南法蜜月甜甜蜜蜜-上集💕 香水小鎮調香+夢幻划船湖泊+薰衣草花海+普羅旺斯酒莊市集 Provence Honeymoon Vlog-1: Perfume, Lavender & Wine
Whether it’s a honeymoon or a family vacation, this South of France itinerary is perfect to copy. Our 10-day Provence honeymoon started in the medieval village of St Paul de Vence, the romantic perfume town of Grasse, the dreamy Lake of Sainte-Croix, and the endless lavender fields of Valensole. We explored Aix-en-Provence, the heart of the region, and joined a super fun wine tour. In the next episode, we’ll visit the cliffside town of Cassis, the hidden gem Hyères, glamorous Cannes, artistic Antibes, and the shopping paradise of Nice. There’s even a dreamy secret spot near Nice I want to return to a hundred times… but I’ll only reveal it at the end of the video. So make sure to like, subscribe, and turn on the bell! Our honeymoon came sooner than expected. We originally planned to travel a year after the wedding, but with a surprise break we planned the trip in just two weeks. Even with limited time, we didn’t miss a thing, food, drinks, shopping, everything was covered. This village is famous as the home of surrealist master Marc Chagall. Before entering the town, you can see a plaque showing his painting ‘Couple dans le paysage bleu,’ which he created from this very viewpoint. The town is filled with art galleries and boutiques. If you love art, this is the place. We had lunch here, and I cooled off with a Mojito~~~it was so hot without air conditioning! France is world-famous for perfume, and Grasse is where it all began. Back in the 16th century, they started cultivating aromatic plants and making perfume to cover the scent of leather. By the 18th century, Grasse had become the perfume capital of France. Grasse even trained experts who could identify over 2000 different scents. In 2018, its perfume tradition was recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. If you’re in Grasse, you must try a perfume workshop. The three most famous house brands. Each has its own story and signature style. I chose Molinard, founded in 1849, for a one-hour workshop to create a 50ml fragrance from 90 different notes. The class began with an introduction to the perfume town’s history and brand stories. Then explained the three layers of scent: top notes, middle notes, and base notes. The first scent you smell, usually light and fresh. lasting up to 30 minutes, about 25% of the blend. The heart of the perfume, often soft and rounded. They last around 4 hours and account for another 25% of the blend. The final layer, deep and long-lasting. Because they are heavier and evaporate slowly, they can last all day, making up the remaining 50% of the perfume. For my top notes I picked grapefruit, bitter orange leaf, tomato leaf, and white peach. Middle notes: fresh water, blackberry, green tea, and lime. Base notes: rose, lavender, honey, and a floral base. The result was amazing!!! The instructor even praised my creation! The perfume needs 48 hours to blend fully, so make sure you carefully carried it home. After the workshop we were exhausted from the red-eye flight. We grabbed a quick bite at a tapas bar and went back to our Airbnb to rest. Stayed at an island-inspired Airbnb in the hill town, run by the loveliest couple. They even decorated breakfast with hearts when they heard it was our honeymoon. On the second day we headed to Lake of Sainte-Croix for boating. This stunning turquoise lake is the third largest artificial lake in France and even generates electricity. The water is calm, the canyon views are breathtaking, and you can swim, relax under the cliffs, or just float. We rented a pedal boat for 20 euros an hour—totally worth it. Next was the highlight: the lavender fields of Provence I thought I had seen it all in Hokkaido, but Provence lavender is truly magical. We learned that Provence’s Mediterranean climate—hot, dry summers and mild winters. It’s perfect for herbs, olives, grapes, and lavender. There are two main types: Lavender, smaller and used for perfume and oils, and Lavandin, larger and fast-growing, mostly used for soaps and bath products. For photos I wore a simple light dress—perfect for the purple fields. But beware, there are lots of bees and bugs! Bring cash if you’re driving to the lavender fields. Some fields sell lavender oils and products directly—cheaper and fresher than in town. Even the bees approved, swarming around the samples. We also stopped at the L’OCCITANE headquarters. Prices weren’t much lower, but the variety was amazing. Stocked up on this product line. The outcome is still unclear, but the calming scents have improved my sleep. Arriving in Aix-en-Provence, we faced the classic French challenge—no elevators! Back when I visited France as a kid, it never occurred to me that elevators are so rare in homes here. Spoiled by modern life, I forgot I should check first. Poor Kevin had to carry heavy luggage up stairs to our Airbnb. Still, the location was perfect, right in the city center with a lovely kitchen and even a drying rack for clothes. Can’t get over these little alleys. Dinner here feels like a romantic film scene. Dinner was at Les Galinas, a Bib Gourmand restaurant serving traditional Provençal dishes. We ordered a French organic red wine and shared octopus, cod with vegetables and aioli, while Kevin tried the tripe. The aioli was unforgettable. Close to our Airbnb in Aix, Kevin discovered a local restaurant where a grandma cooks the homiest dishes. I ordered the steamed fish. The aioli was absolutely amazing, unforgettable!!!! You have to try it. This fish was so good I had to take a video. Perfect balance of salt and flavor. OMG, too good!! This aioli is incredible! Usually, mayo-based sauces get heavy fast, but this one stayed fragrant and delicious all the way through. I seriously want to learn how to make it! I’d eat way more veggies haha. Ended with French spiced wine and a local milk-oat dessert. We thought the day was over, but Kevin wanted more! We stumbled upon a bar, tried a Provençal spiced shot. Breakfast first, because today was the main event of our honeymoon: From the start, our must-have for this trip was a vineyard visit, and we found the perfect one a 3.5-hour small-group tour in Aix with just 8 people. Absolutely perfect. The meeting point was at the Aix tourist center, just a short walk from our stay. The guide walked us through wine labels, the role of climate and terroir, and most memorably, the traditions of French wine culture. AOP (formerly AOC) means more than just origin. Both the raw materials and the production methods must meet strict standards to carry the label. IGP standards are less strict — some processing in the region is enough for it to count as local. A quick note on the environment: Grapes need about 1,400 hours of sunlight to ripen, and Provence’s Mediterranean climate offers nearly 2,700–3,000 hours a year. Warm days, cool nights, low rainfall, and dry air, combined with diverse soils and terrain, make this region a true paradise for vineyards. By the end we were full of knowledge and full of wine! After the tour we wandered into the local market on Cours Mirabeau. Back in 2024, the market started in the late afternoon. Now the official site says it’s only open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 8:30 AM to 2 PM. At the market, you can find tons of lavender products, local handmade sweets, and artisanal crafts. I thought skipping Marseille meant missing out on their signature square soaps, but to my surprise, several vendors here had them. Plus, all the lavender goodies like essential oils, sachets, and room sprays are must-buys. Before dinner we stopped at a hidden wine bar in an alley. Their wines, meats, and cheeses were fantastic. With our new knowledge, we ordered a rosé—it tasted even better in Provence. Of course, being in the region means tasting all kinds of Rosé. Only halfway into the honeymoon and already so happy. If you’re planning South of France, just steal this itinerary 😉 Which of these cities is your favorite so far? Any spots or restaurants we should add to our itinerary next time? Let me know in the comments! And of course, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and turn on the notification bell. Don’t miss the next episode with even more exciting places to share, including a hidden castle! See you next time!
