Arriving At Milton Of Fonab, Pitlochry
[Music] Yeah. So this morning we’re leaving Engleway Hall. Always looking for the handbrake. Press brake and switch. Okay, that’s it. Always looking for the handbrake. I’ve got this electronic handbrake on this. Yeah, it’s quite quite busy here, isn’t it? Yeah. have before. I had this little area to ourselves. But yeah, no, it’s been good. I mean, last night we slept in different beds. You went up the top, didn’t you? And up the ladder, and I don’t I can’t I don’t think I’d relax enough going up there. You went up the top and and you uh had the single bed. Yeah. Down below, which was reasonably comfortable. I mean, you’re using u the seats, aren’t you? the Yeah. bottom of the seats and you there’s like a a black foam thing that goes there. So, no, I had a quite a good night. Yeah. Tara was with me in her little bed beside me. Huh. And Poppy was in her bed for a while and then she decided she’d like to come there as well. Yes. I think they both like that single bed. Yes. Um I Sorry, G. I I was just going to say the um the drop down bed at the front. Uh I found it okay. It’s a a little bit those steps are a bit hard on cold feet and you do have to you know be careful when you’re coming down the steps. I found that a little bit difficult because number of times Poppy will tara want to go out or do something during the night. Um, and the only other thing I would say about it, and I I’ll perhaps I’ll mention this in the review, is that the um the bed is fairly um solid. And we’ve had drop down beds before, and they’ve moved about quite a bit. This one doesn’t move about that much, but it does have a clunk on it, and it it it moves from um end to end, not from side to side. If you move about or someone else is moving in the van. Yeah. It it goes clunk. Oh. Just a quiet clunk. Yes. But uh just enough to annoy. Yeah. It will worry you. Does it worry you when it does that? Well, no. Until I sort of got out and figured out where it was conking. And it’s just the in the runners. It’s the side to side movement in the runners. Right. Okay. But it’s not it’s not a big problem. I wouldn’t wouldn’t make a big thing about it. No. No. But I quite enjoyed that little uh bed down the bottom. Yeah. We also because we’re at Anggo Hall where there’s no facilities, we’ve had to use the washroom, haven’t we? Which works. The shower actually worked out better than I thought it was going to. I wasn’t really looking forward to it. But there is quite a nice space, isn’t there? The shower curtain goes all the way around. Yeah. That kept sticking to me bum. Did it? Oh, no. I don’t have that problem. No. So, shower was better than I thought. Yeah. All right. Yeah. So, we’ve left Englewait Halls, sadly, and we’re now heading into Scotland, aren’t we? By Tesco. By Tesco. Yeah. Tesco at Kile for a click and collect. Now, we’re heading to Pit Lockery. Yeah. Uh Milton of Fab Phone. Yes. Yes. So, we we’ve never stopped in Pit Locker. We’ve always sort of driven past it on the A9. Yeah. So, this will be interesting. See what we think of it. We’ve got some real Scottish weather to take with us, haven’t we? That’s right. We have, haven’t we? Right. So, we’ll catch up with you later. Yeah. All right. See you later. Oh, we’ve got me looking at that, haven’t you? Yeah. Nearly missed it again, didn’t we? I think we did miss it cuz you got me looking at that error message about the camera. Yeah. Right. So, we’ve come up the M74, haven’t we? Take the second exit. M73, M80. And now we’re now going to join the A9. Pit locker is off the A9. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. So, I just want to say a little bit about the drive. It’s been pretty good. I’ve quite enjoyed driving this. using adaptive cruise control and it you set it to a speed. I’ve set it 68 and uh when you come up behind something slower, it slows you down, which is a bit disconcerting at first. It’s doing it now 65 coming up. We’re going to turn off in a minute anyway, but it’s been very good. And you’re not constantly trying to, you know, change speed, doing it, doing it for you, particularly when it gets a bit busy around Glasgow. It’s done very well, hasn’t it? I’m very I’m quite impressed. I am very impressed with Ford to be honest. It seems powerful. It’s smooth. It’s relatively quiet. At the roundabout, take the second exit. We haven’t had the best of weather, have we? No. This the whole way. Yeah. And windscreen wipers. They’re not automatic wipers, but they are automatic light. and they’ve, you know, they’ve been um been quite good. The seats are a bit harder. It’s the only thing only criticism I can think of at the Ford camp is that these seats are quite firm. They’re not not uncomfortable, but you do feel that you want to move occasionally like you probably do in any other well vehicle. We’ve been driving for 3 4 hours now. I think we left Tesco about half 10, didn’t we? Half 10. What’s it now? It’s uh 12:54. Got another hour to go. They’re just past Sterling, aren’t they? Yeah. We’re now on the A9. 30 miles from Perth. There’s a lot of people going the other way. Oh, there are, aren’t they? 10 miles from Pit Lockery. Feel like you’re in the proper highlands now. Take the exit on the left to 924 to 893. In one mile, turn left onto Bridge Road. You think this is the old A9? Possibly. [Music] Sat’s binging at me for narrow roads. Just banging at me for 30 mph coming up. Everything’s binging at me. bit lockery in blue. I thought they said in blood. I think what’s that all about in half a mile. Turn left on Bridge. Well, it does tell her to take the next left opposite the Blair Ethal Distillery. So that sounds about right, doesn’t it? Sounds about right. Yeah. See, because it said pass the petrol station, takes take the next left opposite the Blair Distillery. Okay. There’s a petrol station. That sounds good. Not not there. No, it’s not there. No, it’s a late. Turn left onto Bridge Road. Is it here? No. No, not here. There. Yeah. This is Bridge Road. Bridge Road. Yeah. And there’s a sign for the caravan park. Where? Just hidden in the tree back there. Oh, right. Okay. But I didn’t see it then. It said you will see the caravan park Milton of from Onab. Yeah. On your left just after you cross the river. Okay. What’s all this work going on here? I don’t know. No idea. This is the river, isn’t it? That must be the caravan park, I presume. Yeah, it is. Turn left onto the road, then take the first left. So, what they’ve done is they’ve sent me an email uh just saying what your pitch number is. So, they said go straight to your pitch. Do you want to tell me what it is? Yeah, it’s uh pitch 86. Turn left onto the road, then keep left. Okay. So, Mrs. Sneagg’s found it. Yeah. Keep left on the road. Okay. We’re keeping left on the road. Keep left. Okay. That’s number four. 1 2 3 4. Arriving at Milton of Phone Caravan Park on the right. Go straight to the pitch then. Yeah, it said go straight to the pitch. Let’s try stop her. If she realizes we’ve arrived. See if I’ve got a map. You got a map as well? Yeah, I’ve got a map. So, we’re going round the top here, aren’t we? Well, we will be shortly. We will be shortly. Yeah, these are all mainly statics, I think. Presume we can get through here. All right, we’ll just have to reverse all the way back if we can’t. We’re going alongside the river. Yeah, this is the laundry. Yeah, looks like an old um uh water filling point for steam engines, isn’t it? Is it? I don’t know if it is, but here’s the toilet and showers. Okay, so where are we now? Now we’re going 23 24 23. So I think 36. It says there’s like a bridge. So halfway down here. Yeah. We’re trying We’re trying to get there. So what number we’re going for? 86. 86. Right. Okay. So now we’re into the main area. So sites number 74 to 107. We go right. I think we’re next to that camper van over there. This is 135 in that row there to our left. 14 definitely said 74. Yeah, 107 it said. We must have gone wrong here somewhere. Well, it’s a nice look around the site anyway for for the viewers. We didn’t really want to go out in the rain, did we? That must be over to the right. To Yeah. To the right here. That’s 45. Yeah. But that’s the way we came up, isn’t it? Or is it not? No, we came over the bridge. We came over the bridge and went to the right here. Right. So, or to the left as it is now. So, what do How are we going to get in there? I’m going to have to go to the bridge and turn around. Good grief. That must be in this little area then. 73 on the right here. 67 over there. 57. I have to study the map here. So, back to the bridge. I’m sure we’re if we can go grief. If we go back that way to the bridge. Going to get back to the bridge and then we’ll go. This is incredible, isn’t it? Then we go past the showers and round the showers and we think of a great clickbait title in a bit. Where is pitch 86, which is the bridge? Yes. But being all up there, you see that says 74. The arrows sort of pointing down. What does that mean? I think it means it’s round the back of the toilet block. Oh, right. Okay. We went past it. We’ve got to go in the back here. Good heavens. Right. So, pass the toilet block and turn immediate right as sharp as you can possibly go in an 8 mto 93 96. Hey, yeah, she I think she finds this step a little bit short. Yeah, I’ve I’ve slipped on it as well. I don’t know whether it’s that it’s minute tea. Yeah, there we are. It’s drizzling a little bit. Milton of for Phoneab. Phoneab. You shut the door. Shut the door. Yeah. Yeah. You don’t have to report to reception or anything there. I don’t know because I don’t haven’t read the rest of there’s quite a few rules and everything. Okay. Unusual water tower thing, isn’t it? Go on. Go around. Go on. We got to go that way. Pops. Don’t think we have. Okay. We have a washing up point. Okay. There’s the lose. Okay, I’ll just pop in point is in this hut, I think. Sorry, it’s in here with this. Oh, here’s the in there. All right. Okay. Nice views from the toilet block. And ladies, you want to go pointing up in the air there. Sorry. It’s sort of pointing the ladies are up there. Yeah, that’s here. I would see it. Okay. Shower room like a family room there. Okay. Shower. It’s the bins anyway. Loads of bins. Nothing else. Yeah, just like another family room. Another shower and sink in there. Okay. And it’s just the same as the other one. So there’s two toilets. Bins everywhere, isn’t it? Yeah. Bins everywhere. Okay. I think a coffee is called for first there or anything else. I think that’s the camera there. I’m not sure. Yeah. So, we got a hookup. Oh, we got water on the pitch. That’s the overflow. Yeah. Had to get managed to get my mat completely wet now. I had to put that because that’s where the waste comes out right in the middle underneath the van. I didn’t want to be crawling around in the mud. Okay, so this morning we’re heading out. Going to have a walk into Pit Locker. The weather’s cleared up a little bit. Jenny says there’s a 5% chance of rain. Less than less than 5%. Okay. Nothing really. Hopefully. That’s the bet. See, folks. Yeah. Well, we got a bit of a better view than we had yesterday. Poppy’s all excited. Don’t think she knows where she’s going yet. Do you know where you’re going? No. Okay. Yeah. It’s quite a view, isn’t it? It’s all around us, isn’t it? Yeah. Didn’t appreciate it yesterday. No, just the right way. Was the way that came in. Oh, was it? Okay. A little stream running through here. But okay. Guess I think this is the motor home service point. Oh, is it? I think so. Yeah, nice little 505 in there. Yeah, it’s just a a drain chemical disposal point. Looks like there’s car cleaning stuff there. That’s quite good, isn’t it? Yeah, that’s all right. It’s rinse water, isn’t it? That is rinse water. That’s all right. Not like that site at um in Denmark where where you could wash your cars. Yeah. Here’s the reception block area. Looks like they’ve got gas color there by the looks of it. It’s the thing you see more of on campsites these days. Points for electric cars charging. Okay. Yeah, probably just have a quick look. That’s the office, isn’t it? I don’t know what’s in it. I see just for 9:44 at 10. There’s quite a bit in there, isn’t it? Yeah, I got to say there’s quite a bit in there. Quite a lot of provisions. That’s good, isn’t it? I’ll have a look in there later. Okay. And that’s the office there, which also opens at 10:00. Yeah. So, it’s just quarter two at the moment. So, right, remember to do a selfie this time. Poppy thought she was getting left behind. Then there is a temptation, Poppy. sometimes. Go a Yeah, it’s quite a prettyl looking site. There’s that road going up there. Not suitable for caravans, buses, heavy lorries. Okay. Probably be all right in a little. Yeah. Pity I didn’t bring the bike, isn’t it? Yeah. Think we could fit it in, do we? Well, we don’t know. I mean, fitted the uh we put the fridge the fridge in the uh in the back there. It takes up a fair bit of room. Yeah. So, we’re going that way again. This is the same cycle way, isn’t it? 777. Right. You better be quick cuz it’s nearly poppy’s tea time. Oh, you make an appearance in a minute. Yeah. So, what do we think of this site? Well, we’ve only really been here two nights, but the great thing about it is the location, isn’t it? I’m in Pit Lock. We’ve never managed to stop here before. So, no. Really liked it here. We’ve had a nice Hello, Poppy. Hello, Pops. A nice walk around uh today, didn’t we? Go on. Yeah, we went to the what’s it called? The old mill in as you probably saw earlier in the video. And uh that was really nice. We suddenly found we could get a discount and we you could ask for discount vouchers from the the reception shop. It’s her tea time. Yeah. Well, she’s on the wrong hour as well, which doesn’t help, does it? Yeah. Poppy, you adjust your clock. Yeah. The clock’s still wrong. Yeah. Yeah. So, basically, um I booked it um about August time because when we knew we were going to be borrowing the van, um I had to pay a deposit of £35 and I had to pay £3720 about 3 weeks before we were due to come. Right. Got an email reminder. Um, one thing to know is that if you need to cancel, if you cancel without with longer than 14 days before you’re due to arrive, then they can probably move your booking to another date, right? But if you cancel within 14 days, it says on the terms and conditions that you don’t get your deposit back and you don’t get your balance back, right? Okay. So they strongly suggest you take out um some form of holiday insurance, cancellation insurance to cover that should you need to cancel. That’s interesting, isn’t it? Yeah. Yeah. Um the other thing I saw in the terms and conditions was about group bookings. Okay. And it seems to suggest that if you were a group of well, it said two or more. Yeah. So if you come with friends Yeah. you need to check with reception that it’s okay. So, we were going to come last year with Glenn and Sharon, weren’t we? That would have been a group booking then, wouldn’t it? Well, yeah, we’ we have had to check that it was okay that we came with them, but Yeah. I suppose they’re looking for people who, you know, are having a a shindig, aren’t they? Yeah, I suppose. So, well, they do say no stag or or hen d. Yeah. Yeah. I suppose that’s good for the rest of us, isn’t it? Yeah, that’s right. Yeah. Just seem two just seemed a bit small group. Yeah. But I depends how many are in each van, doesn’t it really? Well, it’s if they arrive like those people in the ID bus arrived and suddenly loads of people getting out of the van. I don’t know how many people got out of that van. That was at Nottingham, wasn’t it? Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, so the thing with dogs is um I can’t see there’s a maximum number of dogs. Obviously, we brought two and we weren’t charged for them. No. There’s a tiny little um dog walk up the top here, isn’t there? Yeah. Yeah. It’s just a length of grass with some planks to keep your feet dry. That’s right. But there’s plenty of walks off site for them. I wouldn’t worry about that, you know. Just walk off the site and there’s so much to to see around here. And there’s so much to explore around here. I think it’s a brilliant place to come, you know, if we we’d never really been Well, we haven’t been in at Pit Lockery before. We’ve been in the sort of area, haven’t we? Yeah. We stayed at Blair Castle. Yeah. Yeah. Which is like 40 minutes further up the A9. Stayed there once. But I’ve always been sort of looking for stopovers on the A9 because then we can break the journey and then go a bit further north after that. Yeah. Um, someone asked me what the to always to check what the Wi-Fi is like on sites. And because I don’t normally use Wi-Fi, I don’t I always forget to check. But I did a speed check, a speed test on it, and it I it was pretty good. It came up, I’ll tell you, it came up 28 um meg download and 14 upload, which I think is better than our routers doing at the moment. And what it would be like obviously if the site is busy, it might slow down a bit. Might do. Yeah. Yeah. But uh and there doesn’t seem to be any restriction on using uh YouTube or or anything else or even comments because sometimes I think it’s camping and caravanning club. You can’t no comments. Well, I I didn’t see that. No, I can do a comment here. Someone says pink and yellow cake is called angel cake. Great video. Okay, thanks for that. We thought it was Marzipan, isn’t it? No, we thought it was Bat. Oh, Batenburg. That’s right. Can’t remember where that was. Where was that? That was at Scan, right? Oh, yeah. In that C. It was still, as as we speak at the moment, we’re still in the middle of um I’m still in the middle of editing my Denmark videos. I’ve got about three or four to do yet. Yeah. Just about to do the um Yeah. No, it went through. All right. Just about to do the airborne museum um at Beck. Yeah. So, uh Yeah. because we we came straight back, didn’t we? We gone into the NEC. Yeah. And then we’ve we had arranged this tour afterwards. Yeah. So, yeah, that’s Sorry. Right. Back to the site. That’s completely gone off topic yet again. Yeah. Back to the site. Yes. So, toilet block is is okay, isn’t it? Sort of separate bathrooms and Yeah, it was okay. I mean, it’s a short, you know, you got these buttons that you press to hold, you know, and it lasts a few minutes. Well, that one lasts about 10 seconds. So, it’s a case Yeah. one hand in showering. But apart from that, it was all right. It’s all right. Yeah. Yes. So, I think it’s really the location, isn’t it? There is a motor home service point. We’re on a service pitch. Yeah. as we’ve got water, which is a really good one actually because the water’s just there and our waste is just there and it works really well. Yeah. Yeah. Because that’s not always the case, is it? Sometimes you end up with a great big long collapse, long waist pipe. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah. Anything else? Can’t think of anything else. I mean, it is purely the location. It’s a nice stopover. One thing to mention is it’s not open all year. Um, it closes uh 3rd of November like a lot of the sites and doesn’t open till I think it’s 13th of March, Friday the 13th of March next year. Laundry machine. Well, we haven’t done any laundry. There is a laundry here. Somebody said it’s a bit dated the laundry. Okay. So, but we we didn’t go in there. It’s when we came in, it was sort of on the corner, wasn’t it? But bus stops. I did see there was a bus stop on the road as we walking into the town. didn’t notice where you can obviously you can walk into pit lockery as well and there’s a train station there which we we passed. Yeah, I didn’t notice any family rooms as such but they have got these built-in bathrooms. Yeah, I suppose I think I think when I’m looking on here they do talk about them being family rooms. So yeah, I didn’t see an information point as such. There’s no sort of probably in the reception building which we didn’t go in because we did this selfchecking. Yeah. Just turn up and we knew which pitch we’re going on, but we didn’t know where the pitch was. Was there was apart from that? Any problem? Yeah. Yeah. Play areas. Haven’t seen any sort of play areas. No. No, I haven’t. No. Talked about the motor home service point dog walk. We’ve mentioned accessibilities. People always ask us about wheelchair access, you know, as a wheelchair accessible walks. Well, I think if obviously once you got out the site, you’re on on the main road and you know, yeah, it’s all paved, isn’t it? pavements. Yeah, little pavement. So, some of the bit little bit steep where we came out of. Yeah, we’re in a mountainous region. So, that’s right. Yeah. And I didn’t see any walkways round by the dam. No, no, no. There would seem to be steps. And the mobile signal is all right here, isn’t it? It’s not not bad. Yeah. I mean, I’m on my phone, which is E. Yeah. The routter is on E, isn’t it? Didn’t we find E was better than Vodafone? Yeah. Yeah. And you’ve got Wi-Fi as well. So, so I think that’s it. I think we’ve covered everything. Yeah. And only other thing I was going to say is that when um they send you an email when you’re due to come, they sent it the day before and that’s when they tell you what pitch you’re on and they’re telling you to look for the offers that they’ve got. There lots of things that they send you details of when you book the site. Come here. Thing only remains to ask these two what they thought of it. What do you think of bit locker? You like it? Don’t ask me these questions. She says, “When’s my my tea coming?” You think about it, Tara? No. Okay. Yeah. She says, “Where’s my tea?” Yeah. Same question. Right. So, on that note, we better go and get their tea, aren’t we? So, we’ll catch you in the next one. Yeah. See you then. Okay then. Bye then. Look at that. It’s good, isn’t it?

Would I have saw you on Meathope Fell Bob this week, Now I see the van you’re in I’m pretty sure it was yourselves, I had arrived towing my wee Fiat and may have been filling with water…If I had have known it was yourself I would have said hello as it was your videos that helped me choose the TowAFrame system…
Blair Atholl is a great stop…..a few miles north of Pitlochry…..maybe you guys have been there before…….fantastic walks towards Glen Tilt..
Looks like a nice site at Pitlochry. Makes a big difference with blue skies. Looking forward to seeing the town 😄👍🏻🚐 Trev n Sue
Looks like a lovely site Bob and Jen. I had to laugh at Bob’s comment about the shower curtain .
We had a fleeting visit during our Edinburgh mini moon to Pitlochry. Would love to return properly, possibly next Easter!
Thanks for sharing N&Nx
A bit of a groundhog day trying to find your pitch. It was in a difficult place to be fair Bob and at least you found it. Beautiful panoramic views with the nice weather. Safe travels. See you on the next.
Thanks for the look around. Pitlochry is a great stop!
We were at Milton of Fonab a couple of weeks ago, great site, hope You both Well Bob & Jenny,
Bruce & Linda.
Looks a good site. Poppy is so lovely. Enjoy.
Thank you.
Well done on pronunciation of Pitlochry, you nailed the ch sound like a native, rather than ck pronunciation often used by non Scots. Enjoy the trip
Great, have stayed in Faskally and walked to Pitlochry but that site looks really nice
Bad enough looking for the pitch in a motor home never mind towing a caravan.
We stayed there in a static caravan a few years go with my late parents. It’s a lovely wee site and some decent dog walks turning left from the site entrance. Pitlochry is a nice wee toon but very touristy in season. Hope you managed a visit to the House of Bruar just up the road on the A9. Fantastic shopping experience for everything including Scottish produce. Dogs not allowed in though. Nice to see the place again😊
Fab site and in the lovely town of Pitlochry where I work!! 😊
Anyone going to Pitlochry has to visit Queens View. Stunning ❤
I think the family room might be a disabled toilet and shower
I love Pitlochry, good video Bob.
Thank you Bob & Jenny ❤Great looking site. Happy hear there’s lots to explore for walking within area. Looking forward to seeing the Town.. 😊
Glad to see the heated screen back. Our 2025 Adamo 69/4 does not have it! I am surprised that you said the wipers were not automatic though, they are on ours. Ian
Hi Bob and Jenny, this looked a lovely campsite, made me smile when you were trying to find your pitch, it was difficult to find. Looking forward to the walk to the village, take care x Julie and Tony x
Hi both, that’s exactly what happens to us, we can never find our pitch 🙈😂
Hope you both have a great time there 😊
Great shot of our Bailey Cabrera at 12:52 minutes, pity I didn’t get the chance to come and say hello to “ the King and Queen of YouTube” !!
One of our favourite places, staying in McKays this weekend as the site is closed and a visit to the theatre. Plenty of walks too. Local bus terminates at the festival theatre 👍
