Walk Around Lake Voulismoni Near Port of Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece using Meta RayBan Glasses
I hope you’ve enjoyed my little photographers tour. What we’re going to do now is turn flash off. Come in here and going to shoot this wide angle at first. I want the picture a little bit darker. Let’s take that. Now look at what the difference is. Not crazy about this metal pole over here on the right. So let’s just take a step over and come over here. And of course you could always crop that. What’s the subject of the picture? Well, it kind of is the whole thing. But if you were wanting the subject to be explorer, maybe you change compositions, do rules of thirds about like that is a possibility. Maybe that would be good to make the focal point right there. Just a few experimental ideas to do. I’ll go up to the next platform and then I think I’m ready to turn around. I can get lost in time taking pictures for sure. Absolutely lost. Okay, here we get some greenery around the picture and we lose the pole. So, that’s nice. Let’s do it this way, too. Okay. Very nice. All right, a couple ideas. Lord knows where that ends up. It’s like a restaurant up there. All right, I’m going back down. I guess I better pay attention to the steps, which you don’t want to see. You want me looking up here. So, I’m going to shut the camera off now. Thanks for joining me. Now, it looks like our walk will continue just a little bit further and then I don’t really see that there’s any walkway. So, we didn’t have to reverse course and come back. Part of what I noticed at a distance though is that I think you have caves going back in here. Oh yeah, look at this. Look at that. Oh my. What is going on here? That is very very interesting. Let’s go wide. All right. All right. Fascinating. I’m always sticking my nose in little areas that other people might not choose to look at, you know, just to show you the scale around that. All right, the walk continues the walk around the lake. Nicholas Creek. Look at this magnificent tree growing right here. And obviously they walled this around the tree which had been there a long time before. Don’t you just love these graceful swooping little curves of how they did this? It’s magically beautiful. Just so nice. Ah, I found a way out. If I wanted it, if I wanted to climb some steps and get a picture back that way, which probably not 10% of the people elect to do, they don’t like climbing steps. I don’t mind a few steps. So, let’s do that. And of course, I didn’t take the Insta 360 X4. You always need it when you don’t bring it. But I shot so many pictures with it today. A lot of steps. A lot of steps. I think this looks like a vantage point. Yeah. So, we’re going to try a different tactic. All right, so let’s move on. Interesting as these little shapes are, figuring out how to take a great photograph of them is a trick, too, right? cuz there we go. [Music] Now the steps going off. [Music] [Music] I guess I don’t dare climb in one of those boats, but I kind of want to. do kind of want to. Now look at this. How utterly gorgeous. Now you see it’s kind of flat and two-dimensional when you get up close to it. So figuring out where is the best place to take a picture of this is a little bit of a challenge. I don’t love it, but I’ll take it. Let’s go see. Oh, it’s locked, unfortunately. Wonder if we can peek in. You can see that it was just like a little chapel. It’s not very deep at all. What I’m going to do is turn on my flash. I’m going to try to stick a camera in there. And this may be where I needed Insta 360, you know. Let’s try that again. Maybe I get the lock. I’m just experimenting now. No idea if I got anything interesting or not, you know. I doubt that I did. Maybe it’s a labyrinth in there. Maybe it’s a labyrinth. Oh, look at this. Well, like I say, I don’t know what moment I lost you, but I’m picking back up now. We have a musician playing a interesting looking string instrument over there. And now I’m about to go over into this little church. I just wanted to give you a sense of this lake. How beautiful. It’s one of the most beautiful lakes in a urban setting that I think I’ve ever seen. It’s just fantastic. Actual boats. This isn’t some little man-made albatross. Now, what are these little caveike things all about here? What is going on in here? I really don’t know what’s going on there, but I’m going to go get a beautiful shot right there. You know, when you’re trying to take great photographs, you’re looking for interesting things. And you’re looking for light. You’re looking for light dappling on a lake, reflecting off of something in an interesting way, providing a bend to the color spectrum that you’re not expecting. And I think we’re here at not the perfect time of day for that yet. Now, if all these boats have been lit up with light coming in, you see here we’re shade. Here we’re light. So, we’re going to get better boat pictures over here for the color. So, I’m going to do that. Let’s go look at some examples. All right. And see, I wanted that person walking right there. I want to see a little bit of Oh, yeah. That’s not bad. I actually kind of like the composition on that. I think that could work. And almost an Easter egg in there that I wasn’t expecting was that Explorer was in the corner of the picture. Right. Should we continue our walk? Oh, I like that kind of uh rosecoled uh building there with the deck on it. That’s quite elegant. Look at how magnificent the Explorer looks at port right here. Just stunning. Now, this is the lake I was telling you about, and I got just the slightest view of it out my window. So, I wanted to walk over here and see this with my own eyes. We’re going to take a picture of that right here. Don’t think this is the best angle for it. Let’s get this little couple walking into it to get a little humanism into the picture. These grand terrace style restaurants outside looking out on something just this beautiful. I adore it. I love it. I wish I had more of it in my own home city. But now that I’m retired, my own home city is the world. So, I just go here for a day and enjoy this. Do you see what I see? I think I see a church over there. Oh, look at this. Oh, boy. Let’s do this. How perfect is that? The only problem with met glasses is knowing whether you’re still recording or not. So sometimes I have to take a look. There’s no easy way in bright sunlight to know. Look at this beautiful restaurant here. That is gorgeous. Look at the statues. Oh, that’s got a nice vibe to it. Might have to settle back for a beer there. Oh, lucky little girl. Ah, look at this. This is what I want to see. Little boy getting a ride from his mama. Love that pictures of people having fun. Families, couples in love, people fabulously dressed, people that are just unique and authentic looking. That’s Oh, you’re back again. Okay. You want to see more? So do I. Cuz what an unbelievably gorgeous day. It is, I think, like 72 degrees. Feels a little bit warmer than that. Now, what we’ve learned about Greece is that the hottest part of the day seems to be in the afternoon between 2 and six. In fact, a lot of places close down around 2. This is a highly commercialized area. What time is it? 10 till 4. I’m supposed to be back on board by 5:30. I’ll make that easily. The visit to uh Kosus today was fantastic with the uh King Minos palace, labyrinth of the minotaur, that sort of thing. Took lots of good pictures and video there. Oh, wow. Look at that. That looks somewhat like a picture, too, doesn’t it? Doesn’t that look like a picture? I don’t like the shadow. Let’s see. How about here? Yeah, I’ve taken so many pictures of Explorer from different angles as a tipia. Look at that. Looks like a nice little shopping street right there. But guess what’s about to happen? I’m going to stop the video. Oh, baby. I’m going to take a couple pictures and then we’re going to resume video. I’ve decided to go for a quick walk around St. Nicholas. I guess it is the port where we’re at in cit. Look at that. Isn’t that gorgeous? Just the prettiest ship on the sea. And I am going to walk over to a little lake that is close by that I only got the quickest glimpse of when I was on the bus doing an excursion. And I believe it’s going to be this way. And I only have about an hour and uh 15 minutes to do this before we do all aboard. So you can walk with me and see what this looks like. Sounds like I might get run over by a car. Everybody more people walking my way than walking the way I’m going. Well, he’s going pretty fast. Thought I put my hat with a strap on today. Little bit of wind gusting now and then, but look at this beautiful little inlet here. And the park, I think, is right over there. This is stunning. Let’s take a picture from somewhere. How about just pass this garbage can? Okay, photo op. See, I bet you I can walk over there in six minutes. Gold and silver from Switzerland. There’s a Eurob Bank. Not quite sure how my Euro supply is. If I saw a Pereas bank, I might grab a few more. We’re going to have a bookish bath experience tomorrow. Yes.
