much underwear, but now I bring three underwear and the ones I’m wearing. So, four pairs of underwear and two pairs of socks. I’ve bought these really light cheap underwear now. They’re cheap, but they’re really light. And you can just wash your underwear in the sink every night. So, you don’t really need a lot of pairs. You just wash them day by day. And um four pairs is my sweet spot now. And the socks, I normally walk around with no socks, but I have two in case I’m going for long walks or something and I can wash them in the nighttime as well. So, my shorts and my bottoms. I like wearing long long pants now a lot. So I bring two pairs of shorts and I sleep in one pair and two pairs of long pants and they are really really thin like ging pants. So yeah, two of each and when the mosquitoes are out at the nighttime I like to have long pants as well. So, my my trainers just breathable, really light night trainers. So, you can wear barefoot in these because it’s the thin mesh style. They’re so light, so your feet will breathe nice and easily. I always bring a separate day pack. This is a foldable daypack. Really light, really thin. So, you can leave your backpack at home and just chuck anything you want in your daypack. One one that will fold up and just fit in your main backpack. So, got my sunglasses next to that. Always got to have the sunnies, right? Got to have the shades, man. And yeah, next to that is my toiletry. I used to have a toiletry bag, but now just get one of these wash like tiny little thin It’s not even a bag. It’s just a um tiny thing that you just put stuff in. A thin what would you call it? Yeah, it’s not a bag. It’s just a case. A little a little thin case that is waterproof. So, I put all my toiletries in there. Now, not a lot. I normally buy toothpaste and stuff when I arrive at the at the destination. So, toothbrush, some uh moisturizer, cotton buds, and yeah, that’s about it really. Just a few things that you need for your toiletry. Next to that is my trusty mini shaver. So, I bought this in Thailand. It’s an I can never say this. Zhomi Zhi and it is the best one I have ever purchased cuz normally these cheap mini shavers they’re crap right they they break after a while but this one is got some real quality about it and it it is basically just like a main hair clipper in such a mini size. It will just fit in your pocket and it will do my hair, it will do my beard, it will do everything and one charge just last so long. So yeah, that is a great purchase that I made. So here is my what you call it? Compression bag where I put all my clothes in. Um I forget what they’re called now. My mind’s gone blank. Um yeah, it compresses it all down. Compression, right? And uh yeah, I like these now. I like to keep organized in pouches and compression bags now. I think it makes it so much easier when you’re traveling. So, I will put my clothes in there and compress it down. So, got the passport, the old British passport. Look, and the wallet here. These two things stay on me at all times, the money and the passport. And here I’ve got my bag with all my chargers, like a little pencil case, a thin light pencil case where all my leads, cables, and chargers will stay. Laptop charger, phone charger. This here is my my bag that I will take with me around my waist anywhere I go with the camera inside and the passport and the wallet. So, yeah, this will be on me at all times when I’m at airports or out with the camera or something. And it’s got enough room just to keep your passport and any little bits you need, money and things like that. So, over here is my trusty MacBook Air M1. I’ve had this for a few years now and yeah, it’s so trusty. It’s still so fast. And it’s all I need. It’s so light and small as well. So, this is where all the vlog magic happens on the MacBook Air. And I’ve got my Bluetooth mouse there. So, I can recharge this mouse as well, so I don’t need any batteries or anything. So, yeah, that’s where I do all my editing. So, this is my super fast external SSD. So all my footage doesn’t go on the laptop. It all goes on my external SSD and all the footage is saved on there. And I even edit from from this SSD as well. So nothing really stays on the laptop. It’s all on this super fast external SSD. Um, here is my tech my tech bag where the extra batteries live, the extra microphone, the SD cards, and that’s where this um SSD will live. I’ve got a backup smaller SSD as well where I back up all my footage. I never just keep my footage on one SSD. I will always do two copies in case something happens because after like a few week trip, you get home and one SSD’s gone down, you’ve lost everything. So, I always back it up. Like I said, I’ve got my batteries and stuff in there. And two phones. I always bring two phones. So, I’ve got my main phone with my with my Thai number on and a backup phone with my UK phone number. So, for any security issues where I need text messages, I’ve got my got my backup phone with the UK number still going. So, people always ask me about how I how I’ve got a UK phone by being here for so long. You can keep your UK number alive as long as you make a phone call or a text message every few months. I know mine is every 6 months. I’ve got to be active on it every 6 months. So that’s what I do. I send a message to myself every four or five months just to keep it alive. So yeah, that is everything I travel with now guys. whether it’s going anywhere. I mean, if I go to a cold country in the future, I’m probably going to need a bit more stuff, but traveling around Asia where it’s hot and you don’t need so much stuff. This is everything. I just thought this would be a cool vlog for today. Something different, something I’ve never shown before on my channel. So, I’m just about to check out of this hotel. The sun has come out today. It’s been raining and overcast here for the few days I’ve been here. And yeah, we’re moving on. So, really cheap hotel. It was okay. Nothing nothing amazing, but that’s all you need to lay your head. So, I’m going to leave it there, guys. Let me know your thoughts. What do you travel with? Do you travel or more? Do you travel then less with me? So, it’d be good to hear some comments. Hope you’re all safe and sound as always and I will see you in the next one. So, take it easy, man. Take it easy. [Music] I’m just trying to give you something for you. I’m just trying to give you something. [Music] I’m just trying to give you something for you. I’m just trying to give you something. [Music]

I live in Thailand, so I have a condo with more stuff, but this is what I travel around with when I go anywhere. It's the same packing list for every trip I take. 👍
Thanks for sharing. Big Like!
When I started traveling I was like an idiot tourist with a 60L on my back and big back pack on my front. Mostly stuff I didn't need.
Then I was mid for a while just one big 60L bag.
Since then I've paired down and gone minimalist. Most places I can buy anything I need.
Great tip about washing the undies and socks in the sink.
Nice video ,my list is very similar except I only have one iPhone with uk eSIM and Thai simcard
GREAT video – but you have a base in Thailand with other stuff right?
Great set up Wayne, same set up as me 😊One extra item that might be worth considering is a travel vest which is like a fishing vest , handy for slim heavy items to be carried on the body just in cast your carry on bag gets a little over weight.
So now that our wanderer with manners has started mentioning back packs etc …. .. some ace sponsers should step aboard.. Show us what your made of. Would be a great time for a tech company, bike company, caps, cool honest companys only etc to start sponsorship of our wayne. Throughly Deserves It! Always has respect and is a brilliant and transparent individual with lots of genuine advice……with ace subscribers❤Hats of to to you Wayne. !❤
❤❤❤
Packing less and being light is the way to go. It took me years to learn how. Really, it's about "letting go", realizing that most places have stuff you might need. My employer sends us on at least one to two trips per year. I look back on all the crap I packed five years ago versus last month…and I just laugh.
🐢We aren't turtles, man, hahaha. Great video, Wayne!
They now have jackets, with which you can pack 3/4 of what you have displayed on your bed.
Why do airlines weigh carry-ons and not passengers? How about the passenger who weighs 75kg and has been charged extra for an overweight carry-on vs. a passenger weighing 150kg?
❤ the minimalist approach , my biggest is the camera gear trying to find the sweet spot
I would ditch the socks and underwear, switch to rubber shoes like crocs but they look normal (361 sells them and you can find Adidas ones too), one pair of golf pants. Tan golf pants will go good with a lacoste collared shirt. With yhat fanny pack hou will stand out as a tourist too much. Get a shoulder strap bag lkke the Russians but make sure the shoulder strap is padded because they will rub your neck. Phone battery pack must be 100 wh or less. You only need 1 hat. Bring a mini umbrella. Make sure shorts are solft because if you walk a lot, they will rub hour legs. 1 short should double as a swimsuit. Sunglasses are a must. Wall plug should have lots of usb slots, old size, c type.
Great job on the video and sharing your essentials and thoughts! I too am a very minimalistic traveler and it makes life so much easier to get in and out and around places unlike those travelers who look like there bringing the entire house with them.
lol 😝 I’m glad that I’m not the only one that gets brain fog when doing a video!!! I think the words you were looking for is a zip lock bag for your wash bag. And a compression packing cube. Really enjoyed watching this video from start to finish. Think that’s just cause I’m nosy and like to know what other people having in their bags. Hope you are well, let me know if you make it to Siem Reap 🇰🇭 Cambodia. 😊
Less weight, less stress. 😂
Last year we travelled for 2 months with hand luggage only, it worked out so well thats all we now take. One thing we do is to pack some clothes that we are ready to throw away. They get disposed of during the trip and if need be we buy replacements.
small tip about washing youre clothes in the sink : dont leave the room with the clohes still in the sink soaking
i was in a hotel in the phillipines and had left a shirt in the sink (was a heavy longsleeve shirt for my trip home as it was winter there ), the hotel had a laundry service i did not use as i had enough clothes to last the whole trip and the cleaner got a little angry about me not using it , found the clothing in the sink and trew a lot of clorine/bleach in with it , by the time i was back and took the shirt out the fabric of the shirt was falling a part and made the shirt useless offcourse the service desk was adament that the cleaner would never had done that , straingely enough the door to the laundryroom was allways open when i whent downstairs after that , when i left the hotel there was nothing left on the bed for the cleaner , i left no tip watsoever
i have learned that you can buy stuff like raisor shampoo toothbrush comb and stuff like that at the place after i land so i dont take that (might put a toothbrush with toothpaste pressed intoo the bristles in a ziplock in my pocket when its a long flight )
one thing i do take with me from home is sunscreen , the asian kind actually bleaches youre skin / prevent tanning
unfortunately im tall even for european standards so i realy need to pack enough clothing as theres not mush chance of finding fitting clothing for me in asia and wat there is is usually pretty expensive (namebrand clothing) , do try to take realy cheap / older clothing with me that can be left behind should i need to loose bagage weight on the return trip , i do have clothes washed now twice a week and take about 4 shirts underwear pairs of socks with me , a jogging suit with hoodie (i wear for traveling mostly ) one pair of jeans and a longsleeved button down shirt laptop in carry on phone and cards/info around my neck usually buy an adapter / powerbank and usb cable in country and put cash in different places on my person and in the bagage … might be stupid but i dont use the atm when traveling
Where did you buy the shaver ?, please , do you have a link 🔗 please
Thanks
What type of T-shirts do you guys recommend for SEA? Merino = too expensive, "functional" = polyester = plastic, cotton = sweating 24/7.
Hi Wayne, do you wash your t shirts and shorts in the hotel room or use a laundry? I guess with only a few clothes you'd be looking for a laundry every couple of days.
Wayne do you have a list of the specific items in your pack? Very useful video for minimalist slow travel. Thanks!
what's the shaver brand?
What do you use for your internet? what cell phone service do you use and recommend. I need unlimited internet, I use a 4g hotspot and my 2 phones and laptop to do my work. I vpn back to USA and then connect remote to my work computer.
cannot thank you enuff for making this video ❤
What SSD do you use mate?
I don't understand how people travel with so few clothes. 1 pair of briefs in the morning and another pair to sleep in, 1 T-Shirt in the morning, 1 pair of day shorts means a week of clothes is 7 boxers, 7 briefs, 7 T-shirts and 7 pairs of shorts. It's just too hot in most Asian countries I've travelled to not to change into fresh clothes each day and unless you're washing twice a week which would annoy the hell out of me. And washing your underwear in the sink means staying in the same place for 2 days until they're dry (no I'm NOT putting on damp underwear). The rest of your stuff is fine though.
i'd probably add a mini hair dryer with 300gr weight or mini portable fan.
Us travellers that have to do regular 'visa' runs but also make videos soon learn that this is the way. Minimal clothing that is quick drying, so it can dry over night. A simple backpack, (Like you I also have a foldable 'day bag') a minimal wash bag and then all the tech, cables and adaptors. I don't trust hotels or hostels security so I always carry my most important items with me. (Passport, iPad (for editing), Cameras, SSD's, Money).
Hey wayne what brand if your ssd drive? How large are rhey. Ie 2t, 2t etc.
