FEW DAYS ON THE FRENCH-GERMAN BOARDER | Castles, Macaroons, Home Cooking & Little European Villages
Heat. Heat. [Music] Oh my god, guys. You’re lucky I love you that I didn’t make you come on that 11hour train adventure today. Currently eating Tootsie Rolls because feeling a little shaky from my low blood sugar. We barely even ate today. I’m choking on Tootsie Roll. We’re in France. France. Wait, what did that girl say when she did Miss America? She was like France. Um, yes, we made up. What was his name? France. He helped us come in here, gave us the keys to our gorgeous Airbnb. Sarah thought he was scary, but he was a nice guy. Nice old French guy. Let me give you the tour before I give you the rundown. Here’s good old Sarah looking at um a pad thai menu cuz we’re starving. We have a kitchen, so we’re hoping to cook a little bit this week. Save some money. Our little living room. And we actually do have a gorgeous balcony. Here she is. Hopefully the view looks a little bit better tomorrow. We were thinking we were going to be in like a small village. Turns out we’re in like a city. It’s giving more or less Paris. Okay, continuing the tour. Here is our bedroom. And we have another exit to get outside. We have this gorgeous queen-sized bed. And these are doors that open into a big what’s that called? Closet. We also have this one. Come over here. And here’s our lovely bathroom. Very European, but she’s gorgeous. We have some places to put our stuff. And a gorgeous little mirror. Wow. I actually love it. It is. It is cute. It’s cute. Yeah. Our fa. Okay. So, get a pad tie, a fur, and I don’t know what else. Do you think we can just call and order? I think you can order online maybe. Yes, that would be wonderful. Um, yeah. So, we got on the train. We left the the hotel at like quarter of 9 and we had a whole situation because we got on the wrong train, the tram just to get to the train. We were supposed to get on a bus, which Google Maps did not specify. So, we got on the wrong train. We had to get off, get an Uber. We did end up making it on time, so that was good. And then we get on the train and then there was like an hour delay end up being. So that was awesome. So then we missed our connecting. So then we had to rebook and I don’t know if you guys are interested in doing the URL pass if you plan to travel in Europe. I’m not sure I’d really recommend it. You have to pay for a pass, but then they also make you pay for seat selection. So it’s like at that point I might as well just pay for a ticket. doesn’t make any sense. So, we tried to do it today so like we didn’t have to pay for seat selection, but then because we had to switch and do a new train, we had to pay €21 for seat selection, which is like $50 between the two of us. What the hell? We get on our new train, which was an hour after. So, we had like an hour in between. We we got like sandwiches that were like a little sus. Did not like the Frankfurt um train station. It was very sketchy. like homeless people were coming up to us while we were eating at a restaurant. Not huge into that, but we got on the train and it was only like 2 hours. It did end up getting delayed 40 minutes, so that’s awesome. So, we got to France 3 hours later than we anticipated, but also we paid for seat selection and like for the train itself. Nobody checked our tickets. So, nobody cared that we had seat selection that we paid for and nobody cared that we might not even have paid for the train. So that was a money grab. Pissed at you. U your rail for that. Yeah. No one even checked. Nobody checked once. I didn’t see one person that worked there. Yeah. That was awesome. That was so awesome. And now we’re here. But we made it. And it’s all part of the adventure. You have to be okay with things going wrong if you’re going to travel. And if that’s the worst thing that happens this whole trip, then we nailed it. So we’re going to get food. We’re going to eat. And we’re excited to be here. And we’re right on the border of Germany. So, we’re hoping to do France and Germany while we’re here. We’re here for five nights, I think. So, let’s do it. We’re going to order food. Starving. Oh my god, guys. This is the best site I’ve ever seen. And we actually have refrigerator so we can have leftovers. Oh, thank God. We’re also back on our French [ __ ] mercy. Yeah. I’m like, I’m about to download Dualingo. But we walked in there and she was like, “Bonswa.” And we were like, “Hi.” And she’s like, “Yeah, you guys were the takeout.” Yeah, we can tell. Excuse us. We have to go eat. This is we we must enjoy. Well, dinner was delish. We’re going to finish the last episode of Love is Blind cuz we watched that on most of the train ride. And then for the last 30 minutes, the Wi-Fi is working. So, we literally have like 30 minutes left of this show. So, we’re going to watch that and we’re going to go to bed. So, I will see you in the morning so we can go explore France. So, or bones, you understand. Good morning, vlog. We slept wonderfully. We slept until like 9:00 in the morning. Just what we needed. And then we did some Pilates. Mhm. And now we were just about to hit the road, but it’s raining. Luckily, we bought these tiny umbrellas. Thank you, HomeGoods. And so we’re going to put those to use. I think we’re going to head over to Leit France. Is that what it’s called? Yeah. Leit Perry. I don’t know. Yeah. So, we’re heading over there. We’re probably going to, you know, obviously take some photos and get some lunch cuz it’s already 11:00. Yeah. So, wait. The umbrellas could be good for our photos. I know. It could be cute. Yeah. We’ll make it work. Yeah. Let’s go. This is our hallway. Thanksgiving prison. Yeah, that’s our hallway. And this is our elevator. Not scary at all. No, it looks like a rain. Such a cute view. Such a horrible sound. The one thing we’ve noticed in France is that they definitely have a staring problem. They like they’re very Well, I guess we don’t know what they’re thinking, but it feels judgmental from an outsers’s perspective, but it’s giving judgmental stairs. It’s giving judgmental. It’s really cute here. We’re not in Notre Dame. Oh, we’re not staying in the nicest area, per se, but it was only like a 10-minute walk down here to Le Petit. So, we’re walking. We’re enjoying. And the rain stopped, so thank goodness. We found all the tourists. [Music] It’s really raining now. [Music] Wait, look at that. That looks really good. So, we stopped by a restaurant called Nest. So, we’re going to get some fish and chips to eat for lunch cuz it’s noon. But, we went into this like gray store. It was like um a women’s store. They had like gloves and hats and jackets, whatever. And we walk in and the woman really starts talking French. We’re like, “Sorry.” She was not happy that we couldn’t speak French. We put our umbrellas down so we didn’t trip everywhere. We’re just walking around and then Sarah like goes over to look at some gloves and I see like a set of stairs and she like runs over and she’s speaking French to Sarah and Sarah’s like, “I’m sorry.” And she like mimics like falling down the stairs. She’s like, “Don’t fall down the stairs.” Sarah’s like, “Okay.” And we go like go to the back of the store. She’s like following us. I think she was thinking we were like going to steal something. I don’t know. And then we were like by the door looking at some other things. She goes, “Oh, I’m like and she was like goodbye. cuz she thought I didn’t understand her. It’s like, “No, I didn’t understand you. We just weren’t going to leave.” We were just confused. But I guess we’re leaving. Yeah, cuz you kicked us out, right? You literally kicked us out. Yeah. It’s been interesting morning. It’s very cute, but the rain makes it hard for us to like stop and enjoy. Oh, well. Also, there’s a moose head here. Didn’t realize that was back in New Hampshire. We’re at a German spot, so it only makes sense that we would get a pretzel. Let’s rip this puppy open. I don’t know where it put this hot after directly on it. Wait, it’s a cold pretzel. It’s cold. Interesting. It’s good though because it’s a pretzel fish sticks. Mhm. Wait, I kind of love this. Oh yeah. I’ll try some tartar sauce. It’s very fishy. Oh, it’s not great. Their ketchup here is also a lot sweeter. Yeah, they don’t have time. We finished lunch and now we’re just kind of roaming around looking in shops, mostly window shopping cuz I can’t really fit anything in my bag. But the sun just came out and let’s hope that it stays that way because all the photos like do not look as good when it’s cloudy and it’s making me tired. So, they have a Notre Dame of their own here. And I wasn’t really expecting it to be that big. Holy [ __ ] Far more impressive. [Music] Wow. [Music] It seems that skirts aren’t really the attire here. and we’re feeling like we need to take a little break. So, we’re going to go head back, change into jeans, I guess, and then kind of decide what we want to do from there. Before I change out of this, this is what I’m wearing. Okay. We were getting like literally walking past women who would literally stop and turn around and stare at us as we walked by. This is what Sarah’s wearing. like well literally covered up. I I guess people can’t handle a little bit of thighs and a little bit of knees out here, but they were not making us feel comfortable in the slightest. Coming back. Yeah, the skirt is not going to be worn in Strawport cuz clearly nobody can handle it. I also don’t know if it was because I’m wearing colors. Everybody is in like black jeans and like a black shirt. There’s not a lot of color out in these streets. So, that’s a tad disappointing. But looks like we’re going to be rocking our jeans for the next few days. We’ve decided to take the stairs instead of the sketchy elevator and we have pants on. So hopefully no one will look at us. But we just learned that gingerbread is like huge here in Strawburg. So we found like one of the famous places to check out. So we’re going to head over there first. Hopefully we can pick out a few of gingerbreads. They said they have multiple flavors. So that’s what our mission is right now. Guys, I think I was being a hater earlier cuz it was cloudy and rainy and I was tired because we’re back where we started this morning and it looks absolutely gorgeous. It is so cute. And the sun is out and it’s warm as hell. I’m glad we came back out. Me, too. Look at Look at Sarah and how gorgeous this looks. Wow. Here we are. Oh my goodness. Look at it all. Oh my goodness. There’s way too many options. Yeah, I think we should get one of those. the frosted ones. Okay, so we decided on little frosted gingerbread stars and dark chocolate pretzels because Germany is like known for their pretzels. So, duh. Cheers. Uh-oh. Cheers. Taste German. Good. Does it taste like regular gingerbread? Mm-m. What’s it taste like? It tastes like ginger. It’s hard to explain. It’s like more subtle than regular gingerbread. We wanted ones with frosting and they had big heart-shaped cookies, but they didn’t have frosting. So, I still have chocolate in my mouth. Oh, yeah. It is citrusy still. Yeah. in German to you. For some reason gave German. Okay, I need to know what the deal is with pigeons because it does not matter where I go in this entire world. They have pigeons. The islands, the UK, the rest of Europe, obviously the US. Please, I need I need answers. They’re invasive. They’re so invasive. I’m so shocked by the prices of some things. Like in Amsterdam, I paid 99 cents for 32 tampons. We just paid $1.40 a US dollar for a fresh French baguette. I feel like you can’t get that in the States. No. Bread is expensive. It’s amazing. Although it might not seem like we’re balling on a budget out here, we did budget pretty good for our housing. And also, we have not spent that much on food. When I did the total for how much we spent in for four days in Edinburgh for drinks and food, it only cost us $160 each and we ate out for every meal except like breakfast. But we just went to the grocery store [Applause] and we got stuff to make chicken pesto bara uh tortillini and we got a French baguette and it cost us €29 in total. And so this is probably going to be two meals worth. So look at that. 29 divided by two. That’s like 14 12 / two 725 a night. Yeah. And the spotlight. Thank you so much. So we are balling on a budget, guys. You can do it. I swear. That’s all I have to say cuz we’re hungry. We’re going to cook this [ __ ] up. And also that included five apples because we do need fresh fruit out in here. They don’t like to serve fruit or many vegetables. Oh my god. Are you kidding? Who needs to eat at a French restaurant when we have French baguette and this gorgeous meal? This looks better than any chicken. Honestly, I have been dearly missing home-cooked meals. So, I’m very excited that we have a kitchen because this [ __ ] looks so good. Really good. We’re going to have extras for sure because there’s so much food. So, that means we can eat it twice. Can’t wait. One more look. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, hey Chad. Forgot about you for a little while there. Um, if you couldn’t tell, I just freshly washed my hair. She is clean. Smells delicious. Except I have a stuffy nose. That came on quick. After we had dinner, we literally just hung out, took showers, journaled. Nothing much because feeling a little tired. I’m not even that tired. I think I’m just like run down. But we um booked our train. We’re going to Kare tomorrow, which is another city in France. I think it’s a little bit south. North. I think it’s south. But it’s only a half an hour train. So, we’re getting up. We’re going to do Pilates in the morning and then get on the train and go do that. Supposed to rain tomorrow, but fingers crossed it’s lying because it also said it was going to rain today and it was only sprinking sprinking sprinkling a little bit. So, that’s my update for you. We’re going to bed. I’m going to go read and snuggle up and hope this stuffy nose goes away. So, see you in the morning. Good morning vlog. We are up and ready. We did Pilates. I am feeling congested, but please tell me you can’t tell. We are on our way to the train station cuz we’re having our day in Kare. So, let’s hit it. We made it. The train was super fast and no one ever checked our tickets. So, not sure why we paid for anything because no one even knew we were there. So, that’s awesome. But it’s definitely slower here. Oh my god, my nose is dripping. I’ve already pretty much used up my aotted tissues that I brought. But foliage here is cute. And we’re heading down to what’s it called? La Petite Venice. Leit Venice. So, little Venice if you don’t speak French. 15-inute walk. Yeah, because we me too. It’s giving like a quieter straw. Birds are still pretty cute. We’re almost to Leita Veni. Much quieter version. We found a church of sorts. So, what all these places have in common are cobblestone roads, which we just saw people repairing. And it’s obviously not like the states where they just pave over it. Like these people are on their hands and knees like putting grout in between each and every stone, which is very labor inducing. It’s very brave of them. Um, but they all also have very colorful buildings that are close together and churches. Lots and lots of churches. Guys, it’s finally warm enough for us to not wear jackets. Yay. Hopefully, it’s like this in Italy the whole time. Look at how cute these are. Oh my god. Look at how [ __ ] big those swans are. That’s like the size of a human. I love this. This is a market. I thought it was just food, but it’s everything. Oh yeah, guys. I’m so scared. Oh my god. People are feeding them. We’re at a restaurant. I’m scared. Oh my god, their feet. No, I don’t have anything. We can do matchy match. Matching set. He’s getting closer. So afraid of him. Oh my goodness. A French German delight. We had to try it. So my cousin Alex, you guys saw in the last video, his mom is from Germany and so she said a tart flambe is like what we had to try while we were here. So, here we go. It looks good. Oh, so good. It’s soft. Yum. It’s like um giving kind of picasha kind of giving pizza flatbread. I like a very flat bread. An ultra flat bread. Delish. I’m starting to look ill. It’s not ideal. Um, we’re walking around shopping and there must be an an Eiffel Tower, a Statue of Liberty somewhere because we keep seeing them everywhere. There’s one in Paris. So, I wonder if they have one here, too. There kept being like little triangles like pointing. We’re going to find it. Wow. Okay, so we looked it up, guys. The Statue of Liberty is a 59minute walk. So, we won’t be seeing it today, but it is in fact here. And I bet Yeah, we have those at home. I bet it’s like a smaller version like they had in Paris, too. Yeah. Just follow these for 59 minutes and you’ll get there. Our new journey is to find raspberry macaroons. They don’t have any here, but look at that. Oh my god. Oh my goodness. There they are. Oh my god. We got a box of six taped. Oh my goodness. This should cure me, right? This is good. Is it pistachio? Mhm. It’s really good. This is definitely raspberry. Oh my god. I might need to go back and buy the big version of this. Mhm. What is it? It’s very lemony. Oh, try. Perfect. That’s what I wanted. I like it. Tastes like a lemon square. M. Do you think pink lemonade? It’s really good. Anything fruity, citrusy, it’s like my favorite. Yeah, I like this one. That one’s really, really good. This one’s vanilla bean. We think this one feels hard. Oh, I just smushed it. Thumb right through it. That literally tastes like vanilla ice cream. Really? Mhm. Give it to me. That’s really, really good. Wow. Doesn’t that taste just like vanilla ice cream? Super creamy. Yeah, it’s really good. Yum. No, you haven’t. But I already had it a half. which makes a half for you. But I ate the rest of the lemon one. Okay, fine. We decided we’ve seen enough. It was super cute. It was more like what we thought Strawburg was going to be like. Kind of like smaller town vibes. Um not sure how it looks like Venice, but that’s okay. It was cute. There was this one canal right in the middle, but but it was cool. Yeah, it was nice. I’m glad that we came a little day trip outside of the city that we’re staying in. And we got macaroons and we also got croissants for tomorrow morning. And we’re going to go back. I don’t know what we’re going to do. I’m feeling a tad under the weather, but I will rally. I’m going to try to flush this out. I’m going to be googling how to feel better ASAP. So, wish me luck. One thing about Sarah and I is that we’re going to eat when we’re hungry. So, um it’s 3:30 and we’re having dinner. P Thai torillini, our leftovers, and a baguette. Seems like a hearty meal. I’m slicing up my baguette. Sarah’s using the microwave, and then we’ll do a little switch of brew. It’s raining, so we probably can’t leave tonight. Oh, no. We just watched the last episode of Love is Blind. And none of the girls said yes to these idiots, so that was crazy, but truly awesome. Love them for that. Standing on business. Yeah. Yeah, I don’t know if we have any other plans today, but I am needing to rest. I’m feeling better sitting down. When I’m walking around, I’m like truly exhausted. So, we’re going to go enjoy our our dinner. Okay, fine. We’re leaving the house. Sarah and I decided we want chicken tenders, so we’re going to go do a quick little pickup. Allegedly, it’s fast food. What’s the place called? Pepe’s Chicken. Pepe’s Chicken. You heard it here. So, I have to put real pants on because I guess it’s not like as acceptable here as it is in America to kind of just like look like a a loser when you’re walking around, unfortunately. So, I do have to go put jeans on, but we’re going to go get food because we ate dinner at 3:00. So, that’s on us, guys. It was just [ __ ] pouring rain while we were trying to walk here. We’re almost there. Okay, we’re ordering this chicken I’ve ever had in my life. box tender. How many Strawburg at night if you were wondering? Sarah’s got the chicken and a little iced tea. This smells so [ __ ] good. [Music] Pepe’s chicken. Oh my god, they’re huge. Oh my god. Plus two a little extra. That’s huge. They gave us There’s pickles in there. I don’t know what this Oh, this is a lot. I’m like, what else do we get? There’s pickles. It smells like pickles. The pickles are so weird to me. Pickle sauce. Pickles in the bottom of this. Oh, what is the sauce? Look at how big these are. This is an American sized portion. Thank god. Oh, right. I can’t read French. Smells like tartar almost. Could be. says Mount [ __ ] Mount Mauard, right? I don’t know what that means. They like mayo here, so it’s probably mayo. Oh. Oh, that’s sus. Mhm. That’s really weird looking. And it’s got all over me. Ew. Okay. It’s light yellow. It’s giving mayo. These are so big. Hannah would hate these. Why? She does not like the big chicken. It freaks her out. She doesn’t think it gets cooked. Oh, yeah. That’s really The sauce is interesting. I don’t think I dipped it up. I’m scared. Well, these are huge. They’re like fat. They gave us four in this one. So, I think there’s six. They gave Wait. Yeah, they gave us more than they should have. Perfect. Hopefully, we got leftovers. Mhm. This is a good call. A little expensive for fast food though. Yeah. 23. But I guess these are like hefty ass chicken. It’s a lot. Chicken’s expensive here. We paid €8 for one chicken breast. That’s not normal. We used to pay €11 for three chicken breasts. You mean like Yeah. Feed us for a while. Interesting. We used to back in the day when we weren’t homeless. Okay, we’ve decided we’re going to Germany tomorrow. So, we’re going to take the train over and you guys will see tomorrow. I don’t need to explain it to you, but we’re just going to watch some Breaking Bad, shower up, get our stuff ready for tomorrow, and we’re going to have a good day. I’m going to try to go to bed as early as possible so that I can sleep off this face congestion they have going cuz it’s it’s starting to piss me off. So, got Sarah back here googling some stuff for what we want to do in Switzerland next week and I was looking up the best way to go about our day tomorrow. So, can’t wait. See you in the morning. Well, guys, we finally had a plan. Good morning, by the way. As to what we wanted to do today. And then we woke up and it was absolutely downpouring and the weather says that there’s severe wind warnings. So, we’re not going to go to Germany today. We’re going to save that for tomorrow. But today, we’re going to do everything we were going to plan on doing tomorrow. So, like um the Rowan Palace. We’re also going to do there’s like this really pretty school. I don’t know what it’s called, but we’re definitely going to do that today. It’s starting to be blue skies, so fingers crossed it stays that way. We had a slow morning, which is nice. We I think I really needed it. I’m feeling less congested for sure. And I didn’t even blow my nose last night. Not that you guys care, but So, we’re switching our plans a little bit around and we’re just excited to have the last two days here before we head to Switzerland, which is going to be so [ __ ] cool. So, we’ll do some Pilates and get ready and then we’ll get out there. Hopefully, it’ll be sunny by the time we’re ready. Okay, fine. We’ll leave the house. The sun has finally come out. It literally rained all morning. So, we did Pilates and then we kind of just like chilled, which is what we needed. We watched some Breaking Bad. We ate lunch. We got ready for the day. And now that um Palace Rowan is back open, we’re going to head over that way. It’s like a 20-minute walk. And it feels cold out there. It says it’s 60, but I’m wearing a sweater cuz it looks kind of cold. So, we’re heading over there. We We might It’s only $8 or something to get in for something cheap like that. So, we might roam around inside. We’ll see when we get there. So, let’s hit it. Oh, Jesus. Look at my hair. It’s sunny, but the the wind warning is definitely true. It’s not one thing, it’s another. But it’s fine. Getting some fresh air, and it’s not too too cold, so we’ll survive. It’s so windy. Um, honestly not sure. Thinking this is the palace. Don’t know who’s the water. Once again, we are stupid. We literally were next to the palace when we were looking at the Notre Dame. Like literally, we were taking pictures in front of the palace and didn’t even know. No, that’s cool. Yeah. Okay. Guess we’re going in. Yeah, it’s literally like we were just taking pictures standing right there. In our defense, this door was not open when we were here. So So there were no signs. There was no signs. Super cute. The Bishop’s Palace in Strawburg was built between 1732 and 1742 for Cardinal Guest, Prince Bishop of Strawburg. He’s both a church’s dignitary residence and royal one. Okay. Right. Yeah. So, we bought Oh, you can do listening tours here, too. But I’m kind of over that. I’m over that as well. Yeah. There’s three different museums here. So, we got the decorative arts one, which is like all of the interior. [Music] She’s kind of giving What did we do in Paris? We did House of Versailles. What was the other one that we did? The Lou. Yeah. Yeah. I’m like just got robbed. Right. I do love all of this. Like, this is the type of house parties that I want to be throwing where I need a dining room table this big. Oh my goodness. Really cool. Really? Yeah. A view of the water. Oh, that’s where we just were. Yeah. Wow. Zodiac signs. Napoleon the first study allegedly. Everything’s so pretty. Oh, this is Napoleon’s morning room. Of course, everyone needs one of those. It looks extra gorge right now. So, we’re on our way to what did I say it was called? The international school day of pontineers. Pontineers. Don’t quote me on that. But it’s a really cute school that we’re just going to go look at. It’s just a little view we can see. And then um we’re talking about doing afternoon tea again. We’ll see. We have to walk past it and see if they if it’s worth it cuz I don’t know if anything can beat the dome, but we’re thinking about it. Imagine this is your high school. Wow. It’s so gorge. I love it. And this cute little bridge. Now we’re going to still start making our way back. We’re probably like probably like a half an hour walk back to our hotel. But we walked right past the tea place. So we’re going to see. They say that they book out pretty far in advance, but we’re just going to check in. Then if not, we can always find a cafe and just get tea and like a little a little sweet treat. So yeah, we’re going to go figure it out. So here’s what we decided. We got a raspberry eclair. This is Oh my god. This is called an opera. And then we each got a cute little tea thing. Yum. Oh my god. Just smells like chocolate. Oh my god. How is it? Really good. I can’t smell it. It’s pretty much fudge. Almost like tiramisu. Really? Yeah. Good. You had a clear time. Was it hard to rip this? No. Give it to me, Rachel. Oh, Jesus. I’m a mess. Okay. Eclair. Is it like fruit leather on the top? I don’t know what it could possibly be. It is really good. We haven’t tried an eclair yet. I like it. I like it, too. These were good choices. We are back in our apartment. We went and hit the grocery store because we do not want to eat out anymore. It takes too long. And we enjoyed actually having like a home-cooked meal. So, we just got some chicken and broccoli. We’re going to do pesto chicken and broccoli and cherry tomatoes since we have leftover cherry tomatoes and pesto. So, that’s what we’re doing. And we’re probably just going to hang out. We’re thinking we’re going to do like a nightwalk later because all the pictures show like Strawburg at night like looks really cute. So, we thought we’d come back here and cook dinner and then go out there later once the sun sets. Y, we’re on our cooking grind. So, look at what we’re making. We got some chicken. Sarah’s cutting up the tomatoes. We also have other chicken cooking over here with pesto in there and then broccoli. We are eating healthy. We are eating good. And I can’t wait. It’s 7:18. Perfect. Are we going out to see the lights like I said we were going to? Probably not. That is okay. We’re already in our pajamas the second we walk through the door. Mu. Yeah, look at that. Perfect dinner. Yum. Okay, vlog. Time to shower and get ready for bed. Tomorrow we’re actually going to Germany. It looks like it’s not supposed to be as windy and not as rainy. So, we’re going to get up, do Pilates probably again, have some breakfast, head down to the train station. So, see you tomorrow. Good night. Good morning vlog. Good morning. Officially Germany day. We are heading to the train station. We’re all dressed up. It is a little chilly out, so we’re bringing our scarves and our gloves today. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad cuz we’re going to be hopefully more in the countryside rather than a city. So, let’s go head to the train station. [Music] We stopped for lunch first at Oen Burger, and look at how gigantic this sandwich is. Oh my god, thank god we’re splitting. So far, our day in Germany is off to not a great start. We tried to get an Uber and it said there was no Ubers. So, then we tried to get a taxi and none of the taxis take card. We only have a card and we didn’t bring our debit cards because our debit cards don’t work over here, which means we can’t take out cash at an ATM. So, now we’re trying to figure out the bus system and it doesn’t seem like there’s a bus that goes there at the moment. We can’t figure it out, though. Yeah. So, we have no idea. We could just be sitting at the bus station for the day. I’d rather not, but all we got to say we went to Germany. Yeah. Oh my god. Our luck has turned. We’re on the [ __ ] bus. There was not a single sign that said that this bus was coming by and Sarah just looks up. She’s like, “That’s our bus.” So, we ran across the street. The man does not speak German. They don’t take card anywhere here. Sarah had luckily €10 to pay for this. God. And so, hopefully this bus will come by on the way back so that we can come back home after we see this. So, we’re on our way, I guess. I am so shocked that we made it. It’s really cute here. We can see the castle from here. We just we have to walk up to it cuz obviously the bus didn’t take us directly in there. But it’s a cute like it’s actually a hostel now, but it was a castle and it’s surrounded by vineyards. So I think that I think that Yeah, I think the clouds are done. I think I think everything’s working in our favor. So let’s not get hit by a car. Yeah, guys. It’s literally right there. Imagine that’s your hostel. It’s so cool. Guys, the sun is out. You have no idea how good this feels. Oh, it’s so warm. Look at all the grapes. Oh my god. We decided to say screw Google Maps. There was an opening. We’re going up the vineyard instead. There was no sign that said we couldn’t, which means do whatever we want. Little German neighborhoods. Pretty awesome view for them. Well, this is why no one goes this way. It’s because it stops. So, we’re going back down and around. We just wanted to see the sights, that’s all. We may or may not have cut through private property, but Google Maps told us to, so we’re just following what they say. This is the first place we’ve seen people have actual backyards. I love it. This is such a cool view. Wow. the entrance to the hostel. A double S. That’ be Yes, I agree. Schlloth. Schllo. It’s a double S sound, everyone. In case you were wondering, it says private. I know. What a cute hostel. Wow. Wow. Love it. I wonder if we can see the vineyard. Oh, there it is. What? We were just walking down there. Look at those stairs. We should go up there afterwards. So cool. A lot of sports, it seems. This is what I was hoping Strawburg would be like. Just like open field. So, I’m glad we’re getting to experience it here. [Music] [Applause] Oh, yeah. That’s really cute, too. I think it’s I don’t even remember how I found this place, but I was just looking for a close German town for us to come visit while we were here, and this castle popped up, and it’s it’s so cool that this is literally a hostel. Like the people are sleeping in there, probably. It’s amazing. But it’s like free to just walk around. Oh, no one. We haven’t even seen anybody, but it said that like there’s trails within all the vineyards if you’re looking for more like a hiking rather than photo taking like us. But it’s just really beautiful view. And we had the perfect day for it. Yeah, this is awesome. Weatherwise. Yay. I’m so glad we found the bus. It’s okay. Feel like Rapunzel. Gorgeous. More stairs than I thought it was. Oh, vlog video ever. Wow. Wow. Pretty. I love it. This is the right way. I hope it’s the right way. I was just trying to get us to the base of this because the pictures looked pretty cool. I don’t know when our moms say to be careful, but we’re just actually in the woods in Germany. Yeah, perfect. Super safe. No, we’re kidding. We are safe. The castle’s right there. Looks like there’s a watch tower we can go all the way up into. Oh, that’s cool. Kind of scary, actually. Take a video. Wow. Another view of the same thing. Equally as beautiful. This place is humongous. We literally have it all to ourselves. What’s so cool is how perfectly in line they put everything. Like, how do they get the plants like that? Like, this is awesome. So, so cool. And it still keeps going. There’s a mini version of the castle. What? Oh, cute. This is a youth hostel, so I feel like they do like not like summer camp, but like field trip kind of things with younger kids here cuz there’s a lot of pictures of young kids on the website and then those looked like those shields were drawn by little kids. So cool. Wow, the castle’s much bigger than I thought. Yeah, it’s guys. That was really actually very steep and very high. Oh, it’s 360. [Music] This is crazy. Wow. Absolutely beautiful. So, it says that Strawburg is straight ahead. So, if you look straight ahead, I’ll try and zoom in. Do you guys think that that’s the Notre Dame? That little black peak. Could be. We’re heading back down. But I’m so glad that we found the bus cuz that was so cool. It was awesome. Like, how can I get a vineyard in my backyard? Look at that. And a castle. And a castle. I usually travel with no like currency of the location that I’m going cuz usually we don’t need it. But if you’re going to go like outside the city, you might need some euros, FYI. Because every form of transportation that we tried to take needed a form of euros, needed cash of sorts, excuse me, no credit card. Not the buses, not the taxis, and they don’t have Ubers. So, if you’re planning on coming to Offenburg, think about that, guys. That was bananas. Oh, we got to the bus station. I know. We just ran onto our train. We got to the bus station and the bus literally drove right past us before we could get to the bus station. So, we had to sit there and for like 20 30 minutes, we were like, “This bus better come. We’re going to miss our train.” It came at the perfect time and then it dropped us off 5 minutes before our train. Our train leaves at 3:05. It’s 3:00. We just got on the train. We’re kind of We’re going back, I guess. So, here we go. Going home. Well, vlog. We made it back to the apartment. We’re going to cook dinner, pack all of our things up because we are heading to Switzerland tomorrow. I am so excited to be in the mountains and out of the city. We’ve been in the city for like 2 weeks and I’m not used to that. So, I am very excited to be in nature. It’s definitely going to be colder, but I don’t care. I can’t wait. The mountains are going to be insane. So, we’re just going to get ourselves situated. We have a train ride tomorrow morning and we’ll get to Switzerland tomorrow afternoon around 3:00 or 4. So, thanks for joining us in France and a little bit of Germany and we’ll see you in Switzerland. So, don’t forget to comment, like, and subscribe. We’ll see you next Sunday. [Music]
