The French Riviera is INCREDIBLE π«π· First Time in Nice, France
For the first time ever on this channel, we’re in France. Today, we’re in the Kotazour, more specifically Nice, the vibrant French Riviera city known for its beautiful coastline, rich cultural heritage, and blend of French and Italian influences. Come with us as we try to make the most of the late summer sun on one of the most picturesque coastlines in the world. Drink local wine and eat delicious food. Welcome to Nice. And we have made it to the Mediterranean. We are here in the Kot Dazour in Nice, France. It is gorgeous. You might be able to tell the sun is shining. The sea is glistening in our faces. It’s a beautiful beautiful like late summer’s day. Last night and tonight, we’re staying in a lovely little hotel that’s a little bit more a little bit further out, like half an hour up in the mountains. Like we were squiggling up all our way up into the mountains here. Yeah, my ears popped once. The south of France. So, the altitude was higher and it is in a place that’s called Kolomar. Yeah. Uh and it’s just calmer, quieter, and most importantly, a lot more uh affordable. Yeah. I literally, we’ve only driven here about 5 minutes ago. We packed up. I’ve seen this is the fourth private jet coming in and landing into Nice airport, which is uh just over there. I’ve never seen so many private jets in my life. Right now there’s a ultramarathon uh race finishing right here on the prominade. Uh the timing is immaculate for that. But I think the prominade is so long. We’re on the prom down glaze. Uh and it is such a long prominade. Yeah, it goes all the way from uh the castle here which we’ll go up to uh later on all the way down this way to the airport. Now I’ve heard the word k dazur and I’m probably pronouncing that completely wrong. um many times and I didn’t actually know what it means cuz people call this place the Mediterranean. They also call it the French Riviera and Kotazur as well. And apparently some person who came here hundreds of years ago saw that the water was very blue and it was the color of Azour. Azure Azour Azour I think Azour. That’s why they they called it the Kazour cuz the water here is very very blue. Funded by wealthy English experts in the 1800s, this 7 km long prominade was aptly named the prominade de Anglay. Today it’s a mix of pebbled beaches, deck chairs, restaurants and cafes along with iconic buildings and public spaces. So just out from the prominade or just in from the prominad um you come into Nice Old Town which is uh somewhere I’ve been really excited to come because it’s like right down by the water next to a castle. Oh, it’s something called Castle Hill, which we’ll also go after earlier uh later on. Sorry. And uh it’s just from photos online. Every building is just colorful. It just looks awesome. On our travels, we you’ve probably seen that we like eating a croissant like a baked good in the morning when we travel, right? And now we’ve come to France. Yeah. And just look at these. We’ve come to this place that’s on a little bit of a square. So, we only walked about a minute and we ordered a double espressos as well. I didn’t expect it to be uh so big. I don’t know how the um Europeans make espresso this tasty. When I try to make espresso back home, you can’t say Europeans because we go to like Sweden, we don’t make good espressos in Italy, France, Portugal. Yeah. Like the Mediterranean countries. When I try and make an espresso, it’s horrible. But I make a good latte, so I don’t know what’s going wrong there. I think it must be just like in their hearts to make a good espresso. Like they get born and they know how to make a good espresso. That’s what I’m messing about. Wow. Fair play. The French picture. All right, we are now in the Plas Masenna, which is the sort of center point or the beginning point of getting into the old town. Uh, and this like you can you can tell right behind us here. There’s some gorgeous just the colors look so fancy. I know this part of Nice is very nice. Sorry, I just had to drop that in there at least once in today’s video. Plasma Senna is Nissa’s main public square known for its black and white checkerboard paving, famous fountains, and distinctive red and white Italian styled architecture. Yes, you heard me right. I said Italian. Nice has historical ties with the kingdom of Sardinia from which it was transferred to France in 1860. It’s the opera. Wo. Yeah, that building looks cool. It looks like it should be an opera house. Yeah, but look at these buildings around here. Like the colors are fantastic. Apparently, there’s been history here for 400,000 years. There’s there’s there’s there’s signs that people lived here 400,000 years ago, but these buildings here are more likely from about 200 years ago. Um, which now they still look very new. I think they’ve been upkept. Yeah, I was going to say it’s very well upkept. It’s obviously a affluent area. Nice. What’s nice as well, you see a lot of dogs around here, especially a lot of small dogs, but that kind of shows that people actually live here and that it’s not just uh tourists that are here in the center, even though there is a lot of tourists. Right in the heart of N’s old town is the Corsa Market selling flowers, fruits, vegetables, cured meats, jams, honey, and other delicious looking food. We’re here to try something very local to Nice called SOA, a flatbread made from chickpea flour, water, olive oil, and salt. Uh he’s the guy that brings the fresh one in. I think I’m excited to try this. Yeah, so am I. I wonder if it’s going to be sweet or savory. What do you think? I’m not sure. Here it is. So, what is this? Saka. It’s Saka. It’s a classic nisa street food. And it is essentially like a pancake made from chickpeas, olive oil, salt, water. I think very simplistic. Yeah, it looks so crispy, but it’s very hot. So, let’s stroll around the corner and let it cool down a little bit first. Oh, to begin with, it tastes quite pancakey. M. It’s actually quite um savory. It is quite cheesy if anything. M. It’s nice and salty. I think the pigeon wants some as well. Oh my god. Wasn’t aiming for it. They look like it. This video is sponsored by Holafly. We never travel without an eim anymore. It’s just easier. This summer we’ve driven through the Nordics, explored Switzerland. Now we’re here in Nice, and we’re heading to Monaco and Italy next. And the best part is we can use the same eim in every location. We buy the Holif Eim online before we even leave home. It arrives instantly in the app or by email and setup only takes minutes and it works as soon as we arrive. Holifly has unlimited data in over 200 destinations. And that really matters nowadays because apps chew through data, maps, social media, streaming, even a quick voice call. A tiny data plan is gone fast. One of our favorite parts is that Holif has over 15 regional plans. We’re on the Europe plan which covers over 30 countries. We can happily continue our road trip from Switzerland to here in France and onwards. If you’re traveling soon, grab a hole eim from the link in description box below. And don’t forget to use our code two passports one dream for 5% off. Now, let’s get back to exploring Nice. This here is Ruat, which means straight street. And it’s one of the oldest streets here in Nice. And it does just go on for ages. But this old town here in Nice is so nice that you can just walk in any direction and find really nice French sort of architecture. And it’s pretty quiet. I could walk around streets like this forever. Yeah. Wow. Look at the uh umbrellas here. Yeah, I know. It’s a Indian restaurant. Wo. I know. They’ve literally clean the whole section of the street. We’re still in the old town and then this is just slap bang in the middle. I know. It’s so beautiful. It’s so intricate. Yeah. Look how much detail has gone in to the paintings on the roof. Doesn’t even look real, does it? No. It’s so blue. Wow. It’s even bluer than earlier when we were here. Yeah. Wow. I think on a clear day like this, it’s like it shines. There’s places to have a drink up there. I know. On the balcony there. To be honest, in these I feel like there’s places to have a drink everywhere. Okay, let’s grab something to eat and then maybe we can grab a drink after. That’d be nice. All right, we are sort of outside of the old town now. We just walked a little bit down the prominard and we’re just walking to get some food. But uh this area is so nice, especially because it’s out in the sun and some of these buildings here. You’ve got like restaurants and bars and really nice hotels. There was even a casino back over there. Nice is nice. I I can imagine this whole stretch of 7 km is just stunning. Yeah, it Yeah, it’s just like eeries, cocktail bars, cafes, hotels. We have to go for a drink later. Yeah, let’s see. Let’s see. So, we’ve sat down in a place called Pen, which just means bread, I think. And we’ve got two little sandwiches called Pan Vagna or Ba, I’m not sure. I I don’t speak French. That sounds That sounds wrong. But it’s essentially a niswah salad in a sandwich. Tuna, olive oil, salt and pepper. We’ve got hard-boiled egg and some vegetables in there like tomato and actual salad leaves. And then it’s in a sandwich. Isn’t that fun? A lot more fun than a salad, I think. Oh, the bread even looks kind of like oily. M. I forgot to say olives. Ah. M. That is fresh. That is really nice. Yeah. I’ve actually never had an issu salad. Smells really nice. Wo. You like it? This is not a sandwich I would usually go for. It tastes Mediterranean. Yeah, it’s olives, I think. That is a good shot. Oh, the bread is like a kabata or chabata, however you say it. Mhm. Like a little bit uh crispy. How is that even possible? Wow. It looks like um you know, you’ve uh turned the saturation up. Yeah, this is real. Like face for reference. Nothing’s gone crazy with the editing. It genuinely looks bluer than the sky. Yeah, it’s nearly the same color as uh this like bin here. Yeah. See? All right. So, we have come to a place called Opera Lage. I’ve got a nice pale rosΓ© which is from Provence which if you know your French geography, you’ll know that we’re in Poland right now on the greater area of Provence. And they’ve actually been making pale roses in this area for 2,600 years. So, this is bound to be good. Is it good? Yeah, it’s great. But I think it’s even better because when I look over of the beautiful blue ocean and then the sun is shining and life’s just good. And this is delicious. So what do you think about me so far? It’s nice. No, it but it is though. It’s really nice. Like just being able to walk around in the sunshine. Yeah. Place that already takes some big boxes for us. Like a lot of people here are on holiday. So, there’s a lot of vibe here. You as soon as you arrive, you feel laidback. Mhm. I like it. Yeah. Wa! It’s so windy here. Yeah, it is. I tucked my hair into my top. Yeah. This is interesting. They’ve got loads of flags here. And one of the biggest ones over here is a Swedish flag. Yeah. And it feels like it’s bigger than the rest of them for some reason. I don’t know why it’s here. Maybe there’s there’s a lot of Swedish people here. I will say that much for free. And every corner I’ve turned, I’ve heard someone be like, and I’m like, “Hello, my people.” Yeah. We are now going up to the chatau. And you can actually walk up here this way. Chateau. A sensor dhateau. Oh, it’s a castle, right? I thought chateau just meant like house. All I can see is the beautiful Swedish flag and then the American flag. Wow. This is so nice. Now you can properly see how long uh this prominard de Anglay actually is. Oh, this is nice. You can see like the old town here, which is the ones with the orange roofs. And then further up, you can see some actual newer buildings. And I think we’re staying up up, you know, up in these mountains up here. Yeah. Yeah. Which is just super cool. Technically no ma. Is that a private jet? Yeah. There’s so many private jets. They’re all going to Monaco. Yeah. For one move. Wow. These look small compared to the one that’s over here. Yeah. But that’s a cruise ship, right? Yachts are so much bigger than boats. Yeah, they’re just so long and there’s so much like living space on them. Honestly, it’s like the difference between getting um like a onebedroom studio apartment and getting a mansion. Yeah. Yeah. And some of them even look like beach clubs. Like they’ll have, you know, pillows and they’ve got a bag. The decking looks like a vibe that you want to hang out. But to be honest, if you’re going to get a yacht, you’re going to want to be able to spend time in the sunshine on the yacht. You’re not going to want to just like get from point A to point B and then get off. You want to be able to chill there a little bit, right? As if today couldn’t get any better. We’ve now sat down in a wine bar, which is also a restaurant. And it’s not only uh Michelin Guide 2023. It’s also go in Milo. Oh, smells amazing. And smells amazing. Yeah, I can’t remember what it was called, but this was what the bottle looked like. So, there’s shakuteri, some fish stuff, and then shared uh plates. There’s actually a lot of them. A lot of them. And desserts. Uh I’ve already eyed up a few options. I think we’ll go for about five. Maybe about five, I think, would be good. We don’t usually eat out fancy, but when you’re in the south of France, you have to splash out a little. The food and wine pairing here is so good. We end up ordering some puff cheese ravioli, fig with gorgonzola, a cheese of the day plate, corn fritters, pork belly, and squid with chorizo. Oh wow. We’re not going to order any dessert here, though, because we want to try a famous ice cream place in the old town known for having a huge choice of flavors. You finding anything? I’m There’s so many flavors. There’s I think four completely different freezers of uh ice cream. Yeah. And it’s like Well, it’s ice cream and uh sorbets. Uh can I have one small tub with Pacific? Yeah. Uh one small one with um fli. Oh, come on. Look at where we are as well. Look at where we are. We’re back here by the uh cathedral from earlier. I’ve got a lemon basil. Yeah. Which is interesting. Blossom of orange. I think it translated into which also sounds amazing. I think these are Yours looks like an ice cream. Mine looks like a sorbet. Yours is an ice cream. Yeah. I wonder if this is going to be good. Wo. It smells like basil. Oh yeah. Ooh. Very subtle hint of orange. Want to try? Yeah. It’s like a lemon sorbet with loads of basil chopped up in it. Oh, that’s good. Today has been a awesome day. First time ever in Nice. And I I really like it. Yeah. Obviously, we’ve really just explored this corner of Nice. I haven’t even seen many of these places here, but it’s from what I’ve seen today, I really like it. Next time you see us, we’re going to be driving down to Monaco, baby. Well, technically we’re staying outside of Monaco cuz Monaco’s expensive, but we’re going to be in Monaco, baby. Yeah. So, see you in the next one. Bye bye.

I feel your pain about Espresso. How amazing is Nice! Safe travels!
The bad thing about beaches there is they tend to be very rocky, not sand as you would expect.
CΓ΄te d'Azur beaches are rocky due to the local geology, which features a rapid drop-off and pebbles originating from the Alps. The Mediterranean Sea also lacks significant tides, which would otherwise help build up sandy beaches, and many areas have had sand artificially imported.
A chΓ’teau is a large French country house, castle, or palace that can be either fortified or unfortified.
French Riviera is a beautiful place in France – Mediterranean vibe, unique culture, vibrant colours, stunning architecture, laid-back atmosphere, warm weather, delicious cuisines, and warm and hospitable people ποΈπ₯°
Can I ask about the signs of humans living there 400,000 years ago? Surley that can't be right, maybe 4,000 years ago, as an
established city? Definitely during the Roman times 2,000 years ago
@2Passports1Dream did you buy a home in the UK or Europe?
The algorithm showed this too me. I think it sensed that you got your sandwich just down the block (where I regularly go for the pan bagnat). I hope you enjoyed your visit, and I enjoyed the video. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
I have been to the French Riviera 15 times when I used to attend the Cannes film festival every year. Antibes is also very nice and not too far away.
Ok, I can't stay quiet after the last 3 episodes. Adriana, put your microphone on the outside of your clothing please. Your sound has been muffled for a few episodes now. Dylan's is working fine. Not sure who told you to hide it, but we care more about clear audio than seeing a microphone visually. 99% of YouTubers have microphones that are visible because sound quality wins every time over seeing a microphone. At the moment, half the time its like hearing someone talk through a blanket. Either that or review the material the microphone is sitting under as currently, it muffles a large portion of your sound. Other than that, keep up the fantastic content.
latte is so american the real coffee for decades is italian expresso the rest is a joke
