Number one, it’s popular sport. The most popular sport in Barus is definitely football or soccer as it’s known in many parts of the world. There are many football clubs and the national team has qualified for the World Cup finals twice. Number two, the climate. Despite being located in Eastern Europe, Bellarus actually has a temperate continental climate rather than the colder climate you might expect at that latitude. Summers can be hot and humid while winters are cold and snowy. Number three, largest city. The largest city in Barus is the capital city of Minsk. It has a population of around 2 million people. Number four, national sport. While football is the most popular sport in Bellarus, the national sport is bandandy. Bellarus has one UNESCO World Heritage site, the historic center of the city of Krakow. It was added to the list in 1998 and is famous for its medieval architecture and wellpreserved old town. Number six, religion. According to a survey conducted in 2014, approximately 83.4% of Bellarusians consider themselves to be atheists while 10% adhere to the Bellarian Orthodox Church. Other Christian denominations such as Catholicism and Protestantism are also present in the country as well as some followers of other religions like Islam and Judaism. The official language of Bellarus is Bellarusian, but Russian is also widely spoken and understood throughout the country. The majority of the population of Bellarus belongs to the Bellarusian ethnic group, accounting for around 83% of the total population.
