CABO POLONIO NO ES PARA TODOS | URGUAY🇺🇾
Cabo Polonio National Park. Let’s see what awaits us at this lodging. Now we’re going to put the crown that was stolen from the Louvre. We’re going to put it here. Today I invite you to a Uruguayan barbecue. A little hill to one side. There’s a sacred rule that… this is the sea lion colony. Oh, chicken, what do you make them with? Is it mud? Hello, good morning. Good morning, friends. Welcome. New video. I’m, we’re, very excited because this video is going to be unlike any other. We’re going to have a unique experience. We’re in Cabo Polonio. Well, we haven’t arrived yet at… the place is called Puerta del Polonio, here where you buy your ticket, and we’re going to travel in this to get to a town in the middle of nowhere. There’s no electricity, no water, I mean, pipes, you know. There’s no running water. Yes, there’s no running water. There’s no light, no cell phone signal. I mean, we’re going to be totally disconnected, and it’s a place to live an alternative life experience, different from what one is used to. How much did we pay for the bus fare? Oh, right. Look, they sell round-trip tickets for 450 per person. The town is located in a nature reserve, so you can’t go in; it’s a protected area. You can’t enter with your own car. If you come with your car, you have to pay for parking because you have to leave it out here, and you have to take these buses anyway. So, we’re going to be here for two days and two nights, and we’re going to document this for you. How exciting! I’m already getting dizzy. Oh, oh, oh. It’s so beautiful that everything is made of wood, you see? Yes, I fit. For the little angel. Well, we’re waiting for the bus. Cabo Poloni National Park, protected area. Right now, we’re here. We’re going to do this. It’s about 30 minutes in the little buses we told you about. And look, observing the sea lion resting. Get on the safari. We have a lot of things. We left the suitcases in the trunk. And we always have to have these with us, these two. And this is food to survive. We have food. We’re also going to cross the dunes and a desert, I think. I’m going to stay a little closer to you. Let’s go. Oh, it’s moving a lot. We have to be careful with the bags. An old truck heading nowhere. Cabo Polonio calls to me and hugs me. Okay. Here we are going to enter the national park. Look, Cabo Polonio. There it is. Look, it says fire risk. Why? Ah, because of the heat maybe. But today we have a gray day, huh? It’s not that hot. Look at this. What could it be? A wolf? A whale. It’s a whale. A beluga whale. A southern right whale. Wow. Maybe it’s going to remind us of the Huacachina oasis there with the buggy, remember? My neck is going to get sore. You can start to see the little town, you can see the lighthouse. And there are the dunes that cover it, but we’re close. This is the beach of Cabo Polonio. Wow, it’s very pristine. Oh, it’s cold. It’s windy. So windy… Poor Joris. Winter’s starting. Look how shivering he is. He’s freezing. Here’s the bus stop. We’re here. There’s only one stop, and this is where the hostels and people’s houses start. I think this is our little house, the blue one. Yes. Well, we’re 50 meters away, the lady told us. I wondered, “But are there streets?” I mean, because the lady told me, “Look, it’s this house. You’ll be 50 meters north of I don’t know what, Cabo Polonio. If you see this beach, it’s on the left.” And I said, “But aren’t there streets?” or numbers? And no, there aren’t any streets. I mean, it’s the only town that doesn’t have addresses. They’ll probably tell you, “Turn right, turn left, and you’ll get there.” Yes. Or the fisherman’s house. I have the key now. There’s a padlock. Look, it’s all rusted up like the one on the padlock fountain in Montevideo. Let’s see what awaits us at this lodging. Oh, well, it’s not cold. Well, welcome to our lodging in Cabo Polonio. Here’s a bed. Another bed. I choose this one, love. You stay in the other one. No, but we both sleep in the same one, right? Just kidding, idiot. Well, it’s small, but it’s very good, it has everything. Look, for making the fire, for cooking. We have the oven. Look, as you can see, there’s no sink because there’s no water. Well, there is a sink, but there’s no faucet. Faucet, well, there’s everything. Look. There are pots for cooking. The lady told me I could have a barbecue in the fireplace, but I don’t see how… there’s no fridge either. Oh, well, no, because there’s no electricity. Of course there won’t be a fridge. No. And there’s no Wi-Fi? No, well, no, there’s no electricity, honey. What? I mean, there’s no electricity at all . Uh, look, there’s the bathroom. I know. I’m just kidding. There’s the bathroom. There’s a shower. Oh, look where the shower comes from. The water. Let’s see. Oh, so, you have to fill this. Look. Oh, look. You go downstairs, you fill it. Oh, look. You fill it and then you shower. Then you bring it back up and you have your shower. Wow, you can take a bath. What an ingenious idea! Oh, this is super cool. Yes, what a good idea. I’m going to do it at my house. There’s water. There’s water for the bathroom. You have to throw the toilet paper in the trash. In a little while, I’m going to record you taking a bath, love, so people can see more or less what it’s like. Just for that, you understand? Don’t think we all want to see your precious, majestic, beautiful little body. Stop flirting with me. And then, since there’s no water, you have to go to a well to collect water. Let’s go see this. Look, there it is. Wow. And then to collect water… This is full. Ah! A toad! Let’s see! A little toad. It scared me. Why did it scare me? A [ __ ] toad. Come here, little toad. Do you think this one will kill me? No, right? No, no, no. But well, leave it, love, leave it! So to collect the water. If you leave it like that, it won’t fill up. I think. The lady told me. Because, well, imagine, she doesn’t say, I’ve never collected water from a well. So it’s an ancient technique. You have to throw the container down like this. And then it fills up. Come on. Go on, go on, go on. Come on, because we shouldn’t waste water. You can fill it yourself; that’s for the bathroom or for washing dishes. Look at our little house from the outside with the chimney. Well, it’s very humble, quiet. And there are several houses you can rent, and there are also hostels. And that’s what the streets are like, all sand. Oh, look, there’s a fisherman over there. So, well, of course it’s not just for tourism. At first, it was people who lived here, people, well, fishermen who lived off fishing, but then it did become a bit famous and now it’s a tourist spot. There were only tourists on the bus with us just now. The lady told us that there are several wooden boxes where they throw away the trash. And they leave the trash here. Yes. So I suppose they come to collect it every few days. Yes. Ice, homemade bread, cold drinks, fruits, and vegetables. Oh, look, there are two beaches. South Beach and North Beach. Oh, well, let’s go to this store. Yes, you can buy everything. It looks good. Well, yes, it’s good. 130. To make a barbecue, what I need to make a barbecue. Do you have a lighter too? Yes, there is. One, please. Well, there’s beer, obviously. And yes, I’ll buy one? To have a good time. You’re there. Hey, hey, ding-a-ling. The old telephones . (speaks French) Huh? What about her? She looks Latina. Mexican. Ah, Mexican. Yes, she looks Latina. Yes. And you live here. I work here. Yes, I live here. Since you were very little? Many years ago. Yes. And what are those? Are they collector’s items? Yes, a collection. Now we’re going to put the crown there that was stolen from the Louvre. We’re going to put it here. You stole it. Stole it. With diamonds and everything, huh? Thank you very much, sir. Thank you. Bye. 130. The truth is that I paid all this, it wasn’t that expensive, I think. How much was it? 400. What? 410 for everything. Well, I hope you get the fire going. I don’t know if I’d dare say it’s cheaper than Montevideo. Oh, yeah, I have to get the fire going, I have to get the fire going. I don’t know if I’d dare say it’s cheaper to live here than in Montevideo. Look, the kid was coming with his bike and he threw it there. He left it. I’m going to steal it. Oh, that’s not true. It’s just that nobody steals here because there’s nobody around. I mean, everyone knows each other. So, if someone steals, if someone does something stupid, well, everyone finds out. Look, look, look, it’s coming for you, it’s coming for you. What a bad shot. You used to be a soccer player, didn’t you? But with all this, with the beer. The beer, that’s why. We’re getting to know the neighborhood here. We’ve seen several hostels. The houses are really beautiful. Really, what? Really beautiful, really pretty, really unusual, I don’t know if that’s the right word, different. And here we saw light poles. We thought there was no electricity, but now there’s enough to power the lighthouse, which is also there. Oh, yes. Separately The man there had his refrigerators, you see? That’s why your beer is so cold. That’s why the beer is cold. Old things. Yes. What would it be used for? My grandma had this when she had her store. She weighed things in it. Do you know how to use these, love? No. You don’t know? I mean, you put something in here, you know? And then you weighed it. So that means no. Oh, okay. Yes, there’s something, there’s something similar in France, but it wasn’t like this. We shouldn’t touch it, maybe they’re antique pieces. Yes, but how beautiful. I love those experiences and those places that are out of the ordinary. It’s incredible. Land ahoy! A slide. It’s not very slippery. A fishing boat. Look, love. Wow. Here it is. The real one is small, huh? Not many people can fit inside. Look, I’ll open it. It can be opened now, love… to see inside. Wow. Oh, here’s the motor, I was going to tell you, but there’s no steering wheel. What do you say? Directions, you know? I mean, you have to control it from here? Look, there’s something to control it. Oh, no, it’s up there, then. Right? Oh, I don’t know. But here’s a fisherman’s boat. Port La Polonia. La Paloma. What is it? Are they sea lions? This is the north beach. It’s a dead sea lion. Wow. It’s totally decomposing. And here are the vultures. Look at the vultures. They took out its eye. Oh, oh, oh. There’s another one. Yes, look, it’s another one. They’re leaving now, they’re leaving now. Look, vultures! Wow! But why…? This… this love, don’t look at it. Oh, no, don’t look at it. Look, here’s a head, there’s a bone. Look, look, they ate everything. They only left this. People don’t do anything, they just let them die there. Well, I don’t know… it’s kind of nature. Maybe there must be many. I wanted to go in, but it’s cold. We didn’t get any sunny days. I think today and tomorrow, the two days we’re staying, are the worst of the week. Look, it says surf lessons there. The woman at the hostel told us that one of the beaches, this one, is the one with the rougher waves. And the other one on the other side is calmer. So, people come here to surf. Look at this house. Well, it has a peculiar legend. They say a man has slept here for years because the woman kicked him out, and he has his bed here with the guide, Joris. I don’t know if it’s true, but look why there’s a bed outside. I thought you were going to say this place was cheaper than the one we got. Well, no, this belongs to the man who usually lives here, but he’s not going to rent you his bed. Where else is he going to sleep? Well, yes, this must be someone who lives here year-round because he has his car. You see, they’re the only people who can drive around here, I mean, with their own car. The people who live here. If you live here, you have to have a 4×4, otherwise there’s no tow truck to come get you. You see? This house has solar panels for energy and it also has a TV, an antenna for the TV. It must have internet too. Yes, that’s how people who don’t have access to electricity usually live, with solar panels. Oh, well, then at night maybe with candles too, like we’re going to have to light candles at night. Exactly. And I’m wondering, I don’t know if you know, but for example, look, this is a plot of land, can you just come and buy the land? Or… because it’s also a protected reserve since 2009. So, I don’t know the laws here in Cabo Polonio. We made a friend in Montevideo, Pablo, and he told us we had to try this, the seaweed fritters. So, let’s go. A fisherman’s hat, you know? Oh yeah, look, they make it with ropes, right? Put it on. Kind of like in Peru, you know? Yeah, but well, this is a fisherman’s thing. It’s really cool . Yeah. And it smells good. Smell it. This plant. You can pay by card here, huh? No, cash or MercadoPago or transfer if you have a bank. Cash is fine. Yeah. 650 permit. And are there places where you can pay by card here in Cabo? Yeah, you have to ask, but the stores do and some other places have it too. You can’t pay by card everywhere. You have to keep that in mind when you come. You have to bring cash. Yeah, cash. Well, luckily we have it. Yeah, IPA. It’s called IPA, strong Igoripa. I mean, if you drink it, 7% alcohol! If you drink it, you’re going to be really wasted like that guy or what? No I think the opposite. Do you want some? Yes, to try it. If you give me some, if you give me some. If not, then no. Cheers, my love . It’s good. Oh, yes, it’s good. It’s called Pizarra. They make very good craft beers here in Uruguay. The truth is, we’re really liking Uruguay. Cheers to the little country. We had saved them because we keep a banknote from each country as a souvenir, and now we have one. We had saved a 50-sol note, but it was blue, and this one just arrived. This one is prettier, isn’t it? I don’t know. This one is more… Yes, yes. It’s more typical. Look, it says Uruguay. And the other one didn’t say that, or what? I don’t know. Yes, I’m sure. I didn’t like the other one; I like this one better. Well, we’re going to keep this one. When we have our house, we’re going to put a table with all our banknotes and coins from different countries. So, they’re going to… when they get to the other beach, there’s a whole beach like this, and then, like, the cape, the little point, it all goes up with grass, and there are more houses there, and this house is somewhere between the beach and the rocks. Go to the rocks… near the lighthouse? Uh, no, no. I mean, further on. So, how long is the walk? More or less. An hour. An hour?! 10 minutes. It’s hard to describe things because it’s houses and more houses. It’s a space with spaces between things and houses, I mean, there’s no street. Enjoy. Thank you very much, friend. And have a good trip. Thanks. Okay, bye. Bye. Famous seaweed fritter. He also brought us, uh, Tabasco-type ground pepper. Let’s see, let’s try it on its own first. Mmm, I love it. Mmm. Now let’s try it with lemon. Mm. It’s very tasty. A little lemon. But it’s kind of vegan. It has a texture that I like. Yes, but there’s no meat, it’s seaweed with pasta, or, how do you say it? With dough, sorry, with dough. The guy who was here is Uruguayan, his name is Tatu. We started chatting and he told us that on the other side there’s another beach, the south beach, and that there are houses there, but they belong to people who own them and don’t rent them out. But, for example, he built a house, he’s an architect, and he told us to go see the house he built. Then he told us which one it was, and it was like a game, he literally said, “Here’s the picture, go find it.” And what Tatu also told us is that you can’t buy land here. The only luck you might have is if someone here wants to sell their house and you can buy it and remodel it. And then what he also explained to us is that this part, the southern zone, is more exclusive, more private, and look, you can see it’s more… the houses aren’t so rustic, they’re more modern, prettier, bigger too. Did you see, love? Look at all this. I think it’s over there. Let’s see. It started raining on us, but here we are still discovering this place. Oh, how incredible this is. Ah, no, it’s this one, it’s this one, over there. Ah, no, there it is. I see it now. I’m sure now that it’s this one with the little roof and the sculpture over there. I saw it. Look at that one. You can paint your house any color. It’s this house. There’s a sculpture on top, and this is… Wow. We’re in the luxurious houses of Cabo Polonio, love. This is the one he built. It’s like Santorini, you see? Like a town house, too, what we saw, Blanca. So there are also very rich people who come to have houses built here in Cabo Polonio. Look. Wow, what a beautiful house. Cabo Polonio is very beautiful. Uruguay is very beautiful. Wow. We were saying that we loved this house. Yes, it’s lovely. It’s our favorite here. Oh, how beautiful. Yes, yes, we just went. Yes, we already went. Yes, we already found it there. And yes, it has electricity and Wi-Fi. Oh, yes, it has Starlink, right? Starlink. Wow. Ah, this is luxurious. Look, to heat up, to warm you up a bit. Yes, this is set up so you can come in winter too. Air-conditioned, and so there’s electricity too. Yes. How so? I mean, we saw light poles, but… no, but no, here it’s with a generator. Ah, okay. So there are solar panels on the roof. I love it. And how much does this house cost? Do you think so? You don’t know? But a lot, a lot. I think $300 per night. Ah, okay, you’re talking about the price per night, but I’m talking about if I come tomorrow and want to buy it. No, no, you can’t buy it. No, it’s available. And if the owner sells it? He’s not going to sell it! He can sell it to you for… he’s not going to sell it to you, and if he does, I don’t know, 700,000 dollars. 800, 900, a million, it also depends on their mood at the time because, I mean, these are people who have had it at home for a very, very long time, and some sell maybe because they need it for their family or something, but otherwise, people don’t… they don’t sell it. Well, we have this inside. Today we’re going to have a barbecue. And where do you get meat here? Do you buy it there at the supermarket? We brought it from La Paloma. We were in La Paloma. Yes, we bought it before arriving because we didn’t know if there would be meat here. You were right, you were right to buy it beforehand. Is there meat here or not? No, no, no. It’s always better to buy it already cooked. No, it’s not worth buying meat here just because. Fish. Fish here. A grilled fish can be good for them to eat, maybe you can get more. Well, that’s good. We already bought meat. We bought a strip. That’s what it’s called. A strip. Yes. Short ribs. Short ribs. We’re going to do this today. And how much did you pay per night? 40 or… 44 or something like that, but less than $50 a night. Really good. It was the cheapest thing around here. And in high season, this is one of the most expensive places in the world. Yes. I mean, the most expensive square meter in the world, because the houses are so small. The ratio, I don’t know how to say it in French. Yes, ratio, it’s the same . The ratio of square meters versus the budget is extremely high because everything is so tiny. Well, today I’m inviting you to a Uruguayan barbecue. If you want to come to my house, with that accent I’m not going! It sounds weird: Uruguayan barbecue . But the gentleman told him for two people, I didn’t think we were going to have guests. Our friend Tatú is going to teach us how to make mate. Yes, Uruguayan mate. Let’s see, actually, Uruguayan mate shouldn’t be with… Well, yes, it should be from a gourd mate, right? Yes, but this is easier to clean, and because we drink mate every day, you have to clean the other one every day and wait for it to dry, because if it doesn’t dry well, it smells musty. You drink mate every day. But what time? Is there a specific time? In the morning. I sometimes drink it in the morning and in the afternoon, and sometimes it’s 9 at night and I’m still drinking mate. Seriously. Yes. Wow. But that wouldn’t allow me to sleep. Not me. That’s why I only drink it in the morning. If I drink it in the afternoon, I’m like this, I’m electric at night, I can’t sleep. And it doesn’t affect whether you sleep or not? No, no, no, no. And from what age did you start drinking mate? Since childhood? It seems like it’s a drug, you know? I’m just wondering. Yes. Like coffee, a child can’t, they don’t drink coffee. Well, it’s the same, when do you start drinking coffee? At 18, 19, 20, it’s common for kids to drink mate from a very young age because you’re always drinking mate, and your child wants to try what you’re drinking, so they end up drinking it too. Yes, well, it’s not rocket science. You put in a little bit of the herb, yes, I put in a little. Normally, you put in more. That’s our problem. We have to put in more. We have to put in more. Yes, what happens is that it swells up, it kind of puffs up because each herb fills with water. It’s like quinoa, like quinoa. Like rice. Yes. It absorbs and swells up a bit. So it seems like you put in too little, and then it’s full and you can’t drink it anymore. So, you put it there. You put it at a good angle, like a little mound, and on one side you pour cold water on it first, and then you wait because if you don’t do this, then when you swallow, if it hasn’t swelled up, well, everything goes through here and you swallow all the powder. Ah, that happened to us. Right, right. The trick is not to swallow any of the dust, just the water, because it’s not swollen. So you swallow all the dust. That’s describing what happened to us. Sometimes, to get the dust out, you put your hand on it and turn it over, shake it a little, turn it over again, and all that dust sticks to the palm of your hand. Ah, okay. So, you put the bombilla (straw) on the more hydrated side. Exactly. Because then you drink mate from that side, and when you say, ” Let’s turn it over because it’s washed out,” you put the bombilla on the other side. A lot of people turn it over four times. First, they take it out here and put it here. One, two, four. Then the mate can last a day, I mean, with the same yerba. Yes. And sometimes you keep drinking, you make more You take the morning and afternoon mate gourd again and see how it goes. Or you make a new one. And there you put it in here on this side, you put it all the way in through the tip and lift it up a little. Look. Ah. Ah, so you put it at the bottom and that way it doesn’t move, right? Ah, okay. Because ours was moving around like a cocktail straw. Right, no. This one stays there. Ah, okay. It stays firm. Because of this! And then there’s the little mound you make. You know how if you put too much of this in, it all ends up here and it’s a mess. Ah, okay. And there you have the little hole. Now we’re going to leave the first one for a while to inflate and there you wait. You don’t drink the first one, it goes down. It has to keep inflating. Going down. Ah, okay. This is a professional mate gourd. Yes, it’s an architect’s mate gourd. Quite a process. I can’t wait to try it. It makes you anxious. There are all sorts of customs, there’s a specific order to the round, whoever takes the first one, nobody can touch them. But there’s a sacred rule: you can’t just grab the mate gourd and pour one for yourself. It’s called “cebar.” “Cebar un mate.” It’s not “servir un mate.” Ah, that’s why the mate instructions said “cebar” and we didn’t know what it meant. It’s like pouring one. You can’t grab someone else’s mate gourd and start pouring because it’s wrong, it’s not done. The one who’s preparing it, the one who made it, and the owner of the mate gourd is the one who pours it for everyone. So you take one, then you pour it for someone else, and then you pour it for someone else again. Yes. Ah, okay. Yes. You’re always the one who uses the thermos. Mm. So, there’s like someone in charge. Exactly. How many mates does each Uruguayan have? No, I have one. This. Yes, just one. I have one. I have one that belonged to my father that I keep, and I have it stored away. Okay. But I don’t use it. But I have my mate gourd at home. There are two mate gourds at home. He has his, but we always use ours when we go out. Oh, okay. One per person, I mean, it’s like when it’s worn out, you buy a new one. Maybe there are people who collect them and have 20 and they like having different colors because, after all, it’s something you always carry with you. Try it, you, you, you. Me? Yes. Okay. Do me the honor. The water’s nice and warm . It’s super delicious. Yes. Ours doesn’t taste like that. I’m glad you liked it, because generally it’s the first impressions and that’s when you have to drink until it makes a little noise. Okay. Look. No, but did you feel it? When you feel air coming out? No, you can’t give it back if you don’t finish it. I loved it. Honey, you’re going to really like this one , it tastes very different. Yes. Or maybe it’s the herb, I don’t know. No, it’s the method. Yes, yes. I think it’s the way they made it. Yes, but yes, obviously, obviously the herb changes a lot too. I saw they had flavored ones too, like with ginger, orange, things like that, you know? And they sell them like that, friends. We got to the apartment and it was already night at the little house, and we lit the candles, and I told Joris I didn’t remember what a house with candles was like, without electricity, and I love it. Oh, we’re going to be nice and warm with that. Yeah. Cabo Polonio is usually famous here because you can see the starry sky so beautifully because there’s no light pollution, you know? It’s like people here don’t have electricity, so you’re only going to see the stars, you’re not going to see anything lit up, but since today is a cloudy day, you can’t see any stars. Well, the chef has finished cooking. Wait, wait. Well, let’s see how my first Uruguayan barbecue is, my love. Let’s see, I made it with love. It looks delicious. Just look at it. Wow, wow, and wow, and this costs a fortune in a restaurant. And here my boyfriend makes it for me. Mmm. Mmm, with avocado. Potatoes, my love. It’s our first candlelit dinner. With candles. Look, first you’re going to eat this and then if you want more, you can have some. Okay. Let’s see how it turns out. There’s a lot of fat, but there are parts… What do you think? I think it’s good for a first Uruguayan barbecue. I don’t know. You tell me, tell us in the comments. I don’t know, love, but they’re not trying it. Yes, but it looks, doesn’t it? It’s really good. You tell me, love. Let’s see. My love, I made it with love for you. Thank you, my love. Mmm, so delicious, so delicious, so delicious. With a little fat. Well. Mm, delicious. How much out of 10? 10, my love. Better than at the port market. No, no, it’s just that you were missing spices and stuff… and we don’t have any. Yes, it’s just that here it’s an alternative life like The old-fashioned way. But it’s really, really good. With firewood, salt, and that’s it. Let me eat. Enjoy. I just woke up. It was raining all night, and part of the morning is all gray here. I slept really well, not a sound, and I like waking up to this peace. Look, there’s water that got into our little house. Look, here’s Angelica sleeping. We shouldn’t wake her. I really feel great. I slept like a baby, I got up, didn’t even touch my phone, and started enjoying the little things in life: making myself some mate, watching my girlfriend sleep, something that gets lost in our world, in the other side of the connected world. It really feels good to disconnect sometimes. I feel great today with this mate. I made it really well, just like they taught me. Look, it turned out perfect, I think. Cheers. And that ‘s something I’ve learned from Uruguayans, that’s just how they are. I feel like people are very relaxed, very calm, enjoying the little things in life. That’s very, very inspiring. Good morning, my love. Hello, good morning. Mmm, tea. There’s no more water. Let’s go get some water. Let’s go then. Come on, love. Come on, come on. It’s raining a lot. Let’s get in the water. I’m going to take a shower for you, friends, to live the Cabo Polonio experience. Yes, 100%. I gave Joris the option of changing the water there for some slightly warmer water, which I could heat on the stove, and he said no, that he wants the complete Cabo Polonio experience. So please everyone give Joris a round of applause. Don’t look anymore. Goodbye. Come on, you son of a… Oh. Well, it’s okay, it’s not that cold. Friends, I took a shower in Cabo Polonio in this cold. Please subscribe to the channel. Thank you. We were ready to leave, but the rain came again . What should we do? Oh, oh, oh. How can we, uh, I don’t know, pass the time with something simple? I mean, do you already miss… socializing? Your cell phone? No, not really, I’m fine. Being disconnected is good for you. We can do this. Look, wait for music. Oh, play cards. Yes, we can. I’m usually the official winner of this game, but Joris always says I’m lying, so today we’ll see. Wow, look at this insect. Would you eat that? It’s an alien, well, I don’t know. Alien. Friends, we decided to go out anyway so we could show you what Cabo Polonio is like even in the rain. And here we are with raincoats, umbrellas, and flip-flops. Flip-flops so we don’t get our sneakers wet, because when it rains, look, it’s like a river in the street. The last woman, Charrua. I don’t know what she’s made of. It’s the name of the indigenous people who lived here. Oh, really? Name of the indigenous people of Cabo Polonio. Yes. The last woman, a charro. Oh, from Uruguay. Oh, okay. From Uruguay. It’s called Cabo Polonio here because they say a boat sank here in the 17th century, I don’t know which one. And the boat was called Polonio, that’s why it was called Cabo Polonio, I think. That’s what I read online. It has red legs. I think it’s dangerous. Let’s see, touch it. No, no, you’re not supposed to touch it. Darwin’s frog, I think it’s one of the protected species here at the cape. Really? Yes, we read about it. There was a sign there when we came in. Yes, I read that they did it in 1909 because there were many shipwrecks on the coast. Well, let’s see if we can climb it. Cabo Polonio, National Navy. Well, we can’t climb it. We can’t? No, because it’s slippery. Oh, because of the rain. It’s dangerous. Look, love. Oh, and now we’re going to arrive. This is the sea lion colony. Look, where we’re going to see the sea lions. We have to be careful. 20 meters from them. No fishing, no playing music, no animals, no littering. Okay, let’s go. 20 meters away. There are a lot of them. Wow. That’s a sea lion, isn’t it? Yes, yes, yes. He’s the owner. He’s the boss. Well, we have to respect him because it’s his home. Yes. Wow. Look, it’s said to be the largest sea lion colony in all of Latin America. Yes. The noise they make. Yes. And a few years ago, well, a long time ago, they fished for them, I mean, they killed them, they hunted them to sell their skin and oil, but now you can’t anymore. Now they’re protected. I don’t know if they ate them. This one’s really thick. There’s the boss. He’s really fat. Yes, I think he’s the boss of the colony. This is the boss. Look, this is a sea lion because he’s fatter. I’d like to know about their quality of life. of a sea lion and a fur seal. How long do they live? How long can they live? Yes, friends, it’s our last day in Cabo Polonio. We’re leaving in 30 minutes, but we woke up and it was a wonderful day. And look how radiant the lighthouse looks in the sunlight and the clear sky . Now we’re going up. Now we saw that there are people up there and we said, “Let’s go!” Look at this. These are really strange. Watch out. These birds tried to attack Joris last time. Look, look, look, look, look. They want to attack me because there are babies. There’s a baby. Oh, yes, look, it’s hiding, hiding. There it is. Oh, how cute. It’s hiding. So cute. They’re thinking we want to steal the babies or something. Yes. Oh, it’s tough, isn’t it? We did it! Incredible. This is the south beach. This is the sea lion colony. Look, there aren’t as many as yesterday. Look, there are many here, but there are. Yes, there is the sea lion colony. And over there is the north beach. The north beach. And this is Cabo Polonio, the town. They say there are about 200 permanent residents. It’s very small. And here’s the Centenario Stadium of Uruguay in Cabo Polonio. It’s really cool. Look at it like this: the north and the south, right? And that’s all the inhabitants of Cabo Polonio. That’s it. Very small. How beautiful. Geese. Look, the hen is doing something in the sand to keep it cool. Oh, hen, don’t worry, I didn’t mean to bother you. How nice to have your little plot of land like this with chickens, ducks, geese, dogs, cats. They’re all peacefully in the shade. It’s a town of fishermen and artisans. Life is so simple, it’s wonderful. Sea lions. Yes, I make them. Oh, really? What do you make them with? It’s clay. It’s wood-fired clay. It’s 900 grams. I make them. I have an army of them behind my house. I sell them cheap. How much do you sell them for? I sell them for 200 pesos each. The lighthouses too, and the island is 300. Ah. Ah. Look. And this one is made of the little shells. I have more. It’s super cute. Look. Normally this must be open when there are a lot of people. Yes. And we weren’t lucky with the weather, but it was a very good experience and well, we would have liked days like this, but yes, it doesn’t matter. And very good because it wasn’t that expensive. Yes, the accommodation was expensive, but not as much as it would have been in summer, maybe, yes, and well, we were able to experience Cabo Polonio to the fullest. They say this is a bowling alley, but I told Joris that, in my opinion, a bowling alley is where the cones are, you throw the ball and you have to knock them down. Bowling. But for me, I think they call a nightclub a bowling alley, maybe that makes more sense, because I say, how can they have a bowling alley in here? So, let us know in the comments what a bowling alley is here in Uruguay. Thanks for watching the video, friends. As you saw, this experience isn’t for everyone. If you don’t like luxury, etc., right? If you do like luxury, well, maybe it’s there, but it’s more expensive. Yes. And we enjoyed it a lot. And something I want to emphasize is that we shouldn’t lose our sense of wonder, my love, as travelers—those who also travel will understand. Don’t lose your sense of awe, because Cabo Polonio truly amazed us in a way that made us say, “Wow, how beautiful, really.” Because we’ve never seen anything so different and spectacular. Subscribe to the channel. Bye, bye.

Excelente video chicos, siempre bienvenidos🇺🇾❤️
Pd. Bien por ese ultimo mate
Me encantó el video! Uruguay es hermoso ! Gracias por mostrar la belleza que tenemos!
El mate debajo del brazo! Me encanta Ustedes si entendieron chicos! 👏🏻🙌🏻
