This is gorgeous. One of the most beautiful villages in France, but honestly, most beautiful doesn’t even cover it. You’ll find it in Provence. And when I came here, I was not prepared for the level of drama. One minute I’m happily driving through rolling hills and lavender fields, humming to myself, and the next, bam, gorge, perched on a hilltop like it’s been waiting all day to make me feel underdressed. I somehow wedged my car into a parking space the size of a baguette. Then wandered straight into a maze of cobblestone streets where every corner looks like a movie set. The honeyccoled houses are stacked like medieval Jenga. Cafes spill into the streets as if they’re auditioning for a lifestyle magazine. And the cats, oh, they own this village. I was basically a guest in their home. The air smelled faintly of lavender. The light made everything look 10 times prettier, including me, which is saying something. And when I got to the panoramic viewpoint, the Lubberon Valley was just there, looking like it had been photoshopped. I stood there thinking, “Yep, this is it. I live here now. Someone forward my mail.” It’s also super easy to get to. We fly into Marseilles and then drive over to Gourds.
