Departure from Cape Town Airport – Tour of Bidvest Airport Lounge & Food at Cape Town International
Hello to you all from me Maxi and from me Maro. We are just coming to the end of a absolutely wonderful 3 and 1/2 week holiday in Cape Town, South Africa. We’ve had a glorious time down here. But like all holidays, they all come to an end at some stage and this one’s coming to an end. But we are totally happy with the time we spent here. There’s been more than enough time and we’ve seen so much. But now it’s time to fly home. We’re flying home with Emirates via Dubai and from Dubai to Copenhagen. So, we got to take you with us on two flights. Both flights will be on Boeing Trip 7. We’ve got some nice two seaters in the back. Those of you who follow us regularly will know that we always try to get the back seats on the Boeing trip 7. That means that we have it to ourselves and we don’t have to ask anybody when we want to go to the lavatory or get up and stretch our legs, etc. We’re going to take you through the check-in process. We’re not going to do a tour of Cape Town Airport. We’ve already done that. So, we’ll leave a link to that down below where you can have a look at that if you want to see what Cape Town International looks like inside. But, I said we’ll do the check-in. The one thing we are going to try to do now is go back to the lounge that we were in last time. It was a very good lounge here in the airport. There’s also a link to that down below in the description. You can go and have a look what that lounge is like. I don’t think we got to make a video about that, are we? Maybe maybe an upto-ate video. We’ll do a little little one about that. But, uh, our flight, what time is it now, Maro? Now it is 13:49. 13:49 and our flight leaves at 6:25. We’re here at the airport uh early because obviously we have to check out earlier at the hotel. We didn’t feel like hanging around there. So maybe we’ll have time to show you a little bit here and there and uh see what we get up to in the airport. Yeah. So and Emirates is writing that you better be in the airport 4 hours before your flight. That they always right. Now, I’m going to stop rambling, as I always say, after I’ve rambled for long enough. And uh we’re just going to wait for the check-in to open there. Yes, behind us. I’m not quite sure when that’s going to happen. It does look like check-in will be opening soon. Just loading our luggage. Not very normal that we have three big luggages, but we did buy some nice foods we wanted to take home with us this time. So, three hefty luggages. I’m dreading getting home and carrying up to the fourth floor in our apartment. Looks like I’m being filmed today, and I’m a little bit in charge of the checkin. And I can load the bags too. [Music] Okay. So this is with the luggage. Dubai to Copenhagen. Dubai Copenhagen. Thank you so much. 83. Thank you very much. Yes. Thanks so much. H and have a good Christmas season. Thank you very much. Byebye. Chicken’s done. That was very lucky. What time is it, Maro? It is 8 minutes past 2. 8 minutes past 2. Yes. So, now we’re just going to take a little round around the airport and then go through security and hopefully we can get into the lounge. Yes, we decided to just come upstairs quickly to have a look at the apron and Turkish Airlines, British Airways, Kenyan Airlines over there. And it’s a beautiful sunny summer day here in Cape Town. So, hopefully we have a nice view when we take off for 25 6. What do you say, Mar? Is the sun’s still shining at that time? I can’t remember what time sunset was. Yeah. like there’s a big fire there. There’s always a big fire out there. I was watching from the hotel also in that direction. Last time we were having this view in Finland. It was snowing. Indeed. Indeed. And check that video if we’ve made it already. I’ll leave a link to it down below or I’ll add it when we have made the the video. So anyway, we’re going to make our way downstairs now. See you after security. On we go. Yes. Planning our gates. What gate were we? Oh, I don’t think so. It’s not even up. It is up. 1820 A3. A3. Okay. Very nice service. Yeah. Ah, it’s very quick. Very quick check in and you know your gate immediately. Off we go. I’m wondering if M is going to you’re enjoying the little animals again. Animals of Africa. Last time we had to stop for a photo everywhere here. What’s your plan, Maro? I remember this so well. These giraffes. Yeah, we got a few selfies there last time coming. Elephants are up there up ahead of us. Oh, what’s that landing there? That must be that Sapphire, South African airline of some kind. New airline. I don’t know that. Fly Sapphire. And then we have the Turkish Airlines A350, which we actually flew here to Cape Town on last time, which was very good. And uh those of you wanting to watch that video, there’s a link to it down below in our description. Bye-bye, Africa. See you again soon. Non SA passport holders to the left. That would be us as we pass through the light tunnel here to immigration and then hopefully straight up to the lounge to sit and wait for our flight. Just follow the signs in the airport as usual and I’ll turn off now as immigration is just ahead of me here. See you after immigration. Here we are. Thankfully, there’s no queue for the lounge. We have the lounge key. And this is the Bidest Premier Lounge where we were last time. We have made a video about that. I’m not sure whether I’ll make a video as I said earlier on, but Maro said that maybe I will. Yeah, little clips here and there. Yeah, if not, there’ll be a link down below. There’ll be link down below anyway to our past video about the lounge. See you upstairs. 80 US plus one guest on the lounge crew. Yes. Oh, that was nice that there’s not a long queue. Yes, we could get up there. Oh, it’s a little bit different than last time. Different. Mhm. It’s sort of the same, I’d say. The chairs here are different. Ah, so some comfy seats where we can see something there. Yeah, I suppose. So, how was the other side? Maybe a little bit the other side view there. Maybe. We really enjoyed this lounge last time and it looks like it’s even better this time. Nice selection of food which I’ll show you here in a moment. Drinks bar you fetch up there and everything is complimentary. Some waffles, ice cream, some cakes. Looks like some kind of falafles, sandwiches, little chicken bones, salads. Nice looking salads. Really nice. Got a few salad dressings, tomatoes, onions, cauliflower. Once again, the bar up here. Champagne also for those of you who want some champagne. A very clean and neat lounge. Coffee facilities. Got some chips over here. Also nice to see chips, chutney chips, barbecue chips, smoked beef, some nice buns, cheese quissons, all sorts of songs and even some cook sisters. It’s really nice. We come over to the hot foods here. We got some bumper over here in this bowl there. Must be some kind of curries on mashed potatoes. We got some other dishes here. Stir-fried vegetables on there. I’m not quite sure what that is. Looks like some kind of a curry. Smelling good. Obviously, we have some rice, too. That curry I just mentioned there. I got the label here. Atuiki potato pea curry. Come around for the biscuits. Don’t take your fruits with you and biscuits. It’s for consumption in the lounge only. One more dish. Chickpea and cauliflower soup. And we have a what is that called? I can’t really read. Potenta vegan dish. And some chicken sticks. More than enough. As you can see, I think there’s a smoking room just up ahead and uh another area to sit here. That is what the lounge looks like. Hope that gave you an idea. It’s a very worthwhile lounge. I said we enjoyed it last time and we’re really enjoying it now. We found our seat over here by the windows. Nice. Comfortable. Maro, you just show us how the table slides. Very convenient tables. Look at that. I’m out of just catching some Instagrams down there. If you haven’t followed us already on Instagram, please do so. Links down below in the description and on the screen now. Mrs. Balls chutney flavor. Very good. Does smell like Mrs. Balls? Maybe a little bit. Good. Very nice. I don’t know if I was able to taste Mrs. B chutney if I didn’t know that it was Mr. B chutney. Okay. But it’s very nice. Absolutely. We don’t have this in Denmark. Smoked beef. M. I like it. Yeah. Very good. Has a smoked taste. Very nice. Both are very nice. Thumbs up to Simba. Found some good stuff there. These are definitely the vegetables, but what is that for example? I don’t know. And that looks like a chicken or tofu or something. Nonetheless, it’s a nice nice selection, isn’t it? Very nice. Very colorful. Well, I’m not quite sure what I got either, but it is some kind of curry. It was this curry or some kind of beef on mayonnaise or sorry, on the mashed potatoes. I just added this curry sauce from the bowl. This was looking a little bit older, but I have to try it. So, I hope I’m not going to regret it. And we have stomach problems on the plane. I just went for seconds. Shepherd’s pie. Shepherd’s pie, vegetable curry, and Thai noodles. Smelling good. Found myself a nice plate of shepherd’s pie. A lot of salad there also. And they have the Heineken Zero beer here in the lounge, too. Just went to sample the cakes. This is a caramel loaf, the one on the bottom. And the one on the top looks like a chocolate brownie. Okay, viewers, how you like this combination? Marshmallows and a go cheese. How does that work? I couldn’t resist. We’re just about to I’m just Did you have your finger in your I couldn’t find the right part right part of the video. Now, as I was saying, we’re just about to wrap up here in the lounge now. Make our way down to our gates. There’s a pillow neck pillow Maro wants to buy for her neck. So, we’ll see if we can get it or not. Depending on the price, we got a few rand spend. I can put the rest in my car. Now, we got to finish off here. is quite full alone so somebody else can take our seats and uh looking forward to boarding very soon. Should be after 15 minutes but I have a doubt about that because the plane just came a little time ago. Yeah, it’s always later than I say. Yeah, as we said we were very lucky when we came. There was nobody here. Now there’s a queue. Thank you very much. Bye bye. Thank you. So what will we get? A3. There’s our plane over there. Yeah, [Music] I remember these ones from last time. Yeah, the Africa shop there with the How much for the pillows? Start from a range of 350 up to 350. Okay, thanks. And off we go. So, off to gate A3. Always nice with a little follow in the airport just to see what there is. Seems a little bit more open than when we were here in April. April 23. Was it April 20 23 we were here? Yeah, I believe so. Huh? Yeah. Little bit more active. A few more or most shops open it looks like. Yeah. So that’s nice to see again after the co that’s gay day 3 over there. Just there ahead of us we have today’s plane Emirates Boeing trip 7300 and Turkish Airlines was A350 that we flew with last time to Cape Town is just leaving there in the background picture to the right if you want to see that video we made I’ll leave a link to it down below in the description. Maro got her pillow there. See who’s most comfortable on the flight. And here we have our gate. Hopefully we’ll be boarding soon. Get in there and relax a little bit. There we have our aircraft. Man’s leading the way as usual and the lovely evening here in Cape Town. Yeah. Isn’t it? Yeah. We came with beautiful weather and we leave with beautiful weather. Absolutely. And on we go.
Our Departure from Cape Town International Airport. If you are visiting Cape Town this video will give you an impression of what it is like to Depart from Cape Town International Airport in Cape Town, South Africa. In this case we were flying with Emirates and on our previous visit we flew with Turkish Airlines. In both cases the Departure process was the same from arrival at the Airport, Check-in for our fight, passing through Immigration / Passport Control and walking to the gate. We are Lounge Key card holders which means that we also had access to the fantastic Bidvest Premium Lounge located in the International Departures Area (Passengers Only) of Cape Town Airport. We include a tour of this lounge and also show the selection of foods and drinks that were available when we visited.
Wiki writes about Cape Town International Airport, “Cape Town International Airport is the primary international airport serving the city of Cape Town, and is the second-busiest airport in South Africa and fourth-busiest in Africa.” Until the fall of apartheid Cape Town International Airport was called D.F. Malan Airport. The IATA Code for Cape Town International Airport is CPT
