Video Walking Tour of Innsbruck – Austria | Christmas Day | 4K ASMR
Talk about a special Christmas Day… I invite you to join me for a magical afternoon walk on a white Christmas – a true bluebird day in Innsbruck, Austria!! This 22 minute ASMR 4K walk will take you through the old town Christmas Markets, the well known streets Maria-Theresien & Herzog-Friedrich, Dom St. Jakob, Colourful Houses, the Inn River and views of the Nordkette mountains.
Quickly, a bit of background about this gorgeous GORGEOUS city…
Innsbruck is a small city surrounded by the Austrian Alps. One of the few cities in the world where you can wander through a medieval old town with snow-covered peaks rising directly above. Its beginnings trace back to the Roman era around 15 BC, but the city was officially founded in the 12th century (1180 AD) when a bridge was built over the Inn River. This bridge made Innsbruck an important trade route between Germany and Italy throughout the Middle Ages.
Running through the city is the Inn River, the very reason Innsbruck has its name. “Inn-Brücke” means “Bridge over the Inn.” The river travels through Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, stretching 517 km (321 miles) before eventually joining the Danube on its journey to the Black Sea! It’s colour changes with the seasons- bright and turquoise in spring and summer, deeper and calmer in winter. As you’ll see here we are deep in winter, so the water is a rich, deep blue.
And for the breathtaking mountain views… we can thank the Nordkette mountain range for those, often called “the Jewel of the Alps.” Its highest point, Hafelekar Peak (2,334 meters / 7,657 ft), where you can see views of the city below and even the distant Austrian – German border.
