A day in Caen – Normandy – France
[Music] This is Cathedral Sierre. I do hope it’s open. It looks absolutely beautiful from the outside. The whole town looks really pretty. There’s a castle behind us. Don’t think we have time to go into the castle and enjoy a whole day. There is another church in the distance. And the day we are in K, it is a thousand years of the city. So they have um lots of celebrations today, but unfortunately we won’t be here that long. We’re just here for the day. It is open. There’s a side gate entrance that is open for visitors. It’s beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. They have different types of pews. It’s more like chairs and they don’t have the kneeling pads. Oh, they are all connected travatine floors. It is quite dark in here so might not show up that well. It’s coming up to 12:00. [Music] [Music] family. Family [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] We are ready to sing. [Music] I hope. We walked a little bit up from the tourist information center and got to ignore and it’s saying that um M is at 6:00. Same sort of chairs here but um nobody here that is open so we can come and see. Same sort of design in here as well but much smaller scale. These are pretty. and this is the outside. It is no wonder so many people come to France on holiday cuz it’s so pretty. That’s just a normal treeine street and it they’ve trimmed it and kept it so welcom they have a lot of events happening in the evening. So all the parking and roads are restricted and everything. So we’re just going to have to have a quick look from outside. Abby is shut as well. Even the ruins look beautiful. I don’t know what that is, but that’s what it is. And the Abby is on the left. Just look at the manicured gardens. and that’s the Abby. Unfortunately, can’t go in, but it’s good to have come out to see it up close as well. Look at these cute tiny buses. And it says it’s free, but I don’t know. Can’t believe it’s three, but it says a three, so I have to take its word for it. We did manage to find parking at the rear side of Abio. We parked right here and walked all the way around the buildings and came all the way around, but the bits that you can go in is was right here. And that’s the church of the abioum. This church has the same look as the um Sierre Cathedral and the other church that we visited. But these seats have the kneeling pad as well. These seats here are quite unusual. They don’t have the English. They’re very unusual colored glasses in this one. This is the Grand Mosque of U. Well, it’s just outside. Come on. But we can’t. It’s not simply open. So trying to find out. This is the gated entrance, but we can’t get access to it. This is as close as we might get to it, but we might be able to get in if somebody’s leaving. I don’t think we’re going to Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere. They’re saying you come back at um prayer time when it’s open. I said, “Can I take a little video?” He said, “Uh, no.” And then he walked off. So, I don’t know why they’re not just open, but they’re not. So, there you go. That’s the Grand Mosque of U Kong. So, this is our last stop in Kong, the memorial for the British soldiers that um came to Normandy. It is a very very windy cold day. So imagine what it would be like for them when they landed on the beaches. Here is our um ferry that we came on yesterday. And all along here there’s about 100 kilometers or 100 miles of um seafront where various um um locations of various uh country monuments are like the American ones. But I don’t think we’re going to make it to that all of that because it’s a really cold windy day.
