I Went to Amman, Jordan, in 2025
Aman, Jordan. Dating back to over 7,500 years ago. This city is rich with history, hospitality. Hello. Hi. Good. Good. And chaos. But now we’re going to walk around the streets a little bit, see what’s going on. We came here not knowing what to expect, but what we found would change everything we knew about the Middle East. All right, Shukran. We’re going to go. This is Aman and what it’s really like in 2025. [Music] [Applause] All right, it is day two in Aman. We’re about to start our day. We’re all extremely tired from all the traveling, but going to go try and get some food. See what we got there. Yeah. Yeah, we’re hungry. Let’s go eat. All right. Want to get some breakfast. It’s so steep here. Oh my gosh. Okay. Habi, the place we recommended is across the street. Wow. I did not realize how cool of a area this is. Right below our hotel. I don’t know how we’re going to get over there. I think that’s what that is. I’m not sure. How is it? That was really good. Really? Then I need to eat mine. I’m going to eat mine in the car. But yeah, it looks awesome, man. Yeah. This is fire, man. What’s the filling at the bottom? It’s like um some sort of like vegetable thing, right? Yeah. Oh, on the bottom. Um but the dough is amazing. You can tell it’s super high quality. Yeah. I love it. You have my shoes. I just have I guess you have the Jordan pass. All right, we’re are in the citadel now. Awesome view of the city. I wonder how built up that was in ancient times. Like, you know, when the Romans were building here, was their city there or what? Yeah, it’s pretty big over here. There’s like the big church over there. But yeah, this is way bigger than I thought it would be. This is crazy. Here’s the hand thing about it. I know it’s somewhere over here. It looks like a spider. I think it’s on that side. That’s so cool. Look at the top of the city up here. You can see kind of everything. This is like a watchtowwer. Yeah, I can see like the archer holes in it. It’s crazy. Someone’s house is right there. Like you live, you know, 200 meters from an ancient site. This is one of the driest countries in the world. They hardly get any rainfall and they only get it like in the north and barely where we are. Look at their buildings. They have some good skyscrapers. It’s crazy how there’s nobody here. Have you guys noticed that? I’ve seen like maybe eight other tourists, I think, but no one’s here. So, it’s, you know, has a cool vibe to it. Wow. Look at this view down here. More ancient buildings. What? Here’s the Byzantine church. And there’s the huge flag. It’s wild. Wow. These are like really well preserved like rooms. You can really see into it. Feel like most other places like this have a bunch of rocks in it. You can obviously see the the rooms. This is crazy. I absolutely love these ancient like buildings and stuff like this. Shout out Dr. Bernie cuz he made me like all them. Appreciate all them when we were in Greece. It’s insane to think I’m like walking in an ancient house, you know? Like these are streets that people walked on. I don’t even know how many thousands of years ago, but a long time ago. Same street everyone did over there. Wow. Plant that has a bunch of spikes on it. See, this is like somebody’s room, bro. It’s crazy. Somebody lived in here. Wow. Look at this arch. That’s so cool. Wow. This goes like way in there, guys. Yeah, that like goes way in there. That would not surprise me if that’s a toilet. Yeah, I think that’s a toilet. Much better. Okay. So, according to this this um the Umaya Palace plan, this little room is like an entrance and then there’s the throne room. So, we’re going to go in the throne room. Is this it or is it this? It’s probably this right here. Throne room. Throne room. Okay, this is the throne room. Yeah, I know. It did have this textured pattern. You’re right. Yeah, this is the throne room. Go sit on the throne, Liam. Yeah, there’s literally a park down there. That’s cool. Look at all the honking. Wow. I think so. Such a crazy view. This girl down here told me that she loves me. She said she doesn’t speak English. I have a camera. All right. Bye. Bye. like or going in the mosque. Oh, wow. I mean, makes sense. They’ve redone that, but the original structure is still here. It’s crazy. Wow. I mean, not much going on in here right now. But yeah, it’s super cool. We’re at the sistern, the big water tank. It’s crazy. It’s actually huge. Did not know it was going to be this big. I mean, it makes sense, but wow, look at that. This is just a capture of water, you know, cuz it never rains here. Not even quite sure what this part is. There’s like a circle bit and a little path to this part. There’s a lizard, but then it goes in here. I wonder what this could be. Let’s see. Huh. I wonder if this is like a bathroom cuz this was the palace actually. And then the mosque is over there. Um, this is uh the Byzantine church right here, which is pretty cool repping the church. But I love the the Corinthian pillars right here. Just so perfect. Like it’s so cool to feel something that’s so old, you know? But yeah, this was the church. Okay, we finally found the hand. Look at that. That’s his fingers. Yeah, that’s really cool. Some other stuff part were part of it, too. How cool would it be to have that in your house? Like ancient Byzantine era. All right, we’re going to go check out the museum now. Wow, they got like fossil stuff here. Buffalo teeth at Al Azarak. Everyone’s in here cuz it’s AC Roman age stuff. Wow. Whoa. I love that stuff. Middle Bronze Age. That’s so old. They got like a Rosetta stone thing over here. Whoa. The Misha steel. That’s so cool. This kind of looks like all the Greek stuff I remember seeing. Got waves on it. That’s so cool. Yeah. I don’t know if I’ve seen a real skull of war. Okay. Well, there’s people up on the the temple, so I guess we’re going to go up here, too. That’d be pretty sick actually. I think, you know, I’ve been to other temples in Greece before, but this is my first time like being inside the temple because they usually don’t let you in. You know, they don’t let you in the Parthonon. They don’t let you in the one at Deli. We’re actually in the temple of I already forgot his name. Starts with an H. Hercules. Hercules. Yeah. First time in a Hercule temple. Kind of surprised they let you just walk up on this to be honest. Wow. Okay, so these uh these girls came up here. They were the ones that we saw down in the park. Aloan here. I asked if they like living in Jordan. They said they did. Are you guys happy? Yes. Okay. What makes you happy about living in Jordan? Who wants to answer? It’s beautiful. It’s because it’s very beautiful and has very beautiful effects. I’m not sure what that means, but yeah. Cool. What do you want to tell Americans? I love you. Love coming out. Not a lot. They asked how many subscribers I have. Let me show them. 120. I am new. Yeah. Yeah. They’re all very giggly for some reason. I think they’re probably in middle school. Early high school is my guess. How old are you guys? Age here. We’ll do this. It’s okay. How old are you? I am 21. Okay. I I am I I am 17. 17. 14. Okay. Good. Yeah. You study English in school kind of? Yeah, that’s what I was gonna say. Yeah. All right, Shukran. We’re going to go Shukran. All right. Well, you guys ready to rotate down to the There’s the uh amphitheater. We’re going to head over there next. We’re down here at the uh amphitheater. Hello, Jordan. Pass. I don’t know why I don’t know why ticket windows are are like actual barricades, but we’re here. Look at this. I’m going to go all the way up. That’s crazy. It’s going to be I’m just saying it’s awful steep though. Wow. Yeah. So steep. That’s crazy. Wow. I’m just imagine like a ton of people up here sitting down and like someone down here in the middle performing, doing something. So, what would they do down here? Like music, plays, theaters. Yeah. Shakespeare. The pit. Oh, there’s like a little water drain at the bottom. Wow. Dang. Oh, wow. Look at all these. Oh, yeah. The rocks are super slick cuz who knows how many people walked up these stairs over thousands of years. [Music] Wow. That’s where we were earlier. Crazy city here, huh? What? I wonder what’s in the door back here. Ah. Going down these is extremely difficult. They’re so steep and slippery and the stairs aren’t flat, so it’s really hard. I don’t want there seats here. These steps right here is like a ladder. It’s insane. I’m just going straight down. But yeah, super pretty. Look at these dudes making the pilgrimage down. It’s just so steep. Maybe you can kind of get an idea from like this view right here, but it’s so steep. But super cool here, though. All right, we’re going to get some lunch now, but I’ve got to get all the way in the left lane uh to make a U-turn. And there’s a heavy stream of cars coming. I’m trying to kind of jam myself out here. I got it. I think it’s this. Yeah, that was that was crazy. I got to turn left up here, bro. Oh my gosh. It’s a signal, though. This is a crazy part of town. [Music] All right, we have a green. Uh, wait, what? I’m supposed to go left here? No way. Wait, I’m supposed to go back here. Wait, can I just go? This guy was No way. Am I allowed to even do this? Yeah. Holy smokes. That was insane. We had to park like 15 minutes away because there’s no parking here. Um, but on this road up here on the highway, we’re driving on the highway. I’m probably going like 45 miles an hour. A guy’s just like backing up and I’m like, “Don’t do it.” So I like I was like honk honk like please don’t back up into me when I’m going 45. But the taxes here are interesting. They uh are open and have a spot they just honk and they look at you and they just go Hong Kong and you got to be like nope. See if we can get one here. See they’re full maybe. Yeah there’s people in that one cuz they cross the street. You kind of just have to go. No. See, this is just what it’s like walking down the street in Aman in 2025. Just insane all the stuff they got here. The shops are just loaded up with things, you know. So many hookah stores. We probably walked by like 10 just walking down the street. We got to cross the street now. Now we got to just pick a pathway and just go for it. Oh, right here. Right here. Right here. Oh, wow. Almost a wreck. Hurry. Hurry. This is unbelievable. I can’t even. Hello. All right. It should be this one here. Oh, wow. Here we go. We got to order this somehow. Hello. Hi. Good. Good. Huh? Matal is a good restaurant. Yes. That’s good. Help us. You have mas manaf. Mansaf. Okay. That I see. I don’t know. That’s why everyone’s been telling us to eat. Yeah. We’re going to sit here. Yes. I want mine stuff. You guys might be getting messed up, too. It’s so overwhelming, isn’t it? There’s so much happening. But that’s what I’m saying. Like, you got to find a little corner. Just relax. Like, we’re safe. Nothing bad’s happening. If anything, people are being nice and welcome, but it’s just so overwhelming, isn’t it? We are safe. It’s just crazy. Breakfast. You can eat spread. Should I eat this pickle that you gave me? It’s not really pickle. Welcome. Hello. You ready? I get the chicken. I’ll do that as well. Chicken. I already got my food, I guess. I think I already got my meal. Looks like. Yeah, there it is. It’s the men stuff. Um, I don’t really know how to eat this. I have a plate here. And there’s like a a sauce with it. I guess I’m just going to try some rice. It’s like a mushy rice. And this is like beef. Just like you’d expect. According to my very quick Google search, the way to eat men is you make a ball with your right hand. I’m going to do it like with this tortilla kind of bread. Get a ball of meat and rice and you dip it in this soup thing that I have. You’re not supposed to let your fingers touch your mouth when you put it in your mouth. It’s really good. There’s just a flavor in it that’s so different. I don’t know like what it is, but really good. I really like it. All of our meals, two swarm meals in a mansaf meal was 10 dinars. So, $14 I think. Yeah. 14. $14. That’s just insane, isn’t it? But now we’re going to walk around the streets a little bit, see what’s going on. So much is happening. But man, there’s big sense of like community here, though. Don’t you think? You can just tell these people like just like enjoy living here. Oh my gosh. Lots of birds and chickens, suitcases, a lot of clothes shops. [Applause] There’s the mosque up there. Let’s see if we can buy a kafia. I love that color right there. Five. Look. Five dinars for this outfit. You know, this is what happens when you get away from tourist spots. This? Yep. You want to go like this? Go ahead. Okay. Yeah. [Music] Okay. Yeah, looks good. It’s 3D knives. Sick. All right, we’re back. Okay, we’re out here. They tied it on my head. Uh, I think I’m probably going to get some looks, but All right, go step out in the sun. Uh, I already I already want to take it off. They were helping me get it on, but yeah, I’m a little intimidated wearing it right now, so I might take it off. I took it off. I was a little intimidated. There’s not as many people wearing it as there were in Egypt. So, but we’re going to wear that in Petra for sure. There’s only three dinars, too. It’s pretty awesome. But we’re going to keep walking the street here. Here’s the mosque. They probably won’t let us in there cuz we’re not dressed accordingly. But downtown. So much going on in these busy streets. Really fun though. Yep. We got to cross the street now. So, going to be crazy. Oh, let’s wait one more. Right here. Yeah. Go. Oh my gosh. I know. It feels wrong. Okay, we’re headed to the Jordan Museum where they have the uh Dead Sea Scrolls, right? That’s going to be freaking awesome. But we’re ran across the street here waiting for an opening here. Could have ran across. We just get ready to run. N they’re probably like, “These guys are freaking idiots.” Okay. All right. Yeah. Yeah. After the second white car. Nice. Let’s go. It’s just like the the scope of the city is crazy. It’s just in valleys and the roads are in the valleys. It’s wild. Hello. Okay. Inside the Jordan Museum now. Oh, this is how they moved water through the pipes and stuff back then. Huh. That is kind of weird. Yeah, they don’t know the meaning of it. I wouldn’t either. It’s kind of weird, huh? Kind of strange. It says this was 7500 BC. It’s so old. 9,000 years old. all from the different cities. Man, Karac, this is the better one. Wow. Yeah, that’ be so fun. All right, the Dead Sea Scrolls. We can go see after this, but let’s go see these guys. I think [Music] Oh, that’s a good cat. I don’t know what it’s doing in the museum, though. All right, I got to go. Bye. I’m sorry. It’s following me now. Bro, you’re not getting over. Look, this is how you change lanes in Jordan. You just go. All right. Come on, bro. Look at He’s doing it up here, too. I see why they’re changing lanes. All right. You have to get left or right. You got to go that way. There’s no way I get in. Well, all right. All right, we’re going two. They’re going that way. 270. Okay, dude. This is bad. The roundabouts here are just absurd. So, I can make it through cuz these guys are going to want to like get right. Oh, you go. You go off. You go off. See, that was a nice hump. He was just saying, “Hey, I’m coming.” Okay. Did that one. He’s coming out. I’m not going out, though. I need to I’m going to wait here. I’m going right. This guy’s leaking. He’s coming right. He’s not going right. Actually, that’s all a prank. He’s coming out. Go. You’re good. All right. Perfect. We got to break. Okay. Now, I’m going this way. Yep. Okay. Now, here’s the hard part is merging with people. Oh, you’re good at the white car. You’re good. You’re good. There’s no one there. Yes. Oh my gosh. That’s just absurd, isn’t it? I’ve never had to drive like this in my life. Okay, we made it to this this part of the area of the city we haven’t seen yet. There’s like a foot bridge because there’s so much traffic up here. Yeah, this is something crazy. Supermarket is probably better, maybe. Yeah. Wild over here. have like a Bed Bath and Beyond version in here. We’re getting crazy looks over here. What the Looks really good, actually. Wow. There’s actually a lot of produce in there. Yeah. Brendan said it looked like that six-pack of water was 75 cents. That’s insane. I was paying like one for a single bottle earlier. This is crazy. So, we’re going to go back over there after we go eat. But we’re going to go eat now, I think, cuz there’s not really much to do over here. It’s fine, Shukran. Shukran. Thank you. Okay, so that’s the fate, uh, hummus, Arabic salad. We got a bunch of stuff that we just eat with the falafel. Here’s some fresh, um, vegetables and stuff. We got some very like floaty bread. It’s not really what I expected, but we have an absolute mega feast here. How is it? I’m going to try the uh the hummus first. Oh my god. I’m going have to get another order up. So good. Shout out my to my friend Jackson for recommending this place. It is a vegetarian vegan restaurant. All right, here’s another thing. The fate. Wow. I love that. That’s amazing. All right. This is the cool. I think the guy suggested us to eat this one. I like it though. It like tastes like feet for a minute and then it’s like warm meaty, but it’s not meat. Especially try falafel with with the fatt that way. So weird. Wow. Okay, I’m going to try the Arabic salad now. He said you can eat with a spoon, but I’m going to try with the bread anyways. Wow, I like that. It’s tahini, which is kind of like suziki, so you may not like this as much. Probably the freshest tomatoes ever. Second to papa. Papa’s got the best tomatoes. Papas are better. I’m not a big fan. All right, I’m going to try the spice one. Tastes like tomato sauce. More of a spicy flavor. Not really like No, it’s good. Kind of there. I’ve probably eaten five loaves of bread. Probably a cup and a half of olive oil. It’s amazing flavor, but I’m getting a little burnt out on it. How are you feeling after eating a bunch of fatty liquids with olive oil? I feel great. How do you feel? Good. Feel like I’m going to love it later. Your what? My gut’s going to love it later. Yeah, we’re definitely going to feel it later. But it’s such good food. Such good quality food. Yeah. I would love to eat this more often. Not every day, but more often. He just came by and was giving us more and I’m like, “We don’t need that.” I’m like, “We’re good. We don’t want you to like waste the bread.” But I love the the the fata. The fata is my favorite one. And it’s like what is it? Hummus with like chickpeas and pine nuts. I think you can eat that with a spoon. I think we got more. That’s good. That’s good. Yeah, we’re full. There’s two more. Yeah. That’s like Look how much work we’ve done on this. This is the the fata. These were all full at one point. These were full at one point. It looks like we didn’t like that one as much. We didn’t like the Arabic salad much at all. But such good food. We’re going to get some groceries and some food for tomorrow because tomorrow we’re driving to Wani Musa because the next day we’re going to Petra. So stay tuned for that. Um yeah, we’re getting some food cuz in a big case of water. because we’re going to be out driving in the desert for like 3 hours. So, look at all this. They got so many sweets and stuff here. It’s crazy. I wonder how much some of this is. Even like packaged ones. It says some brownie balls in English. It’s pretty funny. Yeah. I don’t know. Two and a half. See, it’s cheap, bro. It’s like $320. Here’s where we’re going to get some stuff here. That’s crazy. It’s like goat milk or something. Hi. Say your name. Hi. Hi. Are you guys uh you guys happy living in Jordan? Yeah. You like Jordan? Yeah. What’s your message to America? What do you want to tell America? Free Palestine. Free Palestine. Good. I like it. Three dollar sign. Awesome. Cool. So, yesterday I bought a Red Bull, a water, and like a little candy bar. And it was eight dinars. I just bought a Red Bull and a uh Phantom Matrix, and it was 1.8 dinars. And we got a six-ack of water. And how what other stuff? Two Matrix. Yeah. For 1.25. So, downtown price is insane. So, if you come to Jordan, if you go to most places, if you’re going to get grocery and stuff, you need to leave the down the tourism downtown area. That’s where you can get good prices on stuff. Okay. Very funny. Yeah. Look at that bus, bro. Coar. [Music] Thank you guys for watching this video. I hope I can show you a little bit about what life is like in Aman in 2025. Really awesome. the nicest people ever. Um, we’ve had a great time so far. It’s been nothing but good things. So, thank you for watching. Tomorrow, like I said, we head to Wim Musa where the next day we’ll be going to Petra. So, check out that video. But again, thank you guys. Deuces. [Music]
EPISODE 2 OF THE JORDAN ROADTRIP
In this vlog, I take you with me to one of the most fascinating and culturally rich cities in the Middle East — Amman, Jordan. This video documents a full day of exploration, food, ancient history, and real encounters in 2025. Whether you’re curious about what it’s like to visit Jordan, planning your own trip to Amman, or just love travel vlogs from the Middle East, this video gives you a genuine look into the heart of Jordan’s capital — its people, history, and unforgettable energy.
We started the morning in our Airbnb with a peaceful breakfast of fresh flatbread, hummus, labneh, olives, and hot tea. From there, we headed to the Amman Citadel, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Perched high above the city, the Citadel offers incredible panoramic views and ancient ruins dating back thousands of years. We explored the Temple of Hercules and remains from the Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad eras — each piece of stone telling part of Jordan’s deep history. The atmosphere was quiet, powerful, and deeply reflective.
Next, we walked down to the Roman Theatre — a massive amphitheater carved into the hillside that once held over 6,000 people. Standing in its center and hearing your own echo brings history to life. The craftsmanship and scale are breathtaking, showing just how advanced Roman engineering was.
After leaving the theatre, we drove straight into Amman’s chaotic and lively traffic — an experience in itself. Horns, vendors, people, and animals all move in one unpredictable rhythm. Eventually, we stopped along a bustling street filled with life: voices calling out, grills sizzling, and a constant movement of people. We ducked into a small local food shop that clearly hadn’t seen many tourists. No English menus, no signs for travelers — just real Jordanian life.
There, I tried Mansaf, Jordan’s national dish, for the first time. The combination of textures and flavors was incredible — rich, savory, and distinctly Jordanian. It wasn’t just a meal, it was a cultural experience that said everything about Jordanian hospitality.
After lunch, we visited the Jordan Museum, one of the country’s most impressive collections of artifacts. The highlight was seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls — ancient biblical texts that are among the oldest known. Standing before them was humbling and gave us a deeper appreciation for the historical and spiritual weight of this region.
As evening came, we took a short break at our Airbnb to recharge before heading out again. For dinner, we went to one of Amman’s most famous restaurants — Abu Jbara. Locals and travelers alike had told us it was a must-visit, and they were absolutely right. The table filled with hummus, fatteh, Arabic salad, foul, and endless baskets of warm pita. Every bite was packed with flavor, each dish perfectly balanced. It was the kind of meal that makes you pause, look around, and realize you’re somewhere truly special.
On the way back, we stopped by a small neighborhood shop for snacks and drinks. Inside, I met a young boy — just another customer — who looked at us, smiled, and said simply, “Free Palestine!” It was an unexpected and powerful reminder of the identity, emotion, and solidarity woven into daily life here.
This day in Amman was full of discovery — from ancient ruins and vibrant markets to unforgettable meals and small, meaningful encounters. It was more than sightseeing; it was immersion. Jordan is a country where history lives beside modern life, and where every person you meet has a story to share.
If you’re planning to visit Amman, Jordan in 2025 or beyond, I hope this vlog gives you a real, unfiltered sense of what it’s like. This video isn’t about luxury travel or curated moments — it’s about connection, curiosity, and understanding a place through its people and culture.
Whether you’re researching travel in the Middle East, exploring Jordanian cuisine, or dreaming of walking through ancient ruins, this vlog will give you the inspiration and insight you need. Thank you for watching!
