Deadwood: Where to Stay & Eat (Best of the Wild West)
Back to Deadwood. We’re going to go gamble, stay in a nice warm hotel, get some real food. We haven’t gone out to for food since we left. What else? This is the view down there. Deadwood, South Dakota. We are in the Holiday Inn in Deadwood, South Dakota. There’s my James. Here’s a nice king-size bed, a desk, a TV, dresser. I like how the Holiday Inns have these benches for luggage and stuff. So much easier than those racks. A couch. Jim, you want to sit down on the couch and show off your legs? Both legs up and pose. Go. Yes, he matches nice with the furniture. He does not come with the room. Got a microwave, ice bucket, coffee, curig. My iron flask is not included and not a sponsor. sink. A refrigerator that’s empty and clean. And that don’t look clean though. Let’s pretend we didn’t see that dirt. And we got extra blanket, an ironing board, an iron. Oh, and a perfectly average bathroom. Cleanliness on the level of one to five. I probably give it a four. I saw a big long hair in the bathroom. I’ll take a video of the lobby and the casino downstairs. There’s a casino downstairs. I love casinos. Jim, do you love casinos? Is there a safe in here? Um, we need to check the safe for money. Pillow. A random pillow. At least it’s not a dead hooker under the bed. That sounds like you, huh? Yeah, that’s that’s so you, Jim. That’s when we have a problem. Mhm. Nope. No. Then you know that your maid is not doing. So there is no safe. So they don’t expect you to win in their casino. And you have a nice view of the Deadwood right across from the bodega. Steakhouse saloon. There’s fresh coffee brewer downstairs. How do you like that coffee, Jim? It’s good. It’s not been sitting out all day. They had beans on top. We’ll get a video of that. Yeah. Makes it right there. We’ll have to get a video of you making coffee. That’s right. Oh, yeah. That was good, though. Holiday and coffee. They have breakfast in the morning. Parking is a little inconvenient. Maybe we’ll show us walking to the parking when we go leave in the morning. It’s not convenient, but you’re on a historic street right where the action is. We’re going to go have some fun and we’ll have final review and we’ll show you around the hotel in a little bit. Steal those from me. Someone’s going to steal the van from us. No, we’re going to go to a shootout. We don’t have shootouts during the weekday off season. You’re going to make it happen. I’m going to make it. You pretty carpeting. Welcome to Mhm. They have breakfast here. It’s available through there and here. There’s a coffee maker there. casino is that way. There’s a pool and a hot tub, too. And a gym with coffee. And coffee. And an elevator. Always good. Mhm. This is a good coffee though. Scale from 1 to 10, give it a six, seven. Pretty good. [Music] Yeah, we’ll try it. What beer did you get? I got the fat fish pong horn peak white egg. Remember that time we were at the one restaurant and I took a drink of your beer and I just drank your whole beer? Yeah. Yeah. I just I mean I just have a full box and I handed it back and it was empty. I didn’t do that this time. Not this time. So, this is like the first time we’re actually going out for food since we left on Friday. We’ve been cooking and everything in our van. Yeah, that’s right. So, this is a treat. Excited. We’re have I’m getting a burger. Jim’s getting a burger. Supposed to be Oh, gunslinger rolls. Oh, yeah. Excited. I’m hungry. Don’t Don’t say I don’t need it. I could go on a diet any too. Anytime you want. Anytime you want. You only live once. Seriously. As long as you’re healthy. Love yourself. James, do you think our cutter rolls are almost here? Really? Do you think this will be worth it? It better be. You think it’s worth the hype? I think so. Is it? French. I’m hungry. I believe you got brunch and ranch, right? Gunslinger rolls. What are they? They’re chicken and like cream cheese. They’re egg rolls with cream cheese. And chicken and Yeah, I believe so. And there’s some plum sauce. Are they hot? Hot. Yeah, it’s a little hot. We have to wait a minute. The sauce is good. Try it. It’s hot. You’re going to burn your face. [Music] It tastes like a crab raon type thing with chicken. It’s a little spicy. Yeah. Yeah. You checking all the plum sauce? Well, I just got the plate with the plum sauce. It is like a front crab blend regular fat. It’s good. I probably wouldn’t order it again, [Music] but it’s good. We will eat now. Jim, if the sauce is good, you keep it on the table. Never know. French fry dip. Exactly. A little hamburger. Your burger in there and pour it on your burger. So, if the sauce is good, don’t let them take it away. Where’d it go? There it is. One beer multiplied. One beer multiplied into two beers. Uh-oh. We’re going to have trouble. I got my own beer. It’s really good. I’m not a beer drinker. And it’s really good. It is really good. It’s really, really good. Where is it made? Fat fish horn peach wheel. Yeah. Tastes good. Fat. Thank you. I don’t know if you need ketchup or mustard. Oh, you already have. We already got You don’t want a couple more? No. What is that? Oh, that’s the sauce. Chili sauce. Mhm. That looks like a big old mess. The fries are good. Mhm. It looks really good. Bacon. [Music] Let’s eat. He ate all this food almost. Okay. So, we’re going down to breakfast and Watching a little South Park before we go down. I love South Park. Who’s your favorite South Park character? Mine is Butters. What about you, Jim? Who’s your favorite? I like Cartman. No, I’m I’m I’m a Butters kind of gal. Montia Montia. That episode for For some reason, it it took me forever to realize Spanish word for butter. Montia. Montia. The story. We were in Puerto Rico and my son was ordering toast with butter and he said Montika and I was like that’s the word for butter. Duh. So that whole episode started to make sense to me. So that’s a little offside but we’re going to go down to breakfast now. But we had a good night’s sleep. Did you? Very good. I had weird dreams but it was cuz this place is haunted. I’m pretty sure it’s haunted. I felt bad haunted juju. Something was touching my leg all night. Sorry. Let’s go get breakfast. You have a key. I I put one in my pocket. You touch medium smooth. And then are you going to make me account? I will make you. Okay. I’ll go see what the food is. It’s a typical breakfast stuff. You going to be nice? Am I always nice? They have a pool. It smells like it’s pool in here. There’s no one in here. There’s no one in here. They got a hot tub. Nice. A nice pool. Oh, wow. Some towels. The water doesn’t look that bad. I was expecting it to look I was expecting it to look dirty. Emergency exit. This parking’s over there. Cars. Okay. Oh, wow. It’s nice. The only I think the only negative is the parking is way over there. Got a map. Got a map. The business center. I’d stay here again for sure. I’d stay here again. I’ll show you the front where you drop off because like with the parking so far, they actually have a nice little setup so you can check in, get your bags in, and then go park. And I’ll walk all the way to the parking lot with you guys so you can see it. I hope. Yeah, I’d like to. But so in the front they have parking. So, when you’re checking in, it’s on Lee Street and you can check in and you can park here. They said as long as we needed to, but you check in, then you get a parking pass and then you have to park all the way over here. Let’s go. Going to take you with us. Awesome. It is going to be a gorgeous day. made sure they were going to stop. I don’t want to die in Deadwood. Then you go this way. on the back side of the main drag, right? Yeah. Oh, motorcycles. I’m going to go buy some motorcycles. Let’s just go through here. Taking a shortcut. Is there a way in that way or it’s got to be all the way over there? Yeah, I see one. Where? Okay. And that’s how you get in is over there. And there’s a code to punch in. Hey, I know you. Oh, hi. Hi. You got my backpack. I have a nice backpack. It is a nice backpack here. So, it’s not really a bad walk, but what how long did it take us? Less than two minutes, but um it could be a problem for someone, right? If you were disabled with a wheelchair, wheelchair accessible only. Yeah, it could be a a problem. I think the most confusing thing is not knowing where you’re going to park. So, this tells you right now how easy it really was. She gives you a parking pass with a map on the back. That is right. So, we’re on to our next location.
