Sailing to Singapore, Staying at Changi Sailing Club and Exploring the City (I LOVED SINGAPORE)

[Music] pull I’ve been here at Cineabang Marina for like a day and a half and plans have changed as I knew was a possibility. Um, since I was like rushed to get out of Indonesia, I had less than 24 hours to clear out. When I did my clear out paperwork, they said, “What was the next port?” And I just said Singapore because I thought it’d be cool to stop into Singapore on my way here to check it out. The mistake I made was not thoroughly looking into researching that because I was so pressed on time. And then once I did research it, look into clearing into Singapore. I discovered that it was like $500 US for agent fees to clear into the country. I’ve never heard of any country ever charging that much, ever. Um, and then it was like for the marine I was going to clear into, it was like a $100 a night or something crazy. So, we Victoria helped me contact a bunch of people here to see if I could just clear into Malaysia and we spoke with an agent up up near um, Port Dickinson and he said, “Oh yeah, it’s no problem to change the port. Not a problem at all.” Like, no problem. and he runs like a yaching services company and all this stuff. So, so I went ahead and came over here to this marina and the guy CJ, the manager, who’s super nice. He’s been very helpful. He did got all my paperwork together. He h had an agent try to clear me in and they wouldn’t clear me in because my port said Singapore even though literally I can see Singapore. It’s like half a mile right there and they won’t clear me in. um mistake on my part for not doing research ahead of time, but again, I was rushed and um just messed up. Lessons learned. So, we discovered that yesterday that there was no way for them to clear me in. CJ was super nice, let me go ahead and spend the night again. I mean, I’m going to pay for the slip for the days I’ve been here. He let me fill up on water. But that’s the other cool thing is the drinking water from the tap here is it’s drinking water. It’s not poison like in Indonesia. He said all their water they buy all their water from Singapore and it’s all perfectly potable. So I was able to fill up all my water because I was like out of water. I’m still out of food because I wasn’t allowed to leave the marina complex because I never cleared in here. So, I’ve been just kind of at least I had access to the restaurants and stuff, but I haven’t got to go buy food or provisions or anything other than just getting food at restaurants, but I was grateful to be able to just chill out for two days and get nice food, get some ice cream, which is nice. And um so today at high tide, which is 11:00 a.m., we got to take a drive at 11 miles kind of back the way we came through the busy channel, but a little diversion down the Singapore side and go to the Chongi Sailing Club in Singapore. Um I found an agent who’s taking care of me. He’s doing it cheaper than the other agents were saying. Uh James Lim. So, he’s going to be clearing me in. Sent him all my documents yesterday. Got in contact with sailing club. They have a mooring for me. So, that’s what we’re going to do today at 11:00 a.m. We’re going to slip the lines here, take a little drive, and try to finally get cleared in and legal somewhere where I can get back to living regular life. It’s been a while. So, that’s the update. Learned a lesson and let’s hope everything goes smooth today. And we’re off. Heat. Heat. All right, we’re a mile from the Chongi Sailing club moing field. Pretty chill but high traffic passage but no weather so that was nice and all the big boats just kind of did their thing. It’s all good. But we have just just shy of a mile left and we’re 10 minutes early for our appointment to get picked up and take the immigration. So, we made it on time. Hello. Okay. Damn it. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat up here. Boom. All checked in at immigration. First time I’ve legally been in a country in like over a month. And I’ve been, this is the third country I’ve been in. Feels good to be legal. Uh, now I’m just got to figure out where the how to walk back to the sailing club. And it’d be nice to find some food cuz I’m starving. But stoked. And my agent was actually on James Lim was on his catamaran as we passed in the bumbo. So I got to wave at him. I think I’ll see him over at the uh sailing club when I get back. We’re in Singapore. Oh, good morning. I’m so happy to be here. I never realized how therapeutic it would be to being a mooring field full of sailboats, many of which actually go sailing. And to hear the sound of un uh unkempt howiards rattling on mast, something that has driven me completely mad in marinas in the past. It’s like such a welcome sound here after being in the wild west of I guess wild southeast of uh Indonesia for so long. Very very stoked to be in Singapore. Very happy accident on my part. Um, my buddy Jonathan who I sailed with from Newf Finland to Greenland to Iceland and his wife live here in Singapore. So, I’m going to link up with them. I think I’m going to spend the night with them one night and they’re going to show me the town and stuff. Um, other than that, it’s just kind of like I think I’m going to be at the sailing club now. I think I’m going to be here 4 days and then I’m going to go cruising for two days to these islands, St. John’s Island. And then I’m going to go to Ruffles or Raffles Marina on the other side of Singapore for like two days to clear out and then pop over back into Malaysia and actually get cleared in proper to Malaysia. Um, and then we’ll keep heading north, but this is going to be a nice like week of like exploring Singapore. Pretty excited. I mean, it’s it’s obviously more expensive than the surrounding countries, but when I went to get food last yesterday and then dinner last night here at the sailing club, it’s not as expensive as Los Angeles. So, just have to mind your finances. But also, it’s nice to have really quality food. Even the two places I’ve eaten, I’ve only eaten at two places and they weren’t fancy and they were the food was incredible. So, that’s going to be nice. And everybody talks about how good the food is in Singapore. So, I’m excited about that. I’m also going to find a Chandler, get a bunch of boat parts. Um, I’m in touch with the Yanmar dealer for Jiar Malaysia, and he’s ordering me a bunch of parts for the engine. um a new lift pump, a new dipstick because my seal is worn out and just keeps shooting the dipstick out when you run the engine. I I’ve duct taped it so that it stays in there now and that’s made a huge difference. Um a new fuel line, the one that I repaired. So, a replacement of that, replacement gaskets for the secondary fuel filter, all kinds of stuff. So, this dude has a whole parts list that he’s getting me sorted out that I’ll get once I get back over to Malaysia on the other side. Um, so happy to be here today. Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m going to do today. Feel it out, you know, get off the boat and go for a wander. other than going to the restaurants at that marina in Malaysia because I could only stay there at the marina complex. I hadn’t been off the boat in two weeks. Hadn’t stepped foot off the boat in two weeks. So, I’d like to go for a long walk. Uh might figure out the bus system or maybe get a Grab car and go over. There’s like a big botanical garden here. Uh lots to see here in Singapore. So, I think today my goal will be peep out a Chandler and see what they have, get some extra parts and stuff like that. Um, and then just go sightseeing, get a feel for Singapore. Before that, have more coffee, enjoy the sunrise, and be happy. Heat. Heat. This sailing club is awesome. like tons of like proper small boat sailing, big boats on mooring sailing, like real sailing taking place here. So refreshing after being in a place that’s not that’s not the case for so long. Um they have a nice facilities, giant pool, restaurant, a cafe that’s open on the weekends, and the staff are super nice. Really awesome. Walking across the famous Helix Bridge. I don’t know the name of this one tower, but it’s very iconic for Singapore. This other building is totally wild. It looks like pieces of an orange or something. Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music] Down. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Check out these crazy flowers. They’re like springy zigzaggy vine. I’ve never seen anything like that. Really cool. Coming up to this really famous sort of flower building tower things. Really cool looking. Check out these benches. [Music] really beautiful. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] This is bomb. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Okay. If you enjoy the content on this channel and would like to contribute, you can consider joining the Patreon crew. Thanks for watching.
