To reach the island you will walk along the sea on a footbridge, it takes about 40 minutes yet you might stop many times for photos. You can also take a free shuttle bus from the parking area. At low tide, you can walk on each side of the fortress. If you want to walk around ,be aware of the tides. i will highly recommend to take a guided tour for that as you can encounter quick sands and the tides rise and fall as fast as a galloping horse. The main gate is the only entrance to the village through is fortified gates. There is a water fountain at the entrance to
quench your thirst There is also toilets on the left side of the screen, where the line is, they cost 1β¬. Entrance of the Grande Rue, a narrow, crowded street lined with shops, hotels, and restaurants. There is a free hidden toilet ,on the right, just before the entrance of the church.π St. Pierre Parish Church is a small, historic church with a quiet atmosphere. From the cemetery, you can enjoy your fist view of the imposing abbey. And seagulls chilling!π€ On the left, there is the entrance of the Abbey. A full-price ticket is β¬16 during peak season from June to end of September. From October to May, the ticket is β¬13. There is free admission at certain conditions. We will visit the Abbey later in the video. Beginning of the ramparts where you can along the old defensive walls for stunning views of the bay and village. Of course, you’ll also find shops and restaurants. “Garden of the Ramparts” where you can rest for a bit in the shade. Or enjoy the view and the flood of people arriving. Stair case to the Abbey.It is better to book in advance as there is time slots to respect for the visit. The Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel is not just a building; it’s a testament to over a thousand years of history, faith, and architectural ingenuity. The western terrace, is the highest view point of the abbey where you can admire the mechanical horse from the Paris 2024 Olympic opening ceremony. “Zeus”, will be on display only during the summer of 2025. We’ve been lucky! It gallops for a minute every 4 minutes. If you time your visit at the right time, you can admire the tidal wave coming in at a speed of around 6km/h (3.7mph). Here it comes!π The theme of the 2025 light show was the moon, that is why there is a huge moon hanging from the nave. Entrance of the cloister garden, the heart of their monastery. It served as a place of quiet reflection, meditation, and prayer. Today, it is busy and loud but still magnificient. The garden in the center, open to the sky, symbolized the connection between heaven and earth. Hall of Knights, was the main work and study room for the monks. There is 2 humongous chimneys where you can step in. The Crypt of the Great Pillars is located directly underneath the choir of the abbey church. It was built to support the enormous weight of the Gothic choir above. The Treadmill Crane Room,where you see the great wheel. Essentially a giant hamster wheel for humans. It was installed in the abbey when it was used as a state prison. Its primary purpose was to lift food, firewood, and other supplies to the prisoners high up in the abbey. No visit would be complete without the gift shop!π€ And now, let’s fly!π€

Mont Saint-Michel is a masterpiece of human defiance! As you watched this tour, which part of its epic story felt the most unbelievable?
The Tides: That they can rise "as fast as a galloping horse," completely surrounding the Mount and creating deadly quicksand. π
