Starting our walk at the Lagos Marina, it’s a warm but slightly overcast day, around 25°C, and surprisingly lively for autumn. The far end of the marina is peaceful, with great views of the waterfront apartments and restaurants such as Dove and Sea Dog and a small Thai restaurant tucked underneath the arches.
As we move closer to the main marina area, it gets much busier with Marina de Lagos, Quay Side Bar, and Oasis full of locals and tourists. Above the marina, Portofino’s Italian Restaurant and Lazy Jack’s overlook the boats, with Pizza Hut nearby for a casual option. Before crossing the bridge, we pass the lively Amuras Bar, one of the most popular spots on the waterfront.
Across the road, the main Avenida is lined with souvenir stalls, boutique shops, and cafés. We stop by the Municipal Market, which has a rooftop restaurant called Mare — widely regarded as having the best view in Lagos.
Next, we head into the Old Town of Lagos, one of the most charming in the Algarve. The cobbled backstreets are full of restaurants and bars, including Mama Mia Italian, Ocean View, and Gelicia with its famous gelato. At the main square, musicians and street performers entertain the crowd — even on quieter days.
We explore deeper into the backstreets where restaurants like Dom Sebastião, Casa do Prego, and Casinha do Petisco are still busy, proving that Lagos in November is far from sleepy. We end our walk at the square, enjoying the sound of a violinist echoing through the historic streets.
