Hanoi, Vietnam: Life on the Streets – Old Quarter Walking Tour
Hey, I’m still here in Hanoi. I decided to take a walk on a Friday night to see what rush hour is like. I’m just curious if it’s as chaotic as uh every other night of the week. So, let’s go find out. So, so far what I see it’s not much different than a normal night. Something you don’t see often. Somebody getting a shave and a haircut on the street. The only streets are always very busy, but this should be during the their rush hour. So, let’s see. headed down to the center of the city. So, should get a little bit busier as we move along. Trick is always crossing the street and that bus ain’t helping. People seem to have no problem blocking the sidewalks, whether it be with merchandise or cars, motorcycles, just everything. I’m guessing this is train street or one of the train streets. I think there’s two. Everything looks closed. I’m not sure. So, I looked up the train schedules for tomorrow and um I’m going to come down here and check it out. Maybe we can get on there. See, people just come and be silly. [Music] I’m walking there with the camera and everybody keeps asking me if I want to ride. or coffee or something. Lots of little food spots. I do mean lots. He’s having a party over there. Okay, I’m back. Cut through a little alley like area, so decided to cut the camera off. Found a really good place to eat my first night here and I haven’t been able to find it since. If I run across it again, I’m going to get several meals to take back to my room and heat be able to heat up later. Got a few things some grab. It’s not been bad. I’m here after a day, five more days. I do want to go down to Ho Chi Men’s uh mausoleum and his home and few other places like that while I’m here. I did do that last time. That’s pretty nice. There we go. Sometimes I’ll leave the camera on during the craziness of trying to cross the street. Sometimes I turn it off. You watch any of my other Vietnam videos, you know, crossing the street can be a challenge. You just kind of got to go for it regardless of what the lights say. So a lot of times, you know, light will turn red, the cars will stop, the motorcycles just keep flying through. And always be sure to look both ways because even on oneway streets because there will be people going both ways on every oneway street in Hanoi that I’ve seen. I mean, just look at these motorbikes. So many everywhere. [Music] shirts and flags. So, do I like Hanoi? Yes, I do. I just wish they would either get some traffic laws or and force a few of them. That’s a little red guy there. So, we’re still headed down the same street. I mean, to be honest, the traffic ain’t nearly as bad as I expected. We should be out. Walk down through here in the daytime. in another video. Some propaganda posters. Some people like to collect that stuff. So, there’s just enough room to walk. And then somebody saw that and decided to put a motorcycle there. Get around. I’ll get ran over. Nice art shop. Great. I like buy an art, but I can’t buy anything that big. One, it would look weird in my house because everything else I have is smaller. And number two, still got a I trip all the time. Such nice sidewalks, postcards. small market there. Turn your eyes away just for a second. There’s either a car or a motorcycle in your in your face. That car just hit that. Well, it’s a dumb place to park. Green guy here. I’m crossing. People don’t like it. Well, people don’t like it. You know what makes me so sad? So, they’re blocking the streets. I’m not sure why. Oh, seem to make a big difference. Tiger Crystal, Aldo. It’s kind seems to be kind of the center of a lot of things. I know there’s a walking street, so they may be blocking things for that. a market here. Maybe I’ll come back tomorrow night and do that in a different video. Actually, I probably will. So, to be honest, the chaos of the traffic was nothing compared to what I expected. I don’t know exactly what he said, but like he was selling cigarettes and lighters. I have found a very popular area. Whoa. A few So, I’m going to come back down here tomorrow night. Really check out the uh night life scene. I heard it’s pretty pretty nice. So, we’re going to end this video here. Um, traffic wasn’t as bad as I thought. If you like this video, please subscribe, check the links in the description, and I will see you in the next one.
