Today we’ll take a peaceful walk through its streets, parks, and landmarks. You can reach Baden-Baden easily by train or by air.
The nearest airport is Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, just a few kilometers away. From the airport, take a shuttle or taxi to the city center.
Trains from major cities also arrive directly at Baden-Baden station. Baden-Baden has been a popular spa destination since Roman times.
Its thermal springs attracted nobles, artists, and visitors seeking relaxation. In the 19th century, Baden-Baden became a hub for European high society.
People came to enjoy music, spa treatments, and elegant promenades. Even today, visitors stroll along the streets and gardens, enjoying its calm charm. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of Baden-Baden from above.

The red carpet ahead is part of the festival decor, not a special welcome for us. 😉 The air feels calm, and the streets already have that spa town elegance. On our left, you can see a few small bridges.
They cross the Oos River, which quietly flows through the heart of the town. Baden-Baden’s name actually means “Baths-Baths” —
a reminder of its ancient Roman origins as a spa retreat. The town blends nature, history, and wellness in such a beautiful way.
Every corner here feels peaceful yet full of life. Here we pass the Michaelsteag Bridge over the Oos River.
It connects the spa gardens with the city paths. From here, you get a lovely view of the river and surrounding gardens.
It’s a charming spot that blends nature with Baden-Baden’s historic spa culture. You’ll notice how clean and well-kept everything is.
The town takes pride in maintaining this elegant atmosphere. Even the benches and flower arrangements seem carefully placed.
This is a place designed for relaxation and beauty. As we keep walking, the sound of the Oos River becomes softer in the background.
It’s easy to see why artists and writers once came here for inspiration. Soon, we’ll arrive at the Kurgarten, near the historic Trinkhalle.

It’s been a popular promenade for visitors for over 150 years. Notice the neatly arranged flowerbeds and ornamental trees.
They’re designed to create a calm and elegant atmosphere for strolling. Ahead is the historic Trinkhalle, or Pump Room.
This neoclassical building dates back to the 19th century. Visitors used to come here to drink the mineral-rich spa water.
It was believed to have healing properties for various ailments. The colonnade is beautifully decorated with frescoes.
Many depict local legends, historic events, and classical themes. The Trinkhalle remains a central landmark in Baden-Baden today.
Even from the outside, its neoclassical charm is striking. The Trinkhalle was built in 1842 by architect Heinrich Hübsch as a neoclassical spa pavilion for drinking mineral water and social gatherings. The colonnade stretches 90 meters and is adorned with 6 large arches.
Inside, frescoes depict local myths, historic scenes, and allegories. Visitors often pause here to take photos or just enjoy the serenity. It’s easy to see why Baden-Baden has been a wellness destination for centuries. Every corner of the Kurgarten and Trinkhalle area invites relaxation.
The combination of architecture, nature, and history is truly charming. Now we continue toward the Benazet Weg and Pfingstrosengarten,
another lovely area full of flowers and walking paths. Here in the Pfingstrosengarten, peonies bloom beautifully every spring, attracting visitors and photographers alike. As we head towards the Kurhaus, we can see preparations for the SWR3 New Pop Festival. Volunteers and staff move around, making sure everything is ready for the festival crowds. Here is the Kurhaus, one of Baden-Baden’s most iconic buildings.
We are only viewing it from the outside while enjoying the festival atmosphere. Music echoes from the stages being tested nearby, blending with the sounds of the town. The mix of historic architecture and the festival’s energy is a unique experience for visitors. We’re approaching Theater Baden-Baden, an elegant venue for performances.
Its historic architecture adds charm to the bustling spa town. The theater hosts plays, concerts, and cultural events throughout the year.
It’s a key landmark in Baden-Baden’s vibrant cultural scene. We’ve just passed Theater Baden-Baden, its elegant facade still in view.
Now we stroll along the riverbank, where people wander towards the peaceful park. Small bridges arch gently over the water, inviting quiet moments of reflection.
The river flows softly, low this early September, yet its murmur is soothing and serene. People sit quietly on benches along the riverbank,
letting the gentle sound of the flowing water soothe their minds. We’ve arrived at Sintersteinbrunnen, a charming fountain surrounded by greenery.
The sound of the water creates a calm rhythm that blends beautifully with the park’s atmosphere. Visitors pause here to enjoy the gentle trickle and the peaceful surroundings.
It’s a perfect spot to breathe deeply and soak in the serenity of Baden-Baden. We’ve arrived at Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, a museum of fine arts.
From the outside, its elegant facade reflects the city’s artistic spirit. We walk through the park, surrounded by freshly cut lawns and lush greenery.
The shade of the trees creates a soothing pattern on the ground, and the scent of grass fills the air. People stroll along the paths, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
Every step here feels refreshing, a perfect blend of nature and relaxation. We’ve reached Kaiserin-Augusta-Denkmal, a graceful monument honoring Empress Augusta.
The statue stands elegantly, surrounded by shaded park paths and lush greenery. We’re walking along Lichtentaler Allee, a famous park avenue in Baden-Baden.
On our left, the Oos River flows gently, its soft murmur soothing the mind. The trees arch overhead, casting playful shadows on the path.
Our next stop is Gönneranlage, another peaceful corner of this beautiful park. We’ve arrived at Gönneranlage, a peaceful garden area in Baden-Baden.
Only a few people are strolling here, enjoying the calm and well-kept park surroundings. The gentle sound of water and rustling leaves fills the air.
This quiet corner perfectly captures the elegance and serenity of the park. We’ve turned back toward the city center, walking past elegant spa hotels on both sides.

The lively streets, cheerful chatter, and splashing fountains create a vibrant, yet relaxed atmosphere.
It’s the final day of the festival, and the city feels alive with excitement and joy. We’ve arrived at Löwenbräu Keller, a traditional brewery with lively surroundings.
Visitors enjoy drinks and conversation, adding warmth and life to the streets around. The clinking of glasses mixes with distant music and laughter.
It’s a wonderful spot to experience the local culture and friendly atmosphere of Baden-Baden. We’re now outside Friedrichsbad, the historic thermal bath of Baden-Baden.
Its elegant facade reflects the town’s long tradition of wellness and relaxation. Visitors admire the elegant architecture of Friedrichsbad, imagining the soothing waters within,
while the building exudes calm and history from the outside. It’s a sunny day in Germany, 28°C and not a cloud in the sky.

Its thick stone walls and towers have withstood centuries, witnessing the town’s history unfold. From the castle, we can see the entire valley below and the Black Forest stretching into the distance.
