Buchach: The Lost Jewish City of Gold
[Music] Welcome to Vuich, the city in western Ukraine. I’m visiting my mom and my sister here and I would like to ask you to join me to see how the city looks. I’m walking towards downtown to see a dentist. I have a little bit of issue. I’m trying to replace the bridge and I decided to take you with me. Guys, don’t forget to subscribe, like it, and share it. And here is the view from the street downtown ahead of us. Right behind us, it used to be a military driving school. right now just a little driving school and some apartments. The trees were very little when I was there 35 years ago. And here I came to the road which takes you to Chief. And this way will take us to the crossroads. The crossroads Topilan caves and Chief. [Music] Here I am by the monument of Jesus. And if you see those photos behind me, there are fallen soldiers that gave up their lives for the freedom in a current war with Russian aggression. I love but the statue of Jesus. [Music] And here are the heroes that sacrificed their lives for the freedom and from Russian occupation. [Music] Just around here we will be walking and checking that apple tree here with a lot of apples on the tree and no kids would take them. When I was a kid here, the apples would not even got ripe because we would eat them a green still in a very little thing. But now kids don’t care about any free fruits on the trees. I’m walking towards downtown. This bridge used to call black bridge. It was built during AustroHungarian Empire. This city used to belong to AustroHungarian Empire a while ago. And this river was huge. Not super huge, but about three times bigger. See one shore. Another shore. On the other side of the river, there’s a little chapel. During the winter holidays, people come here to bless water. [Music] It was built just probably 15, 20 years ago because when I visited about 10 years ago, the chapel wasn’t there yet. As we walk alone here, see Mr. Doggy on the right side, left side, and the right side is a big supermarket. [Music] It’s like Walmart in North America. But this is Ukrainian brand supermarket. In front of the supermarket, there are a few people selling things. It’s like fruit market, flower market. I don’t know what to tell. Here we have some coffee shops and repair shops, phone shops. Again, another view at the supermarket called ATV. This building used to be a fire station. I just look at it and I see, wow, where’s the fire station? That empty building is there there. Now, building material store, large one. And look at the colors of leaves here. Beautiful colors. It’s a middle of October right now. And this is the best time to visit. Not too hot, not too cold. A little bit cloudy, but it’s all right. The library and a sports school at the bottom at the basement here as we go. It used to be and still current. They have a library here as the sign says plus uh something with computers and internet also. Right behind the building we have a beautiful church which was closed for many many years during Soviet occupation and they found a lot of that people over 100 corpses kids men that died from KGB hands. They were Ukrainian trying to fight for Ukraine. The church was reopened just in late ‘9s. The post office on the right side and the building with different things on the left side that different services hair styling and shoe repair, clothes repair, electronics repair and many stores upstairs. [Music] Here I’m coming up to this building on the right side. It used to be a city cinema. Now something else is there. Some volunteer job. Something else in front of this building in the middle. It used to be a lady, a sport lady, whatsoever. They call it Tanya. She’s not there anymore. Probably was a communist thing. I have no idea here. people doing something that you’re planting trees I guess or I don’t know digging many drugstores in the city as you can seeka means the drugstore another cross here drugstore I’m in downtown right now but the dentist when they have to go I have to turn left here but with the camera I want to show you the plaza here. Now I’m behind the plaza is behind those buildings walking towards my dental office. Not my dental office, my s sister’s dental, but he volunteered to see me. We’ll see what’s going to happen. [Music] Well, we have another appointment with the dentist. and he’s going to fix my bridge. That’s a good news. And I’m looking at the music school there. Yellow building. And behind yellow building, it’s a high school. See how many birds and those wires over there. Beautiful colors. Look at the colors. Yellow, red, green, different colors of green. And the river down there. I enjoy it so much. Some apartment buildings you see far far away the church. But this is the monastery. And this square building is a city hall. And the river is quite wider here. [Music] Let’s go. We see a little bit up here around different corner. And check out this area, a bank, head store. And you see a big long building. It’s a famous rug shop. [Music] I’m right on the bridge walking up to the police station to see have a quick peek to the monastery how it looks like from this angle. Straight down there used to be a swimming pool. I’m not sure if it exists or not. on the other side hand the road to school. [Music] That’s the police station. And up there on the hill, it’s a big men’s monastery, Catholic church. Coming back across the bridge, I’m checking the waters here. And the beauty. Nice bushes, beautiful trees. Here we have Polish church. It was closed for many many years. Also reopened in late ’90s. It was almost ruined to the ground. People restored it and looks very nice. Now this is the view from the steps. [Music] Going back to the city, we have Suchenko monument [Music] behind old city hall called Ratusha. I’m not sure what language it is, but we called it Rata. I’m going to walk up few steps, show you around from a different perspective. I’m upstairs this side. It used to be an store. Now it’s a different store. up on the road. It was a restaurant and a big store. Now we see how many times I’m trying to concentrate on this. This is the very unique cultural architectural historical building here and Tarasenko behind that building. [Music] I’m filming this just to remember for myself and share for the people who left the city a while ago. I wanted to see it how it looks in 2025. Another drugstore used to be a restaurant. Behind those trees, there was an entrance to the market. [Music] Let’s go to the park and walk in the park and check out how it looks from a different site. Um, between the buildings, the city hall and an apartment building walking towards the river. Check out those flowers. Nice and beautiful. [Music] Fallen leaves, different colors. Some still on the trees. There’s a fountain. Probably working sometime. There is an old carousel there. Probably not working for ages, but I remember when I was a little there, they looked huge to me. But now it’s so tiny. Across the road from the carousel, those buildings used to be a nice bar with those blue doors. closed, not working anymore. Mobile phone and other things. Let’s go walk in the park. Further up, performance place, the stage, and many events here. People playing music, dancing, singing, doing all you can see. And I’ll show you something behind there, but inside the building. I’ll show you another architectural beautiful building that it was Ukrainian cultural center here. Here is the building. You see, beautiful and nice across the road from elementary school garden here and orchard. When we were in elementary school, the teachers were teaching us how the fruit grows and how to plant different vegetables and learn how they grow. I don’t see any garden anymore, but it used to be. Now I’m closer to the building here. And on the right side here, the white window in the brown basement, we used to learn and play music. It was our studio. Our Benz [Music] family of Rabinoski have the main musicians of the band and I had opportunity couple of years joining them and enjoying the music. Right behind there, there’s a technical school or school of trade. Not sure if it’s still open. Maybe it is, but I don’t see a lot of students walking down. And we going up to the walking bridge. Used to be a lot smaller. Now is a big bridge. Look at those colors again. And I’ll turn the camera the other way. A look at the trees and colors. Very pretty. [Music] Wow. [Music] This is bush called Kalina. I’m just walking by the river here [Music] and I saw this beautiful blue bush and decided to take another shot from far away from that building of the trade school and the walking bridge of course the river and I’ll walk back on that alley going towards the home. [Music] I was quite surprised to see those buildings with those big fences because this area used to be flooded every year. But since the river became very little, probably it’s not flooded anymore. See, one side is for bicycles, one for the pedestrians, and it’s completely showing what’s this. What I was surprised to see on the river, wild ducks and some people collecting the vegetables from their gardens here. [Music] And I come close to the river again. It’s difficult to see through the camera window, but I saw the ducks there and some birds flying. This road takes you to the big supermarket ATB. And I show you the valley goes all the way back. I saw some kids running in the back there. Maybe they had some physical activities. And this fallen tree looks pretty across the river. And some wild ducks there as well. [Music] Check this out. Pretty up on the hill by the power lines there is a dormatory of the technical college. Again enjoy the views of the different color trees. Here [Music] I come again. I see a mommy with the baby strolling around. Baby sleeping. Very nice. And here I am. I’m trying to say guys, thanks for joining. All the best. Thanks for watching, subscribing, liking, sharing. And I’ll see you again from Butcher Top Ukraine. Slava.

I would get rid of music and just have original soundtrack behind the dubbed voice, it's quite distracting
