CROATIAN ADVENTURE VLOG part 1 🇭🇷 Pula & Zadar with backpacks, airbnbs & public transport ⛴️
Hello everyone. Welcome back to my YouTube channel and welcome to Croatia. Join me and my family on my summer adventure, Airbnb hopping over 10 days down the coastline of Croatia. Over two videos, I will cover our journey from the city of Pula, famous for its amphitheater and history, onto the city of Zadar, known for its beautiful sunsets. Then onto Split, Roman architecture, lively bars and markets. A shorter trip to Havar, known for its glamorous night life and superyachts, and then finally onto De Bronik with its beautiful city walls, world heritage site, and famous for filming the Game of Thrones. Aside from our initial flight to and from Croatia, all travel was done via public transport. It was a magical family trip full of history, pretty treasures, great wine, mesmerizing sunsets, quaint streets, crystal waters, and delicious food. So let’s start at the beginning. [Music] Good morning from a very sunny Pula. We arrived late last night. We dumped our backpacks into our Airbnb and then we went down to the main strip, the old town. It was really beautiful. We had a really nice dinner as well. Very rustic, very Venetian, very, very quaint. All the things I love about traveling to Croatia. So, here we have got a little dining area here. We’ve got the bed. Well, the sofa bed. This is where Ted stayed last night. It all looks very new, I’d say. It hardly looks like it’s been touched. I really like all the brick wall as well. We’ve got a fridge. It did come with a big bottle of water in it when we arrived last night. And then we’ve got the kitchen as well. Just got all our backpacks down in the corner here. Trying to keep them as kind of tidy as possible. It’s not the easiest to find clothes, is it? In backpacks, so that’s been a bit of a challenge. But here we are. This dress, by the way, love it. Unfortunately, there was no point ironing before I came away cuz obviously backpacks and uh linen don’t mix, do they? But hey ho. So yeah, this is the bathroom. Really cute little bathroom shower. This is the bedroom. It’s got a little desk for the kids and a Minions rug. Plenty of storage. Not that we’ll be unpacking anything because we are only here for one more night before we head to Zadar tomorrow. And then this is the bed setup. We just came where we’d been last night. This is where we ate last night for dinner. And the square this morning is so much quieter. It’s so lovely to be able to walk around and see in the daylight because obviously we arrived last night when it was dark. So, I’ve just had a coffee. Going to head back to the room now. We’re going to do the amphitheater this evening. We’re going to go head down to the beach. We’ve come down to a water sports beach bar, beach club um called Zapellin, which is only actually a 7 minute taxi ride from where we are. This is like Teddy’s dream day. [Music] It’s €3 for 20 minutes, so that’s not too bad. Wow. This beach was about about a 10-minute walk from where we’ve just been, and we thought it would be quite cute and quaint, but it seems to be a little bit of a a hot spot, and it’s absolutely absolutely rammed. Not quite the quaint Croatian cove that I had in mind. We’ve decided to stay. The drinks are cheap. I think it was €8 for a very strong apperal. Beers are about €4. So, we’ll spend a little bit of time here. Might head back to the other beach later. It was actually nicer really. It’s a bit quieter, but I did prefer it. It was quite quaint and there was a nice music in the background. It is extremely busy here. It is what it is. Who’s going to win? Ted first. Okay, let’s go. Should we all share a margarita? So, me and Ted are off out for the evening. Carly’s joining us later, but we’re going to see the amphitheater. Ted, let’s do a little show you our outfits of the night. So, we’re going to the Roman Amphitheater, which I am really, really excited about. And Ted’s come with me cuz he loves history as well. So yeah, I don’t know what to expect apart from we saw it from the taxi last night. So we’ll go and check it out and then we’re going to go for dinner later on. It’s a really gorgeous time of day. We’ve been at the beach all day. You know, when you come in, you get showered, feel nice and fresh, and yeah, we’re off off out now for like to see the sunset. I reckon we’ll be uh I reckon the sun will be setting while we’re there, which I thought would be really nice. And the last entry there is I think it’s 8:30 from looking on the website. Oh, this one’s nice. That one. That is nice. There’s so much nice stuff in this shop. I like the scarves as well. These are kind of scarves that I got last time. I might get this one, right? Yeah. Ted’s thinking about getting his girlfriend something. We’re here. So, would you rent one of them? I’m sad to say that we weren’t allowed in because there’s a concert on tonight. So, this is as far as I can show you. I will see if I can find some stock images or video to share with you because if you have chance to go in here, I highly recommend it. Even from just being outside, it really is spectacular. It looks incredible. But what a shame. You can see that they’ve got all like the stages set up. What an amazing place this would be to visit a concert. [Music] Are you enjoying yourself, Ted? How’s your first day been? It’s been good. What’s been your favorite part of today? And people, what’s been your least favorite part today? The favorite part of the day was the beach. Least favorite part of the day was I don’t know. Are you looking forward to getting the ferry tomorrow morning? No. Why? Make me feel sick. So, our ferry tomorrow is at 7:00 a.m. We have to go. Well, we don’t have to, but we want to go. We’re going from Pula to Zadar, and it stops at Loft and Lot on the way in. Zadar is the final stop, and it’s 4 hours 45. So, that’s quite a lengthy lengthy ferry journey, but it will be it’s at 7:00 a.m. and that’s the only time it is. So, we’ll be up at 6:00 and then we got to head on to the ferry at 7:00. So, a few wines, some path night, and then yeah, an early night, I think. [Music] Black pasta, black from the octopus, pesto from the black olives, fresh tuna steak, pine nuts, cherry tomatoes. Uh there’s one uh piri seafood. It’s the only dish we have to work a little bit and the seis. It’s a dish with shrimps and truffles. Shrimps are fresh. Truffles now is the season. Fish with the side dish and the beef steak with a side dish. And I just Yeah, it’s a local one. So try this. So this is what is it called? Shrimp tart. Tuna carpacio. Not tuna. Not tuna. Um, sorry. Um, shrimp carpacio with truffle. Truffles are in season apparently. I went for the salmon tagel. And that looks and smells delicious. What’s yours, Ted? Mine is I’ve forgotten the name of it, but it’s steak chunks in spicy salsa with pasta and cheese. I’m tired. We made the ferry. The ferry is a company called Crea and it’s actually a catamaran. It’s really big. Lots of seats downstairs. I’ll show you later. And there are seats upstairs as well. This is top. As far as fairies goes, believe me, I’ve been on some bad ones in Thailand. This is actually really, really nice. So, there’s plug sockets along all the seats or like the outside seats on the windows. They are unfortunately already taken. I feel like you have to get here early to secure a good seat. So, bear that in mind. We got here at about 25 to 7. It sets off at 7:00 and uh it was still get it was getting pretty full and it doesn’t look like at full capacity, but I haven’t been downstairs yet. There is also some there’s also some really big tables bit like train tables that you can sit at. We’re on here for 4 hours and 45. Like I said, it does stop off at a few different ports and then we are the end one at Zadar. Takes about 4 hours 45 in total. And to be honest, I don’t think it’s going to be too bad. There’s a shop on board as well. So yeah, we’ve got a top deck seat. Sun’s shining. Let’s go. [Music] We got the Creo ferry from Kazadar and it was about €25 per person. We stopped at Uni, Susac, Mali, Losen, Ilovic, and Silva before we arrived at Zadar. [Music] We’re nearly there. 4 hours. 4 and 1/2 hours. We are just approaching D. very pleasantly surprised with this journey. I do have to say it has been quite long, but the shop on board’s great. You know, it’s well stocked, lots of food, re reasonably priced. I think for two large coffees and two kindos, it was about €12, which is not bad at all, is it? Um, and yeah, we’re we’re heading into Sedar. [Music] Welcome to Zada. I was just saying how lovely that little restaurant, the aesthetics of it was behind me. And our apartment that we’re staying at is actually right on this street just here. It’s okay. You just leave the bags. Okay. Hi. It’s 12:30 and we just dropped our bags off at the new apartment. So, I will give you a tour around it as soon as we can get in. It’s just currently being cleaned from the last guests that were there. Um, first glance of Isidor. Very similar to Split. I think just from the first glances, the streets are lovely. Really white, nice white tiles, lots of churches and architecture. Lots of shops though. There is some more mainstream shops like I’m just looking at Cal Calonia. There was an inter intimacy I think it’s called. Um, so yeah, definitely definitely a lot bigger than Pula. So I think we’re going to go and find a drink, have a have a little bit of a chill. It’s very very hot. So, I’ll catch up with you guys when I know more about what we’re doing with the afternoon. Cheers. [Music] Be prepared for how expensive it is. It was €52 and that was for a very basic pizza. Two apperal sprits, I think that was a procco and one iced tea as well. Okay, just got to the second apartment. Um, it’s not the best apartment, but it was only £80. And it’s this location is amazing. like the perfect location, but it’s not the best home sweet home. Anyway, this is Ted’s bed. I think it’s clean. Listen, it’s clean. We’re here for one night. We’ve got a telly. Got lots of plants. This is the little kitchenet area. Not that we’ll be using it because we’re not staying here for tea, obviously. It’s literally just a space to sleep. It’s just a space to sleep, guys. Right. And then if I just bring you through here, obviously if you did want to stay here longer, we’ve got wardrobes, and they must be the cushions to the sofa. Um, and then up here is we’ve got the little shower, toilet, washing machine, which we didn’t have in the last place, and very hot and sweaty me. So, we’re going to get changed now and then we’re going to go and head to the beach. There’s a beach club that looks like the nicest beach club, kind of local beach club. So, we’ll go and check that out. Um, but yeah, we are just here for one night. We have just decided over lunch that we’re going to head to Split tomorrow. I think we can get the bus to Split, which is I want to say around €14 per person and it’s 2 hours. So, yeah, we are just here for one night. So, we’re going to go spend the afternoon at the beach, find somewhere for dinner, and then probably get up early in the morning and head over to Split. A beer and they are €10 a cocktail. Okay, let’s go to the beach. Bear in mind that these are the sunbirds here. They’re all tied together. And apparently we can’t get a sunbed now because the time’s gone. So I’m guessing if you come down to this beach, you got a sunbed. You have to come early in the morning because we can’t get we can’t get a sunbed now, which is fine. We’re just going to put some towels put some towels on the floor. Um but yeah, that’s that’s the only other option. And also just worth mentioning, there is it seems to be a volleyball. I’ll show you. a volleyball court. It’s very busy here today and it is a Wednesday. Um, this kind of vibe seems to be quite popular for the beaches in Croatia cuz when we were in Split last time, I remember it being quite similar. Rocky beaches, busy, lots of people having towels on the floor. Um, and then yeah, like a little bar as well. There’s also in the near distance can see like a big inflatable. They seem to be really popular as well in the beaches around here. Ted’s got his extortionately priced head gear that I bought him yesterday. Ted, you looking forward to using it? Yeah. I managed to secure two sunbeds when somebody had left. So, that’s a bonus. Also, just been the sea, which is lovely. The water here is so clear, so beautiful. But like all beaches in Croatia, you really do have to have those really ugly looking um beach shoes. You know, the sea shoes. They’re terrible. I used to have them as a child. They look they’re like fashion fashion suicide, but they’re very important because it’s so so painful. Once you get out a little bit, it does get a bit easier. But it’s it’s very very painful to swim. So, I would just uh bear that in mind. [Music] I really like this outfit that I’ve got on this evening because the top’s comfortable, flattering. It’s a Zara top. It’s the halterneck. And then my pants are those Bermuda shorts. So, they’re a bit longer, bit more of a long line short. And I always feel well when I’ve got them on, I feel classic. They’re also super super comfortable. And my earrings, these are new ones from Caroline’s Bed Bun if you’d have watched my earlier video. So, yeah, I’m kind of feeling tonight’s outfit. My hair’s a little bit frizzy. It seems to be that the prices here for cocktails are Not the cheapest in the sense that you know per after all spirits they vary between maybe £850 to €10 and that’s the cheapest you’re going to get for a cocktail. Thank you very much. Thank you. Fish paper. So the beetroot tarta with what was it? Stretal. Not sure if that’s pronounced right. Got some more bread. And Teddy has got T-Rex chicken skirts. Can you ever lay these out? Shorts out the right way around. This is Seab Bream. I can’t. Dinner last night was incredible, but we’re up now and we’re on our way to get the bus down to Split. Very excited about this. And this was just the local market that we had to walk through to get there. I’ll be honest, the Airbnb we stayed at last night really. The bed was so uncomfortable. And I mean like so uncomfortable. And I’m really really tired now. So going to have a little nap for the next two hours and wake up and sleep. Pleasantly surprised by this bus. By the way, it’s a large bus. There’s a toilet, I think, on board, but it’s not working. Um, journey is 2 hours 15. This is the fast bus. You can get other journeys as well. There’s other kind of providers, other bus providers that do the trip, and they vary from about I think they vary from this. This is the fastest one up to anywhere to about 3 and 1 half hours. Um, but the bus seems really clean. There’s lots of space. It’s aircon. So, all good. And I think it’s about €14 per person. [Music]
Hello my loves how are you?!
This was certainly a summer to remember! We set off on our Croatian adventure, flying to Pula in northern Croatian, then onto Zadar. We stayed in airbnbs, took backpacks and apart from the initial flight to & from Croatia from Manchester, all travel was done via public transport.
This is the first part of the adventure: Pula & Zadar… tune in to my next video for the next leg of the journey where we head onto Split, Hvar & Dubrovnik!
As always, we found some lovely spots to eat & drink which I share with you in my vlog. And of course a little fashion inspo as well.
I hope you love the video. Do let me know if you have any questions! I will link the restaurants & Airbnbs below.

Excellent vlog Amy 👏such a beautiful place ❤
Zadar prices are like most places, you can eat cheap or expensive. Looks like you chose the more expensive ones.
Crazy pizza, small bakeries and lots of other places which are a lot cheaper. Accommodation can be hit and miss though. Surprised you didn't go to the Sea Organ or Sun Salutation. Just got home from our second visit
