Best Things To Do in Bangkok Thailand 2025 4K

Put your hands up in the air. [Music] What’s going on everybody? This is Island Hopper TV
and today we’re going to show you the best things to do in Bangkok. Let’s do it. First up, I want
to talk about the rooftop bars. There’s over 50 high-end, worldclass rooftop bars across Bangkok.
There’s even more than 50. It’s just we’re talking some of the best rooftop bars in the world. I
would say of all the cities I’ve been, no place even compares to Bangkok when it comes to these
open air rooftop bars. Now, we’re here at Khaosan Road. This area here is known as the backpackers
party area of Bangkok. You can find cheap host around here, but if you show up around 900 p.m.
to about midnight, you’re going to see this is an action-packed road. Every single night of the
week, they’ve got local food, but like I said, it is a backpackers kind of environment. So,
lots of young people come hang out here. I would say be ready to party if you’re coming here
after 9:00 p.m. It is in the area of Old Bangkok nearby the Grand Palace and the Sleeping Buddha.
The name Khaosan actually translates to rice mill. This used to be a rice market. Here we are at
Chinatown, known as the street food heaven of Bangkok. Yawarat Road is actually right in the
heart of Chinatown here, stretching 1.5 km. Originally established in the 18th century because
Chinese immigrants were living along here during King Rama, the first reign. It is the oldest and
largest Chinatown in the world. Some famous food to try down here is dim sum, roasted duck, bird’s
nest soup. They’ve got seafood barbecue, mango, sticky rice, and try some of the Michelin rated
street stalls. Maybe even ride a tuk tuk around here if you want to get around a little bit
faster since they do get traffic jams. Now, we’re going to check out one of the best temples
in Bangkok. This is Wat Arun. You can go here in the evening time or in the daytime. That sun can
be brutal right along the Chao Pria River here. But this is definitely one of the best temple
complexes around Bangkok. Originally built in the 17th century, the name literally translates
to temple of the dawn. It is 200 bot per person. Now we’re going to go inside the temple of the
reclining Buddha. Also known as Watt Fo. It is regarded as the birthplace of the traditional
Thai massage. Here is a look at the amazing golden reclining Buddha. I always marvel at such
a site because it’s truly a beautiful view. They still have a famous massage school here where
you can actually experience the authentic Thai massage and foot reflexology. It is 300 baht per
person. Okay guys, here we are now at the Erawan Museum. We’re going to go inside and see what
this beautiful place has to offer. Let’s go. Known for the massive three-headed elephant
sculpture that people come far and wide to see. It’s a popular place for cultural and religious
artifacts right here at the museum. It’s about a 25minute drive outside of the central area of
Sukhumvit in Bangkok. It is 500 bot for adults and 250 baht for children. The museum itself
incorporates Hinduism and Buddhism. And now here we are at the ancient city located just south
of the Erawan Museum. You can do both in the same day. Is it going to be for everyone? No. And I’ll
tell you why. Because this is a very cultural type experience. It’s not a theme park or an amusement
park. It does get hot out here in the daytime. The ancient city of Syiam here is very Instagrammable.
For those of you looking to take pictures, that could be a benefit. The ticket price is 700
bot. And now here we are at the Grand Palace. Let’s go inside. Originally built in 1782 when
Bangkok became the capital of Thailand. Here on location is Thailand’s most sacred image. It’s the
Emerald Buddha which is carved from jade. Ticket price is 500 baht per adult and there is a strict
dress code here. You need to wear long pants. So here we are at the Meklong Railway. This is where
the train goes right through the market. [Music] known for the market where the vendors actually
pull the awnings back for their stalls and make way for the train. This is what people come for.
The train arrives several times in between 6:20 in the morning and as late as 5:40 p.m. Just check
the schedule if you want to come see it. Yes. So, here we are at Damnoen Saduak. I do recommend
getting a ticket before arriving here, but this floating market is one of
the best things you can do around Bangkok. You can actually visit this floating
market the same day as the train market. Make sure you book your tickets in advance.
They will overcharge you on location. Oh, glad you have. I cut for you.
They have the coconut sugar refinery here. We’re going to try some coconut
sugar. Not sugar cane made from coconut. sugar and coconut. Here we got some
Isan sausage. Four pieces for 100. So hot. [Music] Mangoes. So good. I don’t know what
this is. What is this? I wonder what it tastes like. This is actually
legit my first time trying this one. Tastes like a custard. Eating this for the first
time. I’ve never had one of these. I don’t even know what they’re called, but they got a lot of
seeds in it. Interesting texture. Not too sweet, though. And then lime cones are really
good, but the mango steam is the best. I don’t know. All those are really
good actually. Really good fruit. One of the best ways to avoid the Bangkok heat
is to go inside one of the many mega malls like this one here. My favorite is the old school MBK.
You got everything you could possibly want here. You’ve got face massage, dental care, affordable
shopping, which you don’t find at the other mega malls, and good food. Here we are at Pier 21
at the Terminal 21 Mall. Terminal 21 has one of the best locations along Sukhumvit. You can go
to Pier 21 where they have delicious food for a great price. Then you have Emsphere, which is like
the new mega mall along Sukhumvit. This is around Sukhumvit 22. This has become the new hot spot.
They’ve got Tribe, which is this new rooftop bar here with a pool. Basically, it’s a day lounge and
it’s on the fourth floor here above the IKEA. But yeah, Emsphere very famous. You have Siam Paragon, you
have Central World. These are a bit older, but these are the original super mega malls. But there
is one mall that’s off Sukhumvit that you may want to go to. It’s called Icon Siam. The food court here is
amazing. The diversity in food and the mall itself is spectacular along the river. The area we’re
exploring now is called Sukhumvit Road. This road here, in my opinion, is the heart of Bangkok.
This is modern Bangkok at its finest. There’s a sky train that goes right through the middle.
The road itself was opened in 1936. It’s named after the man who built it. We did recently make a
video about the 10 best places to stay in Bangkok and about three or four of the best places were
up and down the Sukhumvit road area. Everything from Siam where the mega malls are like Central
World and then you had places along Soi 11 which is one of the more famous roads for people who are
into nightife. You have Soi 4 which is known as Nana. And then you have the area around Emsphere,
Soi 22, which has become the new famous area. They have Emquartier and Emporium. I will put a link
to that down below in the description. I highly recommend you watch that after this video. I’ll
also put a link to it at the end of the video. A great video for people who want to unpack Bangkok
and really understand what’s going on here. But a great way to get around Bangkok is the BTS sky
train. This goes through Sukhumvit right through the middle. You can avoid traffic on this or you
can even go to Silom. Now you can actually rent a bike. This is new to Bangkok. I’m not sure
it’ll work out long term just because Bangkok isn’t built for biking, but it is still a
cool option to have. Just download the app Hello Bike or any wheel. Let’s not forget
about a tuk tuk ride. Tuk tuks are a bit more expensive than a taxi or a Grab, but it is
something to do if you’ve never tried it before. Now, let’s talk about a real ancient city. This
is Ayatua. And up here, this is an ancient site. It’s about an hour and a half to 2 hours north of
Bangkok. So, it would be a day trip. If you leave at 8:00 in the morning, you’ll get there by 9:30
or 10:00, just before the heat starts at say 1 or 2. And then you come back down to Bangkok, you can
walk around the malls, and there’s your day. Now, let’s talk about the river. Chao Pria is the main
river that goes through Bangkok that connects to the ocean. And you can do a boat tour. There’s a
few different types of boats. You can do a ferry, you can do a collective boat, you can go up and
down the canals around Bangkok, kind of like a little Venice area, but going up and down the Chao
Prior River actually can be more efficient if you go say Watt Arun to Icon. It’s much faster than
being stuck in traffic and it’s quite affordable. But we’re going to stay along the riverside here.
This is Asiatique. This is a place you go in the evening time just before sunset. They’ve got nice
restaurants, some shopping. It’s got a big ferris wheel right along the riverside. Asiatique is a place
that you go for relaxing in the evening along the river. This is probably the best spot for it.
And it’s free to walk around. If you wanted to ride the ferris wheel, it’s 500 bot for adults.
Another free activity is walk around Lumpini Park. The best time to do that is going to be early
in the morning before 10:00 a.m. or late in the afternoon after 4:30, I would say. They do have
giant monitor lizards here. Nice trees. You can lounge and chill and escape the hustle and bustle
of Bangkok. I should probably talk about those monitor lizards a bit more in detail. So, they
look like Komodo dragons, but they’re not. They’re not very dangerous. I wouldn’t get too close to
them, though. They could bite. They are known for eating cats and big fish in the pond. So that’s
how they get big. Here we are now at Benchiti Park. I do like this Benchakiti Park for aerobics
or fitness, especially with the new bikes being added into Sukhumvit area. You can actually take the
bike down here and ride it around. Do some laps early in the morning or late in the afternoon
around Benchakiti That’s a good exercise with the bikes. It’s a little bit safer and better than
riding a bike around Sukhumvit area. I would say it’s a 3minute bike ride from Sukhumvit Road. And
when in Bangkok, you can also go to an onsen. This one here is Ichirin Onsen on Soy 24 at the State
Bridge Suites. I love going to onsen a few times a week. It’s about 700 baht or $21 per person.
So, it’s my first time doing a Yamui steam and you wear this like trench coat for sweating
and I’m sitting on some herbs right now actually and it helps promote healthy blood skin also
helps uh improve metabolism, burn fat. They also have this lowly sauna which is the only one in
Thailand actually. There’s a few different onins all across Bangkok. This just so happens to be
my favorite one. I also like doing the hot stone and then of course they have the jacuzzi’s where
they have the salt bath, they have the silk bath, then they have the cold plunge. Just make sure
you shower after you actually use the sauna and then get in the jacuzzi. I don’t think some people
are aware of that. You got to do that, guys. Ah, don’t forget about Cyro Therapy. Now, here we
are at the Chattachuke weekend market. So, as it says in the name, this is weekend market. That’s
Saturday and Sunday. And people come here because you get cheap shopping. You can buy handbags,
clothing, souvenirs, all of that. Very affordable right here at Chattachuk. That’s why it’s famous
with both locals and foreigners. Also, they’ve got lots of food options around here. This is about
a 20 to 30 minute drive north of Sukhumvit. It is the largest weekend market in Thailand and one of
the largest in the world with over 15,000 stalls. That’s 11,500 vendors spread across 26 different
sections of this place. Every weekend, the market draws in about 200,000 visitors. So, that’s bigger
than most football games, guys. The market’s origins actually date back to 1942. That’s one
thing I would say about Thailand. If you’re coming here to anywhere in Southeast Asia, you’ve got to
check out the weekend markets, the Friday markets, or any sort of food market wherever you’re
at. Whether you’re in Chiang Mai or in Phuket, or maybe going to Vietnam, Cambodia, they’ve
got them there as well. But weekend markets, definitely a cultural tradition out here in
Thailand and Southeast Asia. We did make a full Thailand travel guide telling you about
everything you need to know about Thailand. I’ll put a link down below in the description for
those of you who want to visit a really unique temple. This one here is Wat Sam Phran, also
known as the Dragon Temple because of the large dragon that kind of spirals up. It was officially
registered in 1985 as a temple. It’s 17 stories in this cylindrical pink tower. As you would imagine,
it’s popular with people who fly drones. But the dragon’s body is actually hollow and inside is
a spiraling tunnel or a stairway that actually takes visitors up to the top, at least in some
parts of the dragon’s temple. Here we are now at the big golden Buddha, also known as Watt Paknam
Fasi Chaon. And this here was completed in 2021, so it’s a fairly new temple. And the statue is
69 m tall, big golden Buddha. You can get good pictures looking off in the distance and even
along the waterfront there. There’s a little canal that goes along the side. Now, let’s talk
local food. You’ve got boat noodles, you’ve got wonton noodles, lots of different noodles,
crispy pork, charsu pork, Michelin five-star street vendors that sell food for less than $3 a
meal. You’ve got garlic shrimp, you’ve got sauté, you’ve got mango sticky rice, pad thai. So many
options here in Bangkok. Also, lots of curry. You’ve got masaman curry, penang curry, green
curry. I mean, Thai food is one of the most prolific famous cuisines in the world. And Bangkok
is the food capital of Thailand. So, there’s that. But one of my favorite foods that I eat more than
anything, especially as of late, is called pad kra pao. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s basically
like minced pork, minced chicken or beef with rice. Seems simple. They put a little bit of basil
in there. But try that for a lunch sometime. Pad kra pao. And here I am now at the train station.
Taking trains all around Thailand is famous. And you can get anywhere from Bangkok. It’s centrally
located here in Thailand. You can go to the south, you can go to the north. they are advancing and
building out the rail system just faster, more modern and efficient. So that’s something to look
forward to over the next 10 years with Thailand. And then going out to Kanchanaburi where they have
the famous train route. Now one thing you like to do is go to the beaches nearby Bangkok, you have
Pattaya Beach, which is known for the Sanctuary of Truth Temple. They’ve also got the Golden Buddha
on the side of the mountain and they got beaches and island hopping. It’s about a 2-hour drive from
Bangkok. Now, Patty is known as a party place, whereas Huah Hin’s a lot more laid-back and known
for its luxury resorts. After all, this is where the Thai royalty would go about 50 years ago. Very
famous. So, I prefer Hua Hin over Pattaya. It just depends on what direction you want to go, east or
west for the beach. In this case, you go west. So, we’re at a cinniplex in Bangkok. Let’s see what
it’s like. I don’t usually go to cinema anymore, but these luxury VIP cinema are quite nice, and
it’s a whole experience in and of itself if you guys like watching movies. Something to do in the
evening time. Another thing to do in Bangkok is get customtailored clothes. This is VJ’s bespoke
clothing. Trousers, shirts, sports jackets, or even casual shirts in linens. episode. Every
time I visit Bangkok, I order about four or five new button-down shirts. Thanks everyone for
watching Best Things to Do in Bangkok. I’ll put a link here to 10 best places to stay in Bangkok
right here at the end. Click that link. [Music]

  1. Great list. I have visited all except the ancient city south of Erawan over my many trips to Bangkok. I agree it is one of the best cities in the world. You didn’t specifically mention the great foodie tours here as well as the Flower market which is a 24 hour amazing business scene down by the river. The dinner cruises on the river are also quite popular and plentiful but most are more party than food but a great way to see the temples and lights of Bangkok at night.

  2. We definitely have a lot of this on our bucket list. Admittedly, we have no real interest in the modern metropolitan areas, we'd rather enjoy more classic Thai culture. We can see downtown city areas anywhere.

  3. Bangkok is super easy to get around with skytrains and subways. And hey, Thailand’s health care system made it into the top-10 globally for 2025 and no.1 in ASEAN!
