Our European Road Trip Begins! Vanlife Europe

[Music] But in our defense, she just stopped us and told us to go in this room. We walked in the wrong door and then we got to the right place and yeah, we weren’t supposed to be there. [Music] Oh my god, he’s using the dish cloth. Richard, that’s what I washes my pots and pans with. [Music] Hey guys, welcome back to another video and we’re on our way to the tunnel. Not just any tunnel at the Euro Tunnel. We’re off to Europe. We are about an hour away. It takes just over three hours to get there from home and we booked quite a late tunnel. So, it’s half 10, which means we’ll get into Calala around midnight. We’re going to drive about half an hour and then we’ve got a wild camp spot somewhere near Nordistock. I don’t know where the park up is actually. It’s just north of Nordtocks, but we don’t know what it’s called. But the crazy thing is we’ve booked the same tunnel train as two of our mates, same day, the same time, and they’re going to Europe as well for I think you have 10 days, 12 days. I think they’re coming back on the 17th, come back on the 21st. So I think the plan is to spend tonight with them, wake up, have breakfast, and then go our separate ways. [Music] No tunnel we Oh my gosh. [Music] We’ve just made it to the tunnel. We’re going to go to pet reception. Check him. His animal house certificate £175. Big box. And he had to have a rabies jab and you have to pay to put them on tunnel. No, it’s cost us more to get him here than it cost us. Let’s go sign him in. Hello, Peanut. That’s Oslo’s best mate, Peanut. Go on then. In this way, you want a drink? No, I’m right. Thanks. We made it. I’ve signed in. Going to go get a cup of tea from somewhere. And they put us on an earlier tunnel. Thank you so much. See you in the tunnel. Go in. Quick, quick, quick. They put us on the earlier tunnel at half 9 instead of half 10. But then we went and got a cup of tea and a Burger King. And now we’ve got about 4 minutes to get to the train. But I think it leaves at half 9 and it’s half 9. Oh, it’s half 9. There’s nobody at Burger King, so I thought I’d get a burger and it took like half an hour for them to bring it out. I hope that does mean they just put us on the next one and not Yeah, we just be on the next one. Fingers crossed we make it on the tunnel. And they gave us some snacks when we checked Oslo in as well. Dog snacks. That was quite a cute little touch. Snacks. They didn’t give me any bloody snacks, did they? Oslo, you got on holiday? kind of are they outside? Yeah. Right, we are on the tunnel. There was a bit of a palava getting on cuz we were late, but we weren’t late. But we were late, but we were early, but we were late. And it’s about a 35minut tunnel journey to the other side to France. We did miss that tunnel. So they put us on the next one. But it’s our own fault for getting I didn’t get food actually. I did. I did. It’s our own fault for getting food. There was no one there. It wasn’t our fault. It was the Burger King workers. Don’t get too close in case you can’t fit. See you in France. So we just made it into France. It took about half an hour. They’re about to start moving. Harry’s been napping. So, he’s trying to wake up, but it’s pretty dark outside cuz it’s half 11. So, we’re going to go find somewhere to park tonight and then we will show you what it’s like tomorrow morning when it’s a bit brighter. So, see you in the morning. It is a little wave. Welcome to France, baby. We we on France. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Good Morning. Seeing croissants. Best thing about France. Right, we’ve just pulled off the main road. We pulled into an intermareteer to get some food. We’ve done What time did we leave this morning? Just before 7:00, I think it is now 12:00. So, we’ve done about 4 and 1 half hours of driving. We still got another 4 hours left. Yeah. Bang on. 4 hours until we get to We’ve decided to go to Inter Lan. Inter. It’s in between two lakes which I think is why it’s called in the larkan in the larkan and it looks beautiful. It was all very last minute. We had a couple of rough ideas and we just couldn’t decide what we wanted to do and then we just so happened to be on the same tunnel as Beck and Rich who are our childhood best friends. So I went to school with Beck, Rich went to school and Rich went to school with Atwood. Harry went to school with Outwood. rich and they said that they were going to Interarken and that was one of the places on our list. So we’ve we’re going to go there, spend a couple of days with them and then see where we end up after that. But we’re going to go into Intermar, grab some food, some snacks, and then back on the road. You wait there, baby. Yeah. It’ll be 2 minutes. You going to protect the van, make sure no one breaks in. Should I get some cheese? French cheese. Yeah. Good boy. You wait. Oh, we locked it. The first intera just so much better in France. Yeah, I know. Like you don’t get this in England. Are we getting a little basket? Yeah, better. French food is so much nicer than English. Pound of chocolate and some quason. Yes. When in France, by the way, always get a tart of flavor whenever you can cuz they are amazing. Cheeseburger crisps. All these flavors. And I get the same one every single time. Same. Oh, feels like we’re on holiday. Funny that. Hi, baby. All right, let’s put this away and then carry on. Another 4 hours. We made it into Switzerland. We got funneled into a off bit into the side and had to queue up and uh we thought they wanted to see passports. So we took our passports and everything and queued up in this queue. Got to the front, gave them the passports and they’re like, “No.” We’re like, “Well, what are we doing here? What do we need?” And they all they needed was the vignette for the um to drive in Switzerland, which we’d already done online. So we just went bye. Bye. You go. We just drove off. So felt so stupid. We didn’t really know what we were queuing up for. But in our defense, she just stopped us and told us to go in this room. We walked in the wrong door and then we got to the right place and yeah, we weren’t supposed to be there. But we’re in Switzerland and we are 2 hours from Interacan. Interacan. We’ll probably see you there. And we’re going to go get in the lake. Oslo has been an absolute dream. He has been sat back there. He comes up for a little snack every now and again. And then he goes back to bed. So he deserves a swim. We have made it to Interacan, Switzerland. It is absolutely beautiful here. So, Interacan is in between two massive lakes and the views are just absolutely stunning. The water’s crystal clear. It looks so nice. Um, Beck and Rich are about half hour ahead. They’ve saved us a spot somewhere. Uh, straight. Sorry. Oslo can have a swim. Bless him. He’s still just patiently waiting. As we came into Austria, No, not Austria. Where are we? Switzerland. There were loads of signs saying Avat and no Avat. And I thought that was a place in Germany. And I kept seeing the sign and then when he woke up and said, “This place must be really popular.” I I’m obviously very close to Germany cuz I keep seeing signs for Avat. He’s like, “That means exit in German.” idiot. This whole time I was like, “Oh, we’ve got to go there. It must be insane. I’ve seen like 10 signs for it. It’s exercise. Is that what makes it better? Is it the more signs? Well, it’s obviously popular. Everywhere you go, it’s telling you how to get there. Yeah. We are 12 minutes away so we can relax, get Oslo out, go for a walk, and show you these views because it is insane. It is absolutely mega. There’s still snow on the mountains as well, which is cool. Oh, look, there it is. Look, still Still signs. Still signs. It’s that way. Where’s Peanut? Hey, you going swimming? You’re going swimming? Yeah. So, we found the perfect place to park. The guy is moving forward and Richie is moving back. So, hopefully we can get in because this spot is perfect. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, it’s 4 and 1 half hours. Oh, can we not be here till 10? until 10. Oh, we can’t be right. I’ve got it. No overnight parking basically. I appreciate. Ready? Go on then. Hi, Peanut. So, King Camp have sent us two of their juniper chairs. They’re oversized. They fold away to quite a compact size as well. And they are so comfortable. They’ve also got cool boxes as well, which are perfect for festivals. You can keep all your beers cold. And you got the beer holder on this side as well. And as well as that, it comes with loads of different pockets, but they’ve got a lumbar support on the back so you can velcro it to where you like it, tighten it, and then if you want to sit slightly more upright, you can. Or if you want to keep it slouched, you’re able to do that as well. But they hold £450. I don’t know what that is in the screen. But me and Josie spent most of last weekend sat on this together. So they’re proper solid as well. They’re like really strong, aren’t they? Whenever you see other people’s chairs at these other events, they’ve got like really thin, skinny bits on, but these are proper bulky. I love them. I’m chuffed. We needed new chairs, ours were falling apart. So when King Camp reached out and said they’d send us these, we were well excited. King Camp have also sent us the bamboo folding table. It folds out really, really easily. It holds like 170 lbs as well, so it’s really, really strong and sturdy. And it’s got four adjustable legs, so if you’re sat slightly off and you want to play a drinking game, for instance, you don’t want your beers falling out or your food sliding off a table, you can adjust the table so it’s completely level. And it also comes up to about this height as well. So yeah, we were playing a card game, but we were slightly on a wonk. So, we just extended two of the legs and it was perfectly flat, but also it folds down. So, the four panels fold into each other and the legs fold in and it fits inside a tiny carry bag. So, we’ve now got so much more room in our garage even though our new table is bigger. So, we’ll put the links in the description and if you use Harry code, Harry will put it on the screen somewhere here, you get 10% off the original price of the product, but also we’ve got a link to Kingamp’s website with all the different products they’ve sent us. So, the tent, the chairs, the table, the camp beds. So, if you want to see anything that we’ve shown on our channel before, have a look below. We’ve just been chilling around the lake for the past few hours. This is absolutely beautiful here. The views are stunning. The sun’s just gone down behind the mountains over there. I’m getting a bit peckish now. Dinner time. So, I’m going to have some cheese assortments. Bit of speck uh in a baguette. Bit of speck. Bit of speck. What are you having for dinner, Rich? Thank you, Rishy. So, Zagnner, couple nuts. What are you having for dinner? Cris. So, we’ve been sat at this park up for quite a few hours, actually. Yeah, we sat. We watched the sunset. So, the place we’re going to is a car park in Interlacan. It’s the only place you can stay overnight by the campsites. And I think it’s about €2 per hour, which is why we’ve left it as late as possible to get there. So, you’re only allowed to stay here until 10:00 at night cuz it’s a no wild camping. I think Switzerland is generally like that. We’re going to go and head to this park up. Hopefully, there’s space for us cuz if not, we don’t really have another option. Campsites are about 50 60 a night and it’s quite late. I was fed. Um [Music] ticket and moment but good fart. Good fart. I’m off. [Music] Good morning. That park up was so nice. It’s perfectly flat. It was just Yeah, really, really decent car park. The views and stuff this morning were absolutely mega. It’s right next to the river going from the lake to lake. Bit expensive. It was two Swiss Franks an hour, but it’s for every hour of the day. So, it cost us 24 Swiss Franks for just under 12 hours. Quite expensive, but a nice park up. We’re on our way to the lake. I think there’s a diving board on one of the lakes. No, we’re not off. We’re off to La Brunan to go for a walk this morning. Oh, that is this afternoon’s plan. Oh, okay. Let me go park up, have some breakfast, and then go for a walk. The views in Switzerland, though, are absolutely stunning. Look at that snowy mountains and fluorescent blue lakes. This place is insane. I don’t know if the GoPro will pick it up, but up there where the Swiss flag is is a waterfall. That is insane. Driving everywhere like this. I see all the views. The sign says no cars or no motorbikes, but it doesn’t say no camper vans. Oh god. Where are you taking us, Richie? Beautiful little spot. Oh, no motor homes, camper vans. Oh, that’s right. Oh, yeah. It’s fine. Perfect. Like this. Yeah. So, we put some glass in cuz we bought some from the shop yesterday and we thought, how nice would it be if they’re warm and they smell like they’re done? Want an apple tea? Oh my god. Ever. Good morning. Like in my hand. Hello. Oh, look. Nibbles. My finger. Put your finger in. It licks up. Hello. I can move his little teeth. Hello. Let’s go. You like it? Go. So, Rich’s found us a lovely little walk to do around La Brunan. About how long? There’s goats in the corner of the car park and they’re so friendly and they’re not scared of us. They came running over and we’re kissing back. Right, we’re going to go for a walk. I just fell over. I went flying. I blame Oslo for pulling. Harry just went ass over it on the flattest step out of all of them. [Applause] Don’t go on a walk with Rishi. We come for a little walk. The Bit with the river is so flat. Really, really nice. The views are absolutely stunning. Then we just come up this really steep drive. I don’t know how people drive up there. There’s like actual tire marks as well, but we’re just going up here a little bit further. I think we should start to see the views in a minute. Loud to Brun in. Get your asses here. It is absolutely mega. [Applause] You have a nice walk back. Yep. Bloody lovely. Enjoying the views. Lovely. Especially the old snowy mountains. What are you doing? You hot dog. He needs to Yeah. wash his head. Peanut weed on his head. But Ozo got in the way we just got back to the van. That walk was mega just looking at the waterfalls and that all the way down. All the way back. Yeah, it was wicked. It was about an hour long. 3.5 km. So spot on. It was a little bit of a steep bit near the beginning, but other than that, really nice walk. We’re just going to drop all our jumpers off cuz it’s bloody boiling now. And we’re going to head over. We heading over to the town and maybe have a look at the bottom of the waterfall. Yeah. Have a little look around. I would get the drone up, but this is a no drone zone, so unfortunately I can’t. [Music] Wait, babe. You got to stick to the path. The rocks can’t get you. I’m trying. Oslo was low. Are we there yet? Antonio, thank you. Thank you. I didn’t expect that. We’ve just come out under the waterfall. We’re underneath the waterfall. Get that camera. This is crazy. Hello. Come on. We’ve just walked up to the top of that waterfall. We’re not the very top. That would have taken a long time. Imagine if a big gust of wind came in. We’d be soaked. Slow down. Oh, that wasn’t as bad on the way down. I got strawberry slash. Oh wow, that is amazing. What is it? Strawberry and mango slush, but it tastes like proper fresh fruit rather than fake. We’re just going for a walk through town and then we’re going to go back to the van and try and find a spot next to the lake cuz it’s very warm. Go for a dip. Right, let’s go find a lake spot. A spot on the lac quick up. We only brought enough water. I think we brought about 25% just to get over here. So, we haven’t got enough for showers or anything. So, quick fill up. One second. More important things. Beck, your friends are here. Hi. Hello. [Music] Hello, friends. We are off to there’s a couple of diving boards on the leftand lake of Interaka. I’m not entirely sure what the lake is called, but the left one of the two lakes and we don’t know if there’s any spots or anything to park. Um we’ve got the satnav which has taken us to a bridge with a bit of a layby. So, we’ll have a little look, scope out. If not, we’ll go back to the other lake, the blue one where we were yesterday, and probably get some have some food and maybe get in the lake. We found the next park up. We are underneath a road, but right on the edge of the lake here. The view is absolutely stunning. Uh we’re just going to have some food and then take a walk up there cuz I think there’s um on top of the bridge. There’s a few people jumping off the bridge into the lake. So, we might go me and Rich might jump off depending on how high it is. If not, we’ll watch other people jumping off. But I think there’s a bit of a beach and all sorts around there. So, we’ll have a look at that in a bit. Hey, wait a minute. What are you having? Hi. I’m making two little mini baguettes cuz they didn’t have big baguettes at the shop. What are you having? Uh, he wants to get his toes wet. Look at him. Little parcels. Oh, I think they’re bolognese parcels. Woo. A little side salad and some roasted garlic mayo. You let them cool down for a minute. They should stiffen up a bit. Smell really good. We’re just leaving the van to walk towards the lake. I’ve got my swimming stuff just in case, but apparently it’s really cold. Yeah, Beck and Rich have well, they’re on the paddle board and they’ve had a little dip their toes in and they said it’s freezing in there, so I’m not sure whether we’re going to get in. We’ll have a look. People were jumping off this bridge earlier into the water and I think apparently there’s a rope swing and someone bought a trampoline. Yeah, they bought a trampoline at the top of the stairs and they’re bouncing off the trampoline over and then into the water. Send it. Oh, it’s cold in here. Send it. I need to just You ready? One, two, three. Yes. I was so scared. [Applause] We’ve left that other spot. We have come back to the same place. Oh, wow. Look at all the power gliders up there. Don’t know if they pick it up on the camera, but we’re doing it at night time last night. They’re all lit up. Yeah, that was pretty cool. But yeah, we’ve come back to the same place we stayed last night in in Takan and we’re going to go out for a meal and have some drinks, I think, because we haven’t really been out for a pint yet since we’ve been here. No, no, we haven’t bought a pint. We found out the drink drive limit in Switzerland is almost nothing. I think if you have one beer, you’re over the limit. So, we haven’t been drinking because we won’t be able to drive anywhere. And there’s nowhere to stay in Switzerland either. So, we had such a good day today, though. like the views everywhere. We’ve been the walk this morning, jumping off the uh the bridge, the steps days. So, yeah, it’s been so cool. It’s been perfect. And I put my big girl bra big girl bra pants on and I was really really scared, but I did it. I was going to do a back flip off it, but I haven’t done a back flip for about 10 years. I thought I’m probably not in the right place to be going hospital, so I just We don’t have insurance. I did a little safety jump. Yeah. Yeah. Rich did though. insert a clip here. We’ll see when we are getting some dinner. Come here, pooch. Come here. This This needs to be attached to you. Come here. I’m not sure what’s going on either in Lan’s a bit posh, but there’s so many people leaving. I know it’s Sunday, but there’s so many people leaving. Like, the traffic going out compared to the traffic coming in is ridiculous. Cheers. So, I ordered a pasta arabi and I said, “Not too spicy, please.” He said, “Yeah, it’s not spicy.” apparently told the kitchen to put half the spice on. It came out. I I couldn’t eat it. Beck and Rich tried it and confirmed it was actually really spicy. I’ve now got a block nose. I was fine before I sat down. So, he’s just bought me out a gift. Apparently, it helps with the spice. That’s a Is that a double gulper? I don’t know. It’s a lemon cello, by the way. [Music] Cheers, guys. Sorry. Bear in mind there. I think they’re 9 quid, by the way. So, we just paid the bill. We finally found out his name. It was Arthur. He wouldn’t give it to us. And now we just bought over well, two shots for the ladies. Frost. Frost. Oh, and it’s actually also homemade. Yes. From from his greatgrandfather. Homemade. He wouldn’t tell us the recipe. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Oh, yeah. Do you want to try it? Would you want some? You have that? Why allow? I’ve had two. It’s strong. That’s nice, though. That is really refreshing. Oh, that is good. Frost. Frost. Oh. Oh. That is nice. But so in Switzerland, it’s the most expensive McDonald’s in the world. Rich just got two McFlurries and it was £11. Scandalous chili. I am lifting three. Have you met my dog Peanut? He’s vicious chops. He’s chops it. Oh my god, he’s using the dish cloth. Richard. That’s what he washes my pots and pans with. Mugs up the screen now. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe that. Good night everybody. We should see you next time. Tada.

Join us on our European adventure! The initial plan was to cross the English Channel via the Eurotunnel at 22:35.. However a change in plans led to us missing an earlier, unexpected departure..

The next morning, we hit the road early and drove eight hours to reach Interlaken, Switzerland which completely took our breath away! We highly recommend it for its stunning views. We went for a walk around the beautiful village of Lauterbrunnen and visited the stunning Staubbachfall Waterfall (that you can walk behind!) before returning to Interlaken. We found a car park that allowed overnight stays, so that’s where we spent our second night.

On Sunday evening, we had a lovely dinner out with Bec & Rich. Lauren bravely ordered the spiciest pasta imaginable, making for a memorable end to the day..

Despite a bumpy start, our trip is off to an amazing beginning. Stay tuned to hear more about our European journey!

We hope you’ve enjoyed 🙏🏼❤️

  7. Omg I said exactly the same thing when I kept seeing Ausfahrt on the motorways!! 😅
We absolutely adored Switzerland and especially Launterbrunnen and Jungfrau. I climbed up the same waterfall, and we also did some of the same walks. Although we did a Huge downhill walk from Wengen and hurt ourselves in the process! My husband's big toe nail is still black from it! We will be heading back some time for sure. Can't wait to see where you go next!

  8. Thanks for brill vid….Switzerland looks fab so far…can’t wait to see the next one…thanks a mill for discount, already bought chairs as I’m a fatty but bought the table! Enjoy guys xx

  9. Hi Guys, discovered your channel recently and have been enjoying your videos. They have given us some ideas for our next euro trip. We do approve of Lauren’s favourite crisps as Vico Extra Craquantes are ours as well, especially in the 400g Maxi pack ! You are right about French supermarkets being so much better than British ones. Our favourite is the Super U in Bourg St Maurice in the Alps. Its Saucisson cave is well worth a visit, one for Harry’s list maybe ! Keep up the good work ! JT – Campervan Journey 👍
