Although it has faced challenges due to recent geopolitical tensions, Moscow’s public transportation system is extensive and efficient, and its subway stations are world famous for their artistic architecture and wide coverage. The Kremlin Palace, located in central Moscow, is a symbol of Russia and serves as the official residence of the president. It is often ranked among the world’s most beautiful historic sites. Another iconic site is the Red Square, covering about 90,000 square meters, surrounded by magnificent and historically significant buildings. It is the venue for many major national and cultural events. Within Red Square stands the worldrenowned St. Basil’s Cathedral with its colorful onion-shaped domes, one of the most famous architectural masterpieces in Russia. Walking through the streets of Moscow, one is often struck by the city’s elegance and the confidence of its people. As evening falls, Moscow transforms into a hub of entertainment and energy. St. Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Located in northwestern Russia, it covers about 1,439 km and has a population of over 6 million. Some even say that St. Petersburg rivals Moscow in charm and cultural appeal. Its geographic location gives it a strong connection to Europe and it’s often called the cultural capital of Russia. The city’s architecture reflects its rich history from the Russian Empire to the Soviet era. The city is adorned with grand architectural landmarks such as the Winter Palace, Hermitage Museum, and Kazan Cathedral which stand as symbols of Russian art and history. St. Petersburg is the only city in Russia included as a whole in the UNESCO World Heritage list. One of the city’s great advantages is its access to the sea, the Baltic Sea, which has greatly influenced its economy and culture. The Neva River flows through the city and divides it into several islands connected by beautiful bridges, earning St. Petersburg the nickname the Venice of the North. It has 42 islands, 55 canals, and nearly 500 bridges. Adding to its romantic charm, the Trans Siberian Railway is another marvel of Russia. Stretching about 9,289 km from Moscow to Vladivvastto, it is one of the longest railway lines in the world. It plays a crucial role in connecting different regions of Russia and contributes significantly to the country’s trade and economy. Traveling along this railway offers a breathtaking view of Russia’s diverse landscapes, an experience many describe as unforgettable. In the Chukshi Peninsula of northeastern Russia, certain ancient customs of hospitality still survive in folklore, though they are no longer practiced in modern times. Historically, these customs symbolize generosity and community spirit among isolated Arctic tribes, emphasizing respect for guests and the sharing of happiness within the community.
