Why Cyprus Is The Perfect Winter Getaway | 2025

Yo, what’s going on guys? In this video, I’m going to be giving you one of the best, if not the best winter getaway option for you. You’re tired of the cold, tired of damn rain, and you like, “Damn, man. I don’t want to be here for Christmas or New Year’s. I want to go somewhere where there’s sunshine, I can swim, um, have a vibe, and get some culture in me.” Then Cyprus is the place for you. Here’s why. [Music] So, obviously like me, I love getting away. Um, when it’s very cold here, I like to go somewhere else when it’s warm. But most importantly, I don’t want necessarily want to get on a plane and go to Southeast Asia for like 10 to 12 hours. I want something maybe short, especially if I have a couple of weeks or three weeks or something like that. I want to get away. Well, let’s say two weeks. I have a getaway for two weeks, but I don’t want to necessarily go too far and I want to stay in the European area, then Cyprus is the one. After I did it in December, trust me guys, December is a go-to. And here’s why. So, Cypress, what’s the weather really like in December and January? Let’s dig in. In December, you can get average temperatures on the highs of 18 to 20 depending couple of days. We had couple of 20 22 days but then also we had some lows where we had about 17 again till because of the location of the island and where Cypress is you can get some rainy storms and some cold winds and cold weather um obviously but nothing like Europe where it’s snowing anything like that generally especially in December January the weather’s it’s beautiful sunshine and it’s warm um you might need a little slight little hoodie a little jacket at night, but in the daytime you can realistically walk around in a t-shirt or maybe a little hoodie um long sleeve type thing. But again, beautiful sunshine and 18 to 20 depending on the day if you get a good time. But generally from one I went it was between in the daytimes with 18 to 20. Um matter of fact, talking to some people in Cyprus, they said the year before was even warmer. So it got up to about 22 uh 21 in the daytime. Now when we December, we did a a family villa and um we were in a papus papas side of Cyprus and um doing research and finding out this part of the island is actually the warmer part. So if you want really nice temperatures uh base yourself in Papas in Papas you can get up to 19° a day per day. 19 to 20° in the daytime. think about 19 to 20 degrees. It’s not super warm, but it’s still warm enough where you can go for a nice run. You can go sunbathe if you want. You go enjoy the weather. You know what I’m saying? So, it’s kind of like a sunny destination where it’s not your cold in Europe and other parts of the world, right? Um it the water is very cold, the sea water is cold. Um like we had outdoor pool. Um it it was heated most of the time, but sometimes where the the guy forgot to put it on, it was kind of cold. Um but I loved I love the cold. So I jumped in actually in the ocean and in the pool, cold pools, I love doing that, especially in the morning. So if you like doing that, um Cypus would be perfect thing for you because it’s still man jumping in the cold ocean, but coming out and you got 90° or sunshine. So it’s great. I mean, of course, in December, January, you get, like I said, you can get some thunderstorms and some cloudy days. It all depends. is not it’s not consistently sunny uh every day of the entire December or or January. You’re going to get some cloudy some some thunderstorms generally a lot of thunderstorms happened at night when we were there and it happened about two to three times in the span of 3 weeks but I’m telling you 85% 90% of the time was sunshine. So yes it’s cooler than summer but it’s not winter. See what I’m saying? And so it’s a great uh destination and most importantly there’s so many perks and so much um benefits to going in December and January. So so why is Cypress a good Christmas and New Year getaway? Not only is it the festive season, so you got a lot of amazing times like you know your your Christmas markets, um festive lights, um which is kind of weird because obvious got festive nice Christmas markets but pure sunshine. But still, nevertheless, it’s still celebrating Christmas and still got the a festive um um you know like feeling. But the great thing about Cyprus actually not a lot of people know is because you got a beaches and coastline all that stuff actually you can especially get a car and drive into the mountains and it’s snowy and it’s cold up there. So actually you can get a really Christmassy um feel to it of snow and really cold where you got you know your jackets and hats on and you can see some snow. So realistically, you can you can mix it if you want just sunny obviously sunny vacation. That’s why you chose looking at this video because you want to go somewhere sunny for December and and and January. But you can one or two days you want to get a little bit of that Christmy feel with the snow, then you literally drive up north into the mountains and you can get that. Some of the benefits literally sun, mild weather. So sun very important. If I’m going away somewhere warmish, if I’m going away in December, I want something warm. I don’t want to go from a cold country to another cold country, right? Um, so very mild summer, very mild weather, which is amazing. So it’s not really winter at all there. It’s mild summer. It’s like a really chilled uh summer, right? A lot of fewer crowds. This is very important. This is another great thing. Um, when we talk about Cyprus, automatically people go, “Oh, Cypress, especially the people of England in Napa.” But we we’re not talking about Nappa. We’re not going anywhere near Ayappa in this video. We’re talking about all around experiences for families, couples, single uh people uh that generally just want a good time in December and January is somewhere amazing to get get a getaway too. So fewer clouds, crowds, the it’s super crazy busy in the summers with tourists coming from all over the world. Um everything’s packed, roads are packed, beaches are packed, clubs are packed. whereas December and January so many few I mean it’s cut by times two um even maybe even by 60%. So, a lot of I mean the downside of it is some of the places are closed. As far as beach there’s no beach clubs open because there actually a beach club right next to the villa that’s meant to be very well known but that was closed. Um so it closes all throughout the winter then spring and summer it opens back up but still they still got bars. There’s still a lot of stuff open especially in the old town. Diverse charm uh with the local flavor right? So you can get some of the local flavors and local charm. And the great thing about going in December and January, you can actually experience and get a feel for it in December and January because it’s a lot quieter where in the summertime it’s going to be everything’s going to be packed, everything’s going to be busy. You have to book ahead of time and all that [ __ ] which I absolutely can’t stand. So, this is a perfect time to really take in the charm and the local experience. Like I just mentioned earlier, diverse landscapes. Like I said, if you want a little bit of some snow, you want to even go skiing a little bit, want to spin some snow, you literally drive in the mountains and it’s cold as he cold as [ __ ] up there and you can see some snow. Or you can go into old towns and get some of the oldtown flavor. I always recommend Oldtown, especially in Lemma. There’s amazing Oldtown Lemma. Um there great Oldtown Pos as well and Lana, but Lemma is the best Oldtown. So much to do, bars, restaurants, and stuff like that. And the vibe is is still it’s a good vibe, but very chilled vibe. very more quiet which is still good so you can experience everything and it especially for the Europeans easy travel so guys from England and other parts of Europe easy travel to get to Cypress right I see it’s in Europe um and they they use euros guys don’t forget euros also what I wanted to add too easy to get Cypress and they have two airports the big one is the Laneka airport which up side right side of the island um about about 2 hour drive to PAS where I bottom side of the island. Um there’s another airport in PAS just outside Papus. Um but that’s a very small airport and um flights going in there is going to be a lot more expensive. So let’s talk about some general costs in the winter. Um as far as everything from cafes, local restaurants, accommodations, uh pubs, night outs, all that stuff is going to be a lot cheaper even maybe cut by 50%. You have to remember in some time in peak time everything spiked, right? So in the winter there it’s better accommodating for for tourists or whatever and prices is a lot cheaper. So you can really experience that. So accommodation is great guys. You can you can get better deals on like villas if you there’s a large group of you guys Airbnbs, apartments, even hotels uh because they’ll be doing some winter deals and obviously they want to have people in their properties, right? So you get amazing deals during off peak cuz December and January is considered off peak street foods local eats like in the tav taverns. Um definitely go to Cypress Taverns guys. One amazing local food. The food’s amazing. And it’s like a mesh of Greek and Cra and Italian. It’s like a It’s just It’s great. Very tasty. And local taverns is absolutely amazing, guys. You get real flavor. And most importantly, the prices are really good. And portions you get is absolutely bang for buck. You get absolutely a massive portion. So realistically, even getting starter, main, and dessert, you probably don’t want. You probably have to just go for two because the main is going to be massive. Everywhere we pretty much went in Cypress the mains were really amazing size. Definitely American size which is really good. I mean get getting flights from Cyprus can be as little as 20 pounds if you’re Ryan AirJet. Yes. But depending on the times if you’re going anywhere near Christmas prices is going to be more. I paid 350 um um British Airways but I went from Hephro to Cypress. So that was amazing. Right. So, um, if I can fly from Heathro, I’m happy. Um, rather than going to Luton or Stanstead, right? So, you can get deals. So, if you go literally a week before Christmas, even two weeks before Christmas, two, I would say two weeks before Christmas, you’re going to get a lot cheaper deal. And if you go right after the new year, um, you get a cheaper deal as well for flights. So, look at that. Obviously, flights from the US is going to be a lot more expensive because you are going long haul, right? So, you have to take that into consideration. Um, and during the December period, most every everywhere um during the Christmas period, holiday season is going to be a lot more expensive. So, like I said, if you want a cheaper deal, fly after Christmas or like literally first week of December. So, travel cost can add up, especially when you’re getting taxis, guys. The the most expensive thing is getting an airport transfer, airport taxi. It can run you from anything from €150 to €250 going from Lano to Lamas, even Lano to Pos. Um, so I always recommend renting a car. If you can drive, best thing you could do is rent a car. Now guys, check out my previous videos about renting a car in Cyprus. Um, there’s massive scams and they can [ __ ] you when it comes to renting a car. Um, I say that because you pay a lot of money. like dam I rented it for three weeks, paid damly over450 pounds and it got they gave me an old ass car with loads of like dam 7 to 80k miles on the on the on the on the tank which is a lot which is too much matter of fact. Um so generally go through direct sites and um get um maybe pay more but get new cars. Always request for new cars but anyway go but definitely rent the cars but you can take buses, you can take taxis but generally this is the only three things. Um um if you can if you can’t rent a car then just get you can take trains. There’s trains as well going from Lano to Lamasol. Um there’s no trains going to PAS I don’t think. Let me know in the comments if there is but I definitely know there’s um Lanico to uh sorry Lana car to Lamasol. There’s definitely trains but I mean you can just get a train from the airport get a train into whatever if you base yourself at Lamasol and Pas. That’s why I would recommend you basing yourself either one of these places, Lanosol or or Pafus. Um, then you could just literally get taxi to move around. It won’t be expensive, but it it it can cost. But good thing is those two places and Lana Lana car they have buses, so you could just use buses and it’ be a lot cheaper. So, you’re considering Cypus, but maybe you don’t have you like I definitely want to go Cypus, but maybe I don’t have you don’t have time in December or January. So, let me just talk a little bit about the peak and off peak. So peak season guys in Cypus is June and August. June to August, sorry. So June, July, August. This is a time in Cypus you don’t want to go. Stay away from Cypus. It’s going to be packed, overpriced. Um, and it’s just not going to be fun. It’s going to be a lot of people going into Nappa still going on for years. Um, and it’s just not going to be as fun. It’s going to be hot as hell and it’s going to be packed. Everywhere is going to be packed. So don’t do that. Then you got the midseason. So you got midseason which will be from May, September, early October. midse midseason is still very warm, right? Still warm. You can still swim in the sea and prices are not as peaked or as high, but they’ve dropped slightly, but it’s still very high and it’s still very busy. Maybe not super packed as is in peak summer, but it’s still about drops by 20%. So, it’s still pretty busy. And actually, a lot of people majority go these times. So, actually um they remember schools are still off or schools just about to get back in September actually. So, um, a lot of people that don’t have kids will go during these times. Um, so you they can still get sunshine. So, actually is still pretty busy in mid season. But the the best time obviously obviously you’re not going to get the benefit of being able to swim where the waters and the sea super warm and you can walk around topless and bikinis and [ __ ] like that. But it’s off peak season which is December through February. December, January, February. This is absolutely the best time to go to Cypress, guys. Especially if you want to explore, you want to dive into the local flavors. Um you want to um be a tourist, proper be a tourist tourist and just lower cost guys. Um and you can do all the attractions, see all the attractions without booking in the super in advance and you can see the entire country and experience the entire country on a lower budget. So I always recommended January, sorry, December, January, February. That’s the best time to go. And not only that, you can go there, spend Christmas, let’s say, with your family, then you can spend New Year’s there. It’s a great place to spend New Year’s and you could just enjoy the vibe, guys. I’m I was swimming in January, so I’ll be swimming in February. Actually, in February is really even better. I wish I did stay till February, which I didn’t because I left in January. Um the the weather starts heating up to like 22 23°. So, I think February would be a perfect time to be in Cyprus. And also for winter getaway, this would be considered winter getaway. Winter Gary mean meaning like guys like me that live in London that want to go get away from London the cold and the rain that wants to go somewhere warm um with some sunshine that would be a winter winter getaway and this would be a per this is literally be perfect winter getaway during off peak because there’s lots of bargains and it’s just quieter towns. All right, let’s talk about the best places to stay where you need to just base yourself. There’s literally only three places guys honestly that you should even consider. everywhere else just don’t consider unless obviously if you want to go into the mountains and you want to like get a m mountain cabin and do some snow [ __ ] but I didn’t do that so I don’t know about that but three places guys Lana Lana is going to be the main airport that’s where you’re going to be flying into um Lana is nice but I wouldn’t recommend that would be the third option for me the second would be puff um I love puff for me pathus is number one but for you guys I would recommend pathus being the number two option and I’ll give you the number one option But for me, Palace is amazing because you got lots of iness sites um meaning historical sites. It’s rich in history. Um night decent beaches, not great beaches, but decent beaches, but just beautiful uh sunsets. It’s got a beautiful old town, very calm old town. Um coastal part where you could just walk the by on the coast. Um there’s um loads of things to do. Uh well, not loads of things, but some things to do. And there’s lots of nice bars and restaurants. And it’s it’s a vibe in Pathus, especially in the old town downtown. Um and there’s everything you need. There’s there’s a mall, there’s shops, there’s club, there’s bars, there’s clubs. Well, clubs. Um and you know, there’s a little bit of history. So, if you want a little bit of a mesh, I would always say Poss. Not all, mind you, not all the restaurants are going to be open because there was some restaurants that was closed, but generally most of the good restaurants were open. But remember guys, this is peak season because one of the places that my family loved going uh and we we went there several times um had opening days and non-opening days because it’s off peak and it’s family ran businesses. So there generally a lot of places won’t open every day. So just bear that in mind. But the number one place absolutely which is weird because it’s also in the middle which is a perfect location. So you got Lanica, Lamasol, and Pos. Lana is Lemosol is in the middle and that be absolutely my recommendation for you guys to base yourself. It’s bigger than Papa, bigger than Lanica and it’s a it’s a vibe, guys. There’s lots of things to do this. It’s a great especially for New Year’s. If you want to spend yourself New Year’s in Cypus, if you’re there for New Year’s, definitely go to Lamsaw. There’s a old town, there’s a marina, and there’s lots of bars, lots of clo uh clubs. The old town, there was lots of things going on. Uh we walked around the old town. It was a vibe, guys. A vibe. So I I for me Llama Lamasur was the all around best vibe and it’s the best location to base yourself um in December and January. Easy to move around as well. So you can move go to the Papa side, you can go to Lanica side and you could just explore all parts of the island and base yourself in the middle of it. I mean I’ve talked about a lot of the benefits of spending December and January in Cypress. If you’re new to the channel, don’t forget to hit that subscribe button, hit that like button, hit that bell, too, so you reminded every time I drop a video, right? Let me talk more about some. Not only you getting amazing coastlines, beautiful sunsets, I’m at night is right, sunrises, um you’re going to get festival because it’s remember it’s festival seasons, guys. It’s holiday season, which is end of Christmas, then New Year’s. So, you’re going to get festivals, you’re going to get parties. Well, not outdoor parties cuz it’s still coldish. Uh, but you’re going to get some parties. Um, you’re going to get parties. Uh, dining, great dining experience. And if you’re a beach lover, you want to just and you’re a brave hot and you want to you like swimming in the cold, you’re going to have empty ass beautiful beaches. That’s another plus. I love beaches. Um, I like swimming like that in the cold, but I will do it because it’s great for the body. Another benefit, a lot milder climate versus like north uh Europe, Western Europe and other parts of Europe. It’s not even close, right? So, it’s warm, right? You could still wear at night, you wear a little hoodie, but it’s still warm. I’ll take it all day instead of being in London or being in like Western or North Europe. Peaceful beaches. I mean, talk about amazing beaches that’s going to be piss quiet. There going to be hardly anyone. Maybe someone walking the dog, some brave heart swimming, a couple of people here and there, but generally all in all, it’s going to be quiet beaches. So, if you have a car, you want to explore, you’re going to you going to see some beautiful beaches. You’re going to get to experience beautiful beaches and literally just have some of the beaches to yourself. You know what I mean? Then imagine spending the festive season in a warm climate. Of course, traditionally Christmas and festive season is snow, cold weather, but imagine being able to be with your family, spending that, but in a warm climate where you can go out for a walk and it’s nice and sunny. You can go for a swim, you can eat outside, you can just play outside and just have fun with your family. So, for me, this is a great festive holiday destination. still has the Christmas atmosphere outside aside of the cold and snow the the everything the you know Christmas trees you know festive people are dressing up and all so on and so forth so you’re still going to get a vibe then of course nature and hiking if you’re a hiker man you’re going to love it now because actually this is the best time to go to Cyprus because yeah it’s colder up in the mountains but you can get amazing hikes hiking trails that’s going to be quiet so you’re not going to be trying to fight within other people and literally have the trail to yourself Um, and you can, well, not maybe not yourself, but again, you know what I’m saying? You know what I mean? Very quiet and so you can really explore. You can go take amazing pictures of the landscape and the scenery because it’s going to be less people, less touristy, hardly any people. And most importantly, you can enjoy the nature. You can either drive up there, walk up there, and this is a great time, like I said, to really drive up in the hills and just see the country for how beautiful it is. Then lastly, safety and ease. I mean, absolutely safe country. actually voted one of the safest countries in Europe. Um, so amazing. So it’s pretty safe. Um, again, I’m not saying it’s totally safe because there’s always going to be some [ __ ] and some idiots here and there, but generally very safe. One of the stuff safest countries in Europe. Um, small scale, so easy to move around the country in a sense. Um, still going to take hours to go from one part to the other, but still easy. Great good infrastructure. They have buses, they have trains in most places. um rent a car, easy to get around. Roads are really roads I have to give them. Roads are really good. No potholes, really clean. Um great roads. So if you got a car, no issues there, obviously, but when you go off road, then it can get a little tricky. Um and English, guys, they speak Greek separate and also English. Most people speak English, so you’re not if you don’t speak Greek or separate, um you’re going to be fine. A lot of people speak English. Most people speak English. So English is widely spoken in Cypress. So no matter where you are in the world, you speak English, you you’ll be good here. So guys, what do you think? Would you visit Cypress in December and January? Let me know in the comments. So guys, if you want a winter destination, So guys, if you want a winter escape with some sun, fewer crowds, culture, you’re going to get mild days with some sun, cozy nights, and a holiday vibe without the crazy crowds. So, like I say, you don’t want chaos, you want chill, and you want to be able to move around and ex experience a country, experience the culture, and enjoy the festive season without the chaos and, you know, having to extra book, do this, moving around, being in cues and all that stuff, then Cypress, guys, is the place for you. Um, I absolutely had an amazing time, and I’m definitely going to go back. I’m definitely not going to peak season because I could see it being so chaotic, but I love the off peak. I might even check out midseason, but generally for me, off off peak season is the best time. And again, if I wanted some sun and I didn’t want to go far, like let’s say Southeast Asia, I 100% go to Cypress again because absolutely beautiful and it just it was just amazing time, guys. Definitely a vibe. So, I 100% would recommend this. So, for my people that live in Cyprus, please let me know in the comments what is your favorite month of the year of being in Cyprus um all around uh when it comes to the crowds and stuff like festive season, wherever it may be, let me please let me know in the comments. And my guys that have been to Cyprus, guys, southern part of Cypress, cuz I haven’t been to the north, let me know what your favorite part was in Cypress. for me um twofold daytime family time was 100% powerful not even close amazing I so glad I based myself there but again to at night in the evening was more things to do llama because a matter of fact I’d made that drive so many times um to lamasur because that’s pretty much where I spent all my evenings went out at night bars clubs went out for drinks was lamasur so again if you want to find If you’re not sure where you want to base yourself, base yourself in llamas. But again, um if your family and stuff like that, want like history a little bit all around, you got a car, you can still move around. Poss guys is the best place to be. Um I choose Poss Lama. But definitely I I mean you could do Lana as well because that’s where you fly into, but I only do Lana if you’re going to that northern part of the um of Cypress in my opinion. um base yourself a lamong so you can move around easily. Guys, let me know in the comments if I missed anything. If you want me to touch on something else specifically, let me know in the comments. Um I wanted to do this video because a lot I got a lot of questions uh about Cyprus and I wanted to just it’s coming down to the end of the year.
