BAILEY ADAMO XL DL TOUR Begins | First Impressions

So, we’re leaving Southport Caravan Club. So, welcome to this video or this series of videos. We’re borrowing a Bailey Adamo XL DL, which is the biggest of the Adamos for a couple of weeks. Yep. I’m going to see how we get on with it. [Music] We’ve had our first night. We just stayed at Southwalk. um caravan and motor home and club site. Uh had a good night. It was uh bed was comfortable once we figured out how it works and where all the pillows go. Yeah, we didn’t think it was going to come down all the way, did we? But luckily it did. That’s the rear bed. The front bed doesn’t anyway, does it? Stops halfway. Yeah. So, no. I mean, the girls love the fact we got two lounges. So yeah, they were really happy just sitting on our pillows, weren’t they? That’s right. Yeah. So what we where we’re off to now is we’re off to Ingweight Hall for one night. Yeah. Which is up in the England Scotland border. And uh then we’re going to show you around the van, aren’t we? When we get there. We just needed the first night, you know, to sort of settle in, find where to put things, and figure out how things work. Work. That’s right. Yeah. So, I think we’ve done that. Um, we’ve got first problem we’ve got is we’ve got a little problem with one of the cupboards. I think someone’s been opening too many cupboards at the NEC. Yes, I think one of the hinges isn’t quite right, is it? It isn’t screwed in and uh it needs fixing. So, uh that was the first thing we found. We are going to tell you what goes wrong in this. We’re not going to hide anything. And we’re going to tell you what goes right with it as well. Oh, yeah. what we like about it, what we don’t like about it, and what goes wrong. Yeah. I mean, it very comfortable last night. Anyway, we’ll tell you more when we get to Ang White Hall. All right. So, we’ll catch you later. Take exit 42 on the left toward A6. Then enter the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the fourth exit B6263. Carlile Southern link road [Music] in 1 and 3/4 miles. Turn right onto the road. Turn right onto the road. [Music] in 2 and 1/2 miles. Arrive running hall on the right. It’s a new one. Just think this road is a test of any vehicle suspension along here. Not too bad in in the uh in the Ford chassis. It’s quite softly sprung. Yeah, I’ve got a few rattles, but I think it’s mainly outpacking. Pots and pans are rattling. And these blinds rattle a bit, don’t they? They do. Yeah. Here we are again. Arriving at Ingleth Hall on the right. Engleway Hall. This is where we normally come for Halloween, isn’t it? Yeah. Quite a steep entrance here. Just check we don’t scrape anything. Yeah. You normally uh put your thingy up, don’t you? Yeah, I’ve got air suspension on this, but it seems all right. I think it’s a bit higher anyway, so [Music] we might be able to go on our favorite pitch. Yeah. Yeah. I couldn’t really see, but £24 a night this is. Is it? Yep. No charge for dogs, but there’s no facilities, are there? So, no. Got their brake on still. No, I’m in park. I’m still getting used to the uh the cab in here. It’s got this rotary dial thing that uh makes it interesting sometimes. Always reaching for the gear lever and I go and see if we can get pitch we normally like and if not we’ll come back down here. The mobile signal is never very good down here is it? That’s no part of the disappointment down here. Yeah. Well, it’s part of its attraction as well for some people. She said the grass is very wet. Not surprised. These service pitches up here, aren’t they? Yeah. These must be seasonal. These purple ones, aren’t they? Yeah. We do water here or you can do if you want. I’m going to come back. We do water here. You beeping at close. Oh, see it’s telling me I’m a bit close. Not seen that before. No, it’s got radar on the front of it, you see. So, oh, has it? Oh, yeah. Well, it’s it’s got the um uh adaptive cruise control. Okay. And it must pick up objects in front of you as well. Right. Right. I’m going to see how far away I am from the um emptying thing. Emptying thing. A little water in there. Not all hours. [Applause] I think our tank must have been full there. Still says 12% on it, but then I think every blooming waste tank I’ve ever had is unreliable indicators. Always say you’ve got more than you’ve got, if you know what I mean. Yeah. Or less than you have. Does it normally appear? It does, doesn’t it? Yeah. Right. I think this display is absolutely brilliant. The rear rear camera, it only comes on when you reverse it unfortunately. So, but gives you get yourself right between the two pegs. Yeah. Okay. [Applause] Well, Incasway Hall sign says this way. The other side says that way. Come on. Oh dear. Come on. Come on. In trouble. Come on. That way. Love coming here. They got the lights on as well. Yeah, there we go. Guarantee they got the lights on for you. That was me after 4 hours of packing. Yeah, it was a lot, wasn’t it? You want to go first? Yeah. Swapping vans over. We haven’t put everything in from our van into uh the Bailey, but uh we have moved an awful lot of stuff and it’s figuring out what what you need to take and what you don’t need to take. Beautiful, isn’t it? Absolutely beautiful. All the autumn colors, all the leaves here. Yeah, it’s a dog walk, Poppy. The dog area. But uh we need a coffee though, Poppy. Come on. Let’s go and get a coffee. Come on. Oh, come on. tea. You need some more water, obviously. Come on. Tara needs a drink. We’ve had this one. Yeah. Right by the water point. Yeah. And uh the toilet and everything. Toilet emptying and drinking water and waste water. Get mobile up here, don’t you? As well. Yeah. You get a bit of a mobile signal here. Okay. Come on then. I remember I set the clock. Do you there? Set it. You have to hold the enter key. What time did you say? It was 1500 or something. It was 1501 when 15. Enter. Well, that lets you go around. That other one wouldn’t. No. 15. Right. So, what I came in in here to do was to fill the tank. Oh, you got to switch the pump on, haven’t you? There we are. Pump on. Remember how to use these? Settings. Fill tank. Enter. That’s it. It’s filling the tank. Yeah, there we go. So, I’ve got a whale aquasource pump pumping out of out of an aquar. We are. And you can control the filling inside, but it’s not like a caravan. It won’t take water on demand just when you tell it to fill the tank. There we go. 33 34 suddenly speeds up. So, I’m off. Still a fair bit in there. Yeah, it looks like there is an overflow in this tank, but the measurement said 80 81%. So, there we go. Bailey Adamo XLD DL is a five birth with five travel seats. has the Ford cab, 165 brake horsepower engine, the Ford Transit skeletal chassis, 8-speed automatic, and it’s drivable on a category C1 license. It has a 200 W Truma solar panel and 105 amp battery. It has thermal insulation grade 3. There’s a six-year body shell warranty which can be extended up to 10 years and it’s on the road price is 84,999. [Music] It uses the whale type connections uh for water filling so you can fill from an aqua roll. The garage is 70 cm wide. That’s or that’s two 2 foot 3 and 1/2 in or 1.04 m or 3’5 in tall. On the other side is the tall door and it’s got a magnetic catch here. All the garage is fully lined with carpet as you can see. This is where the table is stored and you’ve got 12vt and 240 volt in here as well. There’s a little shelf there and above that is where your wardrobe is and you can access that from the outside or from the inside. There’s a little shelf there that you can put up if you want some longer storage. The windows here uh look fairly flush, but they do protrude. They’re caravan type windows. You’ve got the Ford alloy wheels, nice black alloy wheels, toilet cassette here, and the toilet window there. A small awning light. And your electric point is at the front here. Access to the filler point means you have to open the door. Um Oh, hello Poppy. But there’s the filler cap with the add blue filler as well. But you do have to open the door to access that which can be a bit of a pain for the passenger. But there you go. Bit of security. [Music] Got some mirror guard mirror protectors on there. I think these are extras. And some headlamp protectors as well. Uh to access the bonnet, you need the key and it takes a little bit of getting used to, but you have to turn the key a second time to allow you to open bonnet. And I struggle a little bit here, I must admit. That’s that’s where the bonnet catch secures. You’ve got all that access to the uh oil filler, to the windscreen washer fluid, brake fluid, and uh and the rest of the engine. We’re covered in leaves at this time of the year, aren’t we? Its length is 8.043 or 26 ft, 5 in in Old Money. It’s 2.39 m wide or 7′ 10 in. Uh with the mirrors, it’s 2.74 m wide or 9 ft. Its height is 2.86 m or 9’5 and its MTPM. Its maximum weight is 4,250. Payload is 866 kg. 2 6 kg gas bottle locker. Yeah. So, here’s the front lounge. Poppy and Tara are taking up the best seats as usual. Obviously, we’ll cover the Ford cabin a bit more detail a little bit later. Uh, put our satnav in there. Uh, plenty of space up here. Things hardly use that space there. And you’ve got the L-shaped sofa which turns into a travel seat here. Obviously, we haven’t tried that yet. There’s another travel seat under here, isn’t there? There is. Yeah, that’s one of these fold up ones that we’re very familiar with, like the one we’ve used before. So, that’s where your five seats comes in. That Yeah. And underneath there is your consumer unit. Okay. And in the kitchen is the um this hinge here. It’s the usual sort of thing that the screws are have been screwed in too many times and the cupboard is moving about and it comes open. So I’ve had to sell tape it when I be going along. But hopefully we’ll get someone to fix that for us. cut drawer. It’s a little bit small that I think it’s not very deep either. No, not not very tall, you mean? Oh, deep or tall? Both. Both. And again, this is quite a narrow cupboard as well. Don’t go too far back. Managed to get our muggy in there. Some washing up liquid. We have to go back and get some bin bags cuz we forgot them. This is a huge cupboard which keeping pates in, aren’t we? And Yeah. And pans and tacimo cuz they don’t don’t fit in the other cupboard. No. Tasimo. It’s quite a good workspace. The the kitchen. You’ve got two plugs there and there. Lights and the standard Truma control there. And I think we’ve seen this before on Bainey. Just hold that out for us. Yeah. It’s got the glass as well. Yeah. Glass as well. So they got the with the electric hot plate. Three gas burner grill and oven. Of course, we haven’t haven’t used it yet. Be using it later on, but haven’t used it yet. Yeah. We realized a lot of the rattles were coming from the fact that still got a grill pan in there. Anyway, we’ll sort that out later. Like I say, this is first impressions. Okay, the look cupboard under here. We’ve we have used a lot of the space and we’ve got um a bits and pieces box in there. Can’t even think what’s in it now. So, it’s all the things that you normally put in a drawer, but there’s only one drawer, so put them in that box. So, you know, it’s bottle openers, vital things like that. Yeah. And the fridge. Just a compressor fridge, isn’t it? Yeah. These shelves are a bit narrow, aren’t they? Yeah. I noticed this before with some of the Thatford ones. And it’s not You can’t fit the milk in it, and you can’t fit a bottle of wine in it. I don’t You wouldn’t want to put anything too in there anyway. No, it’s probably just as well. You’ve got a little I call it a beer drawer, but we’ve actually got milk and eggs and potato and marmalade in there. The um the fridge goes quite a long way in being a compressor fridge. So, that bit of it’s quite deep. It is quite narrow across that way. That’s a salad drawer, isn’t it? Or somewhere. I don’t know. I didn’t put put those in there. Got salad cream in it, I suppose. Chips for later. wine for later. Yeah. So, it’s not a bad fridge, but it’s not the biggest you’ll ever see. And it is a compressor fridge. Noise. Did we hear it last night? No. No, I haven’t heard it making any noise. If you press this button, it tells you what it’s on. And there is a night mode there. So, it’s meant to make it quieter. But at least you don’t have to worry, do you, about gas when you’re not on hookup or you’re not traveling? No. Cuz it just And it seems to be pretty cold as well. It does. Washroom. Now, this is the thing that’s causes the most constonnation, I think. Um, there’s nowhere to hang coats, unless we’re missing something. So, we’re hanging coats in there, which makes it even more difficult to get in this little washroom. I mean, it is quite a small washroom. Hanging a towel in there. toilet. How do we get on with the toilet? There you are. It’s not my favorite. Let’s put it that way at the moment because it’s it’s high up because it’s a bit squashed in there. It’s difficult to put your foot on the the step bit. Yeah. So, uh it’s it’s challenging at the moment. I think if we could find somewhere for the coats, it would be less. But yeah, I we’re trying to be honest with you here. the the swivel doesn’t swivel. It doesn’t It’s hardly worth having a swivel in there because it doesn’t swivel. It bangs against the wall. Be better with a bench toilet. Yes. Yes, it probably would. It’s pointless really, isn’t it? Having it do that. And we haven’t tried a shower now. No, because we’re because we’re Angleway Hall. There’s no facility block here. So, we’re going to have to try the shower. So, we’ll let you know how we get on with that. M. There we go. I brought our telly here. Now, our telly’s got a sound bar on it. I put the sound bar and the telly in there, and I couldn’t get it to fit in there. It was banging against this bit of wood here. So, I’ve had to leave the sound bar at home. There you go. I’ve got the telly in there and a fire stick. And this is a mechanism. I don’t really want to move it, but it comes out here. In theory, you could watch it from in there. But we’ve done that before in the one with the island bed, didn’t we? We did that. Yeah. But I think it’s a bit long way away. I think it’ be a bit challenging. Yes. So, what we did last night, we got the laptop out and we put it on this shelf here where we’ve got all the all these pillows at the moment. Pillows. Now, pillows, I’ll come on to that in a minute. We got these fairly heavy hefty duvet pillows and they’re quite thick. But yeah, you got a big workspace here and we put the laptop on there. We watched Netflix on the laptop. That was quite nice in here. And I think I showed you from outside is the hanging space. There’s not a bad uh amount of hanging space, but that is it. That That’s your lot. I’ve got I’ve also got a power bank in there as well. I suppose they think you’re going to probably put coats in there, don’t they? But maybe maybe I mean coats were all wet so we couldn’t really. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to put wet wet coats in there next to jumpers and things. We we stop squeaking. We brought enough jumpers for uh a couple of weeks, haven’t we? So, yeah. Well, they were threatening snow, weren’t they? So yeah, it’s quite a useful cupboard up here. Um, got rammy cup and stuff like that and Poppy’s ball and uh some things for fixing things in there over here. That’s quite full, isn’t it? That that’s your everything else apart from apart from the tops. Yeah, tops and jeans. Actually, I managed to fold my coats, my big coat up and I put that in there. Oh, yeah. Cuz it’s a it’s a puffer coat, isn’t it? So, you got another coat in there, so it takes up a little less space. Curtains. I think these are just for decor. I mean, they they don’t they don’t mean, you know, for just an an extra inch in just a little bit. Could you I suppose you could just move that along, couldn’t you? Well, I don’t want to touch yet. No, it’s the same. Is it the same with this one? I think so. Oh, no. Oh, no. That one meets. That one meets in the middle. There’s a smaller window, that’s why. Yeah, that one doesn’t meet either. No. No, that doesn’t. So, I think they’re just meant to sort of cover up the Yeah, I mean, you’ve got all the uh the blind bits, haven’t you? They you can pull up. So, yeah, you don’t need them. Just seems a bit I don’t know. I think it is just sort of like an an edge. Quite quite pleasant looking. Yeah, we’re not sure what that’s for, but I think we’ll find out when uh we make up the bottom bed. But there’s just like a a shelf there. And the shelf has got the water tank underneath there. So, you can access the water tank there. But, uh yeah. Yeah, we will we will put up all the the beds in a separate one, won’t we? We we’ll have to try them, I suppose, won’t we? Yes. And I think this is something to do with the bed down here, but till we try it, I don’t know. Yeah, there’s a really useful cupboard under here. We’ve just put some shoes in there. I think we could probably put some other stuff in there, but blime me, that’s difficult to get to. [Laughter] It would be really nice if just put a door on that on that end or, you know, I don’t know. But, you know, you got to take all the cushions out to get to it. Under that sofa there is the heater unit. I could get all the cushions out, but you’ve seen a trim unit before. It’s nice and warm under there. It is. This table is ridiculous. It’s way too big. It I can’t even get If you get out that way, the trims come off the thing here. Look. Well, I bet because people have struggled to get past. Yeah, possibly. I caught it there. Yeah. No, I can’t get my leg past that. Sorry to No. See, look. Perhaps if I put it that way, will it go that way? Might go that way. Well, then how’s people there going to get in? I don’t know. No, they really need to rethink this. What was wrong with the uh table? I have no idea what was wrong with the electric table that that folded. Yeah, I’ll stick that back on in a minute. But yeah, I can just about just about get in from here. Can’t no can’t really get I don’t know. You might No, there’s a leg there. So, you won’t get there. So, two people could probably just about dine in here. But I’m feeling I’m I’m a little bit too far away from because this is stopping it. Oh, right. Cuz you’ve got the that there. So, that won’t go any further over that way. We’ll come this way. Yes. Poppy wants a tea. So, I suppose I could I could sit. Oh, no. No. No. Okay. If anyone’s got a XLDL, let us know how you get on. Is the table this massive? Really? Maybe we’ve got the wrong table. I don’t know. Yeah. Maybe this is because it’s a prototype. Yes, we’ve got the the first table. First ever giant table. Yeah. So, the drop down bed at the back here. We have slept in this one. And as you can see, we can keep our duvlets on there. I thought initially we couldn’t do it because the lights didn’t come on. So, you just got to be careful how you put those in there. There is a fair gap between the mattress and the ceiling. So, that’s quite handy that you can do that. Otherwise, we’d have those floating around as well as the pillows. That’s right. Yeah. Now, the the the bed comes down to uh just above these sofas. So, it’s about there. How did you find it? Well, I I struggled with it like that to get in. Yeah. So, we got the step out we normally have outside. And once I could I stood on that, then it was easy to get in. Get in. Yeah. We try tried the ladder, but the ladder moved and all that sort of thing. But no, I mean the only other thing about last night was the person on the inside is feels Yeah. You’ve got to wake your partner up to to get out. Yeah. Which is Yeah. So that’s a that’s a consideration if you are thinking about this layout. Um advantages of a twin bed of course is that you don’t wake your partner or theory you don’t wake your partner when you get out or an island bed for that because you get out your own side don’t you? That’s right. Yeah. But what’s the advantage of the the lounge here though? Well I thought this was absolutely brilliant last night. Yeah cuz like we said we we watched the laptop there, didn’t we? The dogs came in here whereas Poppy won’t normally come anywhere near the bedroom, will she? She stays up the front. Tara will, but no, we had both dogs in here last night, one in each corner, and we were able to relax and Yeah. No, it’s I can see why people like this, especially Yeah, you can put your put your feet up. Yeah, it’s long enough for that. These back cushions are comfortable. And if if you’re entertaining people, I should think. Um, you know, it’s Yeah. really comes into its own. Yeah. And you still got the area up the front where they’ve just double decided they’re up there now. Yeah. But uh No, it’s I think I think you can fit six round the front and probably another five six in here. Yeah. So 12 people can be in here with the kitchen in the middle for someone to be serving drinks and food. So first impressions then? Well, it’s a totally different layout to any layout we’ve ever experienced. So it it’s interesting from that point of view and I’ve so far quite enjoying it. Yeah. We’ve got me looking at that, haven’t you? Yeah. Nearly missed it again, didn’t we? I think we did miss it cuz you got me looking at that error message about the camera. Yeah.

  2. Hello Bob and Jenny, I like the layout of the van , but I can see what you mean about the toilet, it’s right up against the wall and it’s a bit awkward for your feet, can you call in at a Bailey dealers to get the locker door fixed , you don’t want it falling off when you’re travelling, thanks for sharing this video,👍👍🐾🐾.

  3. Wow! What a super game of Rummicub can be played on that huge table !
I like the lounge area , you can really relax in there . :0) Have a fabulous time in Scotland , we are looking forward to watching your videos .

  4. This van is clearly designed for a family, particularly with two lounges to enable adults and children to pursue their own interests. Looking forward to hear your thoughts as you continue your tour. 😃🚐👍🏻🩷 Trev

  5. Our local site! They have made good covers over the service areas. It's a nice site but difficult to walk far from there. The Carlisle link road will make a big difference. 03:32 never found that road to be that bad a surface. Our Air Assist makes a big difference. I guess it is not fitted to that model of the Ford.

  6. Love you two but much much much prefer your own motorhome than this one. I dont like the layout and with it might a huge motorhome you’re still having to make concessions with things like shower room and lack of drawers. However if it were a young family having it then it might work.
Your own van is so lovely so I bet you miss it and will be glad to get back in it ❤
    Enjoy Scotland ❤

  7. I like the motor home but that is one of the smallest showers I have seen. I think if they put a smaller washbasin on the wall in front of the loo then the shower would be a lot bigger. Looks very comfy though.

  8. Hi both very informative vlog nice van appart from the dodgey motor with the belt system that runs in oil that’s a time bomb so quite a lot of my mates who are heavy goods fitters say walk away they fit the same engine in smaller cars with smaller capacity engines 😳

  9. There are some aspects of the Bailey Adamo that are on the face of it quite good. Having two lounges is a real bonus but obviously the trade off is the small washroom. As you pointed out Bob a bench toilet would be preferable. I like the Ford Transit chassis cab, the ride is superior to the Fiat despite all the negativity with the wet cambelt. Regular oil & oil filter changes will keep the belt in better condition. I love going to Scotland in our motorhome so I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on and where you go and stay. Safe travels Jane Tim & Archie.
